Anet should ban deso and sfr, this night they double focused barush, they made that server tik -50 to make sure deso ends top 2.

The risk you have with armor (especially potentially great-looking armor in the future) on Charr is that it will look bad because the proportions simply don’t fit or because your horns magically disappear. Imo, the only real good looking armor on Charr is the cultural armor. But that does not give you a lot of options. The same thing applies to Sylvari: legs are stretched (you see this especially with skirts, it’s just horrible) and the shoulder armor is placed further away from the neck, giving them this floating look.

If you pick a human, you at least have the garantuee that most armor will look good on your character from an objective point of view.

I like how people that xferred to t1 servers are whining about stale matches & fighting the same 2-3 servers over and over again. It’s been that way for a while now.

Want to have some fun? Drop down & help salvage a lower ranked server. Simple as that.
Otherwise you’ll all be stuck fighting each other for a long time.

Or how about some of the servers in the silver league are thrown against gold so they are forced to learn new tactics and up their game. During the first season, I’ve seen JS bringing SFR to a complete stop because they needed to secure their second place. So it’s possible for those servers to actually fight back.
It’s just like with children: if you don’t give them challenges and stimulation, they will not improve. I hope they just lock down the current match ups completely, so people here who are posting dumb and shortsighted advice like “transfer away” will feel the pain too in a relatively short time window.

Besides, I’ve been on SFR ever since the beginning of gw2 and there is no way I’m leaving my server. In a lot of ways, we are just as much victims of all the people coming to our server. So we should just leave then? Would you?

Maybe a start would be something like reversing the effect of feast of corruption.

Instead of dealing more damage when there are more conditions, deal more damage when there are no conditions. This should allow necro’s to burst down these immunities just enough so the elementalist needs to heal/dodge the attack. This would require the elementalist to at least put in some more skill in their play rather than to give them a free pass against condition necromancers. A softer counter for the hard counter. It would at least give necro’s something more to compliment their LB. Damage should of course stay low enough for it not to overthrow condition damage: just enough to get rid of that immunity.
Elementalists can all too easily replentish their hp (even more so with the new blast in water fields), at least this would give them a bit more of a challenge.

As an added bonus, it would be a first helpful start for necro’s to damage structures in the open world.

Sure we do, why not to take wooden keep or tower instead of break our heads against T3 highly sieged keep? Ever though that we are simply not strong enough to push VS? Check last match, VS literaly destroyed us. It’s not like we don’t try. We do but fail in most cases. We can push VS only during our prime time, where our guild raids starting. Then you will see we capping stuff from VS, their bay and even gari. There is no fun to be wipep over and over again to VS superior numbers. So we just go the easier way, I am sure you would do just the same being in our place.

Sure, I can understand your position; it’s logical. But if you would understand the situation SFR is in, you wouldn’t be posting what you did. I can imagine it’s not fun to be wiped over and over again by two zergs that are hunting for you. So yes, some of that frustration spills over on the forum here. I’m not saying it should, but I can understand. I’m sure you would feel the same in SFR’s place.

Just a question for SFR. Why so much hate against Piken? It’s VS who is focusing you to secure 1st place and there is no hate against them? Piken is and will take the chance to push you too since then we have chance to end up 3rd in the season. It’s a tactic you would do alone. So what’s your prob? Why you don’t threaten VS to destroy them next match up? Is that because your e-pe_nis is not big enough for them? So do you need to enlarge you ego to threaten “weaker” servers? Is that all you can? What do you say now Wemil and other “pros”?

Or how about you focus Vizunah, so it will end up third and you or SFR second. You’d still secure your place. Let’s face it, you don’t want to fight VS either. So cut it out with the pros and tactic and all, it’s hypocritical and quite childish.

Same goes for SFR too of course. All the forum whining will not change reality. I can however understand the frustration that it’s 2v1, little you can do against such overwhelming man power.

Oh well, to the frustrated people of SFR: take a break from WvW. It’s not like your participation will make a difference anyway. The only thing will might change in the final result is the position of JS, depending on if they can beat Riverside or not.

I don’t really understand why the engine would choke with more than 25 conditions on one target.

In world boss events you can have hundreds of people spamming all sorts of fast direct damage attacks – many with multiple hits.

You would think that tracking conditions, which do slow and predictable damage over time, would be much easier than the randomness and rapid pace of instant direct damage hits.

I hate comparing MMO’s but…

A very old engine from another mmo can accomodate seperate debuffs for every player hitting the boss, up to a maximum of 40. I can understand that right now, the gw2 engine can’t handle more than 25 stacks of bleeding. That being said, if an old engine can be changed to allow more conditions, there is absolutely no reason a much more advanced engine can’t do it either.

