You both have some good points and i guess it is up to the devs to make a statement. Whether or not shadowstep works as a teleport, teleport still does have the same issues. If teleporting does not teleport but moves you fast to the target location, then there is no bug and it works (as missleading as it may seem) as intended. Until then it stays in the list.

I know I can be confusing and hard to understand at times :P . My Idea was to show bugs that happen on interaction between players and classes. If all class intern bugs would be posted here the list would explode :P. If however this would only happen in PvP or is tied to an action taken there, than it is a bug that i would add to the list. I know that the bugs that relate to classes also happen in other game modes, but aren’t as obvlious or do matter in the same way. It is therefore much more frustrating to encounter them playing vs other players. Sorry for the confusion

In a Fire field, activating Earthquake to Churning Earth too fast does not grant might stacks.
Not sure if intended, using Churning Earth in a Fire field instantly displays “Area Might” but doesn’t apply Might until the end of the animation. Sometimes you get disrupted and don’t get the Might stack.

is this an pvp only issue? The purpose of this thread is to collect bugs that concern pvp. If it is a bug that is class specific on all gamemodes, you should consult the specific forum.
With classes I meant intercession bugs, that accur when skills or traits interact with each other. As an example I: some time ago there was the so called “dancebug” it occurred when you were cced (mostly taunts) while using a movement skill/stunbreaks. The bug would cause that you were stuck in place and could not move unless you used /dance or movement skills.

I have seen some bugs out there, that somehow barely to never find their way to the forums. I don’t know if Anet does delete this kind of posts or if ppl are to frustrated to post them since some of them are old / class related. Anyhow I want to try to make a little list with all the bugs we can gather. Remember to post bugs. Do not flame that some skills are broken or op. If you are not sure if it works as intended, please indicate it in some way. Maybe the devs will shed some light on it.
There are 3 types of bugs:
- environment/map
- classes/skills
- equipment
Leading as an example:
Maps:
- on eternal coliseum a dh can pull you in the wall on the side notes. The place is at the start of the ramps leading down right next to the capture point. You then can’t leave the wall other than being killed or relog.
Classes:
- teleporting/shadowstepping over dh traps activates them and teleporting over ToF deals dmg to the player. [unsure/see below]
- teleporting out of dh elite/bow rings/hammer ring knocks down the player. [Don’t know if this is intended, since it has been around for some time now]
- blocking an attack that also has a cc will cause to block the dmg but not the cc. This occurs when your block only blocks 1 attack. Example: Mesmer scepter 2 blocking guardian shield. [This behaviour has been around since hambow-meta. So I don’t know if it works as intended.]
- DH tether pulls enemy into air causing them to take/die to fall dmg.
- Any AI called by mes while they are in downstate completely ignore stealth and continue to attack stealthed enemy.
- Druid staff AA animation sticks to target indicating where the target is for the whole match, even if enemy went in stealth, is on other side of the map, even when druid is not actually attacking nor can target the enemy.
- Dodging into chronomancer clones that run at target to shatter doesn’t cause them to shatter but actually ignore dodge and shatter after dodge is done (caused mainly by 200% run speed). Dodging into shattering clones from core build does cause them to shatter into dodge and not ignore it.
- DH traps (ToF specifically) have bigger effective range than actual visual indicator.
- Daredevil staff Vault can be used over Spectral Wall to ignore the fear. Meanwhile this can’t be done with any other wall in the game (i.e. you still get CCed if you try to Vault over any other wall).
- Druid Staff AA has a coefficient that’s 20% higher than the coefficient from the tooltip.
Equipment:
- rune of the berserker does not seem to give the 5% bonuses
- sigil of force does not seem to give the 5% bonus
- Krait runes 6th bonus ignores dodges/evades

Fighting them leaves small windows of opportunities. First question where are you fighting then? On or off point?
Off point: kite them
On point: is it yours or the enemies?
You will not be able to hold the point. And standing in traps isn’t something I would recommend.
If it is a enemy controlled point and the dh is already on it then use GS 2 to activate the traps. Beware as the traps might be of cool down. Always try to trigger traps with your illusions.
Burst the dh until it drops traps/heals and blocks. Basically it’s a killing or be killed and you have to always to burst him several times due to blocks and heals.
Interrupts work well.
Try to kite them and get a feel for when to engage in close combat (traps on cd)
Beware for the throwing animation, that is it’s F3 pull. Dodge or sw2 it. If you fail then watch out for it laying traps, get illusions out and f4/f5 or los behind something to avoid dieing.
Beware the channelled bow shot as well as the knock back shot (you can not block this one…) all forms of cc is as deadly for you as for them.
As for blink: if you are caught in it’s bow 5 and you blink away you will be knocked down at your target position. If you use blink over the crossing-trap (forgot the name) then you will get dmg!
Once in close combat stun and burst it. Give it your all, but remember it might not die due to blocks invul or traps cc.
If you can’t win run and +1 somewhere else.

