That sounds like Gilded Hallow. Similar things happen in Lost Precipice with wooded scaffolding that should of been removed still spawning. I’ve also noticed that the debris can appear for one person but the room can be clear for another.

For a short term fix, relogging into the guild hall (or maybe into the game?) can clear it up (may take a few attempts). But that does not mean that it’ll be clear the next time you enter.

Happened to my guild as well. We tried LoSing the boss out of his AoE with no luck. Ultimately we failed (used him as a “get everyone tags” target, let too much time burn off).

Second roll got him as well, we send a small group to fight him, to prevent him from scaling up too much. Still took them about 5 minutes.

Suggestion: remove the “standard” break bar from him. His break bar is only up when he is standing in his field, when broken he is knocked back a short distance.

Tried inviting, but your at max guilds. I think they mentioned a way to guest into another guilds GH w/o being in the guild, but I don’t know how to use it.

Also, updated it that you only need t1 gliding (though updrafts helps with Lost Precipice jump pads to get to the starting area).

More of an “exploration puzzle” then a jumping puzzle, as my guildies and I set out with the intention of looking at the areas we can’t access til guild level 40. But we did get to the arch at the top of the crystal room and put a flag there to mark an end point

It does need tier 3 gliding however.

Update: only need tier 1 gliding (updrafts help to use jump pads as shortcuts at the very start though)

Personal Rewards in Guild Missions

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

Personal rewards from missions (A.net post):

In-world chests have been removed from existing PvE missions and have been replaced with personal reward chests. The great thing about giving personal rewards this way is that it allows us to reward players even if they disconnect or log out before they receive their mission rewards. As long as you participated in the mission and the mission has completed, you’ll receive your rewards, either when the mission completes or the next time you log in.

So currently guild missions are very buggy. I would very much like to believe that a.net knows this and is working on fixing it (though a dev post confirming this would do a lot to comfort worries about that). The purpose of this post is not to report bugs, but rather discuss what is required for earning personal rewards, and how this can be improved so players do not miss out on rewards for missions they participate in.

Note: My perspective is that of PvE only missions. Since I don’t have any experience with WvW or PvP missions, I did not mention them. If there are issues (not bugs) that could prevent members from obtaining their personal rewards, please mention them.

Bounty:

Current requirements for personal rewards:
As best as I can tell you currently need to be present at a target and have done damage to it to receive credit.

Problems with this system:
Currently we have only seen easy bounties which have been single targets. This makes them easy to find and follow while waiting for people missing the closest waypoint to run. I could be wrong, but it also seems like the health may scale better, making it easier for members to get a tag on the bounty (previously some of them would die in a few seconds, making tagging difficult).

What I see as the problem is when we start needing to do medium and hard versions of bounties. If all targets need to be defeated for personal rewards, it may not be possible to wait for guild members that are missing waypoints to run to the target. Granted, easy bounties are only one target (before they were two), and so far only “easy” targets (Trillia, Poobadoo, Brekkabek). It could be possible that instead of ramping up the number of targets, we instead get harder target to find/kill.

However, some targets are difficult to follow (1141) or attack as soon as they are found (Yanoka), making it even harder for members that are missing the closest waypoint (or are stuck in combat) to arrive for credit. Especially with the time limit to defeat the target once they are active.

Possible solutions:

Give any member that is on the map credit for participating
This means members that were helping search for the target, but unable to get to the location for the kill will all receive credit. This does also have the drawback of letting members afk in the map to receive credit.

remove the need to search for targets
By using an arena based instance (arena in guild hall, or queen’s gauntlet), the focus can be more on killing the bounty target instead of finding/getting to it – which honestly acts more as a barrier to people getting personal credit then an interesting mechanic of the mission. Members can ensure personal rewards by gathering outside the instance entrance point and entering once a guild officer starts the mission.

Guild Trek:

Current requirements for personal rewards:
Members need to interact with the marker in the map (or be within a very close proximity when it is interacted with – though this seems a bit random) to receive credit.

Problems with this system:
There is no clear indication to if members have received credit until the end of the mission. Also the points vanish off the map in a variable amount of time (between instant and 15 seconds). This makes it easy to miss personal credit.

Possible Solutions:

Give an event pop-up when interacting with a point
This allows members to know if they should head to a different point or can wait for the mission to complete

Make points stay on the map for the duration of the Trek
Allows members time to tag whichever point is easiest for them to get to for credit. I posted more about this suggestion here.