Anet should just realize having that cap is bad, and then just remove it (and they can). It just takes a bit of work, that’s all. Just like fixing culling was hard and then succesfully done.

My alt guild is the only guild that is broken at this point. The abbreviation is gone, I can’t see anyone else in the guild (even when I invited a new person) and the bank is gone too. I’m mainly concerned with the latter, as it had a lot of expensive crafting materials in there.

What’s maybe even more strange, even though I represent the treasury I can still talk in VOLT guild chat, even though I’m visible there as not representing. Something is very wrong.

Guildies are reporting bank guild issues as well.

I kinda have more of a question than true feedback, but I was wondering how Anet sees the staff of the mesmer. It has its place in PvP, but in PvE at this moment it is lacking a bit and it’s kinda hard to provide feedback as I don’t know what direction Ant wants it to go? A support weapon? A condition weapon? At this moment, I feel it’s a bit of everything and nothing. I’d really like to be able to use it in a supportive build with lots of boons, there’s some real potential there but the short duration of the buffs the staff gives pretty much make that impossible. But I’m one of the very few it seems, as most people have even forgotten about the staff in PvE. Lots more people are talking about some changes to a single daze trait than about a real weapon we have, as i tried to spark some discussion in the mesmer forum and it was answered by 1 person; only one. I just feel a bit sad about it really.

In PvE many weapons might be preferred over Staff but that is not due the Staff not being a great weapon. People just need to wrap their head around the fact that there will always be a most effective weapon for certain situations and that a weapon can’t – or at least should not be – oustanding in every scenario. In this case, the Staff happens to be a lot better in PvP than in PvE. It also happens to be a defensive weapon. And in PvE people usually expect you to bring fast raw damage.

So no, I usually do not use the Staff in dungeons or fractals because people expect you to bring raw damage. Also, WoC can be reflected which is extremly annoying. I also do not use the Staff in the open world when zerging because the AA is too slow to tag anything. However, when solo I in high level areas I ALWAYS prefer Staff + Sword/X because this offers me a great combination of defensive and offense.

And please don’t go “SEE! You are using a Sword!”. Sword is the only melee weapon we have and the Scepter is completely useless in PvE imho. The Staff is just not good at killing fast. I’m sad that I can’t use it all the time. But I still like the Staff a lot and it is far from being bad, broken or underpowered. And it is far far away from being in the state of the Scepter in PvE.

Very true, and I completely understand that each weapon should bring something unique. But that division should not run with PvE/pvP, but rather situations where one or the other is needed. You need refletction? You bring the focus. You need ranged, you bring the GS. Heavy melee damage? Bring the iduelist.
Every weapon needs to have its use in the respective game modes, that’s why Anet made it even possible to have a split between PvP/PvE. The staff could be a great support weapon if we really want the scepter to be the prime condition weapon, but then it needs to be buffed in that regard as it doesn’t provide enough at this point compared to other classes. Mind you, I’m only talking about PvE. Even toying with the numbers (duration of the buffs) could be enough to push staff in a stronger position, and that would hardly be a cruel split; it’s not like there will be different mechanics for the same skill.

And btw: Jon clearly said he wants the scepter to be the defensive weapon, meaning the staff obviously has to be something else as I doubt they want overlap in what weapons do. So yes, the staff might be the best defensive weapon we have but what will happen if the scepter gets buffed/reworked?

Got to disagree. Besides it being a rather defensive weapon, it does deal an insane amount of damage when you use the iWarlock properly. Use your AA. Get 1-2 clones up. Apply conditions. Benefit.

The only lacking skill is Chaos Armor since it got its guaranteed Protection nerfed. It feels useless because you can just use Chaos Storm and Phase Retreat instead. It would be very nice if we got Protection back or had some other effect added to it.

Staff definitely needs to improved at, just like the scepter(but that’s already been adressed by Jon). I can understand that sttaff is good in sPvP, but in PvE it just is complete crap. It doesn’t deal enough damage, not from a power build side and definitely not from a condition build side. And supporting, well the occasional stack of might or fury it gives can hardly be qualified as support when an elementalist can stack might so much higher and deal more damage at the same time.

I think it’s time a decision is taken what the staff should be, and the staff should be buffed to meet its defined goal then. It’s lacking in everything at this moment.

If you want power build, you’ll need more damage on the auto-attack.
If you want condition, at least the phantasmal warlock should apply conditions as well, and maybe an increase in projectile speed/attack speed for both mesmer and clones
If you want support, it should at least apply 2 stacks of might per bounce.

