Is this going to be fixed today?

gw2skills.net doesn´t seem to be displayed correctly. Am I the only one?

One key difference is that you can strafe kite in WoW without losing movement speed. You can also “jump-shot”. Which means that you can turn around quickly in a 180° angle while running away from your pursuer. In GW2 jump-shots are not possible. And strafe kiting slows you down. But it´s kind of in the middle. Your still faster while strafing in comparison to backpaddling.
In GW2 kiting is a whole different story. It´s possible, but you need to do a weapon swap in time to gain distance. Which also means that your losing DPS.

While levelling my warrior alt I managed to kill a level 80 thief in a 1vs1. I was lev. 35-37, I don´t remember exactly. I think it says more about the player in front of the screen than the class itself…
Charrov – Engineer
Step 1: Equip full Berzerker gear
Step 2: Trait 6/6/0/2/0
Step 3: Slot Signet Of The Hunt, Signet Of Stone, “Protect Me!”, Troll Unguent and Rampage As One
Step 4: Equip Longbow and Greatsword
Step 5: Find a victim
Step 6: Pop Signet Of The Hunt and use Rapid Fire
Step 7: Victim tries to retaliate, pop Signet Of Stone and proceed to /laugh
Step 8: Pop “Protect Me!” and continue to /laugh while ticking between 10 and 18k with Rapid Fire every 8seconds.And that’s not including Counter Attack (which means a total of 16seconds of invulnerability with signet and shout) and Hunter’s Shot and Point Blank Shot to buy time for Rapid Fire to be off cooldown.
If you’re full glass you can kill people fast but you die fast yourself, I see how that’s balanced. But with 16seconds of invulnerability and being able to tag people from 1,500 range… I don’t know, I’d borderline this at OP. I had no trouble killing a Guard and a Warrior 2v1 earlier and I was full glass. Killed the Guard before he could even get within spitting distance and when the Warrior got close I used Point Blank Shot, Hunter’s Shot, popped Signet Of Stone while using Rapid Fire, he got on top of me and did 0 damage because of invuln, popped “Protect Me!” and I finished him with greatsword. Seems a kitteneesy to me.
Conditions?

Can anyone confirm this? Just tested it in SPvP. Could not crit a zerker thief for more than around 800 (while running zerker amulet). If so, why do they stealth nerf again? Would be nice to hear something official A-Net!

Greetings to the Orden de Sombras people we were fighting against this night. My apologies though for interfering with one of your thieves through using “Sic `em”, while he was duelling our thief. He´s quite new to the profession so I could not resist the urge to help him : P

Ranger hands down….he says struggling to keep a straight face.
Rangers are probably close to the strongest 1v1 class if not the strongest.
The only thing right now that gives me a run for my money is a Necro.
The Necro of course has trouble vs other classes..
I find this hard to believe. Im not by any means calling you a liar… just with the mass complaints in the forums etc and overall moral of the class would say otherwise.
Unless you know something about this class that others dont know. I dont think skillcap can be a reason since engineers dont have the same issues as rangers.
I would love to see some more fights vs theives and engineers in your videos
I’ll flat out tell you the major difference I see between me and other BM Bunker Rangers out there using my Build.
They’re still using Wolves and Cats while i’ve switched to Spiders and Malicious Training.
They’re basically at that point the Engineer Rifle Turret + Net Turret combined.
Spiders and Malicious Training are doing great together. But have you tried spider & wolf (with malicious training)?

Ranger hands down….he says struggling to keep a straight face.
If played well, a ranger is really strong in 1 vs 1

Bearbow ranger…

BM regen-build with apothecary gear, since nature´s voice shout builds seem to be more suitable to group-play in my opinion. Once in a while I tend to give in to my longing for a more power-oriented burst approach, but usually begin to regret my decision in certain situations.

