No, not really. Not when its so easy to just make your own group and avoid this problem all together.

I don’t understand this debate.. No one is forcing you to use zerker gear. I don’t use ANY berserker armor or trinkets on ANY characters and I do just fine. I just don’t enjoy playing glass cannons(or full dps calsses for that matter. I miss healing soooo bad /sadface). If the min-maxing crowd wants to do things as fast as possible with zerker gear then whats wrong with that? If us casuals want to play the game and have fun in whatever random armor we feel like using then whats wrong with that? Sure we might not get things done as fast as the zerkers, but we’ll have more fun doing it(I know I do, I hate rushing through content)!

I also don’t understand people’s need to get everything done as fast as possible, what ever happened to chilling out, taking a deep breath, and enjoying the journey rather than just the destination?

To answer your question I think it’s a great idea! I love fishing in MMOs, and it definitely feels like it’s missing from GW2. I hope they do add it at some point in the (hopefully)near furture.

To ppl that asked for vertical progression...

I’m curious to know if you, the people that asked for vertical progression/gear grind/carrot on a stick, are happy with Ascended gear being added to the game. Is this what you were after? Are you now satisfied? Or are you disappointed? Are you now craving the next level of grind/progression/carrot chasing? Or have you already returned to whatever game it is you came from?

I’d really like to know if this was really worth damaging the game for me and many others.

Those that say Vertical Progression is necessary for a games longevity, then how do you explain successful games such as LoL, DOTA 2, GW1, DAY Z and TF2 (currently 10 x more popular than Planteside 2, even after over 6 years.) all thriving with little to no vertical progression?

I am happy with ascended gear, yes. I like vertical progression and hope they add more to GW2 in the future. I don’t care if you and many others don’t like it, all that matters to me is what I like so yes it’s absolutely worth it. The only game you listed that I like is GW1 and I’ve tried them all except for TF2. Vertical progression is something that keeps me interested in a game, so for me, yes it’s necessary.

Besides, with expansions you at least CAN play months old content, with LS most of it is temporary.

This is my only problem with the current model. I, personally, think that temporary content is a waste of development time and resources. I don’t understand why they want to release content that will be gone in a couple weeks or a month, why not add long lasting content instead. Even if they added the temporary content as something like a new fractal or even a new type of dungeon where you can play the old living story elements after they move on to the next part of the story. Obviously for fractals it would have to be on a smaller scale but at least it wouldn’t be totally wasted.

Why does the GW2 Playerbase ignore orders?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

It’s the other way around. It’s not the open world players that do not belong in high-end content. It’s the high end content that requires full coordination that doesn’t belong in open world.

No, if the people can’t (or won’t) sing and dance on command, then it’s the content that should move somewhere else. Not the people.

I completely agree with you, raid type content should never have been open-world, it should have been instanced from the start. I don’t understand A-net’s logic behind making it open-world in the first place but this is what they gave us to work with unfortunately.

Why does the GW2 Playerbase ignore orders?

dustinharlin.8693

I wonder this every time I do anything that even resembles high-end content.. I definitely have a wow-raider mindset when I do this stuff. If the leader tells you to do something you do it! It doesn’t matter if you think you know a better way to do it or think you’re going to die or whatever, you follow the leader’s orders without question. This is why I can’t stand the fact that it’s all open world and not instanced, if people can’t follow orders they don’t belong in high-end content.

If you’re told to stack on a tag you kittening stack. If you’re told to range a boss you kittening switch to your ranged weapon. If the leader tells you to run in a circle and sing a song you kittening run in a circle and sing a song. If people can’t do these simple things they should go back to the QD zerg where they belong.

dustinharlin.8693

I think another even easier way to fix a lot of the problems is to make it so mobs don’t lose aggro in dungeons. That way you can’t skip groups or they just follow you to the boss or wherever you’re going. Also make the final boss invulnerable until the previous bosses have been killed(so people don’t skip bosses like Kholer in AC).

