So what is the best gear option for Revenant in raids? I would really want to play raids but not holding back my teammates by not having the right gear…

As many of you I wanted to see the revenant in action. The thing is that everytime I log in, the screen starts to flash, shutter and then freeze. Sound and char.skills still work, is just the screen that constantly shutters and freezes. If I alt+tab and reenter the game, works fine for a few seconds again. The only way I can make is work decently is to lower the graphics, even subsample it to not run in the problem.

The other professions are working fine with my normal graphic settings, shuttering only occures every now and again, but not the feezing, so that s why i am guessing it could be the revenants effects from legends causing the problem.

The thing is that I have the minimun reqirements for the game. 6 GB of RAM, 2GB Geforce 740M and a 2.5 Ghz i3 processor, the game runs on high at about 30-40 fps even 50 in less demanding areas.

It is so frustrating to play it on super low, just to be able to play with revenant. Asked the guildies, searched the forum, and googled the problem, but I could not find the problem.

Does anyone have this problem, or ran into it before HoT? Could this be on my end or Anet?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

p.s. I repaired the client, cleared cache and still the problem persists.

WhenI log on Revenant the game keeps shuttering, screen flashes and then eventually freezing. If I lower my graphics it works fine. Note that I have the minimum requirements to run the game and this kind of things did not happen before. Works fine on my other professions, with maxed graphics.

Having the same problem, re installed the game and still not working. Character faces won`t appear, then when I log on after 2-3 sec the game crashes and the same dialog box appears as silvertongue.7650 had.

Is the DirectX fix as mentioned by anx.7549 working? (p.s. I have all the latest nvidia and win 10 updates)

I sometimes find myself standing near another player zooming in just to screenshot that low resolution looks.

The difference would be that you would know what theyre wearing then.

Oh sorry I misunderstood what you asked… I tought I should ask the devs. about implementing something like a skin/dye inspection. Silly me…

Your intent is pure, but it might destroy pick up groups. Imagine joining a group, then being inspected, only to be told “… your wearing 5/6 Berserker and 1 Sentinels piece? get out of here” then you get kicked.

I would support this if it just showed the cosmetic skins and dyes, and not the stats

Yes, you are right, I can`t see how I managed to oversee this newly emerging elitism and how that would affect this. But my point is still there: at least skins and dyes!

Inspeting skins and dyes is fine by me.

but what keeps you from just asking them?

Talking about minor improvements in the upcoming expansion: is it just me thinking this or an `inspect the gear your fellow player` would indeed be a cool thing. The devil is in the details and as gw2 has such a big deal going on with the cosmetic variety, it would be a shame not exploring its beauty further. I am sometimes amazed how many players get the gear combination/dye working perfectly for their profession/race, etc. I sometimes find myself standing near another player zooming in just to screenshot that low resolution looks. Would an option which enables you to look at another players armor in detail be so much to ask? They talked about spectating in PvP and how they want players to be transparent with their builds and skills, couldn`t they do the same with gear, in PvE also? Surely I am not the only one who tought about this. And yes I know its something WoW had many years before and that gw2 stays away from anything that WoW had/did, but really can`t we just look past these nonsense? They can call it anything other than `inspect` if that makes them feel better…

I am just saying, its a shame not to dive in deeper into gw2 fashion… since its also considered by many to be the end game stuff :P

Let me hear your toughts!

Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

ZennithRising.8653

Hello! My question as you can figure from the title: Will the boxed expansion come with at least 1 free charater slot? (or at least gems/voucher to be able to purchase one)

As I found myself grinding money for a new character slot, a guildmate asked this question which never occurred to me before. He mentioned that all of Gw1 expansions came with one and maybe Gw2 might as well… Tried to dig up something from the recent announcements/news but I never heard this being mentioned, maybe it just slipped by me? I ask this because I would rather spend my time/money on crafting and making ascended stuff rather than a new char. slot for my revenant.

If not, would you like the devs to include this in the package?

Thanks!

Race for Engineer?

ZennithRising.8653

Hello there! I am nearing up goldwise to buy a new char. slot and my next one will be an engi. I was wondering what race should it be? Cosmetic wise interests me the most since that is gw2 endgame)

I would like to point out that I prefer the male versions! I am not a male-playing-female characters type (no gay stuff, just that I like to immerse myself in the game as `I would be that char`, and since I am a male in real life…. you get the point). I like to respect the lore and my preferences in these decisions, but since I had a couple of dissapointments with my asura and other races I really wanna think this through… I know charr would be the obvious choice, I don`t prefer them as much as an asura (the 2nd most obvious choice) but I like charr better than the human for example (i see enough humans in real life, we are playing a fantasy game after all). Sylvari are cool but I don`t want to rely much on their cultural armor, not for engi. anyway, idk. how other armors would fare on them. Norns are cool, big humanoid race… aka taller humans, still I can accept norns since I like their lore and everything looks cool on norns… but even medium armor?

