I think air is totally not worth going into as condi from what I’ve tested. I could get decent condi dmg out by just rotating fire and earth around, but alas, it still feels very weak compared to the other specs. Also I used focus, dagger is not really a good condi off-hand. Maybe for some kinda hybrid build that would probably just not be as good anyway.
Mike says it’s a choice between content and legendaries. How about it’s a choice of not starting to work on a new expansion before hot is finished, balanced, and fixed. Here is a thought, maybe have the 70 people that are working on the new expansion help with fixing the old one, then they can move on.
I’m sorry, but this is so wrong. We paid for that content, it’s been months since hot’s release, and it’s still not here. Don’t put people to work on next expansion if you haven’t finished this one. Or better yet, don’t make expansions if you can’t deliver all the content we paid for in a timely manner. This is a big nail in your coffin. STOP with this expansion nonsense. Fractal backpack, third raid wing, legendary weapons and armor, that is what we paid for, not for a season pass.
There is no way the 11 ingots were intended, probably just added an extra zero somewhere by mistake. In the current state it, in no way, compares to the other two legendary collections. I really, really hope they fix this with tomorrow’s patch…what a disaster.
Same here too.
This change needs a rollback asap. Who is coming up with this stuff, seriously.
What happened with fixing this bug?
This is a step in the right direction, indeed. Please also consider removing the cooldown, since all the skills in it are support based. You are not being a very good support if there is that one person who needs a burst heal, and when your astral is off cd, the person is already dead and rages at you for mistiming your heals.
I played druid in the bwe, and I loved it! I was excited for this new mechanic. I switched from ele main to ranger in that period, because I finally saw a light in the end of the tunnel….Then this. Every single aspect of astral force was nerfed to the ground, EVERY. You can’t even build it anymore unless you have insane healing power, it degrades out of combat, it has a 10s cd, you need a full bar to enter it, and it doesn’t even fill up when in it AND YOU ARE HEALING. It has ZERO synergy with the other specialization lines too. This is just garbage tier now, sorry. Bring back the bwe druid, please. Keep the current changes in pvp even if that is a problem, just give us back the old druid in pve.
Game crashed in the first Hot story instance, ported out of the map, and now there is no way to get back into the instance again.
^ And that is why as a druid you won’t just camp staff and heal all the time, you will be required to pull your weight and heal when it’s called for. That means that you won’t be able to maintain the 15% buff 24/7, but maybe end up with 2 stacks by the time you go into celestial form again. My hope is that the glyph cd trait that plants a seed will function as you would plant it in your avatar form, thus giving your allies a stack each time you use a glyph too. That would make your stack higher and make druid an overall strong pick in raids and potentially 50+ fractals.
For every person that likes it, there are 10 that don’t. No, I don’t want to stick to my target if I don’t want to stick to it. I want to be able to stay max melee range and walk around while I attack, not hump my target and be unable to dodge out of the animation.
^ I second the sword auto attack thing. It’s saddening that you can’t dodge out if it asap unless you use another skill and interrupt your chain.
I’m sorry anet, but this instant nerf to the skill is just wrong on so many levels. It it completely useless in PVP, unless you want to just die instantly without any defense or heal, so I won’t even touch on that—but it was the thing ranger NEEDED to be competitive in PVE, for himself, and his pet.
PVE is all about dishing damage, and since ranger is already handicapped by a pet dmg wise, you want to maximise the boons on your pet, especially might and fury. Since pet is the kitten 6th party member, he benefits from no party buffs, at all—relies solely on his master for the boons. In order to do that, you would need to take traitlines that diminish your personal dps, which in any kinda scenario is just not worth it, because pets can’t dodge aoe, and the ai attacking is horrible and unresponsive. This heal change was a godsent originally, your party buffs up, you click heal, and all the sweet might and fury gets copied to your poor pet. Great, ranger gets a step closer in competing with other prof dps wise. But what do you do? You instantly nerf it to the ground, so much that it’s not even worth taking anymore. Flat rate of 3 seconds or so? What the hell. What will the pet do with 3 stacks of 3 might for 3 seconds and 3sec of fury? It will run out before he first attacks a mob. It’s a HUGE joke and not even worth using anymore over the benefits of healing spring. You made something great for pve ranger, but you just had to take it away asap.
If you want to keep it like this, you should just give us the option to not have a pet, and give rangers a personal dmg increase to compete with other professions. What a joke. Warrior keeps up 25 stacks of might on the whole party + all the buffs, and ranger can’t share that with only his pet. Go home anet, you are drunk, and you hate ranger.
There is not much wrong with the event mechanics, what is wrong is the rewards, and that deters people from doing it. Lower the vendor bloom amount for starters, and in the future, make event mobs drop loot. That is all we want from anet, events that are worth doing. This is just repelling new and old players.
