I got part of my answer to the reimburse request:
Tiket #567819: You are asking for items we cannot provide. An agent will respond to your ticket as soon as possible.
So basically they sweep this bug under the rug and will use the “we don’t have the tools” card to avoid any hassle with reimburse requests. I guess that if there isn’t a reddit thread with 600+ upvotes they don’t feel the need to handle things equitably.
Fair warning… let them get away with this now, and we gonna see far worse situations in nearby future.
PS
I nearly forgot how horrible is their support, had to use all the available “ways” to get a reply after 4 days. The only thing more horrible than their support is their"new" support software.
I’m going through “supposed to use support tickets” means and got a response, twice, in the form of automated messages just letting me know no one has bothered to look at my ticket yet. The last automation was sent on the 28th and supposedly flagged to make someone look at it faster. It’s now May 1st and still hasn’t been looked at. Some flag, huh?
I just sent another ticket about my monthlies sticking, I’ll be curious as to how they respond. Glad to hear that some of you are having your daily issue fixed though. Not happy at all to have continued silence on anet’s end, though it’s par for the course at this point.
Hi everyone,
I’ve merged multiple threads about daily achievements not being available and dungeon/fractal/WvW/World Boss chests not spawning. We’re aware a bug of the Achievement system that is the root cause of these issues. We don’t know when exactly it’ll be fixed but are working on a fix.
Thanks for your understanding!
Really hoping I get compensated for that monthly chest I earned and didn’t get, and get a reset so I can earn the one I can’t earn right now.
u guys are happy with a copy past response that was already posted..
Yeah actually, I’m happy they addressed it at all right now because this new megaserver ordeal is sure to be beating the hell out of their teams and they could have easily left us in the dark like the support I’d gotten that I already mentioned in this thread. I’ll be furious later if they don’t offer compensation once the bug is fixed.
Thanks much for letting us know you’re working on the issue.
This entire patch has felt like nothing but a bunch of limitations being placed on us, and a bunch of options being stripped away.
And yet ANet has the nerve to act like we’ve been given even more options.
Somewhere, a disconnect is occurring between player feedback and what ANet actually sees and hears. It’s like there’s this middleman and a game of “Telephone” is being played.
I think the disconnect has been there for a long time, only in very specific areas, such as (let me repeat myself for the millionth time) the horrid class balancing. Now it’s branching out as they try to push everyone to become mode mixers, except the ones that obviously are of course.
Problem is, as has been stated many times before, there are a lot of us that only like one mode, be it pvp or pve, and don’t want to mix no matter whether we’ve tried or not. I have no idea what they gain by losing players, but that’s the way they’re headed if they don’t take the fingers out of their ears. I won’t hesitate to say my gem money could go to other companies that do listen, but I hesitate to leave because I don’t want it to. I want to see the game and teams get better, not worse. There’s just so much potential in this game going to waste because they don’t want to hear what their customers (players) have to say.
All mine were reset too so I’m having to start again.
Prior to the patch my monthly achievements had bugged so I didn’t get the chest / laurels (others have also had this problem). I’m now waiting to hear from cs.
You might have a long wait. I fought with them for a week and they ended up closing my ticket on me. When I asked why, they said “there wasn’t anything they could do”.
Dailies were fun because you could get them just by playing daily, with the option to have a few more AP if you wanted to go out of you way to get them. Now they’re a chore, and trying to force me outside my normal playstyle (pve). Obviously I’m not the only one, or this thread wouldn’t exist.
All aboard the “I hate this change” train.
I didn’t even get a chest the first time.
Had five achievements done before the patch, didn’t get a chest at 2/2, didn’t get one after four either. My achievements didn’t reset after patch, but apparently now others did, so that’s two chests I’m out now. One I earned (and didn’t get), one I’m interested in earning if that’s the way things should be.
And I did submit a ticket, and tried to fight over the course of a straight week now through it, forums, and reporting an in-game bug submission trying to get my issue resolved. Not a response on the other thread, and they closed the ticket on me.
If towns have already become part of megaserver, you really need to lower the amount of people that can be in them at one time. Grove is absolutely flooded, my fps takes a huge nosedive on an already resource-intensive map, and it was small and crowded to begin with. I can’t even imagine what the others are like.
Also, please don’t continue with this bs about contested wps. You’re going to destroy Orr and FR with that, and no one wants it. No one.
