As characters, I don’t like any of them other than Rox….And that has almost nothing to do with the fact that she is the only one of them who rezzed me when I was down.
Rox has so much potential to help show Charr culture. When gw2 was in the works, the devs talked a lot about how the Charr were one of the big icons of Guild Wars. So let us see this creature you have built as a cornerstone of the setting, more about the legions, more about Charr technology, family, ect. I want to see Rox’s new warband, I want to know if her dad is Rytlock?

The rest of this new group seems just too flat and cliché. You brought in Marjory’s sister just to have her die, and even that wasn’t enough to really cause character growth, or elicit empathy from myself, or my guild. After Orr, you kind of expect everyone to die, and at this point we would like you to just get on with it.

Rytlock and Rox are partial siblings, though I agree that she definitely has a lot of potential behind her (and it’s not just because I like the Charr). I’d be okay with the others leaving, but geez, killing them off is just cruel at this point in time.

I logged onto Sorrow’s Furnace—US on October 10, 2013, at 10:00 PM Mountain Time and I kept getting frequent disconnects. This is the first time I have ever had this issue. Prior to logging on, I had downloaded my Windows Updates for Windows 7. The error stated that the game client had lost connection to the server.

Thinking that it might be my internet connection, I did a speed test as well as surfed the internet (including the GW2 Forums). I was able to connect to all the websites without issue and the speed test came back normal (I ran it 3 times to get an average). In addition, my brother (who uses the same internet connection I do) was able to connect via wireless connection and had absolutely no issues. I even logged onto another online game just to see if it was online games that my internet was having difficulty with, but I maintained a stable connection on that game. I’m at a lost as to what is going on.

Yea, I don’t know. Perhaps the update made certain drivers faulty. Who knows. If you are able to do what I mentioned above, then it should be fine. If you are using an ethernet cable though, that’s a bit different.

Problem resolved: the adapter drivers became corrupted somehow. Simply uninstalling it, restarting the computer, and installing it again fixed it like new (just for those who have the same problem).

This is exactly the same problem I have been having for a long time on my other internet connection. I randomly loose connection to all internet (not any other websites, goggle, ect.), but when I close Guild Wars 2, almost immediately I my internet comes back. On my home internet (Wired) this never happens to me.

I have a very peculiar problem that all started on Monday, when a Windows update occurred.

Any time I try to play Guild Wars 2, it downloads any update fine, loads my characters fine, loads the world fine, and as soon as I am able to do something, I lose my connection to the internet entirely. As soon as I close Guild Wars 2, my internet roars to life again, almost instantaneously.

Can anyone tell me what’s going on?

Okay, well something apparently caused your files to become corrupted (“A file was corrupted in the archive. Please run once with ‘-repair’!”).

Repairing will probably fix it, but note thakitten(this is the words “that” and “it” combined…strange vulgarity detection) might become corrupt again, as I have a belief that something within the game is causing the files to corrupt themselves. That shouldn’t be taken as absolutely true though, as I didn’t help make the game (but I have seen some games where certain actions can overwrite the game’s files into something undesirable; I get the belief from the “Missing anim or fallbacks: <something>” error, but again that’s just speculation).

I ususally put a railroad spike through my tower then overhead viking toss the whole thing out of my second story window onto the street below.

I actually tossed a box off my second story patio about 15 years ago. It was running Windows 95 so I don’t think anyone could blame me.

The player one, yes, it is very much needed, but wouldn’t it be simpler to just not target the AI (except clones and the Ranger pet, maybe) at all?

The problem with cast bars, is that they’ll either clutter the screen with bars, or they’ll only be visible when you have someone targetted, which means any untargetted asura who pops out of nowhere from the mess to kill you will remain as unnoticeable with cast bars as he would without them.

The best solution is to normalize the models.

Diogo, obviously if you don’t have that tiny Asura targetted, of course you shouldn’t be able to see what abilities he was using (through the cast bar). It was like that in gw1, so it should be similar here.

Blast finisher + Smoke field bug?

A leap finisher will combine with the field and apply it’s effect at the end of the skill, a time with which the damage has already been applied.

I’m not so sure with blast finishers. I believe the combo takes effect at the same time as the damage since it’s a blast centered on the field rather than a target, but that’s speculation. Good luck in your research :/

First of all, I do agree that spam is an issue.

