Chalic ofTears UNNACCEPTABLE

Chalice of Tears does not even feel like a puzzle, it just feels like blind jumps and hoping the terrain does not glitch you out. Also I would like to point out that people who do not have a high end PC will probably have even a harder time as they cannot see the terrain as well as people with higher end PC. After anet decided to put both this JP and Wayfayarer’s Henge into the legendary trinket AP, I’m now convinced they just like to troll the player base. smh.

Legendary PvP Armor Thoughts

It’s something us PvP players really wanted and it’s great. Except there’s no bragging rights to it; something that tells people we have Legendary PvP armor.

I feel It should be something of a feet, though perhaps not moreso than showing off our high rank division, but I would like some attire specific change to the Legendary armor. Maybe a full set puts out a dim glow? Battle stance shoots out a burst effect similar to The Ascension?

It’s a Legendary armor after all. It can’t just.. be there. People should feel and look proud while wearing it. Instead, we forget that we have it on sometimes.

Please add some form of external expression. No new titles please!

I understand that the new chest in wvw will have the new currency but it really infuriates me that I have thousands of PoF and they are almost useless. At least give the players a chance to exchange at some kind of rate to get the new currency. I have 26 toons all specced out and elites so so PoF is coming out with new stats, gear, runes etc and my PoH are pretty much wasted now. I knew they would introduce a new currency but wow now I have to do all that over again. I hate pve to no end.I only do what i need to do to get to wvw. No interest at all in it. All I love to do if fight other players in wvw. Spvp….limiting and a bit boring but not without its benefits but I learned all my toons in wvw and how to fight except afte the tome boon lol. My point is this sure we can use the PoH for stuff still but with the new expansion whats the point? I can just rip them from my toons and transfer them if I want them. All my toons are geared the way they are for the current builds. I know things changed when the new expansion launches but now I have to start all over again as if the current currency no longer has any currency.

Bottom line is I am miffed they didnt have some way to convert the old to the new at a significant ratio at least. Or at least allow PoH to be used to purchase the new runes, sigils etc. I never did like the pve portion of HoT and to do it all again……simply not interested. Ill wait until launch to see if anything changes. Guess we will see……

I would be highly surprised if all of the mechanical PoF elements were available immediately through tokens earned in wvw before the expansion. That’s a real good way to get the pve’ers to rage and from a design perspective I doubt Anet wants to introduce an element that’ll have a good chunk of their players ignore all of the content required to earn all of the new rewards and instead earn them instantly.

That said I hope they allow all of the new content to be eventually obtainable through wvw with the existing tokens and not a new type of currency.

If u go on vinetooth with 5 people it will be super ez. The problem is both health and defiance bar scale with people. When 9/10 dont know what cc is then vinetooth becomes a problem. It is not a boss issue but a l2p issue. With PoF release there will be less people doing AB so vinetooth will get much much easier.

Also if u are about to do vinetooth dont ever….ever pop a tag. Less people is always better for that event.

GIFT OF BATTLE

The history is more complex than people have been saying. It’s true originally we could buy the gift of battle with badges of honor, But it’s also true that originally we had to complete all 4 WvW zones as part of world complete, which depending on your server could sometimes take months.

Back then badges of honor didn’t come in achievement point chests, so we had to get them by playing It’s a pretty good bet you’d have needed 8 hours of playing in WvW to get a legendary when the game launched. Achievement point rewards like badges and not having to do map completion in those zones changed the landscape.

It’s not any harder now than it was at launch.

It’s been like this for AGES now; The fact you didn’t know this up to this point, shows your inability to keep up to date (Unless you’ve been away – But that is what a search is also for)

It doesn’t take long at all to get the GoB .. Jump in and do 2-3 dailies and over time you are done..You don’t even need to zerg if you don’t want to.
Start GoB when you first start your legendary and you’ll get it done before you get everything else (Yes, this would require people to research every part of the legendary before they start – shocking)

We are heroes. This is what we do!

