I read on the balance changes thread that they’re gonna increase the cooldown of the Guard shout to 25s from it’s current 15s CD. The very least they could make it instant cast like all other shouts if they do this.
There are many power Necros in WvW. Wellomancer is very popular for example. I still run a power variation myself…but conditions are the meta for Necro because he’s best at it. You just gotta find your niche that you’re comfortable with.
In all honesty I have very little faith that pets will ever be unbound. And I don’t mind that. I would however like, the very least, some changes to the current proffession skills (pet control F1-F4) by combining some of them as listed below:
F1 – Attack & Guard
F2 – Pet skill
F3 – Return to me & Avoid combat (while in combat) / Stow (while out of combat)
F4 – Swap
I don’t get why we got a proffession skill with no key assigned which you gotta click if you need it when they can be easily integrated in other proffession skills they are already similar if not identical to (at least to me).
If anyone is unclear with what I’m trying to say here let me know and I’ll try to explain it better…hopefully that’s not the case.
Now, about the ranger itself. The official ANET description of the ranger is:
“Rangers rely on a keen eye, a steady hand, and the power of nature itself. Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows. With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.”
As it stands, Ranger is currently the least adaptable of all proffessions. Rangers are very situational, which is why all the hate of other players towards them.
Unparalleled archers, again, they are not. I could see a big improvement in longbow if Barrage were changed so that you can move while casting it, for example. Also, I’d like it to add Weakness on hit besides Cripple.
Shouts are sub-par compared to their counterparts from Warrior/Guardian through their effects, let alone their unusually long cooldowns.
What other proffession requires you to go 30 points into a traitline until their own signets affect them?
Traps… I’d like to see a shorter cooldown on Frost Trap. Maybe 5s cooldown reduction.
There’s so many things to be said, so many things to add but everytime we try I get the feeling that our doleances aren’t getting through, so most people just quit the class alltogether.
One last thing, I’d like to see more access to other conditions, like torment, weakness for the weapons we have, or why not, in the future…access to more weapons (ie. dagger main-hand, sword off-hand)

Been trying since minute 0 when patch went live and still haven’t managed to update.
What is going on?
Are we talking PvE, PvP or WvW duels? Too vague.
Apart from the Terrace being instanced since it became another Lion’s Arch with a big loading time…I can’t think of anything else wrong with it. Worth the gems, except for that inconvenience…
If you could make the Royal Hall instanced, that’d be great, thanks.
I’ve used 2 different “on crit” sigils before on main/off-hand at the same time and they both triggered, but too shabby to make it worth in my experience.
For example, one would trigger alot, the other very rarely. So I’m sure they may work but you may not get Earth as much as you’d want to, or you may not get Torment as fast as you’d want to (as in on CD) which would make it pretty bad imo. I haven’t tested if these two work together for sure, tho.
As much as I love Ranger, I gotta admit that Warrior does mobility and condition management better. Stacking bleeds with sword auto, independent of his crit chance (not considering the bleed trait), a huge immobilise and bleed all-in-one on a 10s CD if not traited for less (which can also cleanse conditions), large area burning from longbow with another immobilise, and on top of that can be traited to swap weapons every 5 seconds. Let’s not forget access to Torment on a low CD as well. We all know Ranger needs to stay very very mobile in a fight…so take some torment to the knee and see how that goes.
The warrior regen is incomparably better than the rangers from just 1 trait and a Healing skill…you’d have to really work your traits and utility/heal slot for that regen on the ranger (and even then it’s not 100% upkeep). For being a heavy armored class thus having superior armor than the Ranger…I don’t see the balance in having superior regen too.
That’s not to say Ranger is useless, but Warrior has it easier.
Yeah, that one is definetely a tooltip bug. The duration is the same as it’s previous minor trait of the same line, Tail Wind, with the mention that Furios Grip does not seem to be affected by boon duration, the tooltip at least.
He’s not on invisible, if that’s what you mean. He can be seen when online.
I’ve had it several times, but never outside WvW maps…it’s been quite more frequent in the past 2 weeks.
I’ve got a clan member on my friendslist that no one can invite to parties. We are all in the same world, guild, map even and it still won’t matter. This has been going on since start, I don’t know why he hasn’t reported it himself yet :/
Basically, no one can invite him to a party except if he joins it himself, then there’s no issues. If I try to invite him, for example, it will say something about network error. It’s the only person this happens to that I know of. But apparently not :P
EDIT: his in-game name is “Statu Palma” if any dev wishes to check it.
We had a similiar issue at Level 37 a few days ago. We wiped but the Firestorm didn’t really lose aggro (I’m not sure if we had aggro or Braham/Rox) and walked over the bridge and attacked us. We killed him but after he died he became invulnerable with just a little HP left. So we killed the Berserker just fine and hoped Firestorm would reset which he didn’t. We tried to lure the Firestorm back over the Bridge (he was still attacking us) but that didnt’t really work. We got him further to the right side (see screenshot) but he still seemed to be hanging on the bridge. When we wiped he was back on the other side of the bridge. (We hoped we could fight him when he is in the middle.)
Exactly what happened to us. Firestorm followed the npcs on the bridge, the bridge went down and the bosses got separated. We were still inside the arena with Berserker at this time and we killed him, while Firestorm was casting his attacks on the arena from the other side of the bridge. Once Berserker was dead I am guessing he was too far from Firestorm for the other one to absorb his powers, thus breaking down the mechanic. After the short 2-3s pause, Berserker respawned with invulnerability on and that was that. We wiped, tried to kill Firestorm instead in hopes it would reset Berserker too but it didn’t work. Firestorm remained dead, Berserker however was very much alive and invulnerable.

