BTW, if someone buys the expansion and Anet are including the original game again, does that mean that someone can give that original game to a friend?
Nope. Why would you want to do that anyways, they will have to buy the expansion for 50 anyways in order to play even if you could.

How I see it, you need the game again to play HoT (the new GW2 launcher is the only possible way to get into the game) and you can’t just add on to the current at least yet. And possibly in the future they will offer a expansion only.
If not, it’s bull i’m not getting it at 50$ for the little content they have to offer…they have teased the new specialisations and other things with out a release date and they are keeping there hype train with there "where not actually done yet but give us more cash to pay the developers and in exchange will let you beta test what we have so far) which is really poor tactics IMO
Unless they address the issue with veteran players who already have the base game, there coming across as money hungry…in example with no new character slow etc…
ALL they have to do is allow existing players to buy the expansion as a standalone for like 25-30 bucks. I mean I will buy it, but no way in hell for 50 which includes the core game I already own.
… Are they serious? This has to be the most BS marketing strategy I’ve ever seen…

Can you buy the expansion alone? Why do I have to buy the core game again if I already have it…
I agree, but this is the current situation and I hope they do not run things like this in the future.
Don’t get your hopes up, remember that launch banning debacle? Guild Wars 2 is such a great game, but I’ve lost almost all hope for Anet. They want to be different in their development cycles/style, but have lost sight of all the basics on how to test their features. Adding useless features like camera angles in “Beta” on live servers, pretty much means they know it’s piece of crap to make the game seem like it’s evolving. Really need to take queues from Blizzard and even Riot Games in their transparent and comprehensive methods.

I don’t understand the reasoning and thinking that Anet developers go though when implementing 6-7 camera options, which in turn has affected people in so more negative ways than positive.
It’s even funnier that they labeled it “Beta” on live servers, because they knew it was a piece of crap just to “build hype” towards the expansion…
The jumping stuff were decent, but the zone itself was underwhelming. It just feels like any generic living story with a few new mechanics added. This would have been ok if this was just a quick content update, but they hyped it up with all these ‘teasers’, and what we got was not enough to serve as a beginning to a new LS season. I’m sure more content/zones will be added which will be great, but for the introduction to a new ‘expansion’ so to speak, they really needed a lot more wow factor, especially for those coming back to the game.
Nope, not sure if it’s even possible when the game is compiled into one data file.
congratulation ANET. with the recent karma nerf you’ve succesfully scared away new players from the game.
IMO, the effects of the nerf are over exaggerated. If 3 characters are making an average of 20,000 Karma each in Queen’s Dale, then how much can 1 character make by the time they complete their storyline at level 80? How much can they easily make by going to the other zones their storyline doesn’t take them to? /shrug
Agree it was nerfed, but doesn’t seem like it was overly nerfed to the point of “scaring away new players”
How are people doing that ?
I just did 3 toons thru Queensdale, Gendarran Fields / LA and most of the Asura areas and no where near that much karma !
Low level area farming is just not as efficient, unless it’s during low pop hours. Have to run Cursed Shore, EoTM and World Bosses (mainly Teq)
I think a lot of people simply do not have the endless hours to grind karma. However, if you aim for ~20 shards a day (which is 42000 karma), it makes it a lot more manageable and less frustrating. Do a daily Teq run, a cursed shore run, then a eotm/wvw run, you should be able to get 20 shards quite quickly (2-3 hours).
Always use alternative currencies to buy shards (excluding laurels), Crown Pavilion is a good way, so are fractals if you are really into it.
During low pop hours, just go to lower level zones and solo events/bosses. Also you will get a lot of t6 mats from crafting clovers, depending on your luck.
Definitely interested in learning more about dungeons.
Would really appreciate an invite