Remove the interact points and replace them with capture points
Gives members a clear indicator on if they are close enough to a capture point for credit. This is more of a compromise to the current system, as members that need time to run to a point would still miss credit if it is done early.

Guild Challenge & Puzzle

Current requirements for personal rewards:
There are currently bugs with players receiving credit for puzzle, but the intention seems to be that if players are in the instance during the puzzle or challenge, they will receive personal credit.

Problems with this system:
Other than the fact that it allows for members to AFK at the start and still receive credit, there’s nothing that greatly inhibits people from receiving personal credit other than the mentioned bugs with giving out rewards for puzzle (assuming I am understanding the intention of how rewards are given correctly).

Possible Solutions:
None needed really, though I don’t think it would be unreasonable to expect people to be in the final room of the puzzle or to participate in the event for challenge to earn personal rewards. However, with the lack of a waypoint/rally point, obstacles that respawn would prevent the main group of a guild from backtracking to help members that have fallen behind (currently taking a waypoint removes you from the instance).

Guild Rush

Current requirements for personal rewards:
There have been bugs with this mission type both completing and giving personal rewards, but the intention seems to be that members who finish the rush will receive rewards upon the completion of the rush (countdown reaching zero).

Problems with this system:
Other than the bugs preventing the mission from completing and giving personal completing, there are no problems (assuming I am reading the intention of how rewards are assigned correctly).

Possible Solutions:
Possibly make the Rush into an instance (like puzzle and challenge) to prevent issues of the rush conflicting with another guild.

That’s it for my thoughts. Please share you’re thoughts on the matter (especially PvP and WvW misisons). Also once again, this is not about bugs, please report those in the bug report forums.

We want old guild missions back

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

I’d still say it’s an improvement in that sense. In the old system, new guilds couldn’t run any missions at all until they unlocked at minimum rank 5 art of war. After they needed to upgrade the other guild upgrade lines to rank 6 to unlock any further missions (which was an extremely large amount of influence). Also any mission unlocks beyond the first we’re gated behind merits, and treks (which at the time gave no rewards) had to be unlocked seconds.

Under the old system, players in new guilds would likely wouldn’t be earning any guild coms at all (unless they took advantage of being able to join multiple guilds and joined a larger guild for missions). Under the current systems, new guilds can offer their members 3 guild coms per week at base-line.

Also, it’s only been about 3 weeks since HoT, and my guild already has 8 of the 10 mission slots unlocked (6 if you exclude pvp and wvw). This is MUCH faster then the old merit gates as far as upgrading to additional missions for more guild coms.

Once again, the issue with the current system is the bugs with missions not giving out rewards properly, not with the system they are trying to implement.

We want old guild missions back

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

The reason is simple, not only you nerfed the token reward, …

Guild commendation reward per week is buffed, not nerfed. Before, max Guild coms you could get per week was 6. Currently, if you have access to all missions, you can get 10 per week (8 if you ignore pvp and wvw opportunity missions). The per-mission guild com reward needed to be nerfed with the increase in the amount of missions you can get rewards from per week.

That said, I do agree the missions have been extremely buggy.

Suggestion for Anet involving Mentor tags

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

Beyond the argument of knowing maps/etc. I wish there was some sort of mentor-finder type LFG that would allow mentors to list themselves (and their areas of expertise) for new players to find them. Something that would allow a mentor to broadcast their willingness to help players without having to have a tag over their head. Using an LFG style system would also allow players to find mentors on maps outside of the one they are currently on.

Guild Features- what's great / what's missing

  • Mass roster whisper despite the new multi-channel guild chat, it is reasonable to expect some players to want to turn off guild chat from larger/chattier guilds. The ability for guild leaders/officers to be able to whisper/message the whole roster at once to inform them about guild events would be a lot better than doing each member individually.
  • Guild hall upgrade queue there’s a decent amount of upgrades I have seen that need aetherium equal to the aetherium cap. Depending on the schedules of leaders/officers, this can lead to wasted aetherium production time with the level being capped, but no one to push the upgrade button. It be nice if there was an NPC that you could tell to approve an upgrade for you (assuming you have the mats/favor) as soon as the aetherium level is met. The queue size could also be as small as one, given the slow pace of aetherium build up.
  • Remove all decorations guild halls are fairly big places, so if a guild only has one copy of a decoration and it gets “lost”, the ability to remove everything to find it would be nice. Also, it’d make for a good way to remove seasonal decorations and start redecorating for the next season.