Secondly, fear isn’t a crowd control. It certainly looks that way because it takes the control of your character away from you, but it is actually a condition. A stunbreaker will take you out of fear, but stability will not stop you from getting it. It is the “crowd control” that has a slight advantage over the other crowd controls.

To give Travlane’s post more detail: mostly switching between perma-stealth-backstab(ish) to stealth-sneak-attack (bleeds) builds. Honestly, I rarely see Thieves that use any other build than these two. Full of diversity this game is (/sarcasm).

In my opinion, no class is really complex to play, or fight against (except mesmers, confuse me all the time). Honestly, in the grand scheme of things, you’re just running around pressing buttons. It’s not like you have to press a thousand keys a second. >.<

Sure timing is everything, but the window of opportunity with a lot of the potential builds in the game is quite large, if you think about it.

Personally, I absolutely love assasi … er thieves, regardless of their numerous flaws. I mean gee, double pistol is what I specialize in and I have a blast with it; and I love seeing the shocked messages of people who somehow don’t see the spike coming. At least I have fun with it, and that’s what really counts with all this (making your build no matter what profession and just having a laugh with it). Isn’t that what games are all about? :/

Well, I’ve ran a repair once immediately after crashing the third time, and again after the fourth. I gave up and just stuck to PvE; never crashed again lol (I was crashing in WvW, inside the jumping puzzel). Definitely has something to do with that necromancer, it was so strange, but oh well, it’s in the past now.

Hello! I keep having these awful crashes. Three of them recently occurred to me all within 10 minutes, and these three crashes only started to appear as soon as some particular Asuran necromancer arrived (although one was when I was just about to click on a party member, but that’s just speculation). Though, I do have the third recorded (and is attached).

I don’t know much about it, but I do believe “Invalid parameter name detected.” isn’t good :s. Any clue as to what’s happening?

Honestly, I’d rather see Dagger Storm similar to the Dagger Storm used by the NPCs, only without the Scorpion Wire tossing built into the skill (honestly, putting that in it would classify it as a nerf).

Then again, what you are describing, with three seconds of multiple daggers flying out of our hands really fast, sounds really cool too and actually fits the name of a Dagger Storm. I wonder, instead of evasion, why not protection and reflection?

Seraph Headquarters Spawn

As I was entering the headquarters to talk to Logan to progress my storyline, I seem to have spawned inside the door as I entered. Of the hundred times that I have entered this room, I have never spawned inside the door.

I was able to continue when I re-entered, I just thought I’d show you this and maybe the problem could be fixed, though it’s not very important to be honest.

Is A Tanky Thief Possible?

It’s probably not a good idea to post a thread with a misleading title (it asks if tank Thieves are viable, but the question asks for tank builds [I am guessing]).

To answer the title: yes.
To answer the question: try a condition Thief. They mainly use Caltrops and Death Blossom to spread bleeding to many foes, and each hit, even from Caltrops, would trigger Signet of Malice. Do not underestimate that skill. Try building around all that, or you can check the build section of the Thief forums for ideas. Happy hunting!

Camera Glitch

I am unsure if others have reported this or not, but here it goes.

After fighting the cage (heh), I decided to click the house button to leave, but the camera mode (where it zooms out so you can see the entire boss) was never refreshed, so I am stuck with this camera mode until I manage to get back to the boss. How awkward ^^;

I don’t believe they’re bad. They’re not my fravorite, but they can still do some amazing things in given situations.

As for why people think they are bad might be because of one important thing: Rangers do best outside of melee range. Knowing this, it’s rather difficult to play as a Ranger when well more than half of the enemy encounters in any part of the game are melee (Warrior) or melee ranged (Elementalist dagger build), even if you are using a sword or greatsword. They just feel like they belong as far away from the fray as possible. At least that is what I think, anyways.

Ricochet – Pistol shots have a 33% chance to bounce and hit all targets in area for 25% of that attacks damage and set those targets on fire for 1s. (this is for condition damage pistols.)
“Idea straight from “Torso Shot” in Starwars Galaxies."

Pistol Mastery – Increases Pistol Range to 1200, pistol attacks have a 100% chance to pierce.
“Idea also from Gunslinger.”

