There is really no reason this couldn’t have been our choice via slider.
I have never seen a company purposely make their game look like kitten.
Particle slider would have fixed this and made everyone happy.
Half the charm of GW2 is the visuals.
I don’t see why the hell you would make them look worse for everyone rather than add a slider like they’ve done in the past for character population etc.
Seriously. this should be our choice if we want particle chaos or not.
I love it and a lot of folks are not happy at all with these changes. Eles looks stupid now.
Solid assessment. I think, though, if masteries were tied specifically to the activities they’re related to, people would just be complaining that they have to grind those activities. Whereas now, since it’s all based on gaining experience, you can do anything that gives you experience to train up your masteries.
This is exactly true.
I’m fine with how masteries are. They are account bound, not per character so its OK that the progression is slow.
I couldn’t disagree more than wih OP.
Expansion feels huge and will keep me busy for weeks even after finishing the story.
Wait.
So normally the whole “destroy their mind with a dream” thing would make me kittened as hell but for Sylvari it makes total sense.
I don’t understand how people can’t see how it makes sense in Sylvari terms.
I would say its lack of lore, but we all met the pale tree Sylvari or not.
I loved HoTs story. I consider myself picky and loved it.
I think alot of people don’t realize that alot of the unfinished thing (like glints egg) are going to be likely elaborated in a new living story which will likely be free content.
(edited by Tyrantis.8640)
I absolutely loved the story in HoT.
Also I thought Mordremoths form he took was pretty sweet. It reminded me of Diablo 3 or something.
Heck .. a lot of people already hated Dry Top for that.
Dude. After walking through the maps at first I felt lost, but now I get it hands down.
These maps are awesome and I am able to figure it out now.
I love the exploration aspect of not knowing where I am.
Keep in mind that a lot of the casual players cannot afford to improve, they have limited gameplay time, real life responsabilities, etc and they just want to relax a couple of hours a week for example.
I completely disagree. If you are in HoT trying to unlock high level items then this is exactly what is needed to happen.
This is not supposed to be mastered in a day. I thought the enemies were too hard, but I simply figured out the enemies and now I rarely die.
Is it hard? Yes! It’s supposed to be.
Sometimes you have to know when to run away from a fight. Orr is not a similar comparison… maybe Southsun Cove is more a similar comparison.
You dont see people soloing 2 Vet Karka’s for example. Most wouldn’t waste their time and run to the next mob that they can take out quicker.
Use LFG tool. It is your friend.
Thanks for a great expansion. I don’t have much else to say.
Anet employee? because no one just randomly post something like that in the middle of this hero points rage!!
People that have this hero point rage don’t even know what they are talking about.
You are basically getting a second class and you idiots thought it would be unlocked right away.
It makes no sense.
I love the progression. I want everything right now too, but I always do. Its something that will keep alot of us playing the kitten game which is what we wanted.

