Getting upset with outfits

How do they work as outfits, then, on all weight classes?

I love the logic I’m getting; ‘’it takes time and effort’’. By that logic, they can make wooden weapons, which would mean a new set of weapons every few days and people would be happy?

Quality OVER quantity!

Well, most people who play high lvls prefer armor skins. There’s literally no reason one set can’t be both.

You do realize they have to tweak all races for the outfits as well, right? It’s just about the armour classes. And they could release the same one, if they can do so with the outfits, why not with armours?

Hello.

So, there have been more and more OUTFITS coming out lately. Some of which look amazing, some of which’s parts look amazing. My question to you, ANet, stands; why do you love losing business so pointlessly?

I would have bought at least THREE by now, had they been actual armor skins, because I could mix-n-match and become even more unique and awesome. But they’re silly little all-or-nothing outfits and that is just so pointless in my opinion, reduces sales and, honestly, I can’t think of a good reason for their existence.

Anyone else share this mindset?

So I assume massive zergs in WvW don’t mean anything?

And Range, sure, yet by that logic everything is pointless. I just want it here eventually, it’d be great fun.

I’ve wished for a semi-large, open, snowy (WvW is full of grass, snow maps are rarer and cooler), map where PvPers could have battles since I heard about GW2. Not 5v5, not Cap vs Cap, not who gets to Svanir first and who second. Just pure 10-15 people vs 10-15 people all-out deathmatch war.

Why is this not here yet? That would be actual PvP, just like Courtyard. The problem is, courtyard is still just 5v5 and it’s small, and round and awkward to actually play on.

To all the naysayers I say in advance, this being implemented would not affect you at all. If you didn’t wish to play it, you wouldn’t. It’d just be another PvP mode, just on a slightly larger, open map with actual killing being the thing that mattered.

My story (not GW related)

Hello!

This is the first episode, or chapter if you will, of a story line I am writing. It is not related to GW/GW2, so I hope that won’t be a problem. It’s my first time publishing my written work and I apologize for any grammatical mistakes that I’ve made. It’s not entirely finished (the story obviously isn’t but I’m sure I’ll make changes to this as well). I hope you enjoy reading it and if you do, feel free to leave a message or a comment!

I own full rights to this.

The heavy wooden door locked shut behind them, muffling the violent rain hitting the stone blocks on the street. The room was dark and the only sounds heard were heavy footsteps and waterdrops, dripping off the black coat that protected them both from the stings of raindrops. The coat made a weak sound when it hit the floor, while he was sitting her down on an old, beaten up mattress. He lid a candle and placed it in front of her, on a barely standing wooden table. The weak light emitting from the tiny flame was shining on the right side of her beautiful face, revealing a pale cheek and the tiny corner of her mouth. After pulling off his hood, he sat beside her.
She nearly instantly wrapped her fragile arms around him, followed by placing her head on his shoulder. He grabbed her left hand with his right and gently caressed it with his fingers. The weakened sound of rain was overlapping with her ever louder sobbing. He placed his other arm around her and gently but firmly pulled her closer to him. He could feel her arm grabbing his apparel, followed by the benign tremble of her chin. The cold that was pressing hard upon them both made her cheeks lose the sense of feel, making every bitter teardrop seem like a sweet source of warmth. He grabbed her by the shoulders and tenderly returned her into a sitting position. He wiped the tears off her cold cheeks and raised her head, gazing into her eyes, which were already red from crying. As he was looking into her hazel brown eyes, which kept watering up, she stopped sobbing and stared right back at his.
Holding her hands, he could still feel the apparent shaking, despite their eyes being locked together. Every drop of sorrow that pulsed through her heart was matched by a drop of rage and determination, violently pulsing through his. She opened her mouth, yet nothing came out, not even the slightest sound. She buried her face into his shoulder again and he just held her there, in the dark, and placed his head onto hers. They sat there like that for what seemed an eternity, until he removed the hair from her face and aligned his forehead with hers, followed by them leaning their heads on each other. Squeezing her hand tighter, he slowly mustered out a sentence. ‘’They will pay. All those who have wronged you – they will pay.’’ Her eyes rapidly released a couple of tears, while her cheeks shaked with utmost grace. She opened her mouth in response, however nothing came out this time either.
She closed her eyes and swallowed deeply, followed by parting her lips yet again. ‘’I can’t lose you too’’ she said, bursting into tears just after saying it. A couple moments passed until their eyes met again. His gaze, however, made any words unnecessary. She could tell her agony lit something in him, something hotter than fire, sharper than a blade, more forceful than the ocean. He reached around his waist and pulled out a knife. ‘’Take this,’’ he said with a broken voice, ‘’if any one of them comes through that door before I do, take your life. It will be a kindness compared to what they would do to you.’’ She grabbed it with a quivering hand, placed it on her chest and barely noticeably nodded.
He passionately placed his lips upon hers, then swiftly stood up, picked up his coat and started walking towards the door. His hood was already back on his head, which he turned around to see her, possibly for the last time. Her watery eyes were begging for him to stay but she knew nothing would stop him. He was doing it for her. For them. The door shut loudly after him and the last thing she heard before falling asleep was the sound of a key turning, mixed with rain and thunder.

