IME is the software used to change your text input. e.g., typing in East Asian language characters using an English keyboard.

There are a bunch of stupid hotkey snafus that can cause you to change your input if you have IME enabled. alt+shift is the first one that comes to mind.

GW1, Factions/Nightfall both gave you two extra character slots (with each granting 2 new classes); I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect that you can just hop in with the new class.

seems liek anet havent put much content to keep the players playing, any good thing that anet offered for us

The two most successful subscription-based MMOs that come to mind (EQ, WoW) put out less content than ArenaNet does, without requiring monthly dividends. I fear for your long-term memory; you can’t forget very nearly a release every two weeks for the past year and a half, can you?

Offered for you… EQ’s last two expansions required $40 up-front in order to release a quarter of their expansion every three months. You could reasonably expect the same shelf-life of each of their releases as you can from GW2’s, and you’re not paying (($15*12+$40)/4) $51 for every content update. Please have some vision.

You can just go right back in to Glint’s Lair mission without redoing the entire storyline. Sure, it sucks, but alternatively, you could run through all of S2 to get back to Echoes again alternatively. You’re looking at tops, half an hour (if you’re really bad, especially since you don’t have to redo the other achievements along the way) to get back to where you were.

why i can't write in Hebrew??

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Uhaen.9876

Uhaen.9876

The answer is most likely no.

It would cost very much money and take a massive amount of time to translate the whole game.

And even if only for the chat, that would require hiring GMs and support staff that could read Hebrew which would also be a rather large cost.

Since the Hebrew-speaking part of the community is probably very small there is really nothing that can validate spending said money and time for it.

If OP’s just referring to chat, GW2 already has compatibility with Windows language bar functions. You could type in Asian languages since Head Start, but this was disabled on release (for NA server, at least). OP seems to have at least an internet’s worth of English communication ability, and managed to not post the thread entirely in caps lock, so I think we can assume he isn’t asking for a Hebrew-speaking production team just for his own vanity. I don’t really see any cost issues involved, considering the code is already there. The only detriment I can readily foresee is a difficulty in language-filtering every profanity in every conceivable language, but if I really wanted to cuss at someone and let them see it, I don’t need another language to begin with.

Uhaen.9876

It wasn’t that hard to read, especially for someone who started the post explaining that they are a non-native English speaker.

I think a little critical thinking could pave the way for people giving a little bit of leeway for those who want to communicate outside of their comfort zone; like this dude, it took me no more time to decipher the meaning than it would of any 14 year old posting on youtube (although I have a 100% success rate on reading OP’s message, so there’s that to his favor).

I’m thrilled for living story. It’s like an expansion, for free, and if you consider that EverQuest has been pushing it’s expansions in one-quarter increments and expecting money up-front, a significantly better bang for your buck. I wouldn’t mind seeing things you’ve mentioned (new classes/races/weapons could really breathe some more life into the game, weapons in particular could be more exciting than anything else), certainly. Profession skill keybinding wouldn’t take much effort to implement, either. But leave LS alone, this is practically the only game giving out free content regularly without forcing you to pause every 4 minutes for “a word from our sponsors”.

Don’t get me wrong I like GW2 but the RNG in this game is the worst I’ve ever seen.

How many video games have you played? Have you spent years farming for your epic in EQ1? Having gotten 40 people together for the sole purpose of one drop for one individual, wasting hours of everyone’s night, because your item wouldn’t drop in the raid? The drop rates in this game are breezy. I’m not vouching for any sort of time-extended content due to low drop rates alone, but this statement right here is too gimme-it-now to let slide. I understand you’re frustrated, but if this is the worst you’ve seen, you might’ve been playing video games for 84 minutes maximum.

I was hoping for a geeky comedy but it all felt like geek “humor” written by non-geeks writing what they thought was geek humor.

This is exactly how I felt about the show. I can’t relate to it at all, even being the target demographic (or more exactly, the target, since it very clearly is written by those non-geeks who would find these geek moments funny).

Every time I run into someone with a BAZINGA or a ROCK PAPER SCISSORS LIZARD SPOCK shirt, I automatically know that 1.) they have no taste, b.) we have nothing in common, and theta.) I can’t indulge in any “geek” or “nerd” “culture” with them in presence, without being thrashed at with stupid jokes and inane questions like “how is it possible you don’t find the show funny?”, as if ‘funny’ were an objective concept and it defies universal laws to disagree.

I’m using “noob” as an abbreviation to save both you and I the trouble of articulating precisely how bad you are, and how you’re wasting everyone’s time. If you’d rather censor it, I’ll be forced to resort to non-abbreviation.

I can be terse. I can do it quite easily, while still using polite language and completely evading any filter, without actively evading it in the first place. Bad manners are something no censor can ever filter. You’re mistaken in believing that you’ll control thought the way you can control language.

The Aetherblades are multi-racial and use magic. They also carry a weapon heretofore unseen in Tyria: a long and narrow blade that they call a rapier. It has proven quite effective as a weapon, according to those who survived the Aetherblade raids.
