I just finished with the event. I got the items I wanted most, which are the toxic gloves and the toxic mantle. I had very limited time in my busy life to actually complete this.

I’m not going to suggest game design issues since that’s not my area of expertise. I’m just going to explain to you my experience with this event. A little warning, it’s not a good. I rarely post in these forums because I usually trust the minds behind the game, good or bad. But this…. this was really bad.

I started to do this event Friday night. I did the first event and got 25 blooms. I thought it wasn’t that bad… then I realized it was a daily chest of 20 and I only got 5 blooms for the extra. After, I move onto Diessa a half hour later. I’m doing the event and about 20 minutes later, the entire map disconnects because of the server…. I give a big sigh and continue to do events. After the event is finished, I get about 7 or 8 stacks and I get nothing. Not even a daily. I’m pretty upset about that and decide to go to bed because I’m just going to get more mad.

I started doing calculations of how many blooms I need to get what I want. I need 450 blooms. Between my sleep schedule, work, other life errands and the wait time in-between events.. is that even possible? It was actually, but I barely made it. Otherwise I would have had to lost sleep over this. I had to schedule my life around this event over the past 3 days. It’s pretty bad when Anet decides when I can sleep, shower and my grocery shopping. I’m not a hardcore or casual player. I’m more in the middle. If there is something I want, I’ll shoot for it, but at my leisure. If I really want it, I gun it.

This entire weekend was incredibly stressful. Making sure I done everything I need to do in real life. Making sure I got those 20 stacks in game. I had to put some real focus into those 30 minutes to really get those 20 stacks. It was devastating when I got 19 and the event was over. Happened to me twice. Almost a third, but I got it with 25 seconds to spare. But I was still so upset… I had to make sure I was still on track with my goal.

I felt incredibly selfish running around, tagging an event and leaving others behind. I saw down/dead people that needed rezzing but couldn’t because people had to hurry to the next event. When I went down, I tried to kill myself as a thief to position myself in AOE so I can waypoint faster to the next event. How is this a good thing? I remember Colin Johanson saying at the HoT announcement at Pax South, that when someone dies, a flock of people out of no where come and help rez. It’s true. When someone is down on my minimap, I drop what I’m doing to go help them. Not for this event. Not many people did for this event.

What upsets me most is that Guild Wars 2 has been around for 3 years. I love this game as much as you guys do. You have made some really great content and some bad content (which is fine, test and learn). Over those 3 years… You have made so much content and had so many learnings, user testing, research ect. You guys should know what works and what doesn’t! This event didn’t have to be grand or game changing. I can’t even begin to describe what was wrong. I’m sure 15 pages of this thread can tell you guys that. I can’t remember a single time when I was this stressed over an event that you guys made.

I’ve met you guys in person, taken photos, and great had discussions with devs and I defend and commemorate you guys on being such a great company who made a great game. But this really disappointed me and a lot of others. It was not fun.. at all.

My drawing professor could tell how much time I put into a single drawing just by looking at it. I draw 20 different hand poses on a single piece of paper. He was able to point out which one I spent the longest on to make it look really good. I thought I could get away with having kitten the rest. Well. I was wrong. This event seemed like no thought was put into this and was thrown together b.c it felt like something was needed.

Please, don’t let this happen again at this magnitude. Use what works. No need to reinvent the wheel 100 times.

My favorite gw2 moment is probably when my guild [VLK] met up together at pax east in boston and did a mini GvG with Heaven and Earth from China. Even though we lost, it was still really cool to have my guild be shoutcasted and put on a good show!

Lately I have gotten back into sPvP which I have been spending most of my time on. Although every night I make sure I do my daily because I only have a 5 hour period of playing GW2 on weekdays.

Now I don’t mind them combining the PvE/WvW daily with the PvP daily, but they have significantly less ways of getting the daily done. If the dailies are combined, maybe you can overlap some specific dailies to match PvE/WvW with PvP. Like the Level Up daily can work for your PvE level and your PvP level. Another example is kill a certain number of classes, which could also work for WvW.

I hate after having a fun day in GW2 and realizing right before I have to sleep I have to finish my daily..

Although we do need a SEA/early EU skilled guild to cover time between 4am to 10am server time.

From this topic I get the impression that HoD is so stacked that HOD will automatically win silver and everyday is gonna be an endless karma train and opposing zergs will just be bags for everyone regardless of how good you play. Oh but don’t come here because we want it all the goodies for ourselves.

HoD will probably get wiped as we are not use to fighting lets say magumma or FA and high tier servers. We may have numbers but that will only go so far. After a certain point, those numbers need to be skilled and efficient.

After I mentioned CD, SF and NSP has great communities and no queues, we just get hated on more or more transfers. HoD server probably has the worst reputation in the game, since week 1 of TA days, to tanking to bronze, to being a stacked server now.

Well, heres the thing.. HoD is not for you is what he’s saying. The queues are very long now and the server is already pretty crowded. We’ve gained 2 extremely large guilds with 300+ members along with smaller ones that have about 50+. It has attracted quite a number of trolls too including the infamous Ajax Blue.

Please consider CD or SF as they are great servers too. If you’re joining HoD for the bandwagon to first place, probably not going to happen. We’ll get stomped by higher silver and lower gold servers.