I spent £850 on building my new desktop JUST for HoT. Throw in the £35 for the game and that’s too close to £1k I’ve spent.
I feel like I’ve been robbed by this insane 400 HP requirement to unlock my elite spec.
And before all the fanboys scream at me – no, I’m NOT asking for “everything to be handed to me on a plate straight away”. What I AM asking for is a non-ridiculous requirement, such as 200 HP to unlock the Espec.
I KNOW these things have to be earned, but I have a job, and real-life commitments that take up the majority of my time. I can afford to play GW2 for 3 hours per day at the weekends and half that on weekdays. Again, I don’t have a problem with “earning” the content in-game, but I DO have a problem with this ridiculous mind-numbing grind. It’s going to be weeks if not months before I can access my full Espec, and this amount of grind required to unlock the Espec was NOT advertised with the expansion.
Incredibly disappointed by this release.
I feel like you are a complete idiot. This is supposed to be end game progression not something that could or should be done in a day.
now do it 8 more times and youll see what all the fuss is about.
You mean how we got our characters to level 80 to begin with??
Because that is what a this is. Leveling beyond level 80.
Are you kidding me? You don’t want it then don’t do it.
Its an expansion. Things are supposed to be gated.
ANet could have done what WoW does and made us level up AND need new gear for those levels.
Instead we have horizontal progression for our characters and skills and we get to do this with the gear we already have. Its awesome.
Alot of you folks just need to play the kitten ed game and stop complaining if you want your unlocks.
I think that it is a complete joke that people assumed that could unlock everything in a day. Are you joking me?
Just stop.
And ANet don’t listen to these guys. You did the right thing. This will keep me playing for weeks if not months and I’m happy that things aren’t just unlocked. This is an expansion not a living story release.
Of course it is.
I play all of the classes so I tried out Reaper and honestly The Reaper is my favorite Elite Specialization by far.
The lifepool of the reaper is insane, in areas I died with my Guardian and Warrior I saw no issues surviving with the reaper. I fricken love this class.
I might be maining it for quite a while in HoT… it’s just a blast to play.
It seems to me when I first log in that previewing and applying dyes works correctly.
After dyeing my character a few times though, the ‘paper doll’ breaks and pretty much covers the whole character in a single dye that is not representing the dye applied.
In game my character model shows the correctly applied dye, but in the preview window it is wrong.
There seems to be no way to fix this other than logging out and back in.
I’m sure this has been brought up before but here is what I’d love out of an app. I am sure alot of us would love it too.
- I pretty much want to view my character, a 3d model with their equipment that they are wearing.
- I would like to see my build and traits. All items should allow hover over tips.
- Inventory tab displaying inventory and bank tab as well.
I believe some of these are already possible with current APIs but I think that others couldn’t provide this.
Also, I’m worried that for an app like this ANET would need to provide the models and all skins to be implemented into the app somehow.
Knowing this concern how likely is my dream gw2 app ever to happen?
I’m not saying ANet has to dev the app, it would be like it is currently but what is the likelihood of 3D models and such being able to be pulled via API?
Thanks

Yep. I think we just need to keep yelling about it until we know why. Clicking 250 stack of luck really is probably the worst experience I’ve had in an MMO.
Keep in mind this is my favorite MMO.
I really think this is past due. I don’t really have anything to say besides “use all” should be an option.
I don’t mind the crap ton of loot, luck or opening gifts but at least explore this option because everyone in the world wants it.
As the great Shia once told me
Just Do It.
I love it but two things
The traders forum is extremely bare and boring. It feels like you rushed it. Considering all the people that will be in that area its a shame.
Also, You should rebuild the lion fountain back where it belongs.
I disagree with most of the assumptions you make. Eles can be good in a lot of situations, but some classes do it better…
I like the changes a lot. Seperating stats from traits is the best move they have done.
Did they really say the only way to get stats is from armor/weapons?I suspect a fraction of stats will be a bonus to choosing a trait line, similar to how attunement reduction is slotted for Arcane specialization. I wouldn’t entirely rule out stat bonuses, just not the +300 Power for the strength trait line we had before.
they implied the stats you can get on armor will be redistributed to armor.
other non armor bonuses will be given to each line.
for some they will have to make up new ones, like if a line had toughness and vitality, it will probably get some new bonus.
Yeah the current traits will be tweaked to allow flexibility. Some of those traits had stat bonuses like +crit opening strike. I get that. The bonuses are not going to be huge though because of the focus on armor and base stats.

Not at all. Both previews say attributes are all base stat and item based. That is why I wrote this up to begin with otherwise I wouldn’t even care.
Traits are a minor stat modifier compared to gear stats. I like the change, and people have been asking for this for a while. Get good gear tbh
People wanted utilities to be removed from trail lines, but they didn’t ask for attributes to be removed from traitlines…
Also we can’t even save builds right now so guess what?
We have to buy more bag slots and re-specialize and re-armor for every situation to maximize usefulness. What a pain in the a….

Yes.
Base stats and armor.
Which means we will all need to carry multiple armor types…
This would be fine if we didn’t already have an easier way. We already get to choose our attributes right now which is fricken unique.
Number 1: We have to buy how many sets of armor for each class and character? I have 8 characters, 6 of which are level 80. I need to go spend how much gold to buy secondary armor for each situation? That’s crap. It’s convenient for you because more gold = more money for aNet.
Number 2: Bank slots and bag slots for armor. It’s convenient that since my characters will be running multiple armors that I will need to purchase more bank room and more bad slots. More bag slots and bank slots sold = more money for aNet.
Since aNet is not adding multiple build slots, then you will need to store this additional armor in your inventory. This is pretty much garbage to me.
I am sorry.
Some of the news was flipping great. I love a lot of the new ideas for specializations.
One thing I am dead against is that attribute points are only modifiable via Equip.
That is a real crappy move anet.
Alot of us have Ascended items and armor at this point. What about us?
Because of the way the game was built we had to use trait lines to balance out our characters atrribs. Now our only alternative is to use different equip?!
This is garbage and I will tell you why.