Ankle Shots (Change name to Gunslinger.) – Critical hits with a pistols cripple and weaken foes for 1 second, Increases Critical Chance of Pistol Attacks by 5%.
“Got from Gunslinger in SWTOR.”

This would be kind of like how Pistols were in Star Wars Galaxies.

Ricochet – Perfect.
Pistol Mastery – Perfect. You only need to say that they pierce.
Gunslinger – Dangerously close to OverPowered (in crit builds; nearly infinite cripple), but still doable.
EDIT: Try 1 second of weakness and 0.5 seconds of cripple. Don’t forget about unload and sigils that increase cripple duration!

Perhaps it would be better to have Headshot interrupt the currently activating ability in order to prioritize Headshots usage (with the exception of the healing skill)? Hopefully you get what I mean once you get past my horrible grammar in that sentence.

Headshot isn’t the only problem either. Try looking at Repeater and tell me that it doesn’t need a damage boost. Being a skill that requires no offhand, it really sucks when you factor in all that you lost to be able to use it, and it is not just the final two skills on your bar.

Honestly, Bodyshot needs changed, Repeater should be what body shot is (with a damage boost/ini reduction.)

Fix our “40% Chance to cause 1 vulnerability on critical chance” to be useful like every other classes, remove body shot.

Repeater causing five Vulnerability per hit would be a good thing, but then what would replace Body Shot?

I said move “repeater” to where “body shot is.”

Repeater would be a really fun/proper “2” ability.

Rending Strikes Vulnerability lasts a lot longer, 7% less chance to proc, no internal cooldown, you can get several stacks with 100 blades if your lucky…

Sundering Strikes, 7% more chance to proc, lasts a lot less, internal cooldown makes it where you can pretty much only get 1 per attack, worthless trait.

Good point, and notice that they are both major traits on the Adept level. Not sure how you can get more than one vulnerability per attack, but I get your point.

Though, I’m not so sure what this trait has to do with how Pistol skills function. The vulnerability from the trait can only be classified as a bonus.

Well i’m just saying, the fact that that has a 1 second internal cooldown makes it a little worthless, if it was “40% chance to set on fire, 1 second cooldown.” I could understand, but not something like vulnerability, which other classes have at there disposal for more and no internal CD.

I understand what you’re saying and completely agree with you, but the problem is that it doesn’t really improve how Pistols play specifically.

Increasing the proc rate of the trait ricochet, for example, will improve the pistol, and it might actually pull people into playing pistols more often. Though it’s still pretty dodgy, as it tends to ricochet to passive or neutral enemies, but it will actually be viable to use if it is changed. Do you see?

Good point, and notice that they are both major traits on the Adept level. Not sure how you can get more than one vulnerability per attack, but I get your point.

Though, I’m not so sure what this trait has to do with how Pistol skills function. The vulnerability from the trait can only be classified as a bonus.

So, please make Headshot instant and not dependant on animations, like dodge roll.

Perhaps it would be better to have Headshot interrupt the currently activating ability in order to prioritize Headshots usage (with the exception of the healing skill)? Hopefully you get what I mean once you get past my horrible grammar in that sentence.

Headshot isn’t the only problem either. Try looking at Repeater and tell me that it doesn’t need a damage boost. Being a skill that requires no offhand, it really sucks when you factor in all that you lost to be able to use it, and it is not just the final two skills on your bar.

Honestly, Bodyshot needs changed, Repeater should be what body shot is (with a damage boost/ini reduction.)

Fix our “40% Chance to cause 1 vulnerability on critical chance” to be useful like every other classes, remove body shot.

Repeater causing five Vulnerability per hit would be a good thing, but then what would replace Body Shot?

I said move “repeater” to where “body shot is.”

Repeater would be a really fun/proper “2” ability.

I love repeater, but I think it should be a “Low Range” High Damage attack.

Body shot can be the new “3” for solo pistol.

Repeater shoots 5 times, so with the new fixed trait, you could still get 5 stacks of vulnerability if your lucky.

I still prefer Repeater as the Pistol/Light dual attack and causing five stacks of Vulnerability per hit. Body Shot could be a bleed or something. Not a clue about what Vital Shot should in this case. One Vulnerability per hit maybe? Definitely sounds like a “vital” shot.

Well if they removed the Internal CD on our Vulnerability Trait to actually be useful…
