I currently am on fractal 18. RNG has been good to me if you are going by quantity over quality. Not so much by quality though.
I have 7 ascended rings. 5 of them are statistically identical; 103 condition damage, 68 precision, 68 toughness. As a warrior, condition damage isn’t very useful.
I think it would be very helpful (its not asking all that much either) if ascended rings could be salvaged and could drop: Fractal relics, Pristine fractal relics, vial of coagulated essence, and glob of coagulated essence.
Guaranteed: 5 Fractal relics (chance of 5-20)
Pristine fractal relics, vials, and globs should be treated like Globs of Ectoplasm are on level 80 rares IMO. Highest chance of getting vial, then glob, then fractal relics.
Note: I know that Pristine Fractal Relics were added to the game for people with bad RNG luck and that they can be used to purchase whatever ring you’d like; but i feel like the rings should be salvageable. They take up a decent amount of space and are pretty worthless once you get the two you want.
If it works for you, then great.
Personally, I would love to run into you on the battlefield using my hammer & mace/shield build.
One of the bigger problems that I see is your utility skills; you have 2 stun breakers, and thats it. Pretty much just one though, because I’m assuming you pop both Endure Pain and Frenzy at the same time.
No condition removal? I bet confusion-based mesmers have a fun time with you.
But don“t you already have to play pve to get the exotic armour?

Now Anet announced continuing progression, rendering all my effort trash.

One could say I worked in order to get money.
From that money I bought what was announced to be a DvD.
Anet broke my DvD.
Now Anet forces me to continuously to (work to) pay fees, to watch the film again.

You bought Guild Wars 2, knowing that it is an MMORPG that has patches and updates with new content, and is forever changing.
ANet has announced a future patch with a small amount of information. You then make a ton of assumptions about it, turn into a child, and moan about it.
Now, it is your choice whether or not to keep playing. You don’t have to pay a subscription fee or anything.
Please, people. Stop complaining, let the patch come out, analyze the options, then you might realize its not so bad. And if it is, then you can complain. Complaining about a patch when all we know is a little bit of pre-patch notes? Come on.

Why is getting badges even necessary? I’m not seeing why this is whine-worthy.
500 are needed for the Gift of Battle, which is needed to make a legendary weapon. Also, some people like to gear up while doing WvW, and the way to do that is to get badges to get armor/weapons.
Note: i’m not one of the “whiners”, just offering advice to someone pretty ignorant on the subject.

i have 700 tokens with 1300 kills. try doing some jumping puzzles
I’m currently using a 0/0/30/30/10 shout build. I use hammer + sword/shield most of the time, but i often swap weapons. When moving around in WvW i equip a warhorn, rather than a shield. If i foresee a tanky situation coming up, i’ll equip a mace, rather than a sword. I often swap my utility skills around, equipping endure pain and stability when I’m going to need to take a lot of damage. This makes your 6/6 runes somewhat pointless for a brief moment, but it is often worth it.
You should pick up Rune of the soldier. Its + vitality and + toughness, and the 6 slot bonus makes all of your shouts cure a condition, so SIO removes 2 conditions.
Also, good choice on the Knight’s gear.

Same here. I’m a little confused as to why everyone is freaking out. The patch isn’t even out yet so it could be easy as hell for all we know. And I need something to do, anyways.
Not 3 months in and already power creep and gear grind?
Unless this Ascended armor is here to replace already-hard-to-get exotics and make it easier to obtain max-stats armor, this isn’t a good addition to the game.
Hard to get? Are you serious? It is so easy to get your exotic armor set in this game its not even funny. I had full exotics 2 days after i hit 80, and that is while working 40 hours a week. The crafted sets are fairly, cheap, about 2g a piece, and the dungeon sets are easy to get. Run all paths of AC once a day (1 hour in a good group) and you can get the boots and gloves. With 2 days and 8~ gold, you have your set.
Granted, they don’t look that great (Draconic heavy armor is pretty ugly), but thats why there are multiple dungeons. Build up your level 80 armor set based on stats, then work on aesthetics. I made my full crafted set when i hit 80, and since then have transmuted it with gear from CoE, Arah, AC and TA.
Personally, I’m really looking forward to this update and the new gear. I know it’ll keep a few of my close-to-quitting guild mates playing

I think some structures need to be effected by some conditions, but not all.
For example, a Centaur siege weapon shouldn’t take any bleed damage, but it should take burn damage. IMO, burn damage should be extra effective against things like siege and other wooden structures.