We need to put 30 points in marksmanship to make the signets work for us too – not just for the pets. Just to realize that it doesn´t work like it should do.
Charrov – Engineer
Rangers can apply regeneration endlessly through shouts which is especcially useful in WvW roaming. In full clerics gear it´s over 300 per second. A warrior with healing signet together with ranger´s regeneration receives over 700 heal per second. So actually it´s not bad at all…
Ranger heals don’t suck. Their self heals are definitely first tier with 2 different “off the books” self-HoTs that work with the standard Regen boon. But keep in mind warriors can also establish group-wide perma regen with their banners and also have 2 off the books self-HoTs. Guardians also have one with their virtues, and can trait to share that partywide as a passive effect. Mesmers can set up shared perma-regen with their phantasms, and the Engineer’s equivalent to healing spring pretty much forgot to have an expiration date (well, 5 minutes, but still…).
Perma-regen just isn’t that uncommon .
You´re right. Perma-regen is not a ranger´s privilege. What I was trying to say is that
it´s making a difference whether you´re using cleric gear or not. Ranger heals , be it the direct ones or regeneration, scale with the healing stat.
What some people in this topic just seem to forget, that damage just isn´t everything. While it probably is in dungeon PvE, in tPvP and in WvW support and healing (especially in small scale WvW fights) is very important. It enables you to fight larger, not organized groups. Especially when these kind of fights are more drawn out. A pure DPS mindset in any PvP setting in GW2 sort of lacks in terms of survivability.
Anyway to return to the topic. Bearbow rangers usually spam barrage before they die. At least 95% seem to do it that way. Not even considering swapping weapons in order to escape with greatsword swoop for example.
Charrov – Engineer
It’s not even 2340 in 3 seconds, it’s 2340 in 18. The tooltip on Healing Spring is the total amount of health you will regen over the entire duration of the spring.
Cleric ranger is pretty much one of the dumbest things you can run in this game given that rangers have virtually nothing in the way of healing outside of their 6 skill. Cleric guardians/engineers/elementalists already get tons of hate and they actually have skills that heal for significant amounts in an area.

Spirits in sPvP / tPvP seem to be viable. I had 3 matches since the nerf and they went fine. What I´m having fun with right now, is a zerker-signet axe / axe + greatsword build. I just didn´t dare to try it out besides in hot join so far.

