How much armor is too much?

I run knights armour with zerker weapons and trinkets and I feel reasonably tanky.

however saying that, I plan to go full zerker very soon so I can just kill players before they know whats hit them.

Still trying to find a build that can solo camps in wvw though…

-Full zerker warriors have to kill people exceptionally fast or the chances of losing go up significantly as the fight progresses. A lot of roaming classes can easily dance around you given their tankiness/abuse of certain mechanics (stealth/Lack of boon duration nerf). You will find it impossible to win against someone abusing a sword thief/ staff tanky mesmer/ good necro/ guardian build around boon abuse -same with ele-.

-If you go full zerker you will have to know how to time the dodges/ GS3. You also might have to go AOE (hammer/LB) as it sounds like you are running solo. You will need the AOE to deal with thieves perma teleporting and stealthing. Even then, it isn’t a fair fight if it is someone who can abuse the class and is slightly tanky.

-If you go full zerker, you will 90% of the time die to 2 players -bad/up levels don’t count-.

-You are also at a big disadvantage against similar zerker geared classes that use cheap and broken stealth mechanics.

Having said that, it is more fun and I find myself winning more if I go full zerk 1v1 and winning more 1v2 if I go full cavalier built around AOE+unsuspecting foe.

1)Now that I think about it, the warrior as profession has only seen buffs since the end of Beta Weekend 2, sometimes they were small buffs that nobody paid attention to..but buffs nevertheless, a constant line of buffs that seems to never end.

2)This profession just keeps getting stronger and stronger, we’ve reached a point that this profession has absolutely zero counter, during the last SOTG the devs said that it was fine for mesmers to have conditions as a direct counter to their profession..but wasn’t condition supposed to be counter to warriors also?

Still that counter now has been effectively eliminated..only for the warrior while it remain for mesmer..interesting.

3)Despite having the larger number of weapon sets across all professions, the warrior is also the profession with the highest number of viable weapon, if we take a look at the current viable builds for warrior we can see that no weapon is left untouched and same can be said for the utilities

Apparently at Anet there is no need for “extensive testing” to buff the warrior , they get buffed every 3 weeks, in other profession cases we need over one year to see a single change.

Some skills on warrior get buffed without the need to create multiple threads, again the Devs don’t need “positive feedback” to buff the warrior…in some profession cases ( ele) you create over 20 “positive feedback” threads and you still get completely ignored.

Only thing I wonder now is…if there is anything left to buff on warriors

And yet we are not recruited in the Top tourney teams..

You can buff a piece of kittekittenllion times but it will not be as good as a diamond.

Thanks for your input and spvp is that way if you need to learn how to handle a bad class such as a warrior. Hint: Stability/stun breakers.

Troubles with 1v1ing a necro

I’d avoid hammer. Any good player can see it coming a mile away 1v1.

Mace main hand alone isn’t enough so you need mobility and gap closers.

Mobile strikes+GS or dogged march and toughening out the CC or using LB to apply pressure while moving towards the necro.

Mobile strikes should be fixed. Currently, you can use it to cleanse immob+cripple but not chill..stupid. You can still be immob or crippled while using it. Makes zero sense. A bad oversight from the balance Dev.

GS3 gives you immunity so you can use that to gap close along with dodge/GS5.

I’m not sure what the current meta weapon wise is for necros, but they have 2 condi transfers to you and a full cleanse as well as a possible 3rd transfer from a signet.

I’m not sure how good condi warriors can deal with good condi necros, honestly, as the necros seem to have it better in condi application, variability of condis, condi removal and condi transfers.

Since you’re new, I suggest checking previous threads.

Hammer isn’t useful except on trash mobs so it depends on what dungeons you are running frequently.

GS is just used for the 100b in pve, mostly.

Check the Gw2 Guru War pve forums as the nerds there did a lot of research into pve.

Nope, not looking forward to it at all.

A league where you can only win by getting people on your server and get them to play 24/7 WvW zergblob isnt any kind of league, it’s a big fat joke. Also it rather smells fishy to me – considering the hundreds of transfers already started… someone sure wanted to sell those server transfers.