Thanks!
Hundreds pissed at ANet at the moment.
Not a very good time to post this buddy.
Anyway, congrats with the Spark.Hundreds? More like thousands.
A lot more than that… times like these you can really separate the good from the bad players in terms of ethics and friendliness.
Maybe you meant InfernoToad? :P
There were quite a few guys on the forums who continuously helped people getting in, I haven’t seen any reply from Anet mods regarding this event.
It’s closed for good.
I don’t think Anet knows where Oceania is…
I agree, it’s really times like these when you can tell the kittens that ignore those whop are unfortunate and say things like “get over it” when they got the chest themselves. For all of those who tried for hours to help people get in, regardless of success of failure, much appreciation for you.
Yep, dccs, crashes, bugs and spending hours trying to find overflows. I’m done with this kitten.
This is what happens when the game is F2P, they have 0 staff to do anything.
They’ve shut down the event….
I’m pretty sure we are overloading the servers, a lot of people who did it already are stealing spots…
Ye me too, crashed twice…
Ye i crashed too.
This IS working, join him teleport then leave.
They are not gonna bother with repeats, probably already abandoned this event and working on the Christmas events which at this rate feels like a bust too.
Even if they just give those who didn’t make it/get the chest some sort of consolation event/prize would be a nice gesture, but my bet they won’t do it.
For all of those people who were unable to attend this event, which is a lot of people, either due to disconnections, lag, work or other commitments; it is very frustrating. This kind of events are far too favorable for those that are hardcore players, who can just afk at the event location and wait, if Anet has any conscience, they would at least give thodr who didn’t make it some consolation event/prize.
The loot for those who made it was unfairly scaled. IF you FORCE players to attend these 1 time, 1 place, 1 boss events that does not repeat, you are really catering this game to hardcore/sit at home all day players.
Disappointing.
I think all the overflow events have finished or filled up, better luck next year I guess…
None of the overflows are working for me, would like an invite if someone is in the event.
IGN is Holyfury
There does seem to be some connection errors, I’ve been getting occasional disconnections usually after idling for 10 minutes or more.
You might have to redownload the data file, try renaming the Gw2.dat to Gw2.old and run the launcher again and see if it begins to download.
Have you tried the repair function for the client?
People need to realise the most probable cause of random shut downs and graphics card issues is due to overheating.
The game has high GPU utilisation when on high settings (native sampling), so you should always monitor your CPU and GPU temperatures while gaming (after you familiarised yourself with the temperatures, then you can play normally).
I have not noticed any changes after any of the Anet patches, If your system is BSODing or randomly shutting off, it’s most likely caused by internal hardware failure or broken drivers.
You can check the cause of the BSOD by looking at the actual BSOD screen, if the error originated from anything that starts with “nv”, it’s a driver fault. You can try removing the driver (including physx, 3D vision etc) and running the driver sweeper. But sometimes, drivers can completely brick out, which means you might need to do a fresh Windows installation.
It is unlikely the patch fried your card. The most likely cause for a card to fail is either overheating due to bad ventilation (or low fan speeds), static when handling the card or PSU/Power surge (or 12v rail defects)
I do believe EVGA offers lifetime warranty on the FTW cards, so you can simply replace it.
The graphics glitches out sometimes when you pan in tight areas, some textures seems to go missing or is overlayed around existing ones.
I think it’s just the camera not tightening when turning, maybe you can try disabling free camera mode, so it auto adjusts.
Is it only GW2 you are having troubles with regarding your connection?
If you were playing at those resolutions, then why were you running a single 570 2GB?
(edited by Zelta.6829)
The game is CPU intensive, unless you play @ extreme resolutions, that GPU setup is pretty much a waste.

Did you check the sticky at the front page regarding ATI black screen issues?
The problem is that despite people having great systems, they clutter is with useless services, startups and other crap, that slows the whole system down.
If it was constantly overheating at 90degrees+, you could be facing permanent hardware damages (especially if it’s a cheaply manufactured card).
Make sure you clean out the card itself and check your 12v rail voltages using a bios reader and make sure it’s within +-10% of 12volts.
If you are facing HDD loading issues with games, it’s probably a good idea to check the SMART data of your drive, make sure seek time, spin up time etc are in not hugely different from the optimal values. If you have been using your HDD for 2-3 years, I would consider buying a new one. You also want to disable as much junk as possible from startup and services, you can use gamebooster’s built in tweak system as a start.
I wouldn’t OC the non Ks, as you will have to raise the baseclock which is very unstable, you might be able to get an extra 400mhz of out it though.
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=708438
The images in post 1 should be all you need.
I personally would leave vcore slightly higher than required, since you are new to OC, because if the system fails to boot due to low voltages, you might get worried and make things worse.
Or you can just use the built in auto-OC system, but that’s kind of lame. Make sure you have sufficient cooling, as pushing the voltages above 1.25ish spikes the temperatures quite a bit.
TBH, 4GHz should be plenty for most games, and you can do it on stock cooling.
I don’t understand why people mix vsync into refresh rates at absolute values.
You will see a HUGE difference, you will be able to play @60fps constant, apart from when you turn quickly in a new zone (which is a memory leak/bug). Lion’s Arch you will probably get around 50-55ish in crowded areas.
You can easily OC that CPU to 4.2, remember to increase the multiplier not the baseclock. Disable C1E and Speedstep. Leave the CPU phase control at optimised and leave it at t-probe for thermal consistency. LLC (load line calibration) should be ultra high and you can probably get away with 1.24ish as vcore. Leave the rest.
There seems to be problems with superhigh causing problems, but 4.2 is just about right for everyday gaming etc.
Take the card out, get a can of compressed air, clean the PCIE slot and the graphics card (the connectors) thoroughly. Then use a vacuum (without the floor attachment) and again clean it out.
Seriously, you guys need to read more about refresh rates and LCD architecture first before posting elaborate discussions.
The -cuda does nothing at all I’m afraid.