I think it’s the classification of consumables. It’s the same for other gamemodes. Some are blocked in different areas. While I don’t know the exact background my best guess is, that for instance the Celebration Booster has not the same classification as the exp. Maybe celeb is some kind of buff food or transformation or whatever (by coding) and therefore it is blocked in matches. It doesn’t always make sense

I think you did not get the concept of Play to win …
It’s fun to see ppl complain and demand that the condition/hybrid players should change their playstyle. While you at it, could you ask for blocks, evades, cc and all forms of dmg to go away. Then pvp will be truly nice and cosy. Maybe we need more pink and fluff in the arenas.
To be serious: are you trying to win or just complaining about everything in the matches? Don’t make rules that restrain yourself. I for one found, that it doesn’t matter if my enemy is condition or power dmg based. Winning or losing depends on the knowledge and skill of the enemy. (1 vs 1 against a mesmer is a pain for some)
How do I know when someone does not bring the necessary knowledge to the fight?
Remember how PU on mesmer was a thing? Had ppl complaining I was PU even though I wasn’t even running chaos. And now ppl state that I am playing a condition tank, even though I use sinister. With that kind of ignorance sadly I can’t argue, because they will not see the errors of their way. Ignorance kills the bad players, not conditions.

VitalityIt will take so much times, that “comp” will get 5 condi users:
Mesmer, Warrior, Reaper, Engi Condi, Revenant Condi.
The faster team to condi burst win.

In case someone really thinks that they will burn to death by the only significant change to the mesmer torch:
It’s 3 stacks for 3 seconds every 30 seconds. I think the iBerserker does more dmg.
(On a side note, the dmg output by the phantasm is the same: double the stacks half the time, so no change there)

Blocks shield against direct damage. The conditions that were blocked were only because they were part of the direct damage. Conditions can still be inflicted in many other ways WITH THE BLOCK IN PLACE using on-swap sigils, transferrence, unblockable attacks and boon corruption. Blind doesn’t do much. Aegis can be corrupted and stripped.
It’s funny how ppl confuse dmg with abilities
I got skill A, that deals direct dmg unblockable.
I got skill B, that deals condition dmg blockable
By your logic skill A is less skillful, since it can go through blocks. Both require to press 1 button…
As for boonstripping: ever fought a Power-shatter? I would think it is better at stripping boons than condition shatter
And lastly: I have to take inspiration (defensive line; condition cleanse/heal since it helps against both power and conditions(soft cc included)) on my mesmer independent of the build. I also have to take either Chrono or duelling to generate illusions. After these I can choose to go condition(illusion line) or power (domination line). As you see it is a false statement to think that all condition builds can take defensive traits and power just has to go all out on dmg. On a side note I want to add, that my hybrid mesmer (main stat condition) runs with a sinister amulet (16k) and therefore has less hp than marauder(21k) or equal berseker(16k) power shatter.

Condition damage is at the same level of direct damage. They both need a skilled player to be really strong, they need to hit the enemy to be effective and there’s ways to mitigate them both, in different ways.
They’re two different ways to inflict damage and work with different mechanics, but they’re both strong.Oh.My.God. Did you just say Condition build and Power build are on the same level ? Oh.LORD.
Let’s me prove to you most condition build are easier to play than power build.
Mesmer: Power shatter vs. Condi Shatter
Power shatter relies on F1 shatter, blurred frenzy, Mirrior blade combo, and phantasmal berserker. If you can dodge any of these 4 things listed above, that’s a whole lot of damage you’re avoiding. (require set-up, reaction based fight)
Condi shatter: All F abilities apply torment and confusion. Spam shatter. Tell me what do you dodge when you fight against a Condi shatter mes? what are the big skills you need to dodge ? ( no set-up require, cool-down based fight)
Gladly. Shatter is shatter, you have to avoid the illusions. You have to dodge the 3 illusion shatters.
On a side note:
1. I main mesmer and I only use F1 and F2 to deal dmg. I need my F3 to interrupt skills/rezz/stomps and if was to use my F4 offensively…. that would not be practical….
2. You have to set up Illusions, the Shatter mechanics do not change just because you are using conditions. Also one condition hardly kills you. So as a condition dealer you have to use cover-conditions and apply more than one kind of condition. (That’s why burn guard isn’t viable). That’s what I call setup.

