Now, for the most part, it costs money to visit a shop unless you walk (let be real America, we are lazy, I ain’t walking any where if theres a kit seller right next to a WP)
200 times the average cost of a WP which is what? 1s or so? so roughly 2 gold a month just to VISIT the guy selling kits ON TOP of the valuable time lost

By adding in the travel costs to get to a shop selling salvage kits the Copper-Fed-Salvage-O-Matic now does have a ROI! (we won’t mention that precursor drop we would have missed)
that is not really true.. most people have 15~18 slot bag, usually your gameplay will not fill up your entire bag.. usually you never need to wp just to get salvage kit.. carry like 10 of them in your bag and salvage anything drop out..
soon or later you will need to visit town or repair.. and when doing that you can resupply salvage kit..
p.s. if you are salvage 250 stack of material why are you doing this in the wild.. should have just do it beside a npc vendor.. they are all around in every map..
hmm how is it worth it?? i mean salvage kit come in 25 stack.. carry 100 only take 4 slot.. plus as you salvage it goes down pretty fast.. before you run out you will surely find an npc to resupply them..
as for function, it cost 3 copper per use, which is almost exactly the same of basic salvage kit per unit price…

Its .5 cheaper overall so in the end it pays itself off. (I have used it well over 1000 times) so i saved over 500c so far and it hasn’t even been out over a year. On top of that it takes only 1 slot rather than your 4 slots. Also don’t need to run to a merchant to buy more kits.
yea..but the item is like 60g+.. you save like 0.5 copper per use…. likely will take few years of dedicate usage to cover up the price…
btw.. 1g = 10000 copper.. this kit is 800gem, which is like 65G+ at current price..
65g = 650000 copper / 0.5 (unit saving) = 130,0000
say you salvage 100 per day.. it will take 13000 days or 35 years to cover up the cost.. sure if you salvage 1000 a day it only take 3.5 years.. but can you really salvage 1000 per day??

i read somewhere online, that anet buff this.. to master quality.. is that true? thinking about getting it, but if its just a unlimited normal salvage kit.. doesn’t seem worth the gem..to me at least..

You can get the outfit on the gem store for a small outlay in gems, which spread out over all the time you’ve played is negligible. 18 slot box? Play a few fractals, get a 20 slot one along with loot and fun.
These are not game breaking jaw dropping humongous presents, y’know.
yea..don’t care about them much now.. after someone list the “legacy outfit”.. i thought those are special ones from gw1..
seem good for team support.. though i would prefer great sword over hammer…. imo great sword dish out more dps aoe..

It is called a promotion. I’ve bought many real world items and a year later or so the company I bought them from offered new things to future customers for the same price.

plus during ob days, this game isn’t that much good. lack of update, content update. bug, balancing issue~~ GW2 is much much better game now compare to CB and OB days.. we have support the game ever since, and are punished for it..

All mmos are more expensive on the pre-order. SWTOR and Rift had subscription fee, ESO will probably get much cheaper after one year. The companies use the hype of the new mmo to make money.
But in Rift they give you some achievements the longer you pay the subscription fee, along with mounts and armor skins and pets, but if i’m not mistaken ANet gives you a gift on every month that you purchage gems with money, at least i got that sun kite from the last time i bought gems.
it already become much cheaper, the game sale at half price several times.. even without the discount it is 10$ cheaper..
hey i just ask for an outfit and a 18 slot bag.. is that really that big of deal? it will not harm anyone will it? shouldn’t we be reward for dedicate pre order this game before release?
p.s. sigh.. if you guys are really so against it.. then fine.. i can live without them.. they don’t worth much anywayz.. but i bet people will think twice before pre order anything from anet again.. at least i will.. not only cheaper but also more rewarding.. at ob days the game isn’t that fun, not much update.. and alot of unbalancing issue.

pve wise.. which one would be better?? normally i would thought hunter wins.. but many people are telling me hunter are worse… confusing..
it might not be very wise in PVP.. it might be just me.. but there seem to be a delay when you summon these weapon.. and thats how i end up dead everytime =P
p.s. icebow is really good damage but hard to hit.. flameaxe is ok i guess, doesn’t do anyhting special though… other ones? not so sure.. am using DD, so all i really need is some range ability
i was wondering if it would be op if these weapon last forever only in the hand of elementalist .. i mean for other they remain the same, but for elementalist they act like engineer’s tool kit, which last forever without a cool-down..
the thing is these are hard to use.. and often only one or two skill are really useful.. plus with these in hand we pretty much sacrifice atonement ability and limit us to only one set of weapon skill..
i want a elite phantom that exist all the time, and heal outside of combat.. like necromancer’s flesh golem.
psssst decease before you ask for a youtube link read the signature of the guy you’re talking to. He does know what he’s talking about with regard of PvP :-)
he know or not i can’t say. all i know is he haven’t been playing much after this patch. vengeful image is bugged, it shows the buff but never deal any damage.. not even for five second..
also if you watch the video he uploaded, it usually take 6~10 or more second before anything attack phantasm..
p.s. his build no longer exist after this build.. hehe like to see him trying to continue immortal mesmer after this nerf