Also, there are so many issues simply not solved at all in WvW – like serverlags when fighting in SN, people using two accounts, different time zones, lack of room to roam, etc.

Nothing fishy about that. They make a killing off of server transfers and that is why they are trying to milk it to the last second.

Greed and incompetence are an ugly combination.

I don’t see any logic behind the league system.

The underlying problems ruining WvW are still there and not addressed:

Mechanisms unfairly favoring numbers and poor skill:
-Downed state
-AOE limit
-Lack of boon duration nerf -guardians and eles included in most zergs and other classes sidelined or left out-
-Lack of stealth reveal debuff for thieves allowing for permanent stealth -not Anet’s vision, if I recall- and allowing permanent group stealthing -stealthing golems or groups.. *
*Easy kill stacking from PVE mobs. It should be from players and it should be removed once the person removes the stacking weapon.

The stealth trap is a joke and a misguided attempt by Anet to profit from the broken stealth system.
The so called “intentional” effect of being able to siege structures safely from an unreachable spot inside your own keep/tower..I remember we thought the devs hit their head when we saw this on launch..

Until some of these issues – Judging from the incompetence of the WvW devs I’m aiming for some and not all- are resolved, WvW will keep declining.

Right now people log on, see a hopeless WvW boring zergling situation -either winning or losing- and say..kitten this..I’m going to check next Friday. This repeats? kitten this..I got better things to do than play this game..

Artificial useless titles and repeatedly pairing mismatched servers is a lazy/incompetent person’s solution.

Berserker stance in pvp needs to be nerfed

With the recent buffs, many warriors are currently using this and they are nearly immune to conditions. They have reduced necro’s burning duration and fear damage in pvp, so we expect arenanet to nerf warrior’s this ability to be fair. It’s way too op against condition builds. They have to reduce its duration or condition immunity. They have to nerf all classes properly or buff nerfed ones again to be fair…

So? it’s only for 8 seconds on a 60 second cool down. You aren’t expected to blindly dps your target 24/7 , right? There’s retaliation as a counter to direct damage along with, protection and stability to counter cc.

By your logic:

-Stability should be nerfed because we can’t cc during it

-Save your self guardian shout should be nerfed because it puts a guardian in god mod for 10 seconds ..not everyone has corrupt boon..

-Moa form should be nerfed because once it lands-and it lands easily- there is absolutely no counter to it

-Death shroud form should be nerfed because it is an extra health bar every few seconds and protects against direct damage There is no way of stopping a necro from going into DS as it can be used while stunned. That should not be allowed, right?

-Spectral wall should be nerfed because it is AOE fear for 5 seconds unlimited number of times for unlimited targets

I’ve never seen a good necro lose to a warrior in spvp. I suggest you check the necro forums and ask for tips instead of complaining on the worst pvp class forum.

Gotta love these new comers/casuals. They don’t know how to handle something so they cry nerf.

This is of course a personal opinion and a matter of taste (long read so don’t bother if you aren’t interested):

If you’re the commander, then you can’t die. Once you die, the zerglings behind you break up 90% of the time. It is selfish for any commander to try and dps when those points can be spent on survivability. I always see it happening and we know the semi squishy commanders by race/class so we focus them. If you want to dps then you have to go range with dps gear and stay in the middle or hind side of the zerg -though this is less inspiring-.

So you have to maximize your survivability but you have to have another role. Luckily you can maximize your survivabiltiy + cc+ condi removal.

Hammer for cc, 30 into the burst line to get a 7 sec cool down on the hammer AOE stun along with the hammer 3 which is the immobilize. Always start with a hammer 3 because most ppl can dodge the hammer burst since it is easily seen. Hammer 3 then F1. It’s about 3 seconds stun so you have to actively work on CCing every 7 seconds, you can switch the area of the AOE to disrupt the zerg.

Avoid hammer 4 since it knocks back and defeats the purpose of clustering targets for AOE. Hammer 2 and 5 should be saved as they are single target and you should focus on multiple targets as much as possible.