I know it’s a new system and all, and I do like some of the changes, but those two are just glaringly bad, and I’ve seen so many complaints on both already (and the second even before patch rolled).
(And how did I forget the intermixed languages now? I don’t mind it, in fact I wish I’d gotten into EU instead of NA, but I know it bothers a lot of people.)
(edited by constantLogic.3486)
All I can really say is that I was hoping for a cleave. I have a blast as a powermancer despite everything wrong (playing in pve) but I really, really had my fingers crossed that they’d give us what literally every other class had on AA. Abusing Life Transfer just is not an acceptable answer for trash mobs.
Just to add more information, I’ve now completed four out of seven monthly achievements, still no chest, but I’m still showing “2 of 2 Complete” under the Monthly achievement category and “2/4 19 days left” on character select screen.
I also finished my 2/2 achievements. I submitted a report and was given canned responses (twice) nudging me to post on the forums for some reason. Would love to actually get my chest and laurels along with the rest of you.
A couple of days and some pages go by without any address to the questions and concerns people have raised, anet? You’re dropping the ball here. You shouldn’t just be silent on this issue like you have been on so many others. This change doesn’t even affect me except for your forced double-toll wps (how can you even justify that, really?) and yet I see the validity of the resentment here. The silence is pretty deafening.
Perhaps, but they are generally the exception, not the rule. The first logical conclusion people reach is that if the game’s going F2P, it’s not able to financially support itself via subscriptions, and F2P “mode” is just to let players get their last fix before the server is shut down and data destroyed. That conclusion is going to be correct more than incorrect for quite a while.
Please see AcidicVision’s post, and more importantly let’s go back to the topic, in which I believe Quetzalcoatl just made fantastic point outs as to why this is so harmful.
It is. If a game is not making enough money via subs to sustain the game, it usually goes f2p and then shuts down 2-3 months after that point.
Not true at all. There are games out there that have actually done better, one already nodded toward in this very thread, after going F2P, more that have balanced out.
That’s interesting. I wonder if that’s how a lot of MMO vets feel about server merges (this is my first MMO and I’ve always associated server merging with impending doom).
I can’t presume to speak for them, but if the games were good it meant absolutely nothing in the way of impending doom. A slightly smaller userbase? Maybe. But one that actually cared about the game and wasn’t there just because it was the new, cool thing.
Yeah, but when you hear the words “server merge” your immediate thought is that the game is dying. And doing a “server merge” at the same time when other MMOs are coming out makes it that much worse.
Of course, at this point, we’re all used to Anet’s hype/spin machine but new players and potential new players will be fooled into thinking this is a great new “exciting” feature. (By the way, Anet really needs to learn some synonyms for “exciting.”)
My immediate thoughts are “hey, the hype for the game is slacking off a bit and all the users that bandwagon are gone, time to settle things in”. I see nothing wrong with a server merge for low-user servers. I see it as a great thing in that it brings those specific users more users to play with, actually.
I know I might be going against the norm with those thoughts, but I’ve been playing MMOs for years and years. This is by far one of the worst moves I’ve seen by a company though. They’re drastically changing the game people are used to, with many cons that definitely outweigh the pros for most, yet they think it’s going to go over well? I can’t imagine this really flew in their office at all. It’s baffling. (And yes, they certainly do.)
The entire point of “megaservers” is that they’re merging servers without using the words “server merge” because it has such a bad connotation.
They’re (likely) creating a fix for something that wasn’t broken. Server merges happen to MMOs, no exceptions. The fact that they went so far to mess up so much (likely) trying to skirt the issue is both kitten ing and would be hilarious if it didn’t hurt so much of their userbase.
What makes you guys think this is such a great idea?
Really does sound like they’re trying to ruin their own game, does it not (great censor when I can’t abbreviate that, by the way)?
Especially the new players and the role players. who have even more to worry about than those of us that can actually afford the wp costs more and aren’t being ripped from their worlds to join on maps with people that have the potential to ruin their fun of the game for them
I knew certain things were just too good to be true, but I had no idea how much of a downward spiral it would turn into. I’m not going to bother repeating all the things everyone has said, because at this point I think they know how much they’re catted up, but that’s some sad news man. Really sad. Effectively catting up your entire userbase without even asking their opinion, and listening, on such a majour change.
