“The state charges a dollar-twenty five pop.”

Based on your numbers i would say got the vit route. You could always swap out a ring or two which are easy enough to come by. This way you can play around with different stat combos. I cant recall the exact numbers but i think i roll about 24k hp and like 2400 armor and mostly solo roam camps and shrines etc, and I don’t seem to have any trouble staying alive. I also did okay in zerg fights at 15fps on my old pc just recently.
It’s really about whatever you feel comfortable with. I just tried to approximate my pvp builds sort of base stats (pali.) and went from there. The build is a bit different in wvw but those two base levels i felt comfortable with achieving. Plus whatever foods you got, banner buffs etc., can change things a bit as well.

I just finished my placements and landed in t2 gold. Last two seasons i hit t1 silver from placements. Now maybe i’ve gotten that much better in these few months that i haven’t really played much or the (soft) reset is being very kind. I am curious to see how things play out this time around. I did get some help in a couple of my placement matches even one we lost because me and the ele held mid the entire time while who knows what happened else where. At the very least i can say i made it to t2 gold on my necro!
You could get away with a power well build on core necro for wvw until you get reaper if you want to play in a pack, or even solo to a degree. You can get hero points in wvw through scrolls as well. Condi is pretty boss right now tbh on reaper. I run power myself as i feel i have more survivability options with it, and i like it better. I also run staff so…
GS is pretty beast too if you can make it work. I’ve tried it some roaming and it can be pretty heavy hitting for sure. Also effective as a condi weapon as well.
Find a play style that you like and tweak your builds around it and you should be good.
Axe is a decent power option with a solid boon corrupt. It could be used with cond. Imo scepter would likely be the better option in most cases. That said I have been playing around with some hybrid options using axe/GS//staff, for kicks that have been okay. Really though it’s about finding you style and how you like to play.
I’ve only played it a couple times and didn’t notice anything but i run bare minimum to begin with and always have kitten frames. I would venture to guess it’s in how they prettied up the map are adding the extra strain you are noticing.
+1 to keeping an open (option) spot for utilities.
Also, i may have missed it but you can also jump in the pvp lobby and play around with different types of gear, stats, runes sigils. I think you would be able to play with full reaper trait line as well.
… Roaming counts…
I’m with TC this link, I assure you ill be on a power necro most likely if you should happen to smoke me out in the ether.
I haven’t played wow since Lich King and have only been on this about a year, but I find pvp and wvw both pretty fun to play. If for different reasons.
PvP is what i would imagine what a 5v5 would have been like in wow. I dig the gearing one gets in pvp via the amulets and sigil normalization, everyone gets the same stat pool to choose from. It’s a good way to test out new toons as well at max level, see if you like them or not before committing to leveling it up. HoT has the elite specs which vanilla does not, which is a thing but still doable to a degree if you’re not looking to go hard in the paint.
WvW is more gear dependent in that you can just swap out stats like in pvp. Ascended gears are ideal but you can get by with exotics just fine pretty much and getting trinkets (asc. ones) to offset the difference more is pretty easy. More build viability in wvw somewhat, which means you can get by with more non-HoT specs. Can be boring if there is no commander, is pretty server dependent on how the pairings will fair, kind of like the old farm-able brackets in wow when you still got marks from bgs. Solo roaming is an options in wvw which I enjoy maybe more so than the big zergs, though my computer is kitten, game lag in 30v30 “fights”. (on that note the game itself runs pretty well)
*The expansion goes on sale every so often so it may be worth it to wait, especially if you already have Gw2. I miss some of my toons from wow but for me at least this game has been pretty fun and scratches that itch. There is some merit surrounding the common complaints but it’s not total doom, and the devs here, imo, seem to pay a fair amount of attention to the forums unlike what i recall of wow’s fables blue ghost crawler (?) admin post(s) in those forums.
TLDR: I’ve played wow, this is pretty decent imo. Pvp and Wvw can both be pretty fun.
…and yea it’s pretty salty, but it may be a good ham yet.
Hahahahahahahahaha

Take a look at some of those builds to get an idea of whats going. Really i would say jump in hotm and play around with different builds. I like to practice on the beasts and lord dudes (in hotm) to get a feel for live action.
Nice video. Gonna have to give that build spin. I have yet to try the bleeds thing since teh patch.
Fighting 3 anything if they are half decent should roflstomp you, imo.
Finally happened to me the other night. I think i managed to not die from the fall but just barely. Had i not already seen this thread it would have freaked me out no doubt.
Something like this perhaps.