You forgot the Deep Strikes giving s free Signet of Strength bug.
Specific Game Mode
General for PvE (also applies to PvP and WvW, since I see no reason why it should be any different.)
Proposal Overview
Pet AI rework, sword root rework
Goal of Proposal
Since Ranger’s overall dps is adjusted because we have a pet that does a certain percentage of dmg for us, it would seem logical that it would actually do some damage, to moving targets. Right now there is this attack-stop-cancel-run after-try to attack combo that lands absolutely no hits. A player, or mob, could move just a little right and left and the pet wouldn’t hit them at all. This is the greatest downfall of rangers, especially in PvE, because it’s literally a 20-30% dmg loss; so why would anybody take a ranger if they can just take a more safer profession? So, my proposal regarding this is either lower pet damage and give it to the ranger themselves, or make pets faster and more responsive when attacking—after all, they are beasts that stalk and kill. Also make pet f2 skills instant. The other thing is also a common problem, which is the sword root. I really like the leap animation and sticking on your target mechanic, it’s great, but dodge, and skill 2 and skill 3 on sword, should really overwrite the auto-attack chain immediately.
Proposal Functionality
I suppose it’s not much of a change than it’s a fix. Pets should be our mechanic that works in our favour, not the liability that it is now. Same goes for sword, with it’s great stalking mechanic, it brings some of the most annoying downfalls: the inability to dodge on time.
Associated Risks
No risks at all, except less rangers crying about getting kicked from dungeons and having an useless pet.
Is that all there is to ranger changes? That is sad indeed, can’t say I’m surprised, tho. What happened to sword root change? Or fixing our pet, their active skills that don’t give the full boon durations? Also another spirit “nerf”, haven’t spirit builds in pvp suffered enough? Give us back some condition damage in pvp.
Bolt/Howler/AnyofTheGS/Incinerator/
For reference, I have Bolt, Howler, Eternity, Dreamer on mine…never use Dreamer anymore after lb got buff and is overall better dps now.

With my build 30/25/0/15/0 and calculating: spotter, discipline banner, fury; In exotic gear it’s worth taking helm/chest/leggings assassins, but in ascended pure berserker is better. The difference is really minimal, tho.
This is just a slap in the face for all players that worked really hard to reach fotm 80. What will I have to show for the countless hours, armor repair costs, crappy rewards for reaching that? Absolutely nothing. I just can’t accept this, it’s too saddening that I don’t even get to keep my lvl. I don’t think any amount of gold could ever compensate me for this. Seriously Anet, get your kitten together. Don’t punish your players for loving your game and playing all the content to its maximum. It’s bad business.
Extremely viable, if zerk and in melee. I main a ranger, but if I pug, I will always ask bow rangers to leave the party, range is just not an option if you want to be useful (same goes for all the other professions as well). Also, between spotter and frost spirit, that is 10-11% ish increase in dps for each. So, viable? Of course it is, any zerk prof that knows how to play can be useful, just as any non-zerk warrior/guardian/mes (any class) can be complete garbage.
The only time I used it was in dredge fractal at mining suit boss, so if I messed up the agony dodge, I could survive; other two heals were not as efficient there. And that is about the only time I found it handy.
Also curious about EU servers.
Hello ^^
Purely trait wise, it looks like a decent pet buff/your dmg output balance. I also switched to a more pet oriented build after the latest patch, just to see how viable pets actually are now; results have been pretty good so far if I may say so, still not perfect pet mechanics with no dodge, but an improvement nonetheless. My build ( http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQJAVRnEV0FcVQKWwapAYpYvA7CYKOUxXhZ9HQ9ipKRC-jwxAYLAaDEVAI5VEN2ibR0Y11YKXioaA-e ) is a little different in the way that I build for more party play, especially with the fortifying bond, which, when I have warrs/guardians in my party, gives my pet like perma 25 stacks of might. Dem cats do insane amounts of dmg with it, especially combined with Sick Em. I am curious about the combined dmg output difference between our builds, tho. Could be interesting to do the math sometime :P
As for surviving, shouldn’t be a problem. I lvled my Ranger to FOTM lvl 80 with pure zerker gear and 30/30/10/0/0 traits, so anything goes if you know when to dodge. Defense<dodge, now if only pets were given the same option :P

My Ranger is lvl 76 in Fractals, and has been running full berserker with glass “cannon” traits (30/30/10/0/0) from the beginning. Key is just to dodge, and dodge a lot. Omnomberry ghost is a good consumable to go with it—even after nerf. I use Superior Sigil of Accuracy on my longbow.