Immediately after hammer 3 and burst, switch to warhorn, use the warhorn 4,5 abilities and you can decide to leap if you need to, switch back to hammer as soon as the timer is up and you should have another 3sec cc ready.

Cycle your weapons fast and you don’t have to use all your weapon abilities. The important thing is you have to burn your hammer burst. Two smart hammer warriors can provide 6 seconds of stun with only 1 second break inbetween every stun duration.

Adrenaline is not an issue with cleansing ire.

Your 2nd job is condi removal and make sure you are immune to condis, any kind of immobilize. That is where sword (mobile strikes) and warhorn (warhorn 4) come in. Lemongrass might be overkill but since you’re the Commander+front of the line you can’t take any chances. You can reduce your condi removal when you feel more comfortable and instead get more hp or toughness from the food.

Stack sigil of life for the extra healing -you aren’t dpsing- and use main and off hand weapons with sigil of life to stack twice as fast. Once you stack, put those weapons in your bag and switch to your actual ones.

Signet of life is great but I’m not sure how good it is vs a big zerg. You might be better off with the big heal.

With soldier gear you will do relatively kitten damage. Might as well go for sentinel. Leave the dps to the ppl behind you with range, you should be a dmg soaker cc/condi removal machine and survive 1st and also do cc and AOE debuffingcondi removal. You will keep the front group free of condis, free of snares and having cced targets to work on.

Mind you, this is a boring build since you are a cc/condi removal bot.

Some people go the 30 into healing for the shouts on the expense of hammer cc pushed to 9 seconds instead of 7 seconds. You also lose fast hands.

I would avoid banner shouts for two reasons: It takes time to drop the banner -unless you run with it- and it is more efficient to use shouts as you can use them on the move. The shouts are getting buffed I think. The banner heal isn’t much compared to your adrenaline heal and signet of life. You can test it out.

You need zerker stance to be almost immune to condis since you will 100% get spammed to death with condis. It is very effective in opening the rush as necros for sure will aim for you. Unfortunately you have to have zerker stance on+ balanced stance -your own or guardian’s- or you will get feared back and cause confusion in your zerglings.
I would suggest having two stabilities available. Either your own or a guardian and save the 2nd one because you might get boon corrupted -smart necros aim for a warrior and boon corrupt-. It is also helpful as a back up once the 1st finishes.

As a Warrior main I thought I would put in my two-cents about this new counter meta build.

It is over powered. Straight and Simple.

It offers mobility, High damage, Strong Defenses, and Strong condition removal.

While the counter is to carry a reliable stunbreaker and stability, the amount of times you can stun an enemy compared to the actual amount of times you can use stability and stunbreakers are unequal by far.

Does it need to be fixed? I think it needs minor changes to balance it out.

lol this guy plays a thief. Sounds like he got wiped on the floor by a warrior – you have to be bad to lose to the worst pvp class in the game when you play the cheapest one-.

You should see his thread representing warriors in the thief forums and saying that class isn’t cheap, lol.

Arrow Carts need a buff while Outnumbered

The blobs completely ignore superior AC fire, you can shoot for an hour and not kill a single person. Screen: 3 AC were shooting this morning at this crazy blob, and got 1 bag total – not slowing them down 1 second. That’s with AC mastery on.

I suggest a 250% or more AC damage and radius buff while your side is Outnumbered, to counter the rezzing and 5 targets limitations of a giant 40+ man blob.

I know AC can be overwhelming during equal blob-fights, that’s why the buff should only be applied for the Outnumbered side. Even if the defenders decide to put 10 carts in one tower, nothing stops the uber-blob to take the rest of the map… so it’s balanced.

LoL..no..ACs are there to reward bad players and Angry Birders. It is waaaay OP as it is now and needs a good damage nerf. Hell..it’s so OP that there are bot programs out there to abuse it!

How about you leave the keep and enjoy playing the game instead of hitting 1 over and over again?

Also, for the sake of streamlining targetting, and this might certainly affect balance, can stealth be changed to hide but not lose targetting? So when a targetted opponent comes out of stealth, it’ll automatically target them again if they were the last targetted foe. And mayben to not be so harsh to thieves and for the sake of some extra strategy/ defense, stealth could only drop targetting completely if the stealthed character moved far away from their opponent.

