Let’s just say the Lost Shores weekend with the new gear never happened. Come the expansion pack time (let’s say in a year), do you want it with character level cap increase and new tiers of gears?
TBH, I am not quite sure myself.
I don’t know. This is not a subscription game. There is no reason to “get my money’s worth”. Play other games, do other things until the expansion comes out with new professions and new areas to explore. I guess
Yeah. I am doing the same thing. I was about to spend the mats and karma to get 1 of my lvl 80 more exotic gears. But I don’t know what to do now. I don’t want to waste them on exotics now knowing that I might need them for the Ascended.
Just playing my lvl 20 alt.
No. Getting the best gear should be an achievement or reward, not a given. My biggest pet peeve about gamers these days is they feel that just because they log into your game, everything should be handed to them on a silver platter. But actually put some effort into this? No. You can insert the typical reasons – lack of time, lack of desire to do what is required, etc. Sorry, that’s the way it goes – everywhere. Generally, you don’t get rewarded for doing nothing – unless you work for congress.
Easy or difficult is not the question. The goal post for getting the top gears should not move. If it moves, the whole thing becomes a treadmill
You really are clueless aren’t you? Maybe read that text again and let it sink in.
So the manfesto trailer said nothing of the sort. Thank you. Glad thats finally been settled.

Yeah. He doesn’t get it. The mats drop rate might be reasonable. But will you find enough people to start level 1 fotm with you next month. And what if I dont’ want to do fotm. I didn’t have to do dungeons or anything specific before to get top stats gears. I have many options. But now, I MUST do fotm to get the best backpiesce. Choices and fun before Lost Shores. No choice and grind after Lost Shores.
You can get the backpiece in your own time. All you really need is agony defense, and when you start needing it, the game gives you one from a chest.
You can’t get the backpiece in your own time. If you don’t rush for it now and try to start next month with lfg fotm lvl1, good luck
Wrong again. The backpeices are made in the forge. And you can get the mats in your own time. The game GIVES you an ascended ring from a chest when you get past lvl 10. Which is when you start needing agony protection. And infusions you get from the vendor with the Fractal tokens.
Srsly. It’s like most of you didn’t even bother looking into these things before just jumping on the hate wagon.
where do you get one of the mats you need ( Vial of Condensed Mists Essence) for the backpieces? from FotM. It’s not even being sold at TP right now. good luck starting that next month with lvl1 FotM.

The only reason people play high-end PvE is grind, when you can easily get what you want there is no point to continue playing.
Maybe people should learn to ask good questions, like:
Why is this the case?
Does it have to be so?
Can we do something better?
Can we change the game so we benefit people and profit at the same time?
Instead of settling for the old standards.
I thought asking these questions and taking up the challenges were what ArenaNet set out to do.
I dislike how people think there is only one way an MMO should be. Your way is not wrong, but it’s not the only way. Guild Wars 2 is a perfect example…excuse me, was a perfect example…
Funny, I dislike when casual players come and try to make my favorite genre something it isn’t or wasn’t never meant to ever be. The charm of MMO’s is the brutality of trying to stay current. And if you fall behind a bit, playing the underdog until you catch up. Life isn’t fair, we can’t all be winners. Victory wouldn’t be as sweet if that was the way.
Gaming is not life. Gaming is an escape, and we should aim to be fair. Guild Wars is not any other MMO, it is, well Guild Wars, different, unique. And that is (was) the product’s value proposition to many of us who don’t give a crap about any other MMOs, but pay full price for this game and had intended to pay for all future expansions at launch…… until now.
I don’t see how this is difficult to understand. Before this event, we have many path to exotics. We can play many races/professions at leisure without the feeling of “left behind”. Now there is only 1 path to the gears with best stats. And toying with anything but your main character feels like a waste of time. This is very bad.
This game was not static, but now it is.
Type A: Those who had much MMO experience before but cannot commit enough time to gear grind as they now have a challenging job.
Type B: Those who have a lot of time for gaming.
Really? I thought this game was for Type C: people who don’t like other MMOs and don’t have a lot of time gaming (or at least don’t want to spend all the gaming time in an MMO)
“Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time.”
Translation: Hardcore gear-grinders get to beat up you casual lamers for the time being out at WvW, until we take pity on you to let you, who don’t have the dedication to grind you life away at FotM, have some toys later on. (At which time, FotM2 grind will drop Supreme gears)