I can’t help it but… (I mean this with the utmost respect, but I’ve been waiting for this for some time now) When will there finally be something for condition mesmers in PVE, PVE being the key term here. In PvP, they are fine but in PvE they simply are inferior. When will the staff get a PvE damage buff in order to make it more viable, or do you think they are fine (with which I’d have to disagree).

For PvE, all the mesmer wants right now is the MH sword and that is a real shame. I can apprecaite that you are working on the traits, but the weapons are more important in my honest opinion.

Will there be any buffs for condition mesmers in PVE? We are nothing compared to necromancers and we’re just gimping ourselves when we don’t go shatter/phantasm power build. I know cond mesmers got great defence(but then again, so do necromancers) and that “lasting” element works great in PvP, but in PvE damage is just much more important.

Having confusion deal more damage in PvE(or having it do a fixed amount of damage if it doesn’t proc after the dot timer has reached 0) would be a great improvement.

Stuck on 12/13 myself, I made sure I did every map now without jumping between flows and doing at least two scarlet minion events. At this point, I don’t have the foggiest idea what map it is I have to do again in order to finally get the achievement to go complete itself.

No you are wrong. We traded in our token because at that moment at least I assumed that the vendor would disappear within a certain amount of time and he did.

A lot of people assumed that the vendor would disappear and that the token would be made worthless since back when the fused weapons first came up there was no black lion skin vendor.

Hey, I traded mine in back then too because I also assumed, but you know what they say about making assumptions…

True, in this game you can’t even rely on the actions of Anet as they are changed a few months later. Indeed, stupid me… It doesn’t justify the unfair treatment though.

I see the reasoning behind the decision by ArenaNet and I agree with it.

If you held your TOKEN then you clearly did not intend to use the skin on your characters because you still have the TOKEN.

If you held your SKIN, then you already cashed in your token for the skin you intended to use.

On the one had, you hadn’t actually used anything yet and thus probably didn’t want/like the skins and now have the option to sell them so that you can get some value for the token you were holding. On the other hand, you consciously decided to trade in your token for a specific skin because you wanted/liked it and are now upset that you can’t convert it into gold.

No you are wrong. We traded in our token because at that moment at least I assumed that the vendor would disappear within a certain amount of time and he did. It was only later that the black lion weapon vendor appeared selling the skins again. I for once didn’t want to end up with a useless ticket in my bank, so yes I decided to spend it at that time in the hopes of one day finding a use of the skin. And I haven’t used it so far because I failed to find a use for it, so your alleged difference with not using the ticket is kinda moot. If I haven’t used the skin yet, that means I don’t have need of it and by your logic, I should be able to sell it now.

People who didn’t use their ticket still being able to use their ticket now, okay. But you missed the entire part where this is about the selling of the weapon skins, those people can sell their skins now for a lot of gold whereas we can’t and that’s just not fair. Those people can now have a look at the trading post and see which skins nets them the most amount of money, you think that is fair business? Leaving the option for the people with a ticket to get a skin should they feel like that in the future, I can agree with that(and that should have been communicated up front anyways, it wasn’t). But disable selling for EVERYONE, or enable selling for EVERYONE.

So this game truly has become arbitrary? What is the justified difference? A simple date of purchase? For once, at least try to be consistent please… You allowed WvW blueprints to be sold and bought back so people could sell their old ones, then allow us to sell our skins too.

LIke so many said, inactivity is being rewarded in this game. First with the people who ddin’t use their support tokens, now with the people who haven’t used their tickets. This is just a kick in the crown jewels for any active player, once again.

And oh, what happened to “we listen to the players”? I feel the answers here in this thread are pretty straight forward. And that’s only logical: there is NO justification for not allowing the skins that were bought previously to be sold whatsoever. Oh, and in case some words on the forum won’t convince you: seems I’m holding back on buying me some gems. I won’t support a company that makes this kind of decisions.

It’s not my fancy, I believe it will fundamentally improve the mesmer and at the same time make it easier to balance them. Right now, phantasm mesmers work too differently from shatter mesmers. Traits based around shattering will never be wanted by phantasm mesmers and vice versa, leading us to a loss of choice in spec/trait options because of it(ideally, we should have more trait options than other classes because of this divide but that’s never going to happen and we all know it). And since people can’t seem to deal with phantasms and they will probably be nerfed again and again until there is nothing left to talk about, I’d rather they just disappear all together in their current form/mechanics. I want the professions skills (F1-F4) to be important for every mesmer and right now, it’s not like that at all.