Starting today i’ve been losing connection to the server about every 45 minutes. It has happened 4 times since i’ve been on today (5:15 to 7:55, est).
when i was kicked i was:
2x in Lions Arch (during Halloween events)
1x in Twilight Arbor
1x standing outside of TA chatting in /guild
Code=7:1000:7006:836:101.
Also, the first time logging in to the game causes my mouse to be very odd. Everything seems fine initially, but when i click down with either the L or R mouse button, my character screen spins uncontrollably as if my sensitivity was set to the max and i was quickly moving my mouse. This seems to be fixed after i completely exit the game and start over (not 100% of the time though). This happened a few times when the Mac Beta Client was initially released, and has started happening again in the past few days.
Should i also post this in the Game Bugs forum? i’m not sure if this is mac client related.

This is why I bought the Pirate Sledge as soon as I could. Most hammers are already rather weak looking, and being an Asura doesn’t help that fact. The Pirate Sledge seems to have been sized decently, and slinging around an anchor looks cool!
only looks decent on Asura…size does not scale.
size scales… i’ve seen greatswords equipped by Charr that are as big as my asura, and when my asura has a GS equipped, it looks like a charr’s 1H sword.
@ Edelweiss: disagree w/ everything you said about swords. MH Sword damage is 1k 1k 2k crits, easy and quickly. 1 & 2 autoattacks stack bleeds. I’ve been using MH sword for a few weeks and I haven’t lost a single 1v1 fight in wvw. I’ve won multiple 2v1, 3v1 and 4v1 as well; took about 10 min but a win is a win.
Mobility is pretty important in PvP/wvw, so being a GS warrior sucks when your highest dmg skill renders you unable to move.
axe off hand = suck
axe main hand = high DPSBut why do you think it sucks? From what I have seen it is a great weapon.
Axe #5 does less damage than Axe #1.
Axe #5 forces you to lose control of your character except to dodge.
Axe #4 does ok damage but most of the time Warriors are fury up from FGJ or Sig of Rage so having more fury won’t help (doesn’t stack).
Your better off with another weapon in almost every scenerio.
Sure the adren gain is good but I’m never adren starved since i take embrace the pain (defense I).
- you can still jump, move and dodge.. what control are you losing?
I hate when people overreact to a comment and take it to extreme lengths. All Jake said was that it wasn’t impressive that you exploited. And of course you go all extremist on him and say you must have to solo a dungeon wearing no armor and only using auto attack. Quit being a child when someone points out a flaw & offers constructive criticism, take it like a man.
Either way, minus the Champion Wurm fight, I found it impressive.
Speaking of frying pans. I wouldn’t mind having one that functions as a mace… i’d like to fry up some asuras (even though I’m asura)
No. its fine the way it is. work for your gear, it honestly only takes a week to earn enough money to get a crafted set of exotics. he’ll, 2 days after i hit 80 i crafted my entire set. simply ask in LA if there is a level 400 Armorsmith, Leatherworker or Tailor around.
I’m considering the same thing. i’m currently running sword/warhorn & rifle w/ knights draconic armor, 6 soldier runes. I have a decent amount of TA tokens and am considering saving up to earn an entire set of it in order to have a nice set with + condition damage. the only thing holding me back is the survivability; i feel like if i lose the 6/6 soldier set bonus (shouts remove conditions) my survivability would take a huge hit.
I’m also really loving the permanent swiftness and fury from my current build, and i’d be sad to see that go. the mobility is fantastic (although it could be as easy as equipping the war horn while traveling).
I don’t care if it requires adrenaline. I don’t care if it requires you to stand on your head while pouring a glass of milk. That’s not the point.
So some people like yourself find the spell useful in solo or small group pvp. Now that I am aware of the cast animation I am sure I will have no issues dodging it in solo or small group pvp. As for the rest of your post… it is devoid of any content addressing my argument.
Yeah, it doesn’t really apply to your post. I’m just slightly frustrated because someone earlier in the thread (maybe it wasn’t >.<)said that all we have to do is use kill shot and we’re good. My bad.