So aNet. Kudos for some of the changes. I love the way everything looks, but I really hate that attribs are removed from the specialization trees.
I think it is BS and you should have communicated a long time ago that you were going to be flipping the meta.
I hate that I will need to change gear for different situations. I hate that you don’t let us save builds. I hate that I will be wasted inventory on secondary gear and weapons.
It screws us veterans over tbh.
9 World completions. Two more characters working on it.. WvW maps done on both.
No sympathy.
You don’t want to jump through the hoops, save your gold and buy the legendary outright off the trading post.
It’s not that much more expensive than crafting, especially considering the time it takes to do the world completions, karma, etc.
Not after a legendary, just map completion. Re-read the title of this thread plz.
I would ignore people like this.
Map completion in it’s current form is a pain in the butt and there are a lot of situations where it is out of your hands to get full completion.
Here is a cool little hint. There is a high chance that WvW will be removed from the World Completion requirement.
In a recent POI on twitch, a redditor noticed that world completion required less than is currently required. The amount missing from World completion was the exact amount that WvW accounts for.
Here is the proof.

@punkinkatt
HI,
I am a ranger and I am doing this currently. I did most of it myself (following a few zergs along the way)
I am at the same point that I think a lot of people get. The places I have left are not going to get taken over at all.
Some of them are right near the home base on Eternal Battlegrounds. Another is at the main city of another servers home map (which would not be likely to get hit)
My recommendation is to do what you can and not to sweat what you can’t.
I am at 99% and pretty much just wait for Friday nights to see if server rotation kicks in which will allow me to grab what little I have left.
I figured I would just respond to you since I main a ranger also. Don’t give up! I am not!
Anet won’t help you.
Try following this.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2saub4/how_to_fix_your_updater_temp/
Yeah I followed that and now I am Downloading at 3MB/sec
Anet…. this confirms the issue is on your end.
Anyone with my issue just add this to your GW2 shortcut
-assetsrv 62.154.232.120
Right click your shortcut, goto properties
Where it says “Target” add -assetsrv 62.154.232.120
Your target should now be similar to:
C:\Location of GW folder\GW2\Gw2.exe -assetsrv 62.154.232.120
Launch the shortcut and you are good to go.
Edit: I have been waiting 2 days…. and now my launcher is finished and it only took 2 mins. Thanks for helping me. Anet take notice. This is affecting people.
I deleted the .dat file. I tried other things.
I can download anything else at 2 MBs no problems.
I am sitting here on day 2 with 2382 files remaining.
It has improved since yesterday. Yesterday I was stuck at 0-25 KB/sec.
I really want to get in and play this game.
This only started happening a few patches ago here. My network at home is fine and the only place I have been able to download this is at work.
The download speeds have always been awesome up until a few LS ago.
I would like some help at this point. I know it isn’t my network. I live in MN (if that helps)
I see others complaining on twitter so I know it isn’t me. If aNet needs me to download a log and attach it for assistance, let me know.
Thanks!
I can’t download at home. It has been stuck at 0-4 KB/sec with 2388 files remaining.
It has been like this since around 5pm central. I have restarted the launcher a few times.
This only started a few patches ago for me, but usually it kicks in and starts DLing faster at some point.
Any tips or things I can do to help would be much appreciated at this point. (other languages are just as slow)
I like the idea of minis being a part of the wardrobe. I also understand that allows everyone to keep their pet out can cause stress and game play is way more important than minis.
My issue is that you guys should have let us know that this would be the reprocussion of always enabling minis and asked what we wanted more as a community.
You also shouldn’t have rolled it out until you had a more localized option for the player. What if we could see our own minis, or only a certain amount of minis in an area? I mean you have sliders for everything else…. this should have been one of them.
ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT CREATED MY FAVORITE MMO THE SAME PEOPLE STILL WORKING ON THE GAME, BECAUSE YOU GUYS HAVE LOST YOUR MIND!
I want this new “experience” to get rolled back. Most of the decisions are bad ones and we never asked for it as a community.
People will always complain, sure, but I have been behind you guys for almost every decision.
Level gated skills, gameplay is the exact opposite of what any player wants. If people quit at 13 it is probably because they aren’t MMO players to begin with, not because of a learning curve. I have taught 3 non-gamers how to play the game including my son. In fact, you even level gated the goggles which is something that got him into the game and he is only 10.