Hello.

So, I cannot, no matter what I do or how many topics I read, find any information on obtaining an exotic level 80 berserker’s back piece to put a desert rose skin on.

I can’t find it on the TP under splice, back, brace, spineguard… Or anything to do with the word berserker.

Any help would be appreciated!

You don’t NEED mounts but it sure as hell would be a welcome addition!

Oakhearts for Sylvari, 4 legged golems for Asurans, horses for humans, bears for Norn and mechanical beasts for charr. Why not? With the right amount of work and design, a simple horse can turn into a hellbeast or an angelic warrior. Regular mounts should be cheap and offer some kind of bonus, like 20% movement speed extra, and when you are hit, you’re dismounted.

Better mounts should be costly, especially skins, look better and perhaps have 5% more movement speed – or not. But honestly, being able to move 20-30% faster while not under attack would be amazing (especially if the mounts could dodge).

Hello.

So, I would like to see GOOD reasoning behind this system.

Let’s say I buy an item on my guardian. I use it for a while but later on decide to switch to another piece of equipment because it has better stats or it looks better. Why shouldn’t I be able to use the same piece on, say, a warrior? Oh, right, because instead of it being bound to my account, it’s stuck to my character.

I bought T3 Charr armour before and because I wasn’t well informed, put it in the bank before deleting my character. Boom. 2-3 gold I could have gotten by selling it, destroyed forever.

Permanent mining tools. Why didn’t I get them? Oh, right, because they’d be stuck to my character. So, once I change my equipment because I’m bored of it, the gear I spent so much gold on will be only worth anything to the NPC. Why? Just why? Account bound items are cool, fine, nobody minds (most of) those. But everybody hates soulbound items, including me and I only ever really play one character at a time.

Why was this even implemented and why hasn’t it been removed yet?

I want to use guns on most professions.

True, but when it comes to sPvP, it’s mostly spamming with no skill involved until you’re in an organized team or going against such a team.

I disagree here. Any player CAN theoretically make a build and throw their numbers at someone else until they fall down, but this is a very small part of the combat system. Take the classic Hundred Blades warrior for example. It takes exactly two buttons to invalidate such a build (Stunbreak+Dodge), meaning all the spamming in the world fails to a little skill. GW2, much like it’s predecessor, is based around using skills at opportune times to achieve maximum impact.
(I’d also like to preemptively kill the argument that the hundred blades warrior could have just used his combo at a better time, because that’s a skill that the player must have learned at some point, and the moment that the other player found a counter for the HB spam, the arms race of player decisions has begun, meaning player skill is now a significant factor.)

I’m still waiting for them to release a legendary I really like, I have the image of the perfect armor in my head but it’s not possible with the current items available in game. Another problem is that people like me who run one character and focus everything into it soon find themselves short of INTERESTING stuff to do. You can always do something, true; but to those who like PvP, PvE won’t suffice once they’re bored of it. For the PvErs, the current PvP/WvW system doesn’t have the appeal, so what to do when you’re 100% map completion and maxed stats with the gear you want?

It seems there is a general agreement that the content pre-living story was too slow to release. I am glad that ANet is starting to get their release schedule in order. Out of curiosity, what content do you want?

This is true; but I tried being tactical and do things after thinking them through, I didn’t get too far. Then I just spammed wherever people were fighting and just followed my teammates and I did three times as good.

As for content I want; The Crystal Desert (I love playing in deserts) would be nice to explore as well as Far Shiverpeaks (I assume these will come eventually, though). I’d also like to be able to use a longbow without making another toon, be able to use the weapons I like the way I like to use them (customizable skill bar – mace/shield is tanky no matter how you look at it but setting skills as we want would actually make every weapon fun and viable, not to mention they wouldn’t grow boring nearly as fast), be able to wield a legendary that isn’t a greatsword and say ‘’woah, the effects make me look awesome’’ and last and most importantly to me: be able to join a small sized 30-100 player map (on each side) with a big boss in the middle to just wage war, aka, big team deathmatch style without having to pick stuff up.

WvW doesn’t provide that, any ‘’zerg fighting’’ lasts for two minutes then you’re back in your tower, hiding. Why not introduce a brand new style of PvP where combat is TRULY fast paced and intense?

