The new content needs to be permanent. Sure remove some of the random events around the world afterwards, and the lions arch decorations, but the dungeons and new zones need to stay.
I took a break from this game because of school and work, i came back a few days ago to see that I have missed a kitten load of content that I will never get to experience.
Frankly its not good design. I thought that the AQ event in WoW was bad for players who missed out on it, but this is a whole new level of bad.
By the logic of this living story, all of the dungeons in the game should be closed now since we have killed off zhaitan and every other major bad guy.
open ended games are then not the games for you if you want a game with a ending. GW2 is a open ended game. Your never gona finish it unless you want to devote years to it. The game is freaking huge!!! and is getting ever bigger. Did you not see GW1? 3 Continents and 3 major expansions over the course of years and that’s not even including the end game world stories. If you just want the satisfaction of beating a game. I hear console games have endings and most now you can get to in 24 hours.
Got my rant out. Now to answer the questions.
1. It’s good because the game will never go stale like so many others do. I for one would love to keep playing this game. Games that end their player bases leave and move on. I know for you casuals out there this doesn’t matter to you but matters for the rest of us.
2. I don’t try go get 100 percent on achievements anyway. Personally I never saw a point to them unless you were getting rewarded for going the extra mile and even then I wouldn’t devote myself to getting all of them. Only thing I’m missing out on is the story, and I’ve said in another post that I would love if Anet did a narrative of the stories thus far. Also if your a casual gamer, then getting 100 percent on achievements shouldn’t matter to you.
3.No.
4. Thumbs up. It keeps me coming back to the game even after reaching lvl 80 and beating Zhaitan. Instead of waiting, sitting on my thumbs getting bored of the game like I do with so many others after beating them. I know I can log in and there will be something new for me to do.
1. removing the content has nothing to do with keeping the game refreshing. If the content was permanent and released on the same cycle, the game would still have new and exciting things every week.
2. you may not try to get 100% but there are a lot of people who do, and temporary content screws them over big time. As an altoholic I don’t have enough characters at 80 to experience half the new content Even though i could care less about getting 100% achievements, i would still like to have the option to get some of the achievements from these events.
3. ?
4. You would still be coming back regardless if the content is permanent or not. Only difference is that people would have time to enjoy it rather than have to rush through it to experience it all.
The are also posts talking about introducing a achievement rewards ladder, not only does limited time content prevent some players from ever experiencing content and having certain in game benefits and achievements, now there will be an achievement ladder on top of this and some achievements will become out right impossible to obtain.
I don’t understand how closing more and more doors on a player base is a smart design choice.
I remember before release Guild Wars 2 was being touted as the “casual mans” MMO where you did not have to live in game for 8 hours a day to experience the full game and enjoy it, now I come in at a later date and find my self being punished for not playing from the very start and spending countless hours playing. I cant even take a month off from the game as I would be missing 2 rounds of content, I am forced to play by the schedule the game sets and what it wants me to do or I am loosing out.
On the other hand, the story is as generic as any soap opera. You can step out for months and pick up again without really missing anything.
except for all of the item rewards and the new zones they release with that content.
The next patch is adding quartz from the achievements, those who dont do the achievements wont be able to get quartz which screws over anyone who missed it…
I’ve already missed 3 of the patches. because i took a break from the game. Im currently in the process of re-rolling a character too. Looks like i wont be seeing the bazzar of the four winds before they close it off.
Why are entire zones being closed off after an event is over? Patches should be permanently expanding the game.
What happens with all the new zones you guys release? I am in the process of leveling up my character, theres no way im going to be able to hit level 80 by the time this event is over and the entire zone is gone again.
Patches should be expanding the world permanently. I understand if an event ends, but an entire zone shouldnt be gone after its over (unless of course some cataclysmic event occurs which destroys the entire zone).
I don’t really have an issue with the colours of the effects (im red-green colour blind), but they definitely need to be more “noticeable”.
As they are now, they are very thin and transparent. You pretty much need to know that they are coming and prepare for them ahead of time. Otherwise, you might miss them.
edit: Combo fields on the other hand are much more noticeable with the whole “puzzle piece” effect around the circle.
I personally don’t like the idea of 1 time only world events. I have had midterms non stop for the last few weeks (and for another week after this). I am missing the entire event because of this.
Why did you guys make it so frustrating to change our email address?

When GW2 first came out we had the option to change our email address with ease the option was readily available in our account management screen.
Now we have to contact support and wait for them to do it.
Why not just leave it how it was?
Yea ive noticed that you get 1 BOP yellow item and a couple silver. I think it would be more worth it if the yellow was BOE and the monetary reward was increased. (maybe 1 gold per run at level 80)
I just spent an hour sitting outside AC trying to get a group for story mode. Was going to run a friend through who just got the game.
He eventually got sick of waiting and logged off. Not a good way to impress new players.