I have not commented on the warriors downed state as of yet, but I feel the need to at this point. Those that are trying to say it is bad.. it has been asked that you specifically identify a profession with better downed abilities but warriors trying to defend their downed state skip over this request.
In my experience mesmers and warriors have the best downed state abilities of all the professions. If a warrior plays it correctly it looks something like this: > auto attack casually, while you wait for said assailant to get within melee range > continue to auto attack for 2.5 seconds while you laugh at them casting the “finish them” capping spell > knock them on their face with a hammer > continue auto attack for 2.5 seconds while watching and laughing assailant attempting to claim his will deserved kill buy capping you > if at this point your opponent has remaining life go ahead and stand up (as if you were never downed in the first place) swing sword profit?
Thief: 1 throw knife (hits multiple foes, cripples, 2nd knife bleeds + poisons) 2 teleport, 3 disappear.
Guardian: aoe knock back (wtf?) 3 aoe heal + damage foes
Engineer: 3 aoe booby trap (launches foes)
Necro: 2 Fear, 3 damage and poisons foes (aoe)
Ele: 2 immobilize, 3 SAME THING AS VENGEANCE: Assume a mobile, vaporous form, returning to a downed state when the effect ends.
I wont go into mesmer because you already know its strong.
When warriors use vengeance, they stand back up and die (for good, not back to downed state) after about 6? seconds. In order to stay alive, they have to select a certain trait which is 20 points into Discipline. That trait allows them to live IF they kill an enemy in that 6 second time period.
Seems to me like the warriors are the only people that feel the spell is balanced. You saw me first in a pack of 15 people and I was unaware that you were kneeling or standing b/c there were 3 norns in front of you and 500 spells going off… you reserve the right to one shot me. That’s rich.
So, the only argument I’m hearing is that it takes forever to cast and it’s really easy to dodge. This spell is close to useless in small group or solo combat. And most players will be spending time pvping in smaller groups than 15+. Why again do you think this spell promotes good game mechanics/design if it’s only useful purpose is to exploit being very hard to identify in large group pvp combat to instantly kill someone who may or may not be a more highly skilled player than you?
Warriors need to have full adrenaline for KS to do a lot of damage. In order to get adrenaline they need to do damage (or take damage, if they take a certain trait). Its their F1 skill (just some info in case you weren’t aware).
Kill Shot is definitely not “close to useless in small group or solo combat”.
I’m running sword/warhorn + rifle.
My strategy: while traveling in wvw i use sword/horn for mobility (perma swiftness), and I switch to rifle when i see an enemy. Buff up, debuff player, #2 skill cripple, #4 skill vulnerability, #3 skill volley. depending on my adrenaline level and how close they are to me (obviously farther if caster), i either:
Full Adrenaline:
⢠#5 skill KB then kill shot, swap to sword/horn & #4 skill for swiftness buff & cure cripple, #5 skill for vigor buff/add weakness debuff, then #2 skill to leap/close the gap and apply #1 skill bleeds + #2 skill cripple. they should be dead at that point. if not, i should have enough adrenaline to use sword F1 skill which immobilizes them (3 sec full adrenaline i think, less adrenaline = less time on immobilize) and does damage & applies bleeds.
Not Full Adrenaline:
⢠#5 skill KB, swap to sword/horn, #4 + #5 skills, close gap with #2 skill, apply cripple & bleeds. depending on how low they are i could:
low hp (30% ish): use the sword F1 skill. should be close to down here, if not down already.
decent hp (40% or more): apply bleeds using #1 skill, apply #4 + #5 warhorn buffs before swapping back to rifle where i #5 KB, #4 vul, #2 crip, #3 volley, F1 kill shot. should be dead.
Of course i didnt mix in reapplying signet of rage (might, swiftness, fury buff), FGJ (fury, might buff), or OMM (vulnerability debuff). Also didnt mix in that all of those shouts (FGJ, OMM, and SIO) remove conditions, SIO removes 2 conditions (6 rune specialty) and breaks stun. Didn’t factor in dodging enemy abilities either, and ill have 2x as many dodges from #5 warhorn skill.
It isnt as easy as KSing someone from a distance. Some warriors may do that, but they suck. And you should kill them.