Also I would factor in the second thing as animations. What races would have cool animations as an engi.? For example I like asura elementalist casting meteor shower, or asura guardian casting empower… or just simply asura wobbly animations (yeah I like asura a lot). The one thing I hate about asura that light armor looks horrible on them (with very few exceptions). Now this is what I don`t want on my engi. and I am willing to switch to another race if that`s the case with engi. asuras.

Anyway I hope you get the point and can help me out here, I would appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance!

ZennithRising.8653

Hello there! Seeing there are a lot of similar questions out there, but not exactly helping me I thought I`ll give it a try and post this topic.

This is another “which profession should I play” question… but before you all jump at me saying that “I should play whatever suits my playstyle” should hear me out first. I tried out all the prof. in the game, huge fan of every one of them, every one has something special for me and I know every has a flaw (or many in some cases). I like PvE a lot, but I also want my `main` to be playable in PvP and WvW as I like those too. I `only` have 6 lvl 80 and I am desperatly trying to get gold for other 2 char. slots.

I have an ele as sort of my `main`, then a guard. cause it`s like a hevy spell/swordwielder elementalist-ish (broadly speaking). I made a warr. to see what`s the hype about, so did with the thief, ranger and mesmer. I made then all after I played around with classes like necro. and engi, professions that I levled until 50+ then deleted them cause reasons (which now I deeply regret).

The thing is I like them all for different stuff which is also the problem, I can`t settle down to play one prof. for too long, and that`s why I don`t feel I am progressing as I should be. I feel like it`s keeping me `immobilized`… I see guildies and other players having at least 1 legendary or at least ascended gear… – me? – barely have artificing at 500 on my ele. and made my 1st ascended staff…. I know I could do more, but for the reson mentioned above I keep abandoning my `main` (whichever that may be). One day I feel it`s my guard. the next its my ele. again, then I want some mesmer, but then again mesmer its not like my ele. then I go back to my ele. but that feels too `old` and I want to play something new… I like the ele. because it has the combos and many skills, its dynamic playstyle, but then again it kinda feels way too hard sometimes for all those reasons… You see my dilemma? I must be the wierdoest gw2 player ever… help me!

Now I stopped progressing with my ele. again and started making some money (sowly) to buy my next char. expansion slot to make one of the last 2 prof. I don`t have at lvl 80. But again, I can`t decide which one to make first engi. or necro.? I can be easly influenced. I like something close to a spellcaster that deals dmg. not necessarly in the front line (like guard.) but also can support the krewe in a dungeon run (not. like ele and definietly not like ranger). I don`t like the lack of AoE (like mesmer) but don`t wanna focus on AoE and DoT (like necro.) And the list can go on with the other professions…

I see other players mastering many if not all the professions and I admire them, comparing myself to them I am at the point where I know a little of everything but not enough to be good. I want this to stop somehow, especially if HoT comes out, I don`t want to waste my time in this expansion too as I did until now from 2012 (with some brakes).

My questions: are there other players out there suffering from this decisions like I do.. this `altoholic`craze? Is there a definitive cure for it or just a way to deal with it on the short term? I know… hard to answer these first world problems. I would however appreciate any answer.

Thanks and sorry for the long speech, hope you got my point nevertheless!

p.s. Sorry for the mistakes but english is not my first language.

Clearing up some stuff?

in Ranger

Posted by: ZennithRising.8653

ZennithRising.8653

Recently I made a ranger cause I saw that its kinda the 2nd most played class after guardian (correct me if I am wrong). I had a ranger before, early in the game, but I stopped after level 36 or so cause it felt very repetitive and lackluster in combo, boon and skill variety. I always liked the ranger/hunter/scout class in rpg games, the whole ideea with the pet backing you up, someone you can rely on and all. Now that I`ve played a couple of days, leveled it up to 80, traited, runed myself up (spending all my money)… I kinda feel akward again, almost the same feeling I had back in 2012 when I stopped at 36. I visited a lot of forums and guides as I heard a lot of hate, and some high praise about the class, which makes me think this may be the most controversial class in the game (again, correct me if I am wrong).