This is kinda off-topic, though. The truth of the matter, as with my first reply, is that there is absolutely no goal to work towards that would matter at all. I might have a shiny star next to my name but will I see it? I might have a legendary but so will most others. What sets me apart from the new player besides some experience, skill and better understanding of game mechanics? The answer isn’t necessarily overpowered gear (not that I mind Ascended, I probably won’t be able to get it anyhow).

I agree with your post, pretty much every part of it.

I must say, however, the gear is too easy to attain and not needed enough in my opinion. I have more than enough gold to get everything I want and need but have no incentive to do so because it would hardly boost my performance.

I find that performance in GW2 is drastically more dependent on personal skill than numbers. While leveling my elementalist, I was regularly fighting veterans 5+ levels higher than me while wearing hodgepodge gear I picked up. The game just doesn’t reward stat bonuses as heavily due to the active playstyle of the game. It’s much closer to Devil May Cry: MMO Edition than a rotation or numbers based game.

My suggestion to you is to find a legendary you REALLY like, number crunch the hell out a customized build for you to use it, and enjoy the maxed stats for life while playing your own personalized combat style.

True, but when it comes to sPvP, it’s mostly spamming with no skill involved until you’re in an organized team or going against such a team.

Hey.

So, before I start, I want to get something out of the way; I like the living story and have no problem with it.

What I do have a problem with, however, is doing an invasion for 15-25 minutes or even until pretty much the very end and then disconnecting because the sheer amount of players/things happening are more than my computer/internet can handle (yes, I run low settings). Might be culling, might not be, but when so many people spam so many flashy spells at once, it just crashes.

This isn’t a real problem in itself. I get back in, no harm done. What is a MAJOR problem however, is that upon relogging, I get thrown into a map with five people doing the event, or worse and more often, a map without the event with quite a few people.

So, I’ve done most of the event, helped however I could – and now I’m in a deserted map without the loot, without the achievements I’m striving for but with a pretty decent case of being annoyed. Sure, I got a few chests – but that does not equal the whole loot, nor the loot you get when it’s finished and none of the achievements count. I have to do 13 maps. So far, I’ve done 5-6. The game counted 3 just because of the DCs.

But not to be only a rant thread, I’d like to suggest ANet (quickly) releases a system where groups of players in different overflows are put together in an overflow that isn’t full and isn’t re-set to 0% done with the same amount of time the main map has to do it. You may say they already have this system – if they do, it obviously isn’t working. There are tens of people in these maps waiting or being helpless against the whole event with a small group. Why not put us together and create 2-3 large overflows so whoever gets kicked out or doesn’t get the chance to join the main map has the chance to actually join a decent overflow that can and will finish the event?

Please do something about this. It’s really frustrating to waste so much time just to lose everything because the amount of people playing crashes your not-so-amazing computer/internet connection.

I currently have zero incentive to buy ANY dyes except for the ones I’m positive I’ll be using. Besides, new players come in daily – they’d buy it.

It’s quite annoying that I’d have to pay 20+ gold two or three times for an item I already bought just so my other toons can enjoy the same dyes. I support a ’’wallet’’ kind of function for dyes!

in Suggestions

Vocah.1208

I agree, capes would be an amazing addition. However, the devs should keep a few things in mind:

-Capes are meant to be long, to the ground, heroic, not small pieces of cloth making you look silly.
-Customization is important, meaning, different textures (fur, metallic, cloth…) and dyeable.
-It shouldn’t replace the current back pieces; for example, the infused glowing thingy, an awesome cape and some good armour would look sick. So, maybe capes shouldn’t have stats or should all have the same stats, meaning the hunt for the best ones would only be aesthetic.
-It should fit well; clipping is less annoying than a floating cape or a cape piercing metal.

As long as charr goes, special capes could be designed for them. Maybe a semi-split cape so it doesn’t go over the tail? Also, why not add a graphic option for players; show/don’t show capes (of others). Boom, lag issues fixed.

Vocah.1208

I actually loved the Destiny’s Edge characters – I also watched the video of the voice actors representing it, and in both the video, the trailers and the ‘’I am X. I represent the X race…’’ they sound amazing. Steve Blum, Felicia Day (<3), LoganIforgotHisName, Caithe and probably Eir (never heard her like that) all fit great with their characters.

However, when it comes to the actual dialogue, the same characters say something, usually pretty emotionless, and after a short pause, the dialogue continues. This makes it feel unnatural.

I don’t know whether they were told to do it like that or the editing and putting it together ruined it; but something ruined it and made it feel forced. The dialogue needs a LOT of work, even though the voice actors are amazing. Oh, and Trahearne feels kind of dead as well.

