Class Name: Muse
Class Type: basically a hybrid of mesmer/bard/chanter
Weapons of choice: Staff/scepter/maybe a spear inspired weapon/harp type bow
General gist/ miscellaneous: not too much detail but attacks would be song/chant/sound based.
*Sonic wave/blast
*stun/daze/debuff song
*Song attack that brings nearby beast npcs into battle as a pseudo pet
*chants to heal/buff self and party
- Could add a utility like the necro has and it turns the muse into a screaming banshee.
Just some basic top of mind thoughts.

I remember camping spots for days in Everquest, sometimes only to walk away with nothing.
You’ve ruined your own lands, you’ll not ruin mine!
I am totally with you. I loved EQ and the challenges it presented. Seems since WoW games just havent been the same (some like FF have been fun). I want to have to really earn it and I am a casual player so make that x10.

Now a request: If GW2 is going to become more and more a “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” bullkitten in the future, please tell me in advance so I can start looking for a more “for real” MMORPG already.
If the first thing your mind jumps to upon seeing a unicorn is MLP, that’s on you.
GW has always had some silly elements, if you absolutely have to take yourself so seriously, then ya, you’re better off looking for a more “for real” manly-man game of seriousness+4.
Thank you for the answer. That’s honestly what I was looking for with the post. I really didn’t know exactly what GW was about (didn’t play GW1 not even saw any videos) so maybe this game is just not what I expected. Still, it’s the best we have at the moment. Still a masterwork in so many aspects.
Great attitude by the OP! This reply that couldve been full of hate (which seems to be a norm anymore) was refreshing to see. Good on you!
Best game Ive played since EQ and Final Fantasy and Ive tried ALOT. WoW took MMOs down a terrible road (opinion so please no trolling), but GW2 makes it fun again. Cant wait to see how it evolves.

Same here on Darkhaven…wtf is this?

I have switched servers. Please invite! I registered on the webiste. Toon names that I can spell off hand.. Svevidd, Clawd Silvermane, Khata Klysm…that should do. Look forward to hearing from Jaded!!!!
My question to this post would be did you not know before lvl 80 that the race you chose is not to your liking? I have made several combinations of race and profression only to delete and start over…none of these characters made it past level 15. I am in no way trolling the OP, I am simply asking a sincere question.
Could also add slang terms like “zerg”.
Ive been calling them “toons” since early on in Everquest. Many reasons for why the term is used or how it originated. Basically easier than typing avatar or character. Bottom line is that Ive been using it as a term for a loooong time and have no inclination to stop. If you dont like it there isnt much you can do about it short of disabling chat or quitting. Kind of like I hate people complaining about really insignificant or st*pid kitten.
They should weave this into the game. Have the vendor for it be in the home cities as some govt office. In game it would be called something like a personal identification alteration license tax, lol. Make it available but have some fun in-game with it.
Perhaps this game will develop into that “mold-breaker” or it may be the catalyst for a developer to take the genre to the next level. Both basically embrace my hope that we are not far from something revolutionary and exciting. Now I will read the review. Sorry if I strayed from the point.
“Heck maybe we’re so desensitized to negativity on the forums that any semblance of positivity feels artificial or like some sort of viral marketing lol.”
You hit that on the head…I am at the point where I would rather put in the disclaimer of no intent to insult then deal with all the flamers.
And I never really played GW1 so Im not necessarily in the blind love for a franchise I really enjoyed. I am more of the MMO nomad looking for anything near the experiences I had playing EQ back in 2000-2006. WoW, and this is just my opinion, took the genre down that marketing for the masses, cooperate profitability over challenging, immersive enjoyable GAME route. Been a drifter ever since.
As the years have passed and I slowly gained more responsiblities, my gaming time was cut significantly. Gone are the days of long raids, street fighter tourneys and COD all nighters. I enjoy having the feeling of accomplishment and usually a lot of time has to be put in to gaming to get satisfaction.
I thought I would not feel this ever again, but then GW2 came in to my life.It doesn’t matter if I play 30 minutes or 2 hours I always end my sessions with a sense of accomplishment. Although I would love to spend hours in pvp and wvwvw, the dynamic events, crafting etc. have allowed me to enjoy gaming while taking care of my responsibilities at home (my two kids are like charrs ANIMALS!), work and college.
Thanks Anet!
A man dying of thirst in a desert, will drink his own urine, from a snakeskin pouch… he made from a snake he killed and ate… and if he’s thirsty enough he’ll be thankful. he’ll also kill his own camel and then disembowell and sleep in it…
see bear grylls
I find it great that you enjoy the game, but it’s far from the game it could be
You are missing the point from the OP. For those posting in agreement. The game is exactly what it needs to be for them. Kind of a “be grateful for what you have” mentallity. Personally I am onboard as well. Perfect for getting an hour or so in before my family wakes up to start the day.
The game can be exactly what people want it to be if they accept it for what it is, that doesn’t equate to “the game is what it could be” and in no way infers it lives up to it’s potential.
there’s already a lot of “drop in and just play” mechanics as is, hopefully later on there even will just be a level UP to meet teammates average levels system implemented so that you won’t even have to sweat levels too much anymore or something along those lines.
As I said, I applaud their faith in the game, I’m happy that it meets their requirements but that’s not to say we should ignore it’s faults. I could make a few bad taste jokes to further help mostly analogies, but I think I’ve said what needs to be said, positivity is great, but a drop in the ocean of issues for GW2.
Ya I didnt post that as an attack. So thank you for keeping it positive. I understand your point. I personally feel the game is still very much in the infant stage. Ive played alot of MMOs from launch and I have learned to be patient (with some maybe too patient..Im looking at you SWG). Based on what the community has been saying I feel the next several months will be a good barometer for how well ANET is tracking and will respond to what the community feels is needed (major run-on sentence). So ya it has alot of room for growth/improvement but currently it is good for those of us with limited time to play.
For me personally…I dont even plan on doing that, at least not anytime soon.
Thanks Blarrg. I spent a couple days on the wiki before playing but never got to those pages. Still I hope there are some more out there not on those lists.
DC Universe did something similiar to this and it worked out really well. They created a portal so could traverse back and forth between the PvE and PvP servers.
I was curious after looking at another post. Is there a list out there anywhere for any and all lesser known /commands? The example I used is the /age /death commands. Had no idea they existed. Please list any others that may be available.
It’s not like they need the meat xD
Animals are made out of meat, which my sylvari thinks is delicious. Bacon is why he was brought forth from The Dream and lack of appreciation of bacon is why the Nightmare Court must be destroyed at all costs.
One of the best posts I have ever read.
Charr-roids? The roid rage however is most welcome in their warbands?
7/10 as well. good rational for the name but not a Halo fan (sorry couldnt be totally objective.
With that said mine is admittedly cheesey. Khata Klysm. backstory is that his father was exiled so he took on his own name. Performed in the Bane to earn a reputation as a tough kitten Took the stage name Khata Klysm for showmanship as well as intimidation. Noticed by the Blood Legion for his ferocity and fearlessness.