Nothing Wrong with BM Bunker, Use Spiders with Malicious Training, watch the tears flow.
Are you still using the “standard” 0 0 30 10 30 build?
Charrov – Engineer
“auto-death” is still after 60 seconds but you have to wait 25 seconds until you can resummon them.
Charrov – Engineer
I like the part where killing Spirits is hard, and a certain player doesn’t want to waste time with it.
Oh how I miss the days of Dark Age of Camelot, where a single theurgist could spam a crap ton of pets at people, and the way you countered it was to clear the pets then kill the Theurgist.
Those days are long gone though.. Now its “Please Anet, these spirit pets that die in 3 hits are just to difficult for me to clear with aoe’s”
This is so true. Yesterday I just couldn´t believe how fast these spirits exploded in any kind of group fight. Seriously, most people are complaining because they can´t 1vs1 a bunker build. We had the same situation when BM ranger used to be the “FOTM” build. People are still used to mop up the floor with helpless zerker rangers.
Charrov – Engineer
yes the zookeeper still win nearly each 1vs1.
thats because ranger is only strong in 1vs1, but gw2 is in tpvp a 5vs5 game.
for dungeons should be nearly same 5 team mates vs mobsdont see a rly useful bm ranger there.
in tpvp the engi and necro take the slot from bm ranger rly much more useful.
I stopped playing tournies a while ago. Today I thought I´ll give it a try and played some with my guild mates. Basically every enemy team had 2 necros. Neither trap nor BM specc seemed to really work. At least this was my impression. Maybe I´m a little out of practice, but balancing wise they just don´t seem to have the capacity to solve the issues.
Charrov – Engineer
lol so any one else think it will be another 6 months till we see a real Longbow skill change for our better?
Sadly I don´t think that we´ll see changes in the near future. After the last “huge” balance patch they´ll be resting on their laurels and keep telling themselves what great work they accomplished.
Charrov – Engineer
On the other hand cluster bomb´s range on shortbow has been increased to 1200. Isn´t that skill strong enough already?
Charrov – Engineer
Longbow is by far the worst weapon rangers have...
# 1 Firing rate is too slow. Also the range stuff needs to be removed.
# 2 Rapid Fire Burst is too weak
# 3 This skill needs some kind of slow / snare (it´s ridiculous anyway, that ranger LB seems to be the only range-weapon without a built-in slow. I know barrage is slowing, but that´s another story)
# 4 knockback is ok
# 5 well barrage CD is way too long. I mean thieves can almost spam their AoE with SB. And since arrow-carts have been buffed, they´re way more dangerous during sieges anyway.
Charrov – Engineer
This is so badly needed, yet we won´t see this happen. I´m saying this although I tend to play skirmishing stuff only. The moment we´re more than 5 people is always kinda embarassing.
Charrov – Engineer
I´m playing both and WvW seems kinda holiday in comparison to tPvP. I don´t wan´t to generalize but the average “follow the commander” players sometimes don´t really know what to do.
Charrov – Engineer
Interesting to see the responses. I really expected more people to favor and have supporting arguments for the shortbow (since that would reflect my ingame experience with other rangers).
Just like an fyi type of thing, weakness isn’t as strong as it could be because it doesn’t affect critical hits. Meaning that against glass cannons, who are stacking crits as much as possible, it doesn’t necessarily reduce their ideal burst at all. Against bunkers, most bunker builds damage output is already fairly low, so while it doesn’t hurt, for a ranger, really, the most effective class to use weakness against is a D/D or S/D ele, as some of their skills have fairly high damage coefficients for survival builds, and weakness will really help if you miss your dodges.
Other than that though, there is definitely talk of buffing the effects of weakness, as right now it just isn’t strong enough. Ideally what’s being considered is 25 or 33% of ALL attacks have a chance to be glancing (not just noncrits), meaning the axe will instantly become an even better weapon than it already is for rangers.
The reason i don´t use shortbow anymore (at least not in WvW, in sPvP it´s another thing though) is simply that it has nothing to offer in terms of AoE damage, which is very important in WvW. I´m running a BM build while skirmishing with a group of 3-10 people, especially in situations where we´re outnumbered axe + either dagger, torch, or even double axe seem to be much better. It´s really sad that in order to get at least some AoE damage on our bows we need to put 20 points in MM. Alright, barrage on LB is offering AoE damage. At least every 30 seconds or so. So in my opinion axe is way stronger since shortbow only shines when you´re chasing someone. I have to admit, that the moment I realized how thieves´shortbow is working I felt kinda depressed. It´s so cheasy to use and you can basically spam all over the place…
Charrov – Engineer
The sad thing is, that the majority of LB & bear using backpaddlers won´t notice this at all. BM rangers are under-represented anyway. At least in WvW. Since I stopped playing sPvP a while ago, I can´t tell how the situation is there right now.
Charrov – Engineer
Saw this Nerf Coming a mile away. Kitten good day Rangers
Thief?
Charrov – Engineer
another reason to use the shortbow.
I prefer even axe to LB. LB is the worst ranger weapon by far.
Charrov – Engineer
1. Different game modes (G vs. G, deathmatch etc.)
2. More build variety
3. Overhauled ranking system (Team Ranking rather than personal ELO based)
Charrov – Engineer
I´m having a blast with WvW skirmishing right now. Or how about sPvP / tPvP? It´s all about finding a group of people you can play with.
Charrov – Engineer
I´m using axe / axe at the moment. BM bunker with cleric armour and knight trinkets. And I must say it´s working pretty well.
Charrov – Engineer
Nothing is OP. Its simple. Every class has advantages and disadvantages.
A: advantage, D- disadvantage. heres some examples:
Thief: A- DPS, speed, stealth. D- low health, low damage reduction.
Mesmer: A- clones, stealth, defense. D- low speed, and big cooldowns.
Elementallist: A- speed, additional healing, invulnerability. D- low health, low condition removal, no weapon swap.
Guardian: A- Super high armor, Super high healing. D- low speed, low health base.
Necromancer: A- high health, life steal, lots of conditions. D- not much burst, not much stun breaks.
Warrior: A- high DPS, high health, high speed. D- not much break stuns, or condition removal, or healing.
Engineer: A- high toughness, high conditions, turrets. A- no weapon swap, low burst.I may not be right, I don’t have much experience of necros or engineers, but most of this is right. Everyone is OP and crap at the same time :P
It´s funny that you forgot the ranger though…