I run with the blinding well(?) if im getting focused hard. It can’t give any hard numbers but i feel it’s saved me a few times. Maybe drop plague for suffer you could be pulling a lot of condi off your team that may put extra pressure on you.
this too
… but really any support at all is good. That just takes allies who understand reapers benefit heavily from even small amounts of support …

Going for the pink llama? I may not totally agree with your tactics, but i can respect the play.
Yes, in wvw gear is a real thing. Gonna want to get full exotic gears if you’re gonna run in the wild.
If someone DC’s in a placement match the round should get tossed out the window.
I ran something like that for a while, though I took CF over US, as i figured the extra toughness was a better option. That and i like to ride the line when it comes to my health at times and i would end up popping out of reaper just after it auto’d me over. Ran a similar build with spite instead of reaper with the necessary changes that was pretty fun as well to play in unranked. Haven’t yet tried it out in WvW yet though.
I ran core necro in unranked before last season, i think i went power. Gave this one a shot and its pretty fun. Not sure exactly what the procs were or if was just chance but i gotta say it was fun seeing people seemingly drop to downed state out of the blue. It is a bit squishy but nothing terrible imo.
Those are some neat changes. I thought it odd that there was a jump pad next to whatever shrine i was capping last night. As for the map hate i thinks a pretty fun map to play around on.
As a guy who plays on an oc’d 1.8ghz dual core, i can agree that lag for me can be an issue. I tend to stay out of huge fights due to this but only when the fights are so large that other people also have skill lag have i noticed that in particular. I’ve also had moments where i’ve melted before i even see the aoe rings beneath my feet. Both of these instances have been pretty rare. That said i do lag out but my computer is probably on verg of crying so i expect that. That said, i’ve also had kittenty internet connection (overloaded node on teh block full of college kids). That caused a serious ping spike around the 9pm pron hour, like clock work.
So the issue may very well be any number of things. The game does have lag issues, just ask google. However there may also be any number of other issues at play be them client side, your pc/settings, or dropped connections somewhere along the line. Tis just the joy of playing games on teh internet. Do a speed test, trace route(?), lower gfx settings, check drivers etc.
tldr: I could very well be the game that is the issue, but unfortunately it could be a fair number of other issues as well.