I agree with the OP, when doing the storyline there are some pretty confusing moments as to what level and where the next entry point is located. Overall, storyline aside, I agree it isnt that hard to navigate. I do not agree this would be a top 10 reason since most people would decide not to be a Charr based on biases at or before the character creation and not three quests into the storyline.
When I created my two norn toons I used the following site. It is basically an Old Norse dictionary. I would pick out the words that best described my toons background, personality, etc. Example is my Guardian, Grimmr Bjornfugl (Fierce Bear Spirit).
I use a site that is basically an old norse dictionary. I just pick out some words that match the attitude I am going for and Wa-La..norse name. Here a few you could use based on the Engineer (guns). Bruni/Hyrr = Fire, Pryjma=thunder, Bani=death, Dolg=battle, Hjorr=Sword, Vapn/Skoo= Weapon. And example would be Bani HyrrSkoo (Death Fire weapon). Just a thought.
One of my norn’s names is Grimmr Bjornfugl ,,which is three old norse words Fierce Bear Spirit. And I cant remember my others name but it means Ancient Black Bird

This is what the MMORPGa genre needs…while its not an entirely new concept (FF races). They could take this to a whole new level even set new precedents for the genre. Can’t wait to participate!
Sollith you need to get a team together and produce an indie game. It may be a niche but you are dead on for making an immersive virtual RPG experience.
It seems MMOs getting judged pretty harshly out of the gate anymore. Technically GW2 is still very much in the infant stage of its life cycle. Bugs will take sometime to iron out and content will be added. I am sure they are monitoring the response to the Nov 15 patch closely and will evaluate next steps to best benefit the players and the company (it is about the bottom line at the end of the day). If you rush to the end you can expect to have a dead period. I’ve always felt any game deserves a growth period before it can truly be labelled as a success or a failure. To me 3 months is far too early…hell for some games it took over a year. Personally I am going to stick with it and hope for the best…hate to see a potentially good game fail.
JemL good post. But I disagree to a point that it was off topic. Let me explain myself. I used WoW as an example of what I feel a good MMO is NOT (again this is just MY opinoin). So why I do play MMOs is that I am chasing what they were. A real adventure into a new and virtual world. One where exploring meant actually discovering quest giving NPCs and then discovering where their quests led you. It was about immersing yourself into that virtual world not racing thru it to get to an end game (we were actually led to believe early on in MMOs that there was no “end game” it simply kept going thru new content). Grinding in some aspects of the game such as crafting are simply a product of the endevour (I dont know anyone who masters their craft in a relatively short period) so to me it was acceptable. Granted there is alot of unnecessary grinding anymore for the sole purpose of extending a games life. That is where I can see warranted complaints. I see my post had a little too much emotion at its core and I will apoligize to anyone who gets offended. At the end of the day we game because its fun.
I find it amusing how everyone compares MMOs to WoW as if this was the first or best MMO made. WoW took the model created by EQ and a few other predocessors and dumbed it down for the mainstream. Taking with it any sense of real accomplishment and problem solving. WoW ruined the MMO genre in that it took it down a path far less challenging that it could have. Making MMO gamers expect to have things handed to them instead of actually working them out through trial and error and deduction. The only thing WoW did successfully was create a generation of lazy gamers…which is ironic and funny at the same time. This is just my opinion based on many hours of gaming on many MMOs.
Side note they put the word kitten in to clean up another word I typed…pretty funny.
If I understand you correctly plasma I agree. This game is doing alot of really great things in relation to the tired old MMOs and it has addressed many of the contesting for trivial kitten that made me quit most MMOs. But people need to quit looking for a “perfect” game its not going to happen. If you dont like something post it in a rational thought out manner and if it doesnt get addressed in a REASONABLE amount of time,,,quit. But a new game will have a period of trial and error and getting the bugs out so deal with it or quit. Ive played MMOs that still felt like a beta after a year or so. This has actually been one of the smoothest launches I have experienced.
Hoping to be able to get back in soon. Played EQ for 6 years and rollbacks happened all the time with server crashes. Kind of used to that anymore.
I tried another toon as well and no luck. Apparently its happening with some frequency.
Yep same here. I am glad however to know its not just me.
I was playing today for a couple hours then I was booted and received a message saying I am unable to connect to servers. I still cant get back in. Is this just me or is someone else having the same difficulty?