Introduce a target lock option where you always target a certain opponent as soon as they pop out of stealth or clone.

You reduced any non-mesmer/thief players into mouse clickers. That is a big advantage to the opponent.

I don’t see how it’s fair that a mesmer/thief never loses a non stealthing/cloning class as a target while everyone else does.

The imbalances in this game are just out of control.

As a full time Necro player I have to disagree to both of these post. The whole premises of a stealth skill is that you lose your visual target and thus not knowing where they will reappear next. So you should not get an automatic re-target on that player. That would make it to easy to fight against a thief or mesmer. This sounds to me like a more L2P issue with the game mechanics. One needs to understand stealth in order to counter it effectively. Know that you can still hit a stealth player. Know that all conditions still effect a stealth player. Know that if you begin a skill that channels damage it will continue to channel once they’ve jumped into stealth. Know that Aoe’s are a stealth players nightmare. I’ve played against many of thieves that tried heartseeking me and failed. Only to have me come back hard at them and they have to stealth to get away. And sometime I’ll find they come out of stealth in a downed state And this is coming from a primarily power Necro.

If it’s a ‘L2P’ issue..how come mesmers and thieves don’t have that problem with the other classes while the other classes struggle with it? Ever tried locking on your target with more than one stealther around?

Having access to the most broken stealth mechanic in the history of mmorpg -unlimited and immediate stealth access in combat and not being revealed when hit- is enough of a handicap.

I seriously don’t believe anyone who pretends they favor that mechanic and pretends they aren’t playing those classes. ‘As a warrior I favor the broken stealth mechanics’. See? Easy..

So there are 4 days left until 1 August and GW2 didn’t get the 1 mil liked they wanted on facebook. Anyone surprised ? Do you think we will still get what they promised for 1 mil likes even if they didn’t get them ? PS: I really don’t know how they could imagine they will get 1 mil likes….need almoust 60k more likes.Maybeuntil the end of the year. But until August ? -.- Did you recommend the game for your friends to give a like ? I didn’t because Is not a game worth buying anymore. I don’t like to lie my friends in the face saying: Hey look this great game! You should buy it!!!
So in the end the 1 mil likes didn’t happen( a few days left but almoust 60k likes pfff….)

It’s amusing listening to excuses of why selfish people don’t share their builds etc -especially in this game-. The ironic thing is these people got some of their ideas etc from other people who shared on these forums and elsewhere which is even worse.

If you look at the other profession forums by comparison, they list entire threads sharing and detailing. Check out the mesmer sticky thread for Cat’s build. A whole essay AND website.

This game is gonna come and go and it’s better to share than be remembered for being selfish if people run into you in future games.

Good sword thieves are more difficult to lock down since they have a sword shadow step up all the time on their sword to get rid of stun/immob -even though it isn’t a stun breaker but it still gaps-. You can’t kill them because they simply run away when they realize they can’t win.

I got the impression that the thief in the vid didn’t dodge in the shadow refuge for some reason. Dunno why.

You also seem to have certain things tailored for the thief which in tpvp would be unrealistic like having an axe off hand.

As for someone to ask the good thieves to go into tourneys..you can’t..because the good ones left a long time ago when they didn’t find a challenge or switched to other classes that are more rewarding.

Nice vid but you didn’t bring anything new, honestly. Stun thieves and attack and if they run you gap close. If they refuge you aoe fear/stomp/hammer/longbow etc.

Nothing new and it still won’t deal with a troll sword thief who knows how to abuse his unlimited stun evades/breaks.

Thieves in spvp aren’t a problem but in WvW they are because they tend to burst very hard, easier access to stealth and they keep trying till they get lucky or someone shows up. If it’s a friendly they run away. If its an enemy you lost. Best case scenario against a player who can abuse the thief class: neither of you win and worst case scenario: you lose. This is a broken class. A class that you can’t win against even if you are a better player:

I also think there should be a trebuchet mastery rank, but I hardly ever use those so I’ll leave that for someone else to suggest.