Remember ANets mantra was “If it isn’t Fun, then don’t do it.”
What the hell is so fun about these new experiences?
I agree with OP. This sucks. I would rather have it the old way where my mini would show up when i clicked it rather than my Mini being culled.
It sucks.
this sarcastic video says it all.
This is freaking ridiculous and I am not looking forward to buying a new character slot any time soon.
C’mon ANet. You took something that works and complicated the hell out of it and made it worse to those that liked how it was. Why even do this crap?
Objective?
My thoughts are to roll back this crap ASAP. It’s just not better than what it was.
Can we not use this term in blog posts? I think it gives the wrong impression, especially in regards to WvW, and PvP, like you’re supposed to hunt down your fellow players, and kill them for the loot. I think it’s distasteful. The players are human beings, not anonymous, walking bags of loot. Sure, you have to kill people in WvW, and in PvP, but we shouldn’t call it “hunting.”
I prefer to call it “Happy killing every-kitten-thing you see. The blood of the non believers will quench my thirst as I slaughter all humans and animals alike in my quest to destroy the innocent. I will kitten bathe in the red crimson blood of both my foes and friends in my unending conquest towards praising Grenth.”
Can we please call it this from now on?
For me this is important because I want to run these types of builds. They require more thought than your standard melee builds (in most cases) and I really enjoy the thought of bleeding/poisoning the hell out of something.
I have a problem not calling the OP names for starting this tired-kitten thread.
Should GW2 allows for all sorts of build types including healers… sure why not.
The whole point was that Trinity should not be REQUIRED.
Those who perform flawlessly will have 0 waypoint fee and 0 repair fee. Those who dies a lot will rack up a ton of fees.
What?! TONS of fees?
We’re not playing the same game when you consider 6 silver “Tons of fees”
Because they think they are fixing condi damage by nerfing critical damage. Worries me as well. Shallow symptom fixes like this are disheartening.
I do think this is a step towards balancing Crit, but not to bring crit to a level of condi. It’s a crit fix and it is separate to condi in my eyes.
I am prety sure everyone complaining about condition damage are refering to PvE, so let’s focus.
In PvE conditions are weak, they can work sure, but except in some very custom tailored events, conditions are always inferior to sheer berserkerness.
I apologize I wasn’t clear but Briz nailed it on the head. I am speaking for PvE. sPVP and WvW is just fine. Condi hurts other players really well where it seems to me, it takes forever to kill something compared to base crit/power in PvE.
Do you have any novel suggestions for this?
What do you suggest that will make condition viable in dungeon runs that will not make them even more OP in WvW and sPvP?
Make NPC mobs more vulnerable to condi damage as it seems like it is already fine tuned when it comes to players.

Does anyone else find it an issue that Condi Dmg is still an after thought. It is there to be applied on top of whatever overall DMG output you already run.
This makes straight Condi builds almost worthless and the Balancing information we have received from Anet seems to ignore the fact that Condi needs to be fixed as in base increase.
Am I talking out of my butt here folks or am I correct in saying that Condi is an afterthought and serious players will not even bother with Condi in its current form?
Please let me know where I am mistaken if I am.
TL;DR Power is OP compared to Condi, making Condi builds pointless and ANet has yet to address this in any of the information that they have provided.
EDIT: I am speaking for PvE

The attack on Lions Arch serves a pupose because her true goal is also to take out the Pale Tree with her poison to possibly “Awaken” the Sylvari and possibly Mordemoth who might be below the tree.
The attack on lions arch would draw everyone as far away from the tree as possible.
Scarlet has shown to actually be a few steps ahead of everyone and could be smart enough to allow you to believe Lions Arch is her main goal.
I believe she is going to drill right where the thumper is placed in LA. IS it possible Primordus is in the middle where all the leylines intersect? Could there be a two dragon scenario?
You are right that Marjory is smarter than this, but I think that ANet is making you be the leader. The person that helped guide her. Also they didn’t tell of her true intent, but we will know. We also know more about the attack such as the poison option.
They can’t give away the true intent yet because they have something big in store. I think if you look at the evidence, there is something buried deep in the middle of lions arch where all the leylines meet. She is going to drill straight towards it and things are going to change quickly.
Keep in mind the other hint that the clues gave us. She came out as scarlet. They said that only what she already knew went in with her. Whatever scared her was already in her head. Are all Sylvari a dragons minion just waiting to be awoken? Was the pale tree planted over a buried dragon?