Why in the world do you MMO-team types never think before you act?
@constantLogic
I feel like your talking about much the same things as MonMalthias, but are coming at it from a different angle. If I’m understanding correctly, what your saying is that PvE and PvP are not compatible in terms of balance currently. In this point both you and MonMalthias are in agreement.
You recognize this and seem to advocating a greater separation between the different game modes in order to create more balance within each mode. MonMalthias instead advocates that there should be less separation between the different game modes, achieved primarily by unifying the mechanics that occur within those game modes.
I generally agree with MonMalthias on this one in that making PvE closer to PvP will create a greater build variety within PvE apart from dps/dps/dps that is currently seen. I do agree with you that it will not be easy to achieve this, but it would also be difficult to achieve and maintain balance with three completely separated game modes.
There needs to be way more work done on pve to bring more people back to it other than simply “make it more like pvp.” You have to account for people soloing, or very limited parties that don’t include a main DPSer like war, for example. There’s a reason why the only honestly viable options left to most are guard, ele, and war. It’s a depressing state that could be band-aided by upping the damage even further on things not flat-dps (condis) to compensate to some degree for the larger health pools, or providing a decent flat dps build for every class while they worked on a better solution, but like I’ve said over and over, it would require a split of pve and pvp balance, which I still firmly believe is necessary., if not permanently then until real progress to provide balance across all modes is made. Not once have I argued the need for a better AI, but I will also stand by what’s being proposed here is near absolutely out of the question as it would require a rewrite of the AI, or at the very least a very good, hard look, and that’s just not something they’re going to do. The game is out, and has been out for a long time now, and I see people asking for work on things that would not immediately generate revenue.
With all that being said, I can tell I’m not getting anywhere as far as discussion, so I’ll respectfully agree that the AI and skills need to be looked at, while respectfully disagreeing that such drastic measures will ever be taken on this game. I’ve watched as they continually moved further and further away from what made this game enjoyable for me, and I can say with some reasonable degree of certainty that they don’t give enough of a care to do much more than what I’ve suggested, if even that as they haven’t even cared a wit as they pushed, for example, necro further and further out of ever being viable in pve to the point that it’s become a punchline and grimace more than a respectable class (please remember I’m speaking strictly pve here). I wish they did, but you’re all honestly expecting too much from them.
May I be pleasantly surprised, and at the very least receive a cleave.
WvW seasons is a garbage concept, all servers already know who’ve won, it also depletes weak servers so people can bandwagon/stack, which makes it unfair/not fun to participate if you aren’t on a stacked server. All they did was tack on achievements, they didn’t fix wvw issues, they didn’t fix zergballs, they didn’t improve anything or add anything else. I really hate that people defend that concept.
Anyways, SAB is better because it has skilled based rewards… I’m tired of all this gold only garbage for a game that has cosmetic progression.
-insert blank comment because this about sums it up for me-
You shouldn’t have to log in to BIOS and change your system clock to alleviate this inconvenience. AreaNet should have thought that through and given the player to turn it of… or activate it at all
You don’t have to set your hard time. It works to just change your OS time. I agree that it would have been a good idea to have a toggle though.
Can you disable it? If not, im sure as hell not logging in today.
Yes, temporarily set your system’s clock ahead a few days.
If anyone’s still upset that you can’t turn the bobble off, confirming that setting your system date ahead worked for me. I love it, took a video of it, will be turning it back on, but my laughter almost got me killed.
I’m EU and did a quick log in to check. No bobbleheads. Do we have to be in any particular place for this to hit?
It seems to be everywhere for us.
Minions and ranger pets, too. They look hilarious! And the bouncy-ness when you move around is just too funny. Gotta go log back in to see what dancing does to my head!
Enemies and NPCs too.
Yes! It hit midnight and me and my mate I was levelling with had a great laugh and a /dance!
snip
Sorry, but I’m not certain at all what that had to do with anything I said? I mean, sure, of course, I already agreed that the AI could use a bit of work, but let me just repeat everything I previously stated (bolding the part where it would take time and money, not to mention a complete AI rewrite) without typing my post in its entirety again.