WvW compositions are not random groups, they come from tests done by guilds dedicated to WvW. Most WvW guilds have their own build sheet and composition.

Although, what I see the most experienced do, is not to kick. Kick is unnecessary unless actually Zerg is full 50/50. I do not particularly like these exaggerations and ultra perfectionists.

Elite guilds are necessary and do a great job, but the Pugmanders are what really make the WvW community, and especially the server, grow.

The impact of these compositions is great. One morning for example, the zerg I was in, was losing all battles, so we noticed that by distraction there were not enough compositions of the classic 2xguards + the rest. so we call the players to log in their guardians, and so we rebalanced the compositions. and the battles improved.

You yourself are the biggest beneficiary of this “science.” If your zerg (even though you outside of squad) performs better, your chances of surviving a blob collision are better, and ofc bagfarm.

- The most potent and most-common small-scale classes aside from cases where things end up totally overpowered tend to be ones which are absolutely useless in zerg fights. When was the last time you saw a commander ask for rangers, thieves, or mesmers (outside of a veil/portal/blur bot)? They’re basically useless in big-scale encounters, unfortunately by design.

To give a little bit to the mesmer class here.
I’ve never been turned away from an organized group for playing a support chrono.

Boon sharing resistance is still pretty important, especially since everyone’s boons end up corrupted most of the time anyway.

Not to mention dropping gravity wells deep on a group’s back line can flat out stop small organized groups from standing a chance against your larger, less organized zerg.

I haven’t been in T1 in the past few months, so maybe things have changed, but last I knew, since the changes to boon sharing the mesmer was no longer included as part of the meta which is why I excluded boonsharing from the list.

Upped usage of necromancers and condi reapers and the likes for mass corruption pushed them hard out of their prior purpose AFAIK.

There’s a degree of utility which any profession can bring – I frontlined a bursty power thief meant for target prioritization/pin sniping in most groups up until this last patch which removed my build from the game – but there does come a point when people need to understand “yeah, I’d generally be more useful on a guard if I were equally as good on it.”

The mesmer has the ability to make some pretty big moves in highly organized groups, but historically so have thieves and mesmers. Most open raids won’t kick by profession choice – it’s why they’re open raids – and always want you playing your best, whatever profession that is. That doesn’t mean they aren’t secretly hoping for more of what’s on the top-end of useful.

Afaik it’s still reasonable to bring mesmers. Generally boons don’t last long enough that the change is going to screw anything over anyway.

Not that I’m on a T1 server, because frankly, I prefer my 20 man organized havoc groups over constantly running a blob.

20 man organized havoc group. Think for a second about what you just said.

“Roaming” is not needed or wanted in WvW, and “Roamers” won’t accept that.

Scouting is needed, Camp flipping and Yak guarding is needed.

Having a cheese gank build to crap on people running back to a fight and doing a video with bad dubstep is not needed.

Since when?

I roam, I flip camps, and if I am passing a yak caravan that’s close to it’s destination, I make sure it gets there. Just because everyone in WvW isn’t in a zerg spamming #1 on their keyboard, doesn’t mean they’re not doing anything.

Plenty roamers will spot numbers and do a map call-out, plenty roamers will clip off a few people at the end of a zerg, or people running back, lessening the numbers of the enemy.

Just sounds like your salty about being one of those people who get dumped on by a roamer, because all you know about WvW is pressing #1 on your keyboard and blasting fire fields…

And then here comes dead-eye with the ability to remove reveal, the only real counter to stealth……

There should always be a counter to stealth, its the most powerful mechanic in the game. Allowing a class to complete negate its counter when its needed most is just bad design.

The second most powerful ability is movement, something the thief could always use to counter reveal.

Now its just flat out stupid with the teef now keeping its stellar mobility and the ability to cancel out reveal. I see thief’s taking dead-eye just to run builds off that premise.