This is exciting! And here I thought EB couldn’t get any more entertaining. HoD is just a giant cluster-kitten bandwagon at the moment.

I think you’re wrong. Guilds/individuals have approached us on their own accord. We get one or two good guilds over, and others start entertaining the idea of coming. I personally won’t think about pestering guilds from lower tiers to move over, we’ve been there and know how it feels for others to dig thru an already dwindling crowd. I know many of the HoD vets share my viewpoint.

Talia is right. Recruiting guilds from lowers servers is just a low blow.. Unless the guild approaches us which does and did happen. While we do open arms to any guild, it’s ultimately the guild’s decision, not the server.

None of actually recruited.. You might see us advertising for morning and late night crew but that’s about it..

I wasn’t exactly thrilled that soooo many guilds were interested in HoD because of the massive queue time we will get during the seasons. Although I’m not going to be a kitten about it and say no to guilds whom are really interested in moving.

Well… This is quite a mess. Really don’t feel like cleaning.

I think it’s best we all ignore this post and move on. Kay?

It’s new news for us. But most of us already assumed he wasn’t an SFer. We just didn’t know exactly what server was his home server. I think most who were shocked were just shocked to learn exactly what server he calls home during a week we were matched against that server. That’s all. And the only reason it was even brought up was for full disclosure so those who would prefer to tailor their WvW discussions in the private areas of the site with this information in mind can do so.

Our server has been using the site and the mumble pretty heavily since January. He’s been incredibly professional host so far and has really left the direction and day-to-day social/moderation stuff to SFers. And he’s been incredibly responsive whenever we run into any tech issues with the site or the mumble.

Pretty much how we felt over a year ago when we faced you guys. We thought he was on SF at the time. But yeah, the people of the server really created the culture and he focuses on all the mod and tech stuff. Doesn’t really intervene unless someone breaks the terms or privacy policies.

Also! Do know whenever your mumble goes down, ours goes down too. We aren’t sabotaging you, because all our stuff is on the same server

General consensus among most of SF.com’s users is "Eh, no big deal.

Ahh much like their approach to WvW.

Both sites have been in existence since BWE1. And the SF.com site has been in heavy usage since January. There is absolutely no way this could have been some engineered plan for HoD to gain some sort of advantage. I highly doubt the owner’s crystal ball is THAT good.

As for the rest, I do not eat bait.

That news is so god kitten old. He also owns YaksBend.com. HoD worried about the idea of spies over a year ago when SF kicked our kitten … but nothing happened so it was just some nice guy hosting all this for us.

He spent most of this time on Yak’s Bend but moved over to HoD not too long ago. I’m not him so I don’t have the exact story. The owner is really nice, professional and fair.

The lack of queue times have allowed us to actually play alts without fear of switching toons and being stuck in queue, you have busted the bubble of people that still believed that PPT in WvW is anything more than a coverage measuring device.

Only Tactic I noticed from SF is throw more bodies at an objective. Grave rush as much as possible. When I commanded yesterday in HoD BL. Bay was swiss cheese. Half the doors were down or broken. Defended that sucker so many times and kicked you out equal amount. I will admit, you guys know how to stay tight and swing around to hit from behind. You still died though…

Just one piece of criticism. [WZ] is squuuuuuuishy.

We have PvErs who WvW for the achievement which causes the large blob in EB. We also have bandwagoners who also transfered to HoD because we are probably the top contender for 1st in bronze league.

All the WvW guilds can’t even get into EB because of ques. As Devon said, VLK has commanded in EB and drove that large 60+ blob off a cliff and more then half of them died. Yeah it’s numbers but it’s not all the difficult to kill them. They are mindless PUGs who probably complain in map chat all day.

These numbers didn’t exist 1 week ago. Switch us with NSP or any top contender for bronze league and I’m sure it’ll be a similar situation.

And as far as where was this last week, HoD was tanking on purpose. They were scared that their ques on all four borderlands couldn’t compete in silver league

Geta load of this guy. Think he knows more about HoD then the people on it. Sure we tanked, but honestly if we tried like we did in previous T4 and T5 matchups we have did the same. Have about half the score the winning server does.

FC seems to have a difficult time trying to defend 2 keeps at once. Yesterday after all night of split pushing everything between 2 major guilds, yeah those 2 guilds will eventually turn into 50+ when the only thing left on the map to take is your Bay.

Bllades also means between the BLs. Not just on a single map. We have a guild defending the home land while trying to lower second place’s ppt.

I think the numbers are pretty even. Haven’t seen a major coordinated guild on FC besides [WZ] and [EDGE]

Regardless of their skill or population level, HoD at least still has the balls to keep going. I like ‘em. It’s really surprising they’re not ranked higher ’cause they can really put out the people.

We like to fight. HoD came a long from where it was. VLK’s motive is to kill and get loot really. Don’t hide in our towers and keeps too much. We could use practice in open field combat.

Man I’m sick of this kitten, enjoy your stay at IoJ. Hopefully they will enjoy your company more then we did. [Mend] was great at the beginning but in the end all you did was complain and kitten about how everyone sucks, no help and play how you wanted.

As for IoJ. HoD and ET warns you. We both had the same problem with them. Hopefully you’ll get along better then we have.