Plus, with what you’re saying, what you want is both shoehorning people into the traditional trinity roles, which this game does not support, and thus closing building diversity, which was something the devs wanted from the beginning (and lost their way about). I’m really not for that happening. If anything I want more builds for more classes which, at present state of things, requires different balancing. This also doesn’t mean that I want only flat dps to matter, but again, we’re talking everything I mentioned before, and ease of incorporation. With simply changing AI, and doing nothing to balance the classes, except expecting to hole them into traditional roles they can’t fill because the game wasn’t made for it, that’s asking for a world of pain.
I strongly disagree with the sentiment that proper balance requires a separation of PVE and PVP, that widespread splits are somehow better for the game. snip
You can disagree, but you can equally ask the unreasonable. What you’re talking about would require not only a complete rewrite of the AI in the game, but also a lot of time, both planning and development, a lot of testing, and a lot of effort in general between multiple teams, which equates to a lot of money in the business world. Not to mention quite a bit of the things you suggested do not work outside of paper, unless you know something we don’t and can successfully create real artificial intelligence to place inside a video game. You’re asking, essentially, for mobs to able to res themselves, dodge, and attack in various, random ways, all that require conscious thought.
As harsh as it sounds, it isn’t as though I don’t appreciate the sentiments, and agree, but what I’m asking for is not only more reasonable, but exceedingly simpler.
if you are talking about pve then every class has only 1 build==> whatever has highest dps
That’s another balance issue I failed to address but wanted to, but would work into what OP said. There’s no reason flat DPS should be the only viable thing. DoTs (which aren’t strong at all at the moment, if my testing is correct) need to be reworked. Minions need severe reworking, not nerfs. I could go on, but everyone has the picture I’m sure.
I think I’ve made a total of possibly three posts since launch, but I feel I just have to throw in my two cents on this one.
First off, I am decidedly NOT a pvper. I have no interest in 1v1, and limited interest in WvW. So any of you that have issues with near-strict pvers can quit reading here. The ability to throw myself into fights alongside others against huge world bosses, or just work together on complete hearts and exploring maps, is what initially drew me to this game. It was beautiful in pretty much every way, and exactly what I wanted out of an MMO until, well, I’m here agreeing with all of you aren’t I? At least mostly.
I know it’s been said before, actually I’ve said it before, but I really think to have any kind of proper balance there does need to be a separation of pve and pvp. Necromancer (if you’ll let me beat a dead horse) is a great example of this. There are undoubtedly many separate ways to go with this class, but it’s been bugged and nerfed until it’s all but completely unplayable in pve – which led to my quitting for almost eight months, as it was of course the class I absolutely had to love. I’ve missed a lot of living story while I was away (sadly), but what I haven’t is that no one wants my ex-main in dungeons or practically any other pve content, and who can blame them? There was so much potential, not just in necro but in a lot of other classes that fell by the wayside, but because of the refusal to address pve as a separate entity, everything but the few top dps clases are useless. Which makes sense in a way, that’s just how pve is – praise the DPS and the heals. Which is why pve and pvp separation is so important, every class needs a strong DPS build to tackle pve (which can happen in a lot of different ways, look at staff ele for a quick example of ‘not a war’). Either that, or Anet needs to go back to the holy trinity style.
Whatever the case, this really needs to be addressed, because like I said, I quit about eight months ago due to this exact problem, and from what I’ve read I’m not the only one that frustrated. I love the game, I’d love to throw money at the game, I loved the jumping puzzles and all the other pve content, but honestly with these problems it feels like no matter how much LS content they could possibly throw at us, or other problems they could address, at the end of the day they don’t even care enough to take the time to fix their broken classes, much less provide the diversity in builds they claimed they wanted to create. In fact, they seem to be doing a fine job of pigeon-holing.
(I just gave this another read-over, and it’s as rushed as I felt making it, so apologies.)

There’s supposedly a 100 point chest which doesn’t have a buff that we all got today. Confused me too.
Wonderful testament as to why I didn’t even bother becoming an achievement junkie. Some of these are completely absurd.
WINE is not really an option for everyday play, and as sad as it sounds, we’re likely never to see GW2 become Linux-native. DirectX is only the beginning of the problem, and I can’t wait to see the kitten thing die because of things like this. I am so tired of booting into Windughs just to play this game, but I think it shows how much we enjoy it at the same time.
The first chest you received was the 100 point chest, which had no account-wide buff. The chest that you see labeled the 500 point chest is the NEXT one you will get, and that one will have the 1% magic find buff.