Cons go as this:
-getting kicked out of groups cause reasons
-having little or no choice between weapons (lb/s/w/g are pretty much it)
-pets are usless and can get you into more trouble (bear is the must have, all else is pretty much rubbish)
-very little boon capabilities which can help the party
-almost no single combo fields and party combos are also weak
-besides signets and 1 or 2 others, all utilities are said to be usless aswell (traps most of all)

Pros:
-very good dps if you are lazy or happy about spamming a 2-3 buttons and maybe switch wep. if you really want to go bananas
-vulnerability and cripple uptime (but that`s just it)
-good in PvP, but reqires high skill to master the class
-(maybe a few others)

Now I don`t know much about the class that`s why I made this topic, what is the core of the ranger? Why does every 2nd player play it? Is it because its easy to get into as it does not have so many skills to worry about and combos as for example an ele or engi? Isn`t this a very passive class, lacking many of the dynamic mechanics that gw2 made for this game?(you may dodge, if you have to, but lack of combos drive me crazy…and skills…man the cross play between skills seems so weak)

All in all I really wanted to get into ranger, I thought it will be fun and will be a joyful change after my ele and guard, but if I were to compare the dynamic way of playing other prof. ranger would be somewhere at the end of the group.

Don`t hate me for saying all this, I just summed up what I heard/experienced in this small amount of time when playing the class. I really want to like rangers, maybe with a little more insight I might just do that.

Thanks!

A little dilemma with the guardian

in Guardian

Posted by: ZennithRising.8653

ZennithRising.8653

So after a thief, an elementalist and recently a warrior i decided to break the ice and see what is the big fuss about the guardian. I did not quite like the warrior because i don`t see it very flexible in playstyles, its just straightforward dps with big HP and DMG. Ele is my fav so far because its varied playstyles (weapon and skill wise), however it has limited support abilities which i hear the guardian excels at… As i forced myself through the leveling i kinda enjoyed playing the guardian, i did not expect much until i hit lvl 80 so i switched weapons almost every day (scepter+focus being my fav. for lvl-ing). But after hitting level 80 i feel almost like with my warrior… its just does not feel right, i expected… more? I have buffs and support abilities but not the fun the ele gave me… its weird, before i didn`t have a guardian i heard a lot a ppl. talking about it. Maybe i was just overhyped or is there really something in this class that i just can`t see yet? I tried to look for answers, but most of them are outdated or just plain off topic. I am running: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQJARSl0ApWo97wVI8DNBBRl9TkgLoVBA2pwKMDA-TVCEABTcEAeS5XcPAAFV/Jn9Hq4CAAwhAwQlgupLIAACwNvZ28mBO6RP6RP6R7m38m38m3sUAMpMC-w

As i saw with no guidance at all, it suits my expectations, however its nothing like the `ads.` said. no flashy powers and mindblowing guardian action, just restricted to shouting some phrases and using my virtues… can`t seem to have many combo options as well… compared to the ele. Thought about rerolling on an engi or mesmer (especially these two since they are hyped as well) and i don`t think that`s right this early after hitting lvl 80. Note that i played every profession for at least 30 lvl, however forcing myself through 80 was only with the above mentioned 4 classes. So could someone elighten me of what i am doing wrong? What are my options? Should I just leave this class? I want: support, dps, combos and just overall fun like with an ele (minus support). I know i should just continue playing with ele if i want all that, but i got bored of that class and maybe i got too used to it? And i also know that every prof. is different.

Thank you in advance for any reply!

Best crafting for fast lvl?

ZennithRising.8653

Hi everyone! So I recently started my 3rd alt char.(warrior, after thief and ele I thought a heavy armor melee would make the game interesting again). Now leveling in Gw2 is very cool, I have no prob. with that, but still, the 3rd time its not that fun anymore (I also had other chars., so I did my fair share of lvl-ing). I have around 30 gold to spend on crafting for a new char.since I heard crafting is the fastest way to lvl, and that`s what I am looking for. I used instant lvl 20 birthday gift, and now I am lvl 25.

When should I start crafting for lvl and what professions should I choose for fast/cheap way of doing it? Lvl 400 should be enough for now as it gets much harder afterwards as I know…

PVE Ele - switch or not?

Posted by: ZennithRising.8653

ZennithRising.8653

Hello all!
I just finished lvl ing… and I still don`t know much with ele. I want to run PVE mostly, maybe WvW a little… I rushed in to buy (with the little money I had) Valkyrie Gear for the extra vitality in dungeons. Traits are: 30/30/10/0/0 (F: II – VIII – XII; A: VI – IX – XII ;E: VI). Superior Rune of the Elementalist (cause I didn`t had money for something else). I also run S/F (LH). My questions: Is this viable for a newbie dungeon runner? Or should I switch to full Zerk (maybe a combianation of both)? What are the pros and cons for Valkyrie and Zerk? And with what can I live without? I would start to costumize my gear and I would like to not switch it anytime soon Thanks!