On power: one skill does instant dmg
On conditions: one skill does dmg over time
If you bring cleanses you can migrate that dmg… and you can still dodge the skill… so I fail to see the the problem.
4. Still on mesmer: I see so many that attack into my scepter block and then run around like a headless chicken. It’s good to know what effects conditions have.
5. I think most are annoyed about the fact, that they are already dead when get hit by a killing blow, but life still isn’t at zero. In power battles the other knows he is dead when the skill connects. Most just don’t like bleeding out.
6 . I hade but one pvp game, where I received more condition dmg than direct dmg…

Condition shatter mesmer has a completely different playstyle than power shatter. Here is why:
Power mesmer:
- set up your 3 illusions so that they are placed near the enemy
- press f3 and f1 (refill illusions to 3 in between if necessary)
- dmg
- if target is dead stop here
- kite the target from range while waiting for cd
- repeat
Condition Mesmer:
- set up your 3 illusions so that they are placed near the enemy
- press f2, f3 and f1 (refill illusions to 3 in between if necessary)
- dmg
- if target is dead stop here
- kite the target from range while waiting for cd
- repeat

So why would you dodge AFTER dmg of any sort is applied? I see so many ppl here that know exactly when to avoid direct dmg (when it’s applied) yet they do not know when to avoid condi (hint: when it’s applied). So that argument is rather weak.
as for being cced and then die to dmg/ being focused by multiple dmg sources: it doesn’t matter if it’s condi or direct burst, you will probably die since you can’t avoid all applications either way.
I always check my stats after each game and the times I got more dmg through conditions was once(by 20k dmg) since season 1!

Been a while since i lvled(luvs my tomes of knowledge). That said, anything with power will do. Take sword/X and gs. Mesmer becomes strong with traits. For pve I recommend starting off with Domination.
As for gear, take the things you get on your travels. There is no need to update every lvl. I usually went for new gear ever 10 lvls (mostly karma stuff).
Leveling mesmer can be very frustrating at times.

1. What happens if ppl think you are the noob and you get punished? Why do you have problems finding a team if you are so godlike? Get your own pantheon with 4 others and rule the world! So scrubs like me aren’t forced to underperform so extremely.
2. You are hitting the spot: all toxicity is the fault of the noobs! How couldn’t I have seen the light before? Not the ones that flame all day long in chat are creating an toxic environment.
You seem to be an ignorant person, that get “facts” like they did in the 1940s in germany (99% where did you get this; show your research) . With that mindset I would recommend that you should stop playing pvp, since noone will be as good as you and you will be forced to flame every match.

You can not force others to take advice. Write it once in the beginning. If they listen it’s fine, if not then show them how is done. Maybe they will see the what you are about to do. Communication is the best way to success.
But keep in mind:
1. The others might have their own strategy. So they will disregard yours. (Happens to me a lot, some will give seemingly good advice, but ithe doesn’t fit my playstyle/build)
2. Never flame!

Condition Immunity – this is the Resistance boon so more access to it?
Condition Reflect – Mesmers have Arcane Thievery which transfers conditions to a target and Necros have something similar I think.Personally, I’d rather see more access to Resistance but not at the Warrior level.

Mesmer have strip. Necro has corruption. Either way, resistence as a condition control tool is useless them.
Could you please explain what strips condition mesmer/chrono uses? The only “effective” thing I can come up with is nullfield and I get the feeling it isn’t all that powerful if you know how to leave it.

More mesmer QQ’ing? Every season it’s the same sob story. I get it, Bunker mesmer last season was bad. But we are far from that now. After the way to many nerf that mesmers has incurred in the last year alone, we are left with one viable build. ONE! & the only reason why the class is surviving pvp is not cuz of the merc amulet or the inspiration line or the high skill level that mesmer players are in. It’s cuz none of you keeping the pressure on the mesmer. It’s way to easy to kill it. You complainers are just to use to have to deal with mesmers that does no damage & that you can deal & dispatch with last. With no consequence. I’m sorry, but i feel the game more balanced then ever since this off season we are having more & more close matches then disparities.
Mesmer takes no skill to play. It is not the profession of “trickery and chaos theory”, it is the profession of “I’m not good at any other profession and I want to annoy you”. Mesmer has the reputation of being “whoa man, it looks so trippy, it must be hard to play!” but we both know that’s bull kitten. GW1 mesmer was hard to play, and I miss it dearly. I probably don’t have as many hours on GW2 mesmer as you, but I have 623, which is a pretty good chunk of my life. I can’t even play it anymore, it’s so easy and stupid. Also, it’s impossible to keep pressure on mesmer when there are 3 of them on every team and no, it isn’t easy to kill.
First off: 623 hours isn’t that much I have about 3.7k hours on mesmer and think that isn’t that much either
Scnd: if you dislike the way meta chrono plays, go and try another build. Maybe make something that you feel skillfull with. Noone tells you to play meta!
If you want fun, assign traitlines to the numbers of a dice, then roll it 3 times more fun? Roll dice for weapons, skills and traits! There is no need for meta if you want to have some fun