You earn guild exp through guild hall upgrades. As far as I can tell, guild level doesn’t really do much of anything except to act as a gate from some guild hall upgrades: aka, you can’t unlock tavern level 2 until you’ve done enough upgrades to earn guild level 19.

Upgrades seem to fall into two catagories:

  • 100 point upgrades: earned by building/upgrading structures (tavern, mine, arena, etc)
  • 35 point upgrades: earned by unlocking anything else (exp boost, mining rate, node synthesizers)

So far, I’ve observed level ups every 100 exp (up to rank 20)

Guild Missions are a disaster

We had issues with multiple guild hall instances as well. Same issue as the OP with the inability to join via a pop up message or right clicking a party member to “join in [map name]”

We did see a message about “your guild has started a mission in another map” we just all clicked “cancel” on it and had no problems (we started the rush on our map, didn’t join one in progress).

I wasn’t at our guild missions yesterday but apparently they had issues with rewards not being given out. Today there didn’t seem to be a problem, they we’re given out after the completion of the rush timer.

Issues with Personal Rewards from Guild Treks

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

For missions this week, my guild had a guild trek. Some of the guild officers decided to experiment with it before our scheduled mission times since we had never done them before and discovered the following:

  • Guild members HAD to touch a point to receive credit
  • points seemed to stay around for a bit after being touched for the first time (to aid in getting personal rewards?)
  • after a point vanishes, it is not possible to get personal credit from that point
  • when all points have been interacted with, the trek will end (even if there is more time on the clock)

Putting this into practice at our normal guild missions today, we had all members wait on a commander at each point, with the intention of running in together to interact with the point in the window before it vanished. Unfortunately, on most of the points the small grace period we observed in testing did not occur leading to several guild members missing credit. Overall, this wasn’t a major issue, since with missions being free we were able to start the mission again until everyone got credit.

That said, I personally do not think there should be a reason that we need to run the same mission several times in a row to get members their personal rewards. What I propose is this:

  • The interact points remain in the world after being interacted with, only the guild menu updates to signify the guild has already earned credit for that point
  • Guild members have to interact with at least one point to earn credit
  • Like rush, the trek lasts its full duration – even if the guild would earn credit before then. This gives guild members time to get to and interact with one of the points for personal credit.

Finishing Guild Rush Early

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

Result:
Guild Credit + everyone who finished got personal Credit.

Really happy with these changes

Why? This is far worse than it used to be. How it used to work is that everyone would get their rewards the second they completed the course, both a personal reward and a chest. Now there is no chest at all, and even if you can leave the map, you still have to wait for the timer to tick down before you get the reward.

They didn’t make it as worse as they could have, but they did make it worse.

For personal rewards yes, but if you wanted merits for your guild you had to leave a member of your guild on that map until the rush ended. He’s saying now all the members can leave the map and the guild still earns the guild reward for doing the mission.

Ley-Line Infused Tool (guild hall PSA)

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

So far my guild hasn’t had too many major issues with the materials to upgrade our guild hall. There is however one material that I see as more troublesome then any of the others: Ley-Line Infused Tools (used mostly for upgrading the mine).

These are crafted by a level 400 weaponsmith (recipe is automatically unlocked) with the following recipe:

  • Charged Quartz Crystal
  • Ley Line Spark
  • Orichalcum Mining Pick
  • 50 Bloodstone Dust

Charged Quartz information:
Charged Quartz Crystals can be produced by fusing 25 Quartz Crystals at a place of power (commune based hero challenge) once per day. They can also be acquired as a rare drop from quartz nodes (located in a home instance or dry top). They have been in the game for awhile though, so some players may have a lot of them.

Ley Line Spark information:
Ley Line Sparks are acquired by opening “Crystallized Supply Cache” in the new Tangled Depths map. Opening the Caches takes “Vials of Chak Acid” which is obtained through the Nuhoch merchant (requires Nuhoch mastery level 3). The HoT storyline also rewards 5 and 10 Ley Line Sparks after completing the 11th and 13th story arcs (respectively).