same as above.. you must stick within range of idischanter to have your condition cleaned.. and clone are not exactly smart at positioning .. usually stick around it means death…
@decease: It is very evident to me that you have done very little pvp on a mesmer, or at least very little in any build that utilizes phantasms.
- With smart play, you can control where your phantasms spawn and how they move.
- With smart play, you can force people to cleave your phantasms if they want to attack you, providing retaliation
- Phantasmal defender takes damage from you and all your phantasms. If they hit any of those targets, they receive retaliation from the defender
- Not sure what the point of this clause is.
- What about it?
- PvP is all about positioning. If you ignore it, you will lose.
1. with smart play? you are not a tank, mermser are not know to be good at avoid cc. serious i don’t think many people can afford this.. after all you never knew what your opponent will react. if you want to proof me wrong, upload a video..
2. how do you force people to cleave? izerk slash through enemy, isword jump back after each attack, iwarden never move.. ipistol, image, iwarlock is range… or you want to proof to me you have time and willing to cast these range phantasm and run toward them within 5 second and force people to cleave you? remember you only have 5 second of time..
3. idefender take 50% damage or all surrounding allys, but none of the phantasm stick to enemy close. as i list above.. unless they are using big aoe it will not cover more then one phantasm most of the time. the pitiful amount of health idefender has also make it worthless in pvp..
4. well.. you keep saying position.. true it is very important, but mostly it is how you position, how to survive before enemy get burst down. usually fight only last several second. if you have this mad skill of run to phantasm everytime within 5 second to make full use of retaliation.. upload a video.. serious i don’t think many people playing this game are capable of doing that.. or foolish enough to try that.. retaliation is not reflection.. the damage are not that powerful..
p.s. phantasm are not clone..running toward clone might confusing your enemy.. but running toward phantasm? i like to hear you explain how your “position” “smart play” work..
oh and another thing.. do you carry idefender to pvp? rarely seeing people carry them.. after all this phantasm have rather long cast time.. usually you will be dead before you sent it out… same in wvw…. in pve idefender is useful..

This is mainly a PvP nerf actually. My problem with it is that it makes the trait worthless. They should have removed the trait and replaced it with something else. The current situation is just 5 wasted trait points.
not even a bit.. in pvp no one attack phantasm. they always aim for mesmer. if they do attack phantasm it is usually mindless aoe. like in wvwvw.. where phatasm will die within first 5 second.
plus in spvp clone and phantasmal have much less health now.. they will likely get one or two shot anywayz.
while in pve phantasm have more health where this feat become useful..
You fail to understand the proper usage of the trait. You force people to attack the phantasms with positioning or use the phantasmal defender to force them to hit it no matter what. Proper positioning means any aoes or cleaves will hit the phantasms as well.
phantasm require a target to summon.. you don’t choose where exactly it spawn. nor can you control when and where phantasm will chase to.. and more importantly.. no many people use aoe in spvp.. well in wvw there is alot, but phantom will surely die within 5 second..
also you can’t force people to attack phantom.. even if you summon phantom defender it will not force people to attack it.. it take longer to kill phantom defender then killing you directly.
plus everyone know mesmer is a master of illusion and trickery.. i doubt anyone ever foolish enough to let mesmer out of their sight.. or at least trying to…
p.s. phantom defender is not as good as you think in pve now.. it will die within 2~3 hit by attacking you directly.. which is faster and safer then turn around and give their back to mesmer..
p.s.2 oh.. another thing.. i doubt you have time to care about position in pvp.. mostly fight end in seconds.. unless you are fighting another mesmer or thief.. but then you really don’t have much clue where your enemy really is.. as for pve.. normal monster mostly use single target attack.. most do have small or big aoe.. but you you will never when they are using them. call phantom at the moment they are about to aoe is just not enough time.. it take seconds to summon them out, by the time it is already over..