Warrior downed state is ridiculously bad.
1 Throw rock
2 interrupt w/ hammer (single target)
3 vengeance.
There’s no reason you couldn’t finish him off if he goes down in a 1v1. he has 1 interrupt and veng is on a cooldown when he first goes down.
Also, he probably stacked might using FGJ and sigil of rage. he also couldve thrown OMM on you to give you 10 stacks of invuln.
Anyways, you downed him, so whats the complaint? He specced into being able to hit you for 14k, so less defense = you downing him.
You are positive that you aren’t color blind right?

I’d def. go with toughness then.
The laser field in CoE was a little difficult the first time i tried it, but now i can get it first time without fail. theres a simple method to follow
@Grezko, it really depends on what you want to defend against. Toughness has no affect on conditions, whereas vitality will give you HP and let you live longer vs. conditions. So you wont get hit as hard from bosses and such with toughness, but the DoTs will still tear you a new one.
I personally am stacking toughness over vitality on my armor, but i plan on getting some jewelry high in vitality.
Dolyak sounds like its pretty good, i havent used them so i dont know how good the regen is though.
(1): +25 Toughness
(2): +15 Vitality
(3): +50 Toughness
(4): +35 Vitality
(5): +90 Toughness
(6): Gain Health Regeneration
Yojack, do you think the Nightmare set of armor from TA would work well with this build? I believe its Prec/Condition dmg/Toughness.
For Hodgins: Have 1 player with a lot of CC protect Hodgins, the rest of the group destroy burrows. I’ve been the CC guy every time i’ve ran it; warrior with a hammer & mace/shield. Fear is very helpful.
For Tzark: theres multiple ways to do this.
1) Run around and destroy quickly as possible while keeping a close eye on the burrows.
2) Have 4 players destroying burrows on one half and in the middle, and have 1 player kiting the other half until it is finished collecting.
also, you could try the same strategy as Hodgins path; have one (or two) person(s) sitting near the crystal to CC any gravelings that get through the other players destroying burrows.

however, i’d recommend getting toughness/power/prec or vital gear if you plan on running dungeons. CM was probably costly because of your toughness (along with your party not knowing mechanics).
I haven’t read the entire thread, so forgive me if someone already mentioned it; I’ve seen a few comments about “unlocking” Explorer Mode. You don’t need to complete Story Mode in order to do Explorer Mode. Only the leader of the party needs to have done SM before.
I have the Kodan Shield and a couple hundred more tokens, yet i’ve never completed HotW SM. I also ran AC EM multiple times before running SM (since then, I’ve ran SM). I’ve also never run TA SM, yet I have 240+ tokens from there.
I crafted my set of Knight’s Draconic Armor. Knights has Toughness/Power/Precision. Berserker has Power/Precision/Crit dmg%. I preferred knights because in dungeons i almost constantly have fury anyways and am usually buffed to over 50% crit, which is viable for me and the toughness really helps survivability.
Dude, its 2g. yes. i made 6g yesterday running 5 paths of AC and 2 paths of TA (as in, money isn’t that hard to come by).