I don’t see how it will improve the mesmer, there’s nothing wrong with certain builds not wanting traits suitable for other builds (e.g. bunker guards vs. DPS guards, the former will probably take AH and the latter will likely take monk’s focus).

All ANet needs to do is ignore the QQers, and actually look at the fact that there are zero mesmers at PAX as a hint that something isn’t right.

As for your last point, it’s exactly like I said – you want mesmers changed to suit your fancy. I don’t care about using my F1-4 except if an opponent is extremely low or if I’m eating burst and need distortion, whereas the shatter mesmers use theirs a lot. In both cases, we both have access to them and can use them whenever we please without even having to trait them so it’s a win/win.

First of all, the comparison with bunker guardians quite doesn’t fly. They choose survivability traits, traits that work for every guardian that takes the right utility skills (and every can take them). The problem with the mesmer is that traits are seperated due to mechanics, because some favor keeping your phantams up like the trait that gives regeneration and others favor shattering your mesmer. There is no free choice, as a phantasm mesmer normally has 0 interest in investing into the illusions trait line. A shatter mesmer has to take quite a few less than ideal minor traits when speccing into the inspiration trait line. We have to choice for mechanics AND what role we want, whereas with other classes it’s only the latter choice.

And obviously don’t agree, but if a profession has very little interest in using their actual profession skills, something is wrong. Very wrong.

It was just my idea; if you have an idea to improve our profession skills for every mesmer, improve trait lines so they are suitable for every mesmer and balance both mesmer types for PvE and PvP, i’d love to hear it.

Yes, I cannot sell my fused dagger either. I never did antying with it, it was just stashed in my bag and I cannot seem to sell it. Please fix this, as we don’t have an option to “reset” it by vendoring like with the WvW blueprints change a while back.

Allowing us to vendor them adn buy them back to reset them would be an easy fix.

I sort-of agree that Phantasms are inherently a problem. They take up slots which would otherweise be centred on the see-saw mechanic of Clone-Defence via obfuscation vs Clone-Offence via shattering.

I guess if I were given free reign, I’d try a version or two where Phantasms have been removed entirely. The abilities would stay, but become short-term effects focused on momentary confusing attacks. Example:

Phantasmal Berserker
4 copies of the Mesmer wielding Greatswords are summoned in a circle around the target. After 1,5 seconds, one will activate and whirl through the enemy and surrounding targets, causing damage and crippling enemies hit. Afterwards, all four illusions dissipate harmlessly.
Circle should be wide enough so that most AEs cannot cover all four, but individual illusions should be weak. Think Forest Temple Boss in Ocarina of Time.

And I’d create each of them that way. Each skill spawns a number of clones (cannot be used for normal clone business). After X time, one or multiple will create some attack-effect, then all illusions spawned as a result of the skill are dissolved.
Basically, an indirect instant attack with a delay, in turn it’s difficult to defend against.

I feel the same way. The way I see it now, mesmer is too divided by shatter mesmers (who use the class skills f1-F4) and phantasm mesmers who actually prefer not to use them as they need to keep their phantasms alive as long as possible. Phantasm builds thus have no reason to spec into a lot of the shatter traits, and they also have less need for normal clone regeneration after their phantasms are up. I too think it would be best for the mesmer class that the phantasms either disappear or are handled seperately(maybe just doing one attack and then disappearing). That way, every mesmer would have a reason to start using their F1-F4 and have an interest into speccing for shatter traits, as there is nothing holding you back from shattering at the right moments.

You can see how many people are waiting on the NPC who you’ll need to talk to in order to get into the arena. Most fights will not actually take two minutes. The arena will admit the next person whenever someone wins or loses as well. Also there’s a lot of other stuff going on in the map. You guys should check it out before you jump to too many conclusions.

Rather than doing all this trouble to get us to see how long we have to wait, you should have used your resources in a better way: no waiting at all by making it instanced. If I want to see other people doing it, I’ll check the videos that will be uploaded to youtube. No matter how much other stuff is going on, it doesn’t change the core of the problem. I have to wait. If I fail, I’ll have to join the queue again. And from what I’ve heard, i’ll fail a lot. NOt that I have anything against that, I welcome it. But not through this. And all that in just a 4-week span. If I want to play in the arena, I want to play in the arena and not wait until how many people before me are done. It’s all just a daunting mechanic, really. I really thought a game should be better than having those mechanics. Especially a year after launch and all the player feedback. And most of all, after using another mechanic just the patch before (candidate trials) that nobody complained about.