The major problem with making the Ley-Line Infused Tools is that all of the materials are account bound. Thus, players that wish to help make these for their guild need both time gated materials and relatively hard to acquire materials to produce them. This can lead to players with a large amount of charged quartz but not have access to ley line sparks, or players that have access to ley line sparks, but can only make one ley line infused tool per day due to time gates.

tl;dr “How to help your guild”:

  • make charged quartz every day (process given above)
  • play through the HoT storyline to get short term access to ley line sparks
  • start working on Nuhoch mastery level 3 for long term access to ley line sparks
  • use the recipe above to turn these materials into ley line infused tools

Hope this helps!

Feedback: Action Camera

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

First off, huge thank you to Joel (and anyone else) for all the work he’s put into this! As someone who’s used the auto-hotkey based combat mod, it’s extremely nice to see an “official” version of it being added to the game. Secondly I wanted to offer some feedback about what was shown in the stream.

First, currently it appears that you are aware of being in action mode by the presence of the crosshair. While I do like the simple design choice of the target, a stronger indicator of if you are in action mode or not would be useful for players who may wish to switch in and out frequently. Particularly this is useful for those that want to place ground targeted skills somewhere other than the center of the screen but maintain vision on the things they are fighting. Currently, when we’re in combat there is a yellow highlight that surrounds our skill bar to help indicate this, perhaps something similar for action mode?

Second, control over mouse bindings would be appreciated. Currently we in the control options menu we are able to set up to two bindings for each action we want to take (for instance move forward is “w” or “up arrow” by default). We are able to use any keyboard key as a control, but are unable to set mouse controls such as “right click” or “scroll up”.

It would be nice if there was a way we could set “action controls”, which included mouse commands, which would replace the normal control options when action camera was turned on. For example, in normal play “scroll up/down” are used for zooming the camera – but when action camera is active, a player could bind them to “next/previous target”. This would also help solve the developer debate mentioned in the livestream about what to make right mouse – players could then set right mouse to whatever fits their playstyle the best (with set focus target being a category within the control options menu).

Anyway, those are it for my suggestions for now. Once again, it looks great so far so thank you very much for all you hard work!

Cross Guild Chat = mass confusion?

It’d be nice if they’d make a feature that lets you set personal chat colors for chat channels. Not only would this allow players to color-code their guilds to aid in keeping them strait, but it would also aid color blind players in all areas (for instance I’d imagine distinguishing between map and party chat would be a problem for people that are red/blue color blind).

Day 1 Guild Week - Feedback

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: durend.6237

durend.6237

I’m curious as to what the favor cap is weekly and if it can be reached without the 10% bonus. While I’m personally not opposed to doing PvP or WvW missions, the fact that my guild is cross server means that it is doubtful we could ever get enough people on the same server for WvW missions.

While the simple answer would be to try to group all members onto the same server, this would limit players that enjoy doing things with multiple guilds if they are based in different servers (which is something being encouraged by allowing /g1-5 chat).

Perhaps making a system that allows guild to select a home server and allows members to guest to that servers WvW only once per week and only for the duration of an active mission?

And of course Dusk, future thing, but curious, do they lack the ability, or just the time. You say they lack the tech, does that mean something other than “well we having put code in to create that type of thing”?

Likely just a time thing.

Currently information about “is a projectile unblockable” is likely coded as a boolean (true/false data). Fixing this would involve either changing that data type to an int (0 = normal, 1 = blockable, 2 = unblockable) and re-writing the code that checks for unblockability to use that new data type (and give additional instructions to projectile destruction fields). Alternatively, each projectile would need two booleans: one for “can the projectile be reflected” and the other for “can it be destroyed” (the projectile type check on the reflection/destruction fields would need to be modified in this case as well).

Admittedly the second method would open the doors for “unblockable, but reflectable” which some players could find interesting.

Honestly the change doesn’t sound terribly hard. But its developing the change, making sure the changes make their way to every projectile and projectile defense skill (both player and monster), then testing to ensure they work properly and do not have weird interaction with other pieces of code.

in the notes from twitchcon, this change is supposedly happening tomorrow:

“Corrosive Poison Cloud: Duration decrease from 12s to 8s. It will now destroy all projectiles that pass through it. It will also now pulse every 2 seconds instead of every 3s.”

Possibly throwing that on top of the wall will destroy the projectiles before WoR can reflect them?

Maybe not so much for ascended which would destroy a rune/sigil to change the stats anyway. Swapping stats is nice and all, but changing builds between wvw and pve often comes with needing different runes/sigils

I have actually seen more rangers running Sword/WH + frost spirit/spotter build than I have seen decent pug guardians.. Not sure how I feel about this.