You’ll be lucky to get 3 seconds of invulnerability from EP. That tooltip is wrong, I swear.
Tip for fighting project alpha: dont move. when he casts those aoes, the inner circle is a safe spot. the only time this wont work is if you and another group member’s aoe circles overlap somewhere and you get hit.
another alternative tip for project alpha that worked well in the front door path, the last fight. it might work in all the other paths, but this is the one that i discovered it on and i havent ran it since: get him up against the wall and bash the hell out of him. every time he aoes, just evade into the wall. this lets you stay in the same spot and maximizes dps. also, if all (or maybe just 3) of the group members are there, it allows you to break the crystal very fast.
For some reason, links on gw2skills.net need to be copy & pasted into the URL in order for them to work. however, because your links are shortened and have … on them it doesnt work.
I like your choice of sigils (just bought blood) and runes, as i plan on buying a full set of soldier’s.

do you think you can get mass AOE tourney group everydays whenever you login gw2? are you serious? and a simple aoe doesn’t kill all of them. and skills have recharge. if mesmer keeps spawning clones, i can’t use AOE skill again for a while. clone is just crazy OP.
oh yes you realize it is clone but it looks exactly same like real one. you have no time to check all the clones in fighting. everyone is crazy strong in tournament than random server. even they have real strategies. you dont have even time to think.and if mesmer uses Moa morph, it means you die.
i didn’t know “simple AoE” translated into “mass AoE tourney group”. if you don’t have any professions in your group that have a simple AoE, your group won’t go very far in tournaments. a simple auto attack will do enough damage for you to realize the clones are clones (1 auto attack seems to take their health down to 50%)
also, try using CTRL + LClick to target the real mesmer when the fight initially starts.

So you mean people living on less populated time-zones have more quality compared to people living on more populated time-zones?
I’m not necessarily saying that those players that are active during the “night” are better than the other server; what I meant by quality is the strategy of attacking when the other server isn’t active.
Granted, it wasn’t really an intended strategy (at first) because it just happens from the differences of time zones, but now it is a strategy. Stay up until 3AM and rip the other server a new one.
Nice to see MM from their own perspective instead of watching them wipe enemy PuGs. Anyway, don’t know why you are trying, people always gonna whine cause bad. Warrior is the beefiest profession for the least effort of all. Only things that come close are well played Guardians and Mesmers(so far I’ve seen like 2 of these.) Shout builds are amazing for WvW, although I prefer Fear Me over On my mark. Here’s my own contribution:

Really enjoyed your video. That last scene is quite impressive, you guys work well with the terrain; that high ground destroyed them. I found it pretty funny how the 20 of them ran away as you 5 came down the hill. What server are you on?
How about score tick is proportionally represented? Right now a minority of people can swing the score so much its completely unfair to the MAJORITY of the people.
So during prime time, all servers full, the score tick is multiplied by 100%.
during sleep time, servers are mostly empty. score tick is multiplied by 20%.This is true fairness. 10-15% people playing at night should not account for 60% of a night cap server score at the end of the week.
Quality > quantity.

Honestly, what other options are there? Leave it as is (what I think should happen), or pause it. There is no other way to balance WvW, and pausing is just absurd. Which leads us to leaving it as is.
If anyone suggests lowering the amount of people allowed in the map..
How would you feel, if during your prime time hours (7pm?) you got kicked out because the other team didn’t have enough players and they wanted to balance it? I’d be pretty kitten
Everyone has different prime time hours. Simple as that. Can’t screw a group of players over just so the other one can have an easier time.

Hi Flamu, nice video. What are your thoughts on using superior rune of the dolyak rather than soldier? Dolyak swaps the vital & toughness, so more toughness and less vital. the 6 slot bonus is “Gain Health Regeneration”. How useful is the condition curing part of the soldier?
edit: sorry, didnt realize you already addressed the rune of the soldier.
Also, do you think this build would be effective with an axe rather than a mace? I realize the mace has very nice CC, but i currently dont have one thats any good :S. For that matter, i dont have a good sword or warhorn. Currently rolling exotic crafted axe w/ HotW shield along with a crafted exotic hammer.

Anyone who complains about nightcapping is a fool. What do you want them to do, pause the war overnight? Do you realize people have different night times? Pausing the war for East Coast players would screw over overseas players, and even some PST players.
Besides the fact that people wanted an open world of wvw, and pausing would complete defeat the purpose.
I think its absurd that people wanted a response from ANet about this.