We need a way to quickly and efficiently get groups for dungeons. Spamming chat is not fun at all. Especially when you eventually get blocked for talking too much.
im not quite sure why you guys find vengeance to be so good. Unless you have 20 points spent to make it consistently res you, its pretty much only useful in pvp.
Title says it all, i have always found it annoying having to ask every player to link their gear to me.
This is a great idea, i had ideas for end game pve content that sort of consisted if a COD Nazi zombiesque survival mode. But this sounds much more awesome
Is there any plans to add the ability to change our characters appearance later down the line? Like a barber shop, tattoo parlor, etc?
Maybe even similar to how it was in guild wars 1.
I know race change isn’t an option because of the personal story line. (although there are times i wish i could make my human warrior into a charr.)
But the option to change my characters muscle build, hairstyle etc… would be great.
The thing about this game is that adding in raids wont “fix your boredom”. The only reason people found raids in wow “fun” was because of the gear treadmill. Your character continually got stronger past the level cap because gear kept getting better and better. In guild wars, there is no gear treadmill.
When you get full level 80 exotic gear, you have the best gear in the game and always will.
What Anet needs to do is add some form of PVE type game we can queue up for at the level cap that we can do over and over and enjoy, as raiding wont fill the void unless they add a gear treadmill, which defeats the purpose of capped gear.
Maybe something like Call of duty’s Nazi zombies where you have to fend off ever increasing armies of mobs build barriers to slow them. Or maybe add in more to our personal story that continues on into the level cap past 80 (i hope they do this when they add in new zones)
Vengeance should have a 100% chance to rally if you kill something in PvE

I came here just to complain about this, Vengenace is useless. Sometimes i get a lucky kill and it revives me but 90% of the time that does not happen.
Every class has some ability that helps them get back up easily. Like the thief smoke bomb + teleport almost guarentees you get back up if you time it and aim properly.
I don’t want to comment on most of this, as I largely don’t care about ‘nerfs and buffs’. But this point drives me bonkers:
Random isn’t fun
This is flat wrong. Random is very, very fun. It’s why slot machines exist, and in fact dominate most casinos. It’s why Roulette and Craps exist, despite eating money from the players.
Random is quite fun. Please don’t go on a witch-hunt to get fun taken out of the game because you don’t find it useful. As has been pointed out, there are plenty of other choices in that exact slot that you’d rather take, so please take them and let scrubs like me to take our “bad” but fun choices.
Its fun when random adds excitement or addiction. In many cases with this game, its frustrating.
For example, im in a fight with some destroyers, I am low on health, my heal is on cooldown and my dodges have been used up. There is only one destroyer left at this point. I cant steal from the destroyer because 9/10 times i just get a volcanic rock, which has no effect on them.
However, there is a nearby….. ettin (first thing that popped in my head).
They are slow, easily avoidable until my stuff is off cooldown, and they usually have those stun clubs when you steal from them. IF i manage to get a club from it, I can knock down the destroyer and finish it off before it sets me on fire (thus killing me).
So I steal from the ettin hoping for a club to delay the destroyer…. what do i get???? A Tooth.
Result:
I go down. And to top it all off, these mobs are commonly found in caves.
Guess what, downed camera SUCKS in confined spaces, and there is little room to use a downed teleport + stealth combo to get out of combat and heal up.
Random sucks. It works well for casinos because its part of the thrill. In a game, I like to know that one of the main highlights of my class is a useful, consistent tool.
Imagine what would happen if guardian F1 F2 or F3 abilities had a chance for alternate effects (for example, what if the guardian heal had a chance to give a damage buff instead of a heal?)
My suggestion for dual pistols: put them away. The shortbow is a better ranged option with its damage potential, utility, and mobility.
And if you’ve already got a shortbow… P/D and D/P are far more effective than P/P in single target damage.
I disagree.
It depends on the situation.
Large pack of average or weak mobs or solo kiting: Short bow.
- Poison cloud for large aoe damage
- Can combo the poison cloud with explosive shot for wide area weakness
- other team mates can also combo with the poison cloud
- Best kiting kit in the game, not only do you get a slow which launches you away from the mob, but you also get infiltrator shot to give you even more distance.
Single target (boss mobs) or large packs of hard hitting high HP mobs (dungeon mobs): pistols every single time. Powerful mobs can pretty much 1 shot people on your team. If someone makes one mistake, it can cost them their life. With pistols you get:
- Bleeds
- Greater single target damage (combine this with swiftness buff and you can cast multiple unloads in less than 5 seconds)
- a somewhat spamable interrupt for those huge 1 hitting abilities
- a blind cloud which can essentially make it impossible for a mob(s) to hit anyone if your whole group is comboing through the smoke cloud.
You COULD technically make up for the lack of pistol kitability with caltrops, but that’s not as sustainable in longer fights.
I love the spear. You can essentially be a tank underwater with it.
Charge in, use 5.
After 5 imediately hit 3 because the enemy is usually about to throw off an attack.
use 2 once or twice and the enemy should be dead.
In a 1v1 situation you would have sustained no damage from that combo.