+1. On our list. Seriously though, we have already been making small fixes to mouse selection. We have a whole page dedicated to targeting issues we plan to fix. How about the issue where you cant select targets through invisible walls. i.e. the dividing walls between side points and keep in Forest.

The fact that you have to pan the camera or turn around to find a reappearing target by mousing over it and clicking is ridiculous and no serious pvp will take place because of that.

Tab targetting should always ignore pets/clones/NPCs. Just put that option in. Mouse clicking should be reserved for pets and clones.

Doubtful. The imbalanced classes and broken stealth mechanics make this game borderline silly. Couple that with the fact that spvp is a glorified series of successive boring duels and you have zero potential for e-sport.

My guess is the increase dev response in the forums -after one year into the game- is because they are losing customers in spvp and now in WvW. Too bad..the game had amazing potential.

Everyone can dream or kid them selves to sleep better at night, though.

4 or 5 arrow carts should be able to hold a large group at a door or tight spot!!

If anything they should be more powerful than they are. As they are now I can still dance in and out of multiple rings of arrow fire and not die.

Not everyone can dodge every 2 seconds for a full minute..What is this mysterious dancing you speak of?

Nerf ACs. They should be nerfed hard already. Sieging is a joke with ACs now.

Bring in omega golem, wreck AC’s. Problem solved. Also rushing the AC and also throwing down water fields coupled with blast finishers along the rush path should get you through.

Rallying in WVW is too over the top

So you got one guy from NSP and one guy from FC. you just downed them both in a 3 way fight but what do you do? as soon as you stomp one, the other rallies, if you stomp the other guy the other guy rallies. good luck killing them both at the exact same time.
Do you see the problem? At this point IDC about downstate. OK its rly dumb and this and that but the RALLYING is what I cant stand. you already have sooooooo much HP in downstate and you can rally yourself if left alone for long enough. Why not remove rallying off killing someone in WVW to at least SORT OF make zerging less forgiving. If Im in a 2v4 and me and my buddy manage to down 2 of them shouldnt we be rewarded by having gotten 2 of them out of the fight rather than having them keep 1 spamming us as their bunker ally revives them through our mad attempts of DPS and attempting to stomp? Not only that. If I have 2 down and my friend gets stomped then both come back up and eat me alive rather than I kill both of them and deal with the other 2 on my time. See the dilemma here?
Anet wants to reward smaller groups more? easy fix rallying in downstate for at least WVW to make it less forgiving and more situational (see a opening to help your buddy up since he is momentarily out of danger) NOT well ima just keep the DPS and OHHH LOOK hes back up im so helpful!!!11!!!11!1

Um..Anet devs don’t want to cater to small groups..they cater to zerglings and casuals.

It doesn’t seem like that customer base is going to keep their coffers filled just judging from the guilds mass quitting wvw now. The new match up system was the last nail in the coffin.

Oh well..I guess some people have to learn the hard way.

Learning to play better: Run battery guardians in a group+move as a big climp and AOE on the leader.Lack of boon duration/guardian nerfs ftw.

Don’t roll battery guardians=lose. Balanced zerging at it’s best.

Please for the love of god nerf the god kitten perma-stealth build. It is such a pile of crap that I have to use stealth traps to kill a thief anymore. If you won’t nerf the build, then at least give some classes something that cancels out stealth. Im not talking crap AC skills and expensive traps, im talking like an actual skill or two.

Too late in the game to do this. Might as well enjoy another game till ESO comes out.

You enter WvW, you look at the map, you see a commander shield, you run to the shield, you have no clue what is happening, all you know is to run to the shield.

A Thief duo instantly kills you.

You look at the map, you run to the shield.

You get to the commander, you spend 1 hour following a group of players, all of which are unable to perform any kind of attacks due to lag, we all spend our time tab target auto attacking, we gank solo and small groups, feeling like we are pro as we do this.

we attack a keep, a kitten whom can’t read tags too early.

a larger zerg eats us like a fat man to a pie, we respawn, and blame each other. we log out until the zerg has gone, please start from the beginning to find out what happens next.