I think the Mesmer hate comes from an early /age. When you are new to the game and get confused by all these clones. It then continues when you face Mesmers/chronos with higher skill, they rip you apart. You try your hardest, but they seem so strong.
I am talking about people in that stage where they wouldn’t stand a chance, no matter what build you have as a mesmer/chrono.
It is then the hate starts growing.
Now give that class you already feel an aversion to some nice and new gimmicks and the hate is real. Maybe the 2x moa is strong in teamfights. But there are counters, that one blind, that one Aegis, that one dodge, that block, that Invul, that target loss, that stun…
I have seen people claim, that Chronomancers (mesmer is the core spec Noone seem to bother about, but yet some are doing just as fine with core and without moa) are cheez and unskillfull. They claim that chronos are only rolling their faces over the keyboard. And still i get the feeling that many who make these claims would have lost to that mesmer/chrono either way.

@op: there are several things you may need to look at
1. Did you crit? (This may seem a stupid question, but then again there is weakness)
2. Did you backstab or did the stealth run out just before?
3. What illusions and how many did the Mesmer have? (There is a passive on chaos that reduces dmg by 3% for each illusion; haven’t seen someone using chaos in ages though)
4. Did you really not hit the Mesmer with full force? (Maybe he had cs up, you killed him and the cs progged?)

Shockaura is really strong, it interrupts many mesmer skills (such as blurred frenzy or even nullfield). Cc in general are very effective.
My best advice is: play the class yourself, see what weaknesses the different builds have and adapt your main class accordingly. (I guess that’s what they refere to when they say “l2p”)

What cleanses do you use? Chaos or inspiration? Weapons?
In general: wait for the opponents burst, then cleanse (if you are running nullfield then you can cast it if you see the burst coming) try to get the others cleanses on CD and gg

For at least 2 years I have been playing sc/t and sw/x (before chrono x = pistol, after hot X = shield). In my opinion sword and scepter work well together and the dmg on a hybrid setting is nice. I mostly play pvp and solo-roaming in wvw. I like the “in your face” playstyle.

Right now there is no meta. All are testing and tweaking. So it is a good time to Start pvp.
I play hybrid – shatter chrono right now. (Mesmer main since Start and all; 3.something k hours)
Just try the builds that seem fun. See if they work for you. The most important thing is map – Rotation anyway. Your build can be the best, but you still loose if you are in the wrong place the hole time

I saw it the other way around. Take the idea of making phantasm special (with buffs and visual) and the idea of yourself Becoming a phantasm. So instead of having butterfly wings somewhere beside you, you get to have butterfly wings on you. You enchant yourself. (One phantasm at the time; a new phantasm overrides your current)

Sometimes it is because of lag, try range dmg the downed Player to see where he/she is. Usually the Player isnt that får away, try to position your self “between” the location and where your attacks connect. Doesnt always work, and can also happening when rezzing. ..

Wow, to be caught in 30 seconds of GW you need 5 chronos, that coordinate perfect. (Each well being 3 seconds) also you would not be having a single stunbreak (break out of stun and dodge out of the well). Further you would have all chronos on one point, that means 2 points are free for the taking…

My guess is that the 2.5 and 0.5 are the points capped. The enemy in this case has 2 points and the .5 is a half-capped. Both have .5 on that Point so there is a teamfight going on there. The op now wonders if he/she should join a fight there or try to decap somewhere.
Now second part is somewhat hard to figure out, either the enemy or his Team are 4 on that contested point. To see it from the worst possible perspective: his Team has 4 vs 3 enemies fighting. Should he/she now go and try to decap resulting in a 2 vs 1 or join his Team and loose?
I would say, it is highly situational and depends on your class/build as well as the enemies. Also the map may have objectives (Like temple) that can turn the tides.

I would enjoy to see a real change to professions if you equip an elite spec. I will use Mesmer/chrono as example since this is the only class I play. If you choose to use chrono, then all specializations are balanced around that. Also one could only use domination, duelling, chaos and inspiration. Illusion would then be the Mesmer “elite-spec” and define how the other specializations play. They said that elite-specs will change the way you play entirely… with chrono i do not feel like a new class, just as a mesmer with a few new gimmicks.
Balancing would be much easier that way too: chrono to strong with a certain trait? Change it without effecting the core mesmer.
And please make a pve/pvp skill split!
also i hoped for chrono being more of a time manipulator. Change the shatter, because a chrono doesnt only manipulates your mind, but time it self. (Like stealing a skill that the enemy used in the past , redirect it to the now and dmg the enemy )

I do not see how this pushes Chronomancer out of the meta. A mesmer can contest points (not capped and 1 vs x) for long enough. Soon there will be New builds: support, chronorupt, chronoroamer and so on. Then the cry train will be howling for nerfs again.