Just did a lvl 47 FotM with my group, we got to the bonus level and had to quit it because one of the two end bosses was bugged. Specifically, after we killed Firestorm first the 2nd phase began and the Berserker had the Invulnerability state on him permanently. We tried fully wiping multiple times and about anything we could think of but nothing worked. Everytime we’d enter the arena he’d still be invulnerable altough he would still use his wave attacks as normal, we just couldn’t damage him.
Finally, had to quit. Please look into it, thanks in anticipation!

I recently returned to playing my ranger and could use someone who can enlighten me about this minor trait. With my current boon duration the trait displays I should receive 11s of fury on weapon swap while in combat, but I effectively only receive 6s of the boon. Is the trait bugged, or am I missing something?
No. 16. WANT, WANT, WANT. Been saying this forever. Broke a rather expensive mouse with those Karma vessels and Orrian boxes. It is incredible stupid the way it’s setup right now where you can have 1 million karma jugs but have to open each one individually. Who tought of that?
As a regular subscriber I can only say excellent work yet again. I focus primarily on WvW and have been using a alternate focus 30/30/10/0/0 that works very well in large group battles and fairs great in duels or small skirmishes.

My characters have always been based around the Wolf, with as many references in story and looks as possible towards it. However, in GW2 my Ranger is Human, not Norn. I simply did not know about Cultural Armor back when I started it and I’m struggling to find Medium armor pieces containing or displaying wolven symbols (such as the norn cultural medium armor, or light armor).
Anyone knows of any that you can list in case I might have missed it? Thanks, in advance

Some legendaries are really really really bad in design and most of the community agrees. You really gotta put alot of work into making one and then the choices they give you have nothing to do with the game or the lore of the game at all. Seriously, unicorns and rainbows? Disco ball? This last blog post has me a bit more hopefull but still reticent …
Before I disgress my way to China I want a grim version of the staff for my necromancer. Lovin’ Final Rest and after helping a clannie get his Bifrost I can say I just don’t see that fitting on my character. Maybe if I dye him pink …

Same problem here ever since I started up. One of the most annoying GW2 issues ever, especially if you are into sPvP. I don’t use auto-targetting and this bug is horrible. Some fights are just pure hell because you lose skills you’ve casted into no target at all due to this bug.
I can’t believe this issue can’t be addressed not to mention fixed…

Either increase the time spent in the transformation or decrease the cooldown of the transforms to 180s. Right now they are ridiculously stupid.