RE: "PvP does not belong in an MMO"

dustinharlin.8693

I personally have never been interested in PvP in any game, but I won’t begrudge the people who do enjoy it, and I’m fine with it as long as it isn’t open-world/is completely optional.

I came here to say exactly this. I’m fine with how GW2 does PvP because I’m in no way forced into it. The only thing is the WvW needed for map completion but that’s not too bad if you just do it little by little when your server controls a lot, and its even easier if its done late at night when WvW is somewhat empty.

So...full damage, kitten the rest?

dustinharlin.8693

Honestly play how ever you have the most fun. I don’t use berserker gear on any of my characters and I do just fine in dungeons, fractals, pvp, open world, anything. Sure you might not have an “optimal” build/gear but if you enjoy it then go for it that’s what a game is all about, having fun. The only time you’ll need pure dps is for speed runs if you’re into that kind of thing(I despise speed runs personally).

New fractals -- removal of old?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

I don’t understand why they would remove a path just to add a new one(or fractals if they would ever do something so stupid). This game needs more end-game/dungeon content, so removing what it has just add new paths doesn’t make any sense to me.

What are your feels of having a Healing Role?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

I’d love if there was a pure healer in GW2. Healing was/is always my favorite things to do in MMOS, I’m not a fan of pure dps. The closest thing is a support role with my guardian(which I play the most in GW2) which is fun-ish but I’d still prefer a pure healer.

I’m not against it per-say, people should be able to name their characters however they want. But with that said I won’t accept party requests from people with what I deem to be “immature” or ridiculous names. I use it as a very basic way to judge who I do and who I do not want to play with.

People have every right to complain, we all paid for this game. If something we paid for isn’t up to our standards then by all means we should complain about it. I personally think they are doing a terrible job of adding content and an endgame. This type of grind is just taking the easy way out rather than adding the real content to the game that it desperately needs.

I’m not going to sit and complain about it, I’m going to use that time to find another game to spend my time in. With the direction A-net is going I don’t see things getting any better unfortunately. I really hate to say that, I’ve been playing Guild Wars ever since the first Guild Wars 1’s beta weekends years ago. I put thousands and thousands of hours into Guild Wars 1&2 but now I just see it going in a terrible direction that isn’t fun to me anymore. It’s sad I’m definitely a GW fan boy and even I have to say that they’re ruining the game..

No More Power Gain

dustinharlin.8693

I’m fine with gear progression, I just don’t like the fact that it’s time-gated the way it is. I’d rather if it was limited to say 1 piece per week from bosses or chests rather than having to log in every day solely to craft an item. I’d be fine if they keep adding teirs of gear or raise the level cap or any of that. I don’t agree with making people log in every day just to craft an item for gear(that’s no fun in my opinion), it should be added to new harder bosses/dungeons or something along those lines. I don’t think you should ever be able to craft the highest teir of gear, but then I’m not a big fan of crafting in general so it’s just like my opinion, man.

Edit: I want more gear progression, eventually.

Community Going Downhill?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

I’ve been playing since the BWE and I’ve also noticed the community has gotten much much worse over the past year. People have gone from “hey lets have fun playing a game and help each other out” to “omg gotta get that gold as fast as possible gtfo noobs!!!1”, it’s sad really. I would have to agree with people saying it’s at least partly because of the CoF people being forced to get back into the rest of the world. I was perfectly happy with them all staying in CoF where they belong(hey they enjoyed farming it and the rest of us enjoyed avoiding them lol).

What's up with the communitys impatience?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

I know that feeling. It’s like I’m playing a racing game instead of a fantasy MMORPG. Where is the sense of adventure in this? I don’t think I’ve seen a single dungeon cutscene yet even.

I totally agree, I find it very annoying when people are always in such a hurry(in-game and real life). People need to learn to chill out and enjoy the ride rather than try to sprint right to the destination.

It’s sad that this is a great game with such a terrible community. That’s why I’m not a huge fan of free-to-play MMOs unfortunately

The problem with people demanding zerker

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

Yes, it is possible to contribute nothing to a group, get carried, and still finish a dungeon. Not all of us want to play that way, however.