Probably because of the mass amount of bearbows creating so much ranger hate that many groups would flat out not accept them. Makes the players willing to do whatever it takes to not get auto kicked. Guards have always had a free pass so they feel entitled to run whatever horrible build they want.

Perhaps if we can get a few months of LFG posts including “no guards” we can start upping the standard again?

Making the reset-con undesirable would be difficult at best to plan.

Instead – two+ modes to dungeons.

  • Normal → aka what we have
  • Hard → enrage timers, but set at 4~ minutes enough to allow some defensive play
  • Insane → very short timers requiring the highest dps builds – possibly more health/dps on mobs parts toward us or things like the instabilities

Mix that with say easy access to ascended items and/or exclusive skins at hard/insane difficulty and we start to have some structure.

Hardcore people are happy have have a way to show off – also they don’t have to play with casuals (or yell at them for using sub optimal builds)

semi-Hardcore people have intensives to improve their skill level.

Casuals either have to accept they need to become one of the other two or just not obtain certain skins while still being able to do everything they currently can do.

there is a difference between “difficult” and “tedious”

dragging out dredge fractal by forcing the group to halt dps for 20~ seconds (scale 43) isn’t hard. It just takes a long boring fractal and makes it even longer.

Compared to scale 60+ where it did take longer due to more health, but there was a much larger threat of damage from the dredge, making the partys DPS, teamwork and CC all that more important.

Is it? Dredge with new instability is surely challenging.

haven’t done it yet, so I can’t say for sure. But from what I’m reading I here 43 is just “you have to stop fighting for a bit while waiting for the debuff to vanish/heal” drags out the fight, but you only have level 43 dredge attacking you – which according to a mod post were scaled down (once again, haven’t had time to run this yet no clue how truthful that post was)

compared to fights 60+ that would probably be just as long due to larger health pools/stats, but that stat increase let them hit you harder in turn.

So with what I’m reading I see it as less hard – longer fights with weaker attacks as opposed to longer fights with stronger attacks.

Once again, It resets. We need the classic non-resetable timer “kill it in X time or you’re going to wipe”

That would of been one of the best ways to fix TAFU back when it was around. I doubt groups would have had any problems with the tree if they were capable of killing Vevina in under 4 minutes (considering the lost time due to stealths and chaos storms)

Well the molten bosses have enrage stacks when the opposite hits certain hp thresholds. But yeah nothing to force dps because the stacks are just removed by hits regardless of damage. I do think the enrage mechanic on the molten duo is a good idea though.

Yeah, makes you pay more attention.

And to keep the theme (or to keep using exsisting code instead of creating new timers) it could be that bosses all get enrage stacks once every 10 seconds. 25 stacks lets them spam some random total party wipe attack. 250 seconds > just over 4 minutes. Seeing as most organised groups will kill most bosses in under 1 minute, there’s nothing unreasonable here.

I’m really glad to see that there aren’t as many people devaluing us here.
Really good to see.
As for the grind to fractals, yeah. I don’t have as much time to play anymore, so I’ll be stuck at 30 for a while. It’s a grind for me. I will miss my weekend 48s, that I used to do with friends. Now they are grinding to get to 50. Will they have any interest in going below their level to go with me to 30, 40, then eventually 50? Likely not, it’ll take 10-20 weeks for me to grind the levels I lost, and that’s if I fotm every time I sign on.

If they decide to do dailies at certain scales, like 48 or 49, you can join them and skip all the instabilities, all the way to that scale.

Ironic when you look at the argumentations of people here.

I don’t have much time to play there. Are the rewards still scaled #1-#5 | #6-#0 as and daily chest by what overall tier you’re in?

With that and them making every level a daily, you could just pick you’re favorite instability for the reward tier you want to get.

I also see that as the biggest benifit to not having much playtime right now: the ability to skip boring instabilities by playing with people higher then me…. assuming I even bother, haven’t seen many that look particularly exciting or challenging.

Lol that’s why this works for me cause i use to run zerker that way i know if ur stamina bar is 50% full it’s 50% to much i don’t think i’ve been downed in PvE in a while now… either way i found the zerker set i’m going to get probs takes 3-4 days to get it maybe a week but then i’ll be back to full zerker so PvE people can be happy. even tho no one is a dungeons has complained about my build.