Well I am tired of GETTING HIT FROM THIEVES THAT I CANNOT SEE, I think it kind of balances things out As long as you thieves can still hit me when I cannot see you, anything that ruins your day will make me smile. This post will probably get blocked/deleted +1 it while you can!!

This is getting rediculous. All bunker builds on all classes either need a nerf or all classes need a dps boost. I am currently a pure glass cannon ele. Even with a base power of 3185 + 10 stacks of might + 58% crit damage and 74% crit chance with fury using all my d/d fire and lightning skills with combos + arcane wave I cannot kill a true bunker. They either just keep healing or laugh at me tickling them with their high hp pool. For every action there is a positive or equal reaction. For however much damage a bunker absorbs I should be dishing out just as much if not more because we are a pure glass cannon build.
No glass cannon should be able to kill a bunker solo anyway. If so, bunkers would be absolutely useless. What you´re asking for is basically something that would make PvP a one shot glass cannon zergfest.
Charrov – Engineer
I would personally put 15 points into nature magic and only 10 into skirmishing so you will still have 15 points left for wilderness survival. This way you can get endurance regeneration and protection on dodge roll. 0 points in Wilderness Survival can result in a very quick death.
Charrov – Engineer
I´m seriously considering about either re-rolling or even taking a long break from GW2 until this mess called ranger class is getting fixed. So frustrating and still no official response.
Charrov – Engineer
So worried about this. All I do is WvW roam and BM Bunker is the only way that has been really successful. As a straight bunker it takes like 8 minutes to kill anyone, and as glass cannon running solo is almost always death.
Oh noes…..
Would be really nice to hear some official statement about this.
Charrov – Engineer
Hey peoples….
Turkish here.
Do some tests for me, but after this patch, I was out recording footage all morning this morning in WvW, and something didn’t quite feel right. Before this patch, I regularly recorded hits from my Jaguar topping 3k, 4k, 5k, and sometimes even 6k. I mean, I hit like a wet noodle, as I am BM bunker spec, and my playstyle is all about staying alive while the pet tries to kill things. So this type of damage, I figured, was what it should be.
However, this morning, I went back through all the post-patch footage I recorded and in all the fights, even against people who were leveled up to 80, I never saw a hit from my pet even top 3K. I believe 2800 was the highest hit I saw, and that was only once.
I am worried. Very worried.
Was this just a bad morning // fluke, or did the jaguar (or our pets in general) get their damage stealth nerfed?!
I´m not so sure about that. At the moment I´m using birds as pets and they seem to deal less damage than before.
Charrov – Engineer
As the title says, is Empathic Bond still worth it after the nerf? I´m not so sure about that. I´ve been thinking about using Bark Skin insted.
Charrov – Engineer
Got 20k hp, 36% crit, 3000 power and 3100 armor.
What armor and jewelry are you using for those stats? Looks very interesting, so if you’d like to share I’d appreciate it!
I´m pretty curious too…
Charrov – Engineer
Any BM or trap ranger has good chances to succeed against a thief. LB rangers in zerker gear on the other hand tend to die very quick…
Charrov – Engineer
don’t try to make it sound like GS is good on ranger because it only has one useful skill, skill 5.
Actually 3 is pretty good. And 4, if used correctly, also…
Charrov – Engineer
Relative to almost any other build lol.
Yes its a fairly good starter point, but I depending on the build have anywhere between 47-50% Crit chance, with 80% Crit Dmg. And it can get higher.