Thanks for clearing that up for us.
Now if only there was a way to remove past events we can’t complete from “nearly completed” . . . hm.
To everyone who brings this argument: you can’t compensate your lack of escape mechanisms with increasing the damage output. Those are seperate issues.
So what exactly do you suggest then? That we get screwed coming and going?
I can’t believe there’s no word on this yet. Then again maybe they’re working on all the problems. It’s not just elementalist suffering from odd things happening with the timing differences. Auto attack being off just isn’t a long-term option. Or even short term if you value your fingers.
Other than the fact that Troll.4237 just proved you wrong, you simply have forgetten that GW2 isn’t just sPvP, there is WvW and PvE. Necromancers needed a huge damage boost in PvE and WvW to even feel useful. You can’t be perfect in everything, warriors are kings of PvE (Known fact), so if necromancers excel at something, eventhough I still think it isn’t that much, then so be it!
As a PvE/LS player, I can’t this enough.
We needed this patch just to become a viable option in general, and that’s the sad kittening truth. That some of us are actually doing good enough to make some others sob story and get us nerfed is great and all, but it’s not the answer that needs to provided. Other classes to grow a pair and stop expecting us to be free kill.
Why should we NOT be able to deal more damage when we have NO escapes?
I don’t know about the rest of you, you can argue it all you want, but I don’t want to be nerfed back into oblivion where I don’t even want to bring out my favourite class anymore.
I kind of expect us to be brought up to “main OP” level which I thought was something that Anet strove for.
All serious joking aside, +1 thread, +1.
I kind of agree that we as necros just got brought up to some degree, but I’m also in agreement with knyy that fear is a control effect, not a stun. You’re not really using fear properly if you’re trying to play it that way.
tldr:
It’s simply not worth the devs time to handle this issue since
a.) Not many people care about it
b.) It’s a very minor inconvenience
c.) It’s in there for a good reason
a) Wrong, a simple Google will tell you that.
b) A matter of opinion, a simple Google will tell you that but while I’m here I’ll tell you I’ve run into many threads where it is more than a “minor inconvenience” and feel the same. Oh, and yes, I do consider it a problem when something prohibits me from wanting to buy or craft larger bags which is something I consider part of the game.
Why have them if you can’t actually use them?
c) A matter of opinion. There are many more worthwhile things to pursue if it’s a matter of functionality and design but this “functionality” causes many people problems so much that some consider it a bug worth coming to post in bug reports, which I also found by a simple search on the issue.
It doesn’t really matter what it is, this is a problem for many users that have complained about it ever since implementation. It needs to be fixed. Which means they need to find a way to handle that much transaction. Speaking as a dev myself, it is entirely possible, if a bit more costly. The question is, how much are they willing to spend on keeping their players happy, and more importantly, in the game?
Can we take this up with whoever hired Cox? Everyone knows she’s the person to blame for this degradation, but I want to know the reason for taking her on to begin with. Did Anet not make enough with GW1’s cash shop that we need to resort to calling in the master of bs? I, and apparently several others present, will never give them another cent if this blatant player abuse/forced gambling doesn’t stop.
Very agreed. This shouldn’t even be an issue.
Showing skin from an asura at all is kind of tripping on the “furry” side, which probably isn’t somewhere Anet wants to go. Asura aren’t attractive, they’re cute, and their culture is different from the narrow-minded “this isn’t feminine” thinking. Now, for “real life” terms, probably for the same reason I can’t have more attractive, skimpier armour for any of my males, less non-skimpy “feminine” real armour stuff for any of my women, or good-looking leather armour in general. They just didn’t consider it, but they probably should have, as it’s something some of their demographic really wants.
I registered for the forum just for this thread. I have to say I’m pretty appalled at the amount of customisation you can do in GW2, simply because of the obvious time and effort making this game look absolutely beautiful, and then the obvious amount of customisation you’re extremely limited to. Why can’t we have something amazing like Rift, where you can change nearly everything about the body to make that perfect character? I understand the limited voice, simply because of how much dialogue there is, but the extremely limited customisation? That there are body types instead of sliders? This makes no sense in a game that’s a work of art as much as it is. It’s so limiting, and takes away so much from being involved in the game for so many of us. It just doesn’t make sense when everything else is so detailed.