I’m not familiar with that spec specifically, but i essentially run a similar build but with wells instead of shouts. You’ll find yourself getting the short end of the focus stick usually so prepared to get targeted out and focused. That aside you’re gonna wanna try and corrupt enemy boons, in the hopes that the now boonless (insert class) can then get focused down by your team ( which may very well leave you hanging). It’s a tough life for necros but i find it fun.
I would recommend looking at the procmancer build as well as much of the play tips can be applied here too. For that matter probably be a good idea just too look at the various builds in general to get an idea of how necros function as a whole if your new to it. Again, it’s gonna be tough if you’re new as it isn’t the most forgiving class at times to play, keep at it though and once you start to figure out the play style and class it begins to be a lot of fun when you can actually get over on someone.
Anyhow someone should be along to give you a better idea(s) of what perhaps you should be looking out for.
My recent mental state aside, I swear the last handful of times I’ve qued un-ranked I haven’t even seen the option for coliseum. I would think it’s still in rotation but it appears to no longer be pinned!
Much love, player of game.
^ As for achievements, it’s just a bit more of an already fairly easy grind.
Just please unpin the map, idc if it’s in regular rotation, it’s tired, it needs a nap.
I ’ll bump this as i think its a good idea.
Took me a minute to figure out as well, but on here at least “kitten” is the auto-correct word in place of swears. It does make for some interesting word play though.
Those fights you start strong, half way you have a good lead (50-100 pts) then somehow you end up losing. sad face
I hate when people hit autopilot, go yolo, and lose all focus.
Thing is Un-ranked is kitten as a training ground. How is one supposed to learn proper team mechanics, etc while playing with other people who little to no idea of what to do. One is like Varsity ball while the other is akin to college level play in a decent division. Even that doesn’t really equate as these kids would have a practiced idea of plays and how the game structure is.
From my experience i can and have had some matches (unranked) where if i didn’t know better i would think im beast. That was as a core power necro. I’ve also gone in to try and test new builds but it’s hard to do when your entire team is camping spawn after sweeping all three points off the start. Same goes if you happen to be on the other end spectrum. Unranked is sketchy at best and even worse during the actual season. Some kind of tutorial or training ground option would be helpful here.
Aside from Anet spoon feeding us the answers i see a few options available.
The community could in some way hold training days or times in unranked sort of like the community tourneys but for helping new people instead. However its easier to blame x-kittenty player/players and kitten and moan than to do something constructive.
People could be more helpful during matches and not just be a kitten during the last 2 mins of the game when they realize all their personal awesomeness and tunnel vision the last 8 minutes didn’t magically carry the team to a win.
Also and i think this is something that many don’t realize about team based games random or otherwise, it is possible to have a team of decent to good players, who still play as a kitten team.

I was just thinking about this post the other day.
Personally, I enjoy the thrill of being in downstate…
(just kidding <3 )
It’s a real thing as far as I’m concerned. It makes me smile every time i end with teh rally after going down. That and teh poison well(?) has provided me with much enjoyment.
Just the other day fighting on mid i dropped 3 enemies when i popped it off. I can only imagine the salt blocks rendered from their tears. I died but luckily some of my team had made it back to finish them off in time.
I also, when not getting a foot planted in my kitten , enjoy being underestimated by mine enemies. Sure sometimes i get rofl stomped but i do enjoy laying the smack down on when possible on unsuspecting foes.
Overall i dig the class as a whole with it’s theme and elements. I find it fun to play in all game modes.

This is what i have been playing around with as of late. I’ve swapped out amulets for destroyer and marauder for different flavors. I finally decided to go full stop with the Zerker because I’m already a walking target so may as well make it hurt as much i can when I can. I’ll even run minions from time to time but i never really got in for that style. I doubt it’s close to any sort of ideal but I’ve been having fun with it.
Coliseum should be unstickied
This.
I don’t mind it too much i guess, but I am in full agreement that it should be unpinned and tossed in the random rotation.
It is and it isn’t.
You get soldiers gear with boost? If so that is a decent start. I cant remember what comes in the accessory dept etc, if any. That may be something to look into as well gear wise. The pre-set builds while not terrible are probably not the best bet for WvW. Meta battle’s power-well build or some variant i think is still a good option for WvW. I do run my necro when i WvW which admitiadly isn’t all that much because it can lag my system pretty hard. That and being a clothie/necro I’m squishy enough as is without dying before i even see the zerg’s push.
That said I generally enjoy the class even with all the “issues” so i try and take in stride for the most part. I don’t think that overall it’s bad class for WvW. That being said outside of Pve it can be, and usually is, a hard life for necros in a pvp environment atm.
Hopefully that helps some.

I used to main lock and priest in wow so for me it was a natural crossover. I went in blind besides that, as i knew there would be differences. Aside from that i like the idea of being an at range character with some more tank’ish abilities. That along with the general idea of a necromancer really kind of grabs at my horror fan side of things. I also generally don’t like the style of play of most in your face melee classes.
Started Amber
Ended t5 ruby
314 played
133 won
First season played, just started the game this June.
My win loss streaks were about the same 11 lost, with like a 5 game win streak. SoloQ with a couple random carry over groups tossed in. I have a 92% total (arena)games played as necro, with all but 10 in Ranked played as necro.