It just depends on the situation. Rangers with such stats as your´s die a very quick death in WvW. You´ll have your moments while keep defending sure, but as soon as someone engages on you, you´re in big trouble.
Charrov – Engineer
You can put the stuff in your PvP cabinet. If you have double armour or weapon peaces you can salvage them, to get ingredients for the mythical PvP forge. Not to be confused with the Mythical Forge in Lion´s Arch. There´s tons of skins you can unlock through chests.
Charrov – Engineer
Mhh is it really that bad? I mean I was aware that trap or BM tank are the Go To builds for ranger right now. But are they really the only viable specs in competetive play? If yes, does anybody have a reasonable explanation for this?
I did quite well with my Power/Crit build so far but then again I’m just rank 10…
Are there any experienced pvp rangers out there that don’t run trap/Bm?PS: @IlJumperMT: The link doesn’t work. Possibly because of the semicolons.. try tinyURL
The reason why BM-Tank and Trapper are the only viable specs is that you can dish out some decent damage while being quite tanky. Pets don´t scale with the ranger´s gear stats so if you´re going to use a power crit based build you lose tons of survivability. From time to time i dare to try out more power / crit oriented builds but it just pales in comparison in my opinion.
Charrov – Engineer
I thought that I´d be the only one who´s going for the 10 points into skirmishing for the extra pet crit damage. Though I went for condition damage (Shaman´s Amulet). Plus I´m using felines as pets, different weapons and runes too. Definitely a strong build – not only for tPvP. The major trait VI Nature´s Protection in Nature Magic gives you extra defense against glasscannons. I rarely if ever lose 1vs1.
Charrov – Engineer
Considering the fact that the 2 million mark has been hit in September, it´s very unlikely that the game “only” sold 500.000 copies since then. They´re still in the charts in Germany on 6th position for example. The “panda incident” is not even in the top 10 anymore…
Charrov – Engineer
Well, if we (the internet people) don´t mean a thing to you, why post on an internet forum at all? Besides since there are no healers in this game, dodging is a must and frankly it´s a lot of fun too! Great Combat System!
Not sure if sarcastic or just very easy to please…
The first part is sarcasm, the second part is not. The game isn´t perfect. It surely has it´s flaws but the combat system is something I really enjoy. I can understand that it isn´t that satisfying in PvE. But in PvP it´s definitely better than in other MMOs i´ve played so far.
Charrov – Engineer
I don’t give a kitten about skill. I just want to have fun while leveling and not be required to be some professional gamer in order to have fun.
Screw skill. Who am I bragging to about my skill in Guild Wars 2 anyway? you? People I don’t even know or care about frankly. Sorry but you are nothing but random internet people to me. And no I won’t ‘feel pride’ cause I can skillfully press some buttons and learn some rotation that goes on and on and on until I kill something.
I don’t want to be an awesome gamer at all. I don’t want to have to be skilled at all. I just want to play a game and have fun without some sad low life’s breathing down my neck telling me I am doing it wrong. Why do I have to do everything perfectly and one way that some small group has deemed ‘the right way to play’?
I don’t want to play the way you want. I want to simply have fun, to feel powerful. Games to me at least are nothing but an escape. I don’t need them to boost my self esteem for goodness sakes.
Well, if we (the internet people) don´t mean a thing to you, why post on an internet forum at all? Besides since there are no healers in this game, dodging is a must and frankly it´s a lot of fun too! Great Combat System!