Has anyone here played Diablo2? I’m pretty sure that the answer is a big yes. I’m also sure that you guys also remember all the hype that was put into the release of Diablo 3. Try to remember the feeling you had when the game ended up being so dissapointing for the lack of content.
I’m starting to have the same feeling here with Gw2….
I’ve been reading every single Dev post and watching all the interviews about the new patch for the Living Story finale. I could feel all the hype that was being put there.
Guess what, the moment I enter the game, I see treamendous amount of people saying in the map chat that nothing works. Without believing it first, I go check for myself and saddly, the /map trolls were right.
Again that big hype followed by that big dissapointment…
Maybe to everyone here my post looks like a rant, but I simply don’t understand how that kind of thing is actually possible. Being told that there would be ’’awesome’’ content that is actually ‘’awesomely non-functional’’. Even people in my guild are starting to name their character Bugs War.
Sad…
Not long ago I saw that CDI thing for horizontal and vertical progression. This is something incredible. So many great ideas. I simply hope that this time I won’t be dissapointed. I’ve been on Gw1 since forever and Gw2 since the beta’s. I just don’t want this game that has ‘’Way to much potential’’ leave that feeling of dissapointment in me.
Arwen.
Sorry GW1 to GW2 =/= D2 to D3.
GW2 is sooo different from GW1 that I don’t feel it could be like that.
GW2 was hyped but not that much. I really thought that I was over excited because of me vs the media.
For me GW2 lived up to my expectations. I find that being in a guild and having friends that play really help with that.
Hi Anet Achievement team.
I wanted to chime in and say I actually love dailies and it doesn’t seem like too much to me (also a completionist)
My guild loves them as does my brother.
Can you do me a favor? Keep up the good work.
P.S. Add weeklys too!
:)
The OP is right, there are 2 Dragons painted in Scarlet’s Lair, one white and one red. The design of Mordremoth looks exactly like the toxic hybrid that we fought in the Nightmare Tower, and she made an alliance with the nightmare court and the kraits who worship a prophet that will rise from below. She also made an alliance, the Molten with Dredges and Flame Legion, and we know that the Flame Legion planned to control destroyers in order to gain power, yet the destroyers lives near the Dredges. We also see in the lair a mysterious plant that you can find in Southsun Cove, near the karkas new living home. So there’s no doubt that Primordius and Mordremoth are going to be awaken, but a conflict between them will maybe happen and then maybe trigger a war. The last hint is the sylvari personal story at the very beggining, you actually fight an unknown dragon champion in a devastated place alone, and the sylvaris thought that was Zhaitan, yet it’s not.
The white dragon is Jormag and I thought that Red was Primordus because the optional colors available here:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Jungle_dragon
“The Infinite Coil Reactor, where the Inquest are attempting to harness Elder Dragon energies (among other things), is built in a hexagonal structure with six corners, each containing a “zone”: Black, Red, Violet, White, Blue, and Green. Four of the zones (Black, Red, Violet, and White) are known to correspond to Elder Dragons, containing dragon minions, and the under-construction Zone Blue, although empty, contains a pool and occasional idle dialogue implies that it is intended to house a captured minion of the deep sea dragon. Zone Green has a nature theme, including poisonous Death Blossoms, but is otherwise empty."
So if Scarlet is pointing to a White and Red dragon. Perhaps this is Jormag and Primordus.
Maybe she is trying to drive Primordus to the top and actually for her and Jormag to fight? Scarlet might be destroying to save everything which is what crazy people do.
Holy crap. You mean the real reason I’ve been playing GW2 for all this time was the goal to get a precursor?
Here I thought I was playing an MMO… kitten it i’ve been doing it all wrong.
I guess I need to quit since I have around 2k hours and I haven’t gotten a precursor as well.
kitten !