If they won’t allow it to be used on Legendaries then it’s fine by me. But just cloning Legendaries is a big no no for me. Get to work, again, if you want another one. Others did
Oh yeah, this would help make the facial hair more visible on humans where hair color is lighter and so is skin colour. You can see the hair just fine but the facial hair is barely visible.
What I would fully support would be a customisable system – if we had an options menu where every player can pick their own preferred colours for different chat types.
This way,
- WvWers would be able to make commander chat stand out more for them,
- RPers could make it so emotes and /say are highlighted better,
- I personally would make /map gray and /party stand out more,
- get rid of pink for /whisper,
- in PvP quickly make chat colour match your team colour,
- etc. etc.
At the same time you would be able to not override commander chat lines with a different colour, preserving the status quo for players who like the current system and don’t want to see a rainbow in PvE /map chat.
This. Me wants!
I’m 50/50 on this suggestion.
I’d much rather they fix the already broken targeting system (it’s time ANet …) or change it in such a way that you target the nearest player or player companion (be it pets, clones, devices, golems and such) before or instead of neutral mobs or mobs of any kind for that matter.
Why not add a new option that will do just that. Simply bind a key if you want to target the nearest enemy or the nearest player enemy.
But as suggested by OP I’m against it simply because it would be breaking the mechanics of different classes, none of which I am playing.
Every time you use a skill with Signet of Restoration on passive, it counts as using a heal skill. A trait that triggered every time would be OP.
I believe it only counts as using a heal skill when you activate the skill, not when it’s passive. I will have to re-check but last I looked that’s the way it worked.

I am sorry but you guys were attacking our side towers from our spawn with 100-200 ppl, making lots of lag.. we were just with max! 30 or 40, I call that blobbing on its best.
Do you even know what 200 people zerg looks like? Seriously. Usually when people call 100 men zergs out it’s maybe about 40 people but bulked up they appear to be more numerous.
This blobbing thing is being exaggerated beyond control lately, by all sides, even tho all sides do it.
L.EDIT: forgot to mention Ive been on EB all day today and yesterday most of the day/night cycles and have yet to see a zerg larger than maybe 50 at one time put on by SFR so seriously…

(F) is the only one I think would work extremely well. Some of the others are debatable but suggestions spark good ideas through follow up comments.
However, this one idea about splitting rewards on the number of participants…that’s one great way to cut down on blobbing up.

I got your reasoning but it is wrong. In the same way Shouts Heal would turn Shouts into healing spells so that runes/traits that affect them would affect shouts as well (ie. shouts would be affected by Restorative Strength).
I understand where you are going with this but it’s the wrong direction.
Finally got into WvW last night, unable to get in since patch, on Seafarers Rest, viaing for nimber 1 Europeon WvW sever, so its very, very popular.

I don’t have the best pc in the world but I had no lag, none at all and there were 100’s of players all around.
Since I play there I can share my own oppinion about it. I play WvW alot, from solo roaming to small skirmishes with my group or large scale zerg battles.
After that patch, when everyone zergs up I can tell you the delay is unbearable. Sure, the culling is not a problem anymore, you can see all of 100 people from the enemy zerg that are knocking on your keep doors but the skill delay is atrocious. I can spam a skill for 10 15 seconds before it’s activated, the same goes for actions sometimes while fighting. Not ALL the time, but MOST of the time. I would say 70-80% of the time I spend in WvW (don’t even have to be in a fight anywhere or near anyone in sight)
Mind you, I own some sort of a space rocket as a PC due to my work as well as sporting 2 high-speed internet connections for the same reason, both of which have absolutely no problem with the game in any other content. At large events like Claw of Jormag there is no delay whatsoever.
My problem is not fps drop, I’ve got plenty of fps. My problem is skill delay, and that’s not on my part. And I’m not the only one since the chat is filled with people talking about it too. Out of roughly 6-8h I spend in WvW most of the time the delay is ungodly.
And then there’s those people who log in for 5-10 minutes that barely get to play anything in WvW and have tunnel vision for most of it while fighting so they don’t even notice their skills aren’t activating. And they come and post about how great it moves. No, it doesn’t. It needs a bit of improvement.
You need to go through the new Living Story from it’s roots which I believe for the Wayfarer’s Foothills POI it starts in Hoelbrak. If I remember that right.
It may be the server you’re on is less populated at the moment. I’ve got 7 characters maxed out in level, armors, weapons and all and I remember leveling each of them I had no problem encountering players, getting help from others or helping other players for that matter.
I play on SFR which is currently T1 in WvW on EU so it’s a pretty high population server..that just might be the problem.