So do you know Dulfy, if the Queen’s Gauntlet (and Crown Pavilion) is permanent? Are we going to be able to keep trying to get the achievements after the two weeks/month?

It’s temporary, it only stays for 4 weeks.

I haven’t seen anything yet from Anet thats said its temporary (or permanent, for that matter).

I mean, your own testers (who should be really good at the game) can’t do it. How do you expect people to do it, with less time even. If it really is so genuinly difficult, it will stay that way and you can expect that it will remain rare that people can overcome the challenge. Just look at other mmo’s, where only the power creep allows lesser skilled people to overcome really difficult challenges.

What’s going to be the explanation? “Oh sorry,we did all this trouble to fill the giant hole in DR and build something new on top of it, but you can only use it for 4 weeks”. Making it an arena that you could gradually add things to would be an awesome feature. Not all this constant temporary pieces you glue to the game and then rip off again.

I agree. Again, difficult content is fine. But the temporary nature of it will just make it more aggravating then fun. Also keep in mind that you need tickets to participate in the gauntlet and also that the guantlet will have a que system because it is not instanced so people can watch. This means it may take forever just to get do to it.

So difficult content for here for a month – ticket to enter – que to get in (possibily long – unknown for now)

Adding insult to it all, apparantly only 6 people can do it at the same time on a server and even that is locked behind getting a ticket. So we got this enormously big challenge that testers can hardly defeat, and that is locked behind limited attempts and all that in 4 weeks. Can’t anyone else see the problem with this?

Shattered conditions is a worthy grandmaster trait. Only the tooldip states the functionality wrong You remove one condition per shattered clone. Thats – even without persona – the most powerful cleanse in this game. Still doing testing about what the cleanseradius is. But hell, 3 conditions cleansed per full shatter? For your entire team? Useless? No! But I think they should merge the two inspiration grandmasters and increase the heal/make it AoE too.

The big problem with that trait as well is that it’s simply undesirable for phantasm mesmers. No phantasm mesmer is going to shatter his illusions and their main source of damage, especially right now where all the conditions you cleanse are back in a matter of seconds.

IMO: ArenaNet favors Evon (Unfair!)

Yeh, there’ s a definite bias towards Evon right now. The rewards are simply unbalanced: you can choose between something that’s quite obscure or you know, the event where the mighiest god was chained to the crystal sea by the other 4. And now with those new weapon skins, the other reward of Evon is actually more useful that just 4 weeks of cheaper WP’s. Those weapon skins will stay forever once you have obtained one, and the reward given by Evon makes it easier to get it.

I just laugh at the statement that the rewards are even between the two. After I logged in, everyone was cramped around the Evon support box. There were only 2 people at the Kiel support box. Yes, real even. You should just start working on the reactor fractal after Abaddon one, then at least the people who had their hopes up for Kiel shouldn’t completely feel like utter fooled tools.

It’s perfectly doable if you take your time and take it slow. Yes, she sometimes teleports out or runs away and that would be fine if not because of that…

Maybe some of the numbers need a little tweaking, our ele and me as a mesmer hardly survive an attack of Mai at all and ressing isn’t that forgiving at the last boss. But that’s it. I like that it’s hard, it’s just not fun when you’re out of dodge and Mai jumps at you and oneshots you, especially while trying to actually follow the mechanics and pull her over the lightning field or even more, keeping her in it.

My guild went in and did it first try. It isn’t that difficult once you keep track of what’s happening and learn the mechanics. The last boss is 3x harder than this.

That said, maybe Anet needs to think of implementing hardcore and normal difficulty. Normal so everyone can get their achievement, hardcore for better rewards. Otherwise there’s always going to be one side complaining. LIke with Canach in Southsun, except not 2 different bosses.

PS: h.ard gets changed to kitten?

Huge mesmer nerf incoming?

I feel this nerf is justified, simply because IC is a very powerful minor trait, one of the most powerful & build changing in the game in my opinion. As a 25 point trait, it feels justified there. However, I also agree that a 10% adjustment to all illusion cooldowns would help non illusion based mesmers out. Similarly, if such a change did happen, IC would be brought down to 10% as well. That way, non IC mesmers are slower but not as slow as before, while mesmers who have put the hard points into illusions will still have the same cooldowns as they do currently.

I feel the mesmer is slow enough as it is, making it even slower would just kill it for me.

The trait needs to be build into the mesmer baseline and then we can get a grandmaster trait that actually does something good but isn’t mandatory, like applying torment when you inflict confusion for example. Leaving the trait there at 25 points and then giving a 20% CD reduction baseline would still kill any other build out there, as it would make shatter builds godly OP compared to any other build out there.