What exactly do you want to know about ele’s? They have high damage and the lowest health pool, and CAN get smashed up close. But there are dagger builds out there. The most commonly used weapon on ele is a staff tho i much prefer the fresh air scepter / focus build..

Well for starters I want to know how can you get the best out of ele in PvE, since that is my main thing now. Like different play styles with diff. wep. (but mostly staff). However I`ve tried the others and I like them! There sure must be lots of ways to play PvE with a class like this. However recently I`ve read a lot of trash talk about ele, mainly that they are not good at PvE… Which make me doubt swithching to it from thief (PvP).

Leveling is boring and I can`t make it any more quicker or fun (that instant lvl 20 birthday gift definietly makes a good help). I think I`ll have to find a quick way to get to 80, and then try out the different builds you guys posted.

Also is it better to be more supportive in a party (buff, heal)? Or more dmg dealer (dps)? What goes the best nowdays with ele?

Thanks very much, you`ve started me on my journey!

Hello there!
I just started an elementalist character, and it is so vast, that even after reading about, can`t really comprehend all the mechanics that are involved. I played a thief so far, but had my breaks with the game, so I would like a good PvE build, if possible with staff. I would like all out DPS, Crit, Condition Dmg? Is that good for starters? Or is there another way? I`ve heard that with ele there is a lot of dodging involved, I don`t know if I can keep that up at bossfights (i know i was a thief, but haven`t played the game for a while now). Also, a good trait advice would also come in handy what where should I invest… maybe a helpful link, or something!?

Thief PvE spec simply?

in Thief

Posted by: ZennithRising.8653

ZennithRising.8653

Hello all!

So I am just back from a long 9 month break from the game… I run a thief, and I like PvE (i know not the best combination). My specs are like this: 30 Critical, 15 Acrobatics, 25 Trickery. I rely much on the stealing buffs and dodge buffs and I also like to support my teammates. Now I asked around and seen plenty of forums, but I can`t decide! I take into account that the game changed much (!) from back when this spec was good for me. But today I just kept dying in the dungeons, besides that I have exotic armor, and people said that I should respec/change armor spec. I would also like to mention that I like using the short bow (a lot) and maybe dd? So I would like something that can keep me up, but also do some serious damage, maybe some support for my mates?

Any information/ advice would help!

Also I think I need new armor and weapons, and taking into account the karma vendors aswell cause I have plenty of unspent karma… so if you could advise me with some armor aswell.

Thanks!

Thank you for your useful, and prompt answers! You help me a lot! Well I pretty much like D/D for the high DPS. . . I would like something like Burst DPS, kill the enemy before he kills me. . . as for secondary, i leveled up with P/P. i like it, don`t get me wrong, but i would like a change of phase, and i am really into SB. . . I would like to be able to change them, if i can. I am not really into S/P – S/D – D/P and that kind of combination, because i can`t really play effectively with them, and i haven`t seen much ppl. with them, but i would be open to try it out. I will make some money and buy gear, but shouldn`t i spend some of the karma? is it really not worth buying gear from karma vendors?

p.s. Until now i`ve played buff/heal classes, this time i wanted something new… straightforward. so in dungeons if i can`t really help them by healing, buffing, i would like to help my mates by DPS-ing as hell. I`ve also heard about a stuff that thief can bring to the party. like the mobs start with 25% less HP, or something like that. Is that true? How can I do that?

As the title says, i have just reached level 80. And this is my first thief(not to mention character in gw2) to make it this far. I have looked for guidance, talked with ppl. but still nothing 100% as where to go next. First of all i am interested mostly in PvE (i know not the thief`s speciality). . . but it`s doable, from what i`ve heard. I haven`t done many dungeons, so my gear is basic. So any of you out there doing the same thing, and willing to share some advice? I would like to know what traits are best (acrobatics? trickery?) and why? What weapons should i use (i like to do some variety here, i know P/P is best for dungeons but i get bored fast of the same wep. type). And what skills? (uitility, elite) also why? And for last: what gear i should buy? I have 45 jugs of karma, and another 24k on me. . . so should i go for arah karma vendors. and pick the armor, with best attributes? I don`t have money for Tier 3 armor, nor to buy from Black Lion Trading Post. Also what is important for PvE? Power? Toughness? Precision? This would be it. I would appreciate it if you have some thoughts in plus. Thank you in advance!