Most pugs don’t complain about builds unless there are multiple wipes or specific things were requested in the LFG posting.

You’re talking about forming an organised group for smooth runs. Look at the videos here. Yes these are the records for each of the paths, but I can also say that when I sit down with an organised group I’ll rarely take much more then a minute or two over the clear times you see here. Compared to the double or triple amount of time I can end up taking with a pug.

Haha i never said i wouldn’t change my build and i’ve run Full zerker before Just this is the best build i’ve found the damage isn’t amazing like a zerker but i can also take lots of damage and heal fast while adding 150 power with trait healing conditions applying conditions and still deal average 2.3k crit (almost every hit) with spamming number 1 i could change my build.

I’m not a big WvWer, but those are probably pretty decent there. In PvE however the norm for wars is 4~6k.

So in dungeons when the differance between berserker and soliders is being able to take 1-2 hits and 3-4 hits, the best way to stay alive is learning to read the boss and dodge the attacks.

Once you’ve learned that, there is no reason not to go full offensive, as the quicker you make the fight go, the less chance you have of making a mistake.

and by elitist as i mentioned the attitude Not veterans i mean really mad kids that get mad over every single thing and got off their corker.

Here’s the issue. The people that I said that would love to help are the same people that “get mad over every single thing”. They weren’t at first, but they are now.

They’ve been making guides showing their builds, how to clear dungeons and proof that their builds are the ones doing it more efficiently then anyone else. Then 90% of the time when they try to help people, they get it shoved in their face and the person telling them they’ll do what they want anyway.

I’m still somewhat new to the forums, but if I had been posting here since release and had nearly everyone I try to help ignore me and tell me my advice is terrible, I’d end up getting mad over everything too.

as i’ve said i could change to full zerker But then the guard in the group would have to able to take all the agro making sure i don’t go down costing me money on repairs. (as you know zerkers go down all the time)

Aggro really can’t be controlled. A good guard isn’t going to keep you alive through tanking, but by spamming blinds, putting up reflects, curing conditions and supplying boons.

Lol i must have just been lacking on a good group but that’s ok, i’d be fine with changing to full zerker

It’s partially the group and partially personal experience on knowing when/what to dodge. A full berserker party is going to end most encounters very quickly, thus you don’t have as much time to make mistakes.

But once you get familar with the content and being more fragile it is very possible to play full berserker in pugs. Til that time, using knights gear is very healthy to use in pugs. It lets you take a few hits so you’re not face planting a lot, but it’s fragile enough that it forces you to learn when to dodge while still supplying respectable damage.

Once you get comfortable with knights (aka can dodge everything you need to), then it’s time to move up to berserker, as there is no reason not to at that point, and it just makes the fights quicker → less time to make mistakes.

I don’t plan to spend much of my money i’m saving for Gem store items for my alts so i’d be able to farm CoF and CoE each a day to get the Parts for it.

SE is nice and quick to get some knights if you want to start there. CoF and CoE are also nice and quick when you’re ready for berserker. Ruby orbs work well enough in the armor, so you don’t have to spend much money there. The biggest expense would be either buying exotic berserker trinkets or getting the ascended ones.

Just to make sure, being hit by the Inquest tamers doesn’t count as a fail right ? And if I get burned but not hit by the abomination in berserker phase, is it still legit ?

Also, by using trinkets + utilities, killing it goes fairly fast, got him to 60% in about 2 min of playing safe. Mostly failed due to deaggroing (in order to avoid inquests) then getting hit for 10K by the tamers while pursuing it.

Would you think killing it in the room would be safer or quicker than getting him near the helicopter ?

Maybe it could be done with bowls of fire Salsa to rally on tamers if need be ?

Edit : corrected the misstyping.

Eh, I just kind of went with what Wethospu said. But probably inquest are fine, berserker ones aren’t. But that would be harder to monitor.

In any case if you fight him just south of the rock pillars the inquest don’t aggro and he doesn’t leash (unless they’ve changed the leash distance this last patch) so the inquest shouldn’t be an issue.

That all said, I’m still most interested in seeing this progress, so I’m just about cool with saying just solo the thing without tranquilizers and lets move on.

Check out these videos and you’ll be more prepared then 99% of people new to arah.