That’s what happens when you reward casual zerglings and leave broken pvp mechanics -stealth- unattended for a full year>>>declining customer base.

I know it is buffed by Sigil of paralyzation, power, condition duration. Any other stats affect it? Is it considered pure dps and condition dps thus is affected by the same rules that affects either?

Aside from condition duration reduction, is it affected by toughness?

So tonight a friend and I were laughing at how much damage we were doing on our Necros when we had the idea to try to do some hotjoin matches with no amulet and see if we could kill people still.

It was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in GW2 laughing my kitten off when a thief would jump me and I proceed to turn around and kill them, with no amulet on. Highly recommend you give it a shot if you want some lulz and a challenge.

I actually even dueled a Guardian and killed him. No armor, No amulet. Wtf.

Someone got owned and decided to start a troll/nerf thread.

How about we nerf the rocket boots on your engy, instead?

I learned on this forum that there are 2 players you should ignore. Don’t try to reason with them, because they’ll never see that warrior is actually a really strong class. I have never EVER seen a possitive reply from them. But yea some people are pessimists, some are optimists and some are realists. I like to stay a realist.

These 2 are: XII and that daecello (or whatever) guy.

Would add AlBundy (I think his name is). Daecollo does sometimes spark some discussion and debate that I admit I learn from (usually from posters posting videos or facts about other classes) but much of the contrary discussion does get me out there playing PvP and WvW where normally I’d stick with dungeons and open world PvE.

I will say, the OP’s build looks effective but it’s not easy to learn to use. Need to be able to read the enemy well and I’m not doing so well at that.

I thought Xll and Al bundy were pretty well informed judging from their replies.

Most of your posts , milk, are zerg wvw and – correct me if I’m wrong- you are playing a thief now and in favor of the downed system?

As for LeoG, I can’t see his posts because they keep getting moderated and removed for some reason.

What Xll said about Stefanplc’s video were valid points. I Just see he was aggressive about it and Stefan does not take well to criticism.

Without stability you’re just asking to get rolled as a war. Condi war isn’t good because they have 2 main condi: fire and bleed. Most classes can cleanse that with ease.

Even though this is a waste of my time and clearly you don’t have a constructive attitude, I’ll humor your comments:
- mace stun lasts 3.5 seconds with the sigil I’m using so I get a full 100B each time while my opponent is fully stunned. There’s no point in discussing 1v2 since you’ll never have 1 player beat 2 opponents of the same skill level. For 1v2 to happen you need a bit of luck and for the one player to clearly be better than the other 2 or at least have a much better strategy.
- I have pretty decent condition removal with my heal and Cleansing Ire and I do show several duels vs condition thieves particularly P/D thieves which are a pain to kill and necromancers. Please watch both videos before making dumb comments.
- I don’t play too often so I just don’t have the gold to waste on consumables. I seem to be doing just fine without them.
- Having the same sigil doesn’t defeat the purpose, it just helps me proc it on CD. If you take a look at the dueling video most duels last around 40-60 seconds so if it was to proc on CD you’d be looking at around 4-6k HP which isn’t bad at all.
- Your last comment is ignorant, you clearly didn’t watch everything. Maybe you’re just better and always playing with better people but in EU, in Tier 1 WvWvW this is as good as it gets.

Again, this is probably just a waste of my time but I’d suggest having a more constructive attitude and making well thought comments if you insist on being a negative nancy.

-Yes..I know 100b lasts through the mace stun with the sigil..I meant that you use GS3 before 100b finishes to avoid being focused by another target. Apparently judging from your reply you never thought of utilizing GS3 evade in that fashion.

-Consumables are cheap. Look up the lvl 65 ones. Stop using money as an excuse for ignorance. Also, you have the full Orr Set? I’d assume you farmed a bit and got some cash.

-Cleansing Ire is a joke because you need to land the burst. Have fun doing that with a blind on you and someone kiting you with chill -yea..mobile strikes doesn’t remove chill-.

So basically you are saying you are running a dueling build in WvW and you won against more than one person because they were bad and you were lucky? You should run it in spvp dueling arenas. You will find skilled players there. Try not to edit the losses.