There will be collections, full armor sets, new weapon skins, bounties, achievements, etc to earn. If you’re going to ignore all that by only doing the story line and the events and then leave then of course the expansion will feel light on content.

Be careful what you ask for

GW2 capture the essence of gear without giving you the illusion of content and progression. Other game will bring you higher level cap, better and stronger gear that will then be mandatory, illusion of progress and content. Illusion of content because the better gear will make older content meaningless and obsolete, and illusion of progress because you were strong enough to do the end-game content, but then you need to re-grind your gear every new update just to actually reach your previous capacity as end-game toon. GW2 doesn’t provide such illusion and let you keep your power level, and doesn’t let old content become obsolete. The point for those hard to get item is in the rarity itself, not illusion of progression.

Not going to change. And if it did, I would absolutely leave the game. Many of us came here to get away from gear treadmills. When ascended gear was introduced you should have seen the kittenstorm on the forums.

Many people left at that time because they assumed more tiers of gear would come into the game and that’s not why we play this game.

If your friends want gear grind there’’s plenty of games out there…pretty much every MMO. Let’s have one that the rest of us can play.

If I’d wanted gear grind I’d have become a watchmaker.

See this to me is where the disconnect comes in. OP hasn’t played the game for years, comes back and expects to jump into end game content and do well immediately.

Many who have been here all along, didn’t find HOT as difficult. Didn’t have problems soloing the stories. Taking years off and jumping into end game content should be hard, and HOT was always meant to be end game content.

Other than that, I thought it a fair review, so good job OP.

The problem is you are not fixing the population imbalance issue, just making it look like it is fixed on the scoring level. That is not gonna make people feel any better. It doesn’t feel good to be smashed by a blob twice your size everyday. It doesn’t feel great to know that your server is full thus unable to recruit more to handle that blob that smashes you everyday. The actual gameplay is much more important than the scoring itself.

GW2s most prestigious costume?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Danikat.8537

Danikat.8537

Just for fun I set myself the challenge of putting together GW2’s most prestigious costume – all the rarest, hardest to obtain skins and most expensive dyes together. Surely a thing of glory to behold!

My attempt is below and since a lot has changed since I last tried this in 2014 and I think there’s many more options now I’d love to hear your thoughts and maybe even see some alternate takes on it.

Featured in my attempt is:

  • Celebration Hat (free give-away during the headstart weekend)
  • Glorious Hero’s Shoulderguards (place 1st in a PvP tournament)
  • Perfected Envoy Jerkin (legendary armour)
  • Fire God’s Vambraces (30 Hall of Monuments points)
  • Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s Legguards (1900 WvW rank + purchase earlier versions)
  • Invisible Boots (about 2,000-3,000 gold)
  • Eternity (combine both other legendary greatswords)
  • Warbringer (legendary WvW backpack)

Dyes are Permafrost, Shadow Abyss, Scorched and Bloody Red with a combined price of about 1,550g (and that’s using buy orders).

I don’t see the point. Other legendaries iirc have to dump a ton of gold on arbitrary stuff that serves no purpose at all other than to be a gold sink. Atleast here you still get something, even if you don’t see yourself using it.

So long as the costs are more or less in line with contemporary legendary pieces, i don’t see the problem.

Grow up, this is a luxury item, luxury items have significant costs to them. The fact this is 100% earnable in WvW is amazing. You conveniently forgot how the fractal back piece has huge gold costs (500 ectos) and that the PvP one requires some pretty boring grinds achievements and is massively time gated. Also how are you spending more money than you’re making in WvW?

The only way that is possible is if you’re a commander springing for superior siege all the time which given the topic we know you are not.

Food is bought with badges, when you need siege in a pinch you can use proofs, a decent sized guild can get tones of upgrades from skirmish chests and you can get more resources that you need for WvW. You get ascended crafting materials as drops and T6 mats from the mist warped bundles and tons of lower tier mats from salvage. It’s almost impossible to lose money in WvW if you’re not a commander.