Specifically look at the solo lupicus solo to learn that fight’s mechanics as it is common to all arah paths and the part that will give most newcomers the most grief.

anyway 1300~ tokens for an armor set IIRC. 70~ a run depending on how many BoWGs. so about 19 runs to finish a set.

Reward is:
20 tokens for doing a path
40 tokens for the first time you do a specific path each day
3 per BoWGs

so the reward is very much decreased when re-doing a path. But doing paths 1, 2 and 3 will get you about 200 tokens and you can add in p4 another 70 some.

You don’t want to change gear to elitist suggestions but you are willing to change your sleep schedule?

He hasn’t said he is unwilling to change yet. Only said what he is currently using.

Olive branch is out there so to speak, we just need to wait to see if he accepts it.

We got Mai Trin at 37 10 mins ago and she didn’t get any boons, so I guess the last patch fixed it.

yeah, patch notes indicated it was fixed.

“The cannon barrage phases of the Captain Mai Trin boss fractal will only trigger once per health threshold.”

There’s a bit of a difference be elitist and running an efficient build for PvE dungeons.

Think of it this way, if I just joined your WvW guild and told you’re leadership that I want to run a full glass cannon build/gear on the frontline, would they advise me against that? Are they being elitist if they do advise me away from that to something that stands a chance of living for more then 6 seconds? I would say no, they are being veterans in their field (WvW) and guiding me as a newcomer to what works best.

That said, cleric/shoutheal war is not an efficient build for dungeons and any of the veterans in this forum are going to want to lead you to what works best (the berserker builds) to have a smooth dungeon running experience.

So, if you’re willing to change your build and get new gear (which will be easy through CoF and CoE), then I’m am sure there are plenty of people on this forum that would love to help you and teach you how to live using such an offensive build.

But, if you want to be an elitist about your build/gear and claim you don’t need to change it, I doubt you will find the party you are looking for here.

We Do Not Like Scarlet Briar

In the next living story we’ll discover it was scarlet who woke primordius and elder dragons with her terrible bad accent. We’ll also discover it was scarlet who drove abbadon insane. It was also scarlet who made vhizer khilbron sink orr, and she offhandedly drove all 5 human gods off of tyria.

Seriously kill this (or let us kill this) worthless random character already. You already had five more dragon epic villains (Primordus, Jormag, Kralkatorrik, Deep-sea dragon, Jungle dragon) another undead (Palawa Joko) and a very easily spinnable xenophobic emperor of cantha to relate the living story to since zaithan is dead. All of them are much less annoying, pointless, and lore contradicting.

Take your pick, I don’t care which, but drop scarlet briar off a cliff already.

I echo this and the OP

Big questions most would have.

nope. They’ve already said that the new things are going to be skins, the old ones are going to remain as weapons you need to use with a trans stone.

If they’re not even going to change the old stuff to skins over weapons, no way there going to turn them into boxes.

Erm, not really sure about any of that dragonspawn destiny stuff.

But if you do all of the story dungeons around the same time as you do the similar level personal story mission you should end up with a pretty in sync story.

Exp mode isn’t going to give you lore of any of the “main” characters, just give you some extra info about the world (and sometimes not even that)

Maybe I should have been clearer: There are 10 more on higher scales that most likely will be harder. And looking at how the Fractals scale over all it does tend to jump quite a bit in difficulty rather drastically later on.

We fixed a number of bugs and made lots of balance changes to existing fractals. Also the difficulty scaling has been tweaked overall to create a slightly less difficult curve up to 50.

I really hope your first point is valid, cause the second one isn’t.

The second point is WORD BY WORD from a developer. How is that not valid????

That was durend talking to krall. Krall’s 2nd point is invalind because of what durend linked from the dev. Durend was saying what we all are, krall was wrong and should just stop arguing.

Went back and edited to try and clear it up.

fractals leaderboards are a joke

If you aren’t at 30 when the patch hits you already lost out…seems silly.

If the bulk of your playtime is on the weekend, you’ve lost out. If you can only play an hour or two each day, you’ve lost out.

Basically if you’re planning on anything other then sitting down to do fractals with a dedicated group for 6+ hours the next couple night you’ve probably lost out.

Title of this thread sums it up perfectly.

This leaderboard might as well be :

Time Played in fractals right before thanksgiving (At least for NA leaderboards)

OH RIGHT! I forgot, how careless of me.

If you’re traveling for the holidays/going out all night for black friday, you’ve 100% lost out on the leaderboard.

Good catch!