Like I said, flawed logic.

The problem with people demanding zerker

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

It has nothing to do with rushing. I play with zerker gear because it’s better, but I still “sit back and enjoy it”.

There’s a large difference between people who want to “sit back and enjoy it”, and people who want to pick weak stats. I know, I know: people enjoy build diversity. So do I, especially as a big GW1 fan. But this game’s design does not treats all builds equally. So don’t blame the players for “rushing in”, blame the systems. It’s the systems and the mechanics in place that discriminate most non-zerker builds.

But the system isn’t flawed, the player’s logic is. I never run with zerker parties and I’ve done every dungeon just fine. Nothing in PvE requires zerker gear(or any other stat combo for that matter), the players do. I just hope that when they release the LFG tool that they make it as easy to see who I don’t want to play with as it is now.

The problem with people demanding zerker

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

In my opinion the real problem is that most people just want to rush through the content as fast as possible rather than sit back and enjoy it. I like that so many groups advertise that they only want people in zerker gear, it tells me who I don’t want to play with.

Although I don’t use MF gear I do agree it doesn’t need to be removed. If that’s how people want to play then by all means they should be able to.

Remember kids, you can’t do any dps when you’re dead. I don’t use “zerker” gear on any of my characters nor do I plan to. With that said in any game I’ve played I avoid speed clears like the plague, I prefer to go slowly through dungeons and enjoy the content.

tl:dr Who cares what other people think, just have fun.

This may or may not work for you guys, but maybe if a dev sees it, it could help then to troubleshoot this issue.

Please post back and let me know if this interesting suggestion works for any of you.

I can confirm this works. I jsut tried it when my patch was stuck at 1 file and this is what finally fixed it.

1. Friends and family made me choose and stay on my server. It is a valid reason.
2. The only thing that’ll get me back into WvW is to get map completion on an alt. That’s all that got me in it in the first place, for my main’s map completion.
3. The buffs aren’t enough to justify being bored in WvW following a a huge group around tab targeting things that may or my not even show up on my screen.
4. I’ve always thought of repair bills as just part of the game and I’ve never worried about them. Maybe that comes from my years of playing WoW.
5. Probably not, but I’ve never tried to impress the gods, or anyone else for that matter.

what should be a daily\monthly?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: dustinharlin.8693

dustinharlin.8693

I’m completely happy with all of the daily/monthly combinations I’ve seen so far. The only one I didn’t like was the combo daily because even when I did combos with people in DEs only like 1/4th of them actually counted towards it, maybe it was bugged or maybe I was doing it wrong. But either way I personally don’t think anything needs to be changed.

No matter what kind of things they add there will always be some people who don’t like it. There is no point in trying to please everyone, it’ll never happen.

Well of course it’s a business decision, that’s what Arenanet is, a business. That doesn’t change the fact that people are greedy and when they give us something new they just complain that it’s not good enough. Personally I love the new laural system, it gives me even more incentive to log on everyday even if its only to do my daily.

And yea I didn’t really think about the holiday updates, other MMOs do those as well.

If thats true, when? the rate of there updates we will have to wait a little to much

Their updates are the best I’ve seen in the MMO world. What other game gives free monthly updates? None that I can think of besides maybe Eve Online(but thats also p2p). They’re giving you free content. Every month. And all you can do is complain that you want more. With most games you would have to pay for the updates in the form on expansion packs and DLCs, but Anet is giving you them for free. Be happy.

I have noticed a huge drop in the amount of dyes I get. I’m lucky to get one dye drop every couple days. I used to get at least 2-5 dyes a day back before the Wintersday update.

Anyone who is saying the chance for dyes to drop hasn’t gone down is more than likely just trolling. The TP prices themselves show that dyes have become much rarer.

Healing is clearly not an intended role in this game so I wonder why they even have +healing power as a stat, maybe to delude people who think that there is actually a “support” role in this game. All gear should be Berserkers and be done with it since DPS is the only effective role.

lolwut? Please, for the love of everything good, don’t join a fractals group with me wearing full Berserkers gear. Thanks.