zerk – <0.3 second different
swordman- <0.3 second different
mage – around 1 second different
it seem anet leave zerk and swrodman broken intended.. i guess if you are using sword or great sword phantasm haste is just a waste feat..
also it come with ten expansion worth of nerf
i think this is old news.. this build seem no longer exited after the last nerf..
My question is where are the officials responses? What was the purpose of this patch…obviously not for balance. Was it a late April fools?
well.. i personally believe that arena doing this to reduce their sever population.. we currently have too much people playing on most sever…
p.s. also they want to make this game lame, and trait useless.. so there be no superior build or build at all..
they shouldn’t require a target to cast, they should last the entire fight instead of shatter when target dead.
my idea is when summon phantasm or clone will cause you enter combat state, and when exit combat state all illusion are destroyed…
Just an update. I misread the patch notes and thought it said Phantasms in PvE got their health DECREASED by 270%. It was actually INCREASED by 270%. Someone in the Mesmer forums crunched the numbers and came to the conclusion that Phantasms in PvE are tougher than before when traited and with SoI, while they are slightly weaker in PvP. That renders about half of my original post invalid. XD
And I guess if you look at it that way, I am running a hybrid build. My strategy is to open with some Clones (Mirror Image) to draw fire, summon Phantasmal Duelist, fight until I can summon a second Duelist, then swap to Staff, summon Phantasmal Warlock, then use those in combination with Winds of Chaos/Chaos Storm as my main damage dealers. (When they run low on health, shatter them all with Diversion, pop Mirror Image again, and repeat.)
Scepter is mainly used as a Clone-generating filler for situations where my Phantasms die too quickly and I need something to distract the enemy until they recharge.
Scepter has also had a stealth buff where it summons TWO Clones on the third attack, not one, meaning it’s the undisputed weapon of choice for someone who runs a Shatter build. This could be a bug though.
it was increase.. but signet of illusion nerf from 200% bonus health to 50% bonus health..
plus even with 270% base health they still won’t survive one hit from most dungeon boss…
if don’t see any how any mesmer will do less damage compare to their phantasm, even when they are fully trait toward phantasm.
I use Scepter/Pistol and Staff as my weapons on my Mesmer. Staff damage is decent (but still slow), but Scepter/Pistol is pathetic unless I’m up against an enemy that spams skills frequently. The bulk of my damage does indeed come from my Phantasms.
If you’re a Power-traited Mesmer wielding a Sword or Greatsword (as most Mesmers I see tend to be), of course your damage output is going to be way higher than your Phantasms.
the thing is you cannot use Scepter, if you want to go phantasm build. Scepter base attack summon a clone on third hit.. it will reduce your max phantasm number from 3 to 2…
you see to be using a hybrid build.. i am pure phantasm build.. but even then i deal way more damage then my phantasm.
p.s. Scepter isn’t really a viable weapon.. i mean.. yea 200 condition damage is good.. but you don’t get too much condition as a phantasm build.. if you are a shatter build it would be otherwise..
While I agree that the nerf to Vengeful Images was unneeded (and is now largely useless since the Retaliation will likely expire before enemies really target the Phantasm), I disagree with your statement that Phantasms deal low damage. On my build, the bulk of my damage comes from my Phantasms (Phantasmal Duelist and Phantasmal Warlock, if you’re curious). They were actually quite sturdy between their Retaliation and Signet of Illusions, capable of surviving almost as long as Clones, although between their nerf to general health and loss of Retaliation, they’re a lot more fragile than before.
That seems to be what ANet is trying to go for with them, however; highly dangerous, but fragile targets that should be destroyed as a matter of importance, forcing players to choose between attacking the real Mesmer or taking time out to kill the Phantasms first.
Of course, the downside in PvE is that monsters target your Clones and Phantasms first over you as a general rule.
when i say damage is low, i was comparing with mesmer player who summon them. if don’t see any how any mesmer will do less damage compare to their phantasm, even when they are fully trait toward phantasm.
and lower damage means less agro, phantasm are not good in holding agro.
how much good will 5 second of retaliation do?
if this apply to character, then i would say hell of good. but for phantasm? are you serious
phantasm only attack once every 5~7 second, in the main time they just stand there as a easy prey.
in PVP- not much people ever care about attacking phantasm, just as not much people enjoy attacking necromancer’s pet.. even when they do, phantasm rarely fight back.. well maybe once.. if they are lucky
In PVE- Phantasm are not meant to hold agro, they do not get any agro when they first spawn, their damage is relative low and they are not clone. monster do attack them from time to time, but rarely in the first 5 second.
serious nerfing this trait to hell, making it totally worthless.. is this Arena net’s style of creating more diversity? instead of making other trait useful, you make all trait worthless..
the major damage in pve came from Vengeful Images… which now only last 5 second upon creating..
also we are unable to create illusion as more often, due to the trait move up 20 point…
p.s. true, in pve your phantasm actually have more health, which will make it last a few second longer. but what good does it do? at 80 zerk is like 2~3k damage very 6 second.. which are not impressive at all.. also as you surviving, you will want to make clone to get rid of unwanted agro.. which will replace one of your phantasm.. then you couldn’t summon new ones… sigh..
well for me… mostly because it look ugly.. it have block and little bit of control.. also more clone which are fit for shatter build..
you ever kill anything with interrupt? in wvw can you really tell how many people are around you 90% of the time? serious… in my experience wvw is just spam all i got while running around trying to survive..

Illusionary Celerity was way too strong for an Adept trait and it definitly surpassed the other 2 minor traits in Illusions in efficiency, a spot on adjustment.While my phantasm builds got weaker and I suspect more mesmers will be going to be heading towards shatter builds more now, I kinda like the changes overall.. but I’d like to see the possibility to actually play a proper shutdown mesmer again.
only shatter viable = reroll to different class. there will be more shatter mesmer, but overall less mesmer. hope you enjoy it..
Now..it only last 5 second upon created… as we all know phantasm do not hold agro well.. not likely anything will hit the phantasm we summon within the first five second..