To be specific, the part in my personal story that bothered me most so far was the death or Sieran. Everybody was like ‘’meh, she died… okay… let’s not let it go to waste, though.‘’ And that’s a real shame because, albeit she was over-exaggerated, I liked Sieran. Only Gixx showed some minor emotion.

Hello.

So, veteran might not be the proper word but I have been playing since the date of release, even though I had a very long break in between. I’m back now, though, as a level 80 guardian on Whiteside Ridge (EU), currently in my own one-man guild so the massive server-wide guilds don’t try to recruit me.

I’m looking for a small, English speaking guild, where the players interact, do stuff together, help and support each other, joke around and possibly even do mic chatting (new to that so that might be awkward but yeah, would be nice in the long run). I have no real issues doing a server transfer, even though it will take some time to gather enough gold after I perfect my character in terms of gear and equipment. Guesting is what I can do easily, though

I tend to talk a lot once I become comfortable and some people in the past in other MMO’s didn’t like it, so just a heads up before I annoy someone.

I’m on quite a lot, that will change and vary but I’m absolutely not planning on leaving the game for a longer period of time again. If anyone is interested, contact me here, on the forums, in this thread or send me a message in-game, character name is Pigler.

Have a nice day

Hello!

So, I’m going for the bad- kitten mystic snowy icy type of dude on my human male guardian. So far, I’ve purchased the Braham’s skin. I like the whole set overall but the overcoat bothers me and the helmet isn’t really what I’m looking for.

I’m gonna be mixing it with a Corrupted Bulwark and a Glyphic Mace (any suggestions on the mace? Needs white/blue particle effects). Now, what I’m looking for:

-Mace with white/blue particle effects
-CLOSED helmet, like Achilles from Troy closed or fully closed. Minimum face showing. Horns are a preference and it just has to fit nicely, that’s the #1 thing
-Fitting leggings

So far, all of the helmets I’ve found/looked at were a grave disappointment. Either too big, too ugly or the colouring choices were poor.

What I look like with the Bulwark:

What helmets I tried that I like (although not enough to actually use them):

Yeah, unsure about backpieces but I presume you can buy them off BL? (which one would be best for the build?)

So, as far as I understand, for a balanced DPS/tank build:

Soldier or Valkyrie for weapons, Knight armour, Berserker accessories, Superior water, Superior monk, Minor sanctuary/water sigils in every piece. Endurance increases energy regeneration, correct? Would Corrupted Bulwark work as a shield for it?

I’m not really planning on full zerker, pure damage isn’t my style because being a glass cannon is never cool :P The reason I’m looking for a balanced build is because I have no plans of switching or transmuting too much once I apply the skin and I like both dealing damage and being able to take it.

Hey guys, it’s me again. So, my guardian is almost lvl 80 now and I’m approaching enough gold to buy the Braham’s heavy armour skin. Also having a hard time figuring some stuff out, despite the help of the almighty internet.

The questions I have now would be:

-What’s a good build for a mace/shield and scepter/torch guardian? Aiming for high/decent DPS while maintaining survivability and the support for allies.

-What are good armours for such a guardian? Now, as far as I understand, you can buy exotics from black lion for about 20-25 gold a set besides the karma buying. I’d prefer to buy the karma ones because that’s what karma is for and I have enough of it but again, I read somewhere karma ones are too versatile. A thorough explanation would be appreciated because I know nothing about building armours/linking them with runes. Also, the appearance doesn’t matter at all, like mentioned above, getting the skin, so focused stats are the main concern. This all applies to accessories, back pieces, weapons and anything with stats.

-Is gold actually useful for anything other than crafting and aestethics? Are the level 80 dungeons profitable? I heard a few people talking about gaining hundreds of gold from one item from such dungeons.

-The backpack pieces, for example holographic dragon wings. You can apply those to any back piece; now as far as I understand, that back piece would be a ‘’Strong back brace’’ for example?

Again, apologies for the noobish questions but in my defence, I AM a noob Thank you very much for the answers in advance.

100% support

Weapons and shields need this badly, instead of being forced to chase down a weapon you don’t really like but the colours match your dream set.

Weapons don’t get diversely awesome looking until 80. At which point the variety is wide enough that most people can find one they really like, though much of the popular find they like things that take a lot of time/money to get.

Armor is kinda the same way but there is more variety at lower levels than weapons. Also the cultural armor have tier 1 and 2 fairly early, as well as the cash shop skins.

I would not suggest buying the cash shop skins for armor lower than level 80 because you will eventually out level the gear and be spend more gems in transmutation crystals/stones to keep the look.

Ah, forgot to mention; I’d buy the skin and keep it until I buy the top gear (exotics) with karma, which shouldn’t be too hard to do, as far as I’ve read.

That shield is quite sick looking and looks like it can be crafted, which is perfect for my weaponsmithing. Thanks for the link as well!
