Since my main is a ranger, I am currently using 3 slots for 3 different ranger builds.

My spirit ranger is using GS and Sword + Dagger. Lots of dodges, stun, block, knock – perfect to hold close.

For the second ranger I’m using a funny beastmaster build with the hyena and a wolf. Similar to the Angry-Birds-Build my weapons of choice are LB and Sword + Horn.

My third ranger is currently under construction. I was inspired by an engineer’s decap-build. I’m using LB and Axe+Axe. Almost no damage, but lots of toughness and life. Worked pretty well so far but has to be improved.

Umm nope, as soon as someone stands on the point, it stops capping as soon as one enemy player stands on the point. Doesn’t matter if there’s 1 or 5 of your team.

Well, for example in the beginning of a match.

Since you don’t cap a point faster when you’re capping with more than one guy, it doesn’t make sense to stay there with the other dude if no enemy is crossing to get your close.

If no enemy is in sight, why would you stay there with another player while your help is needed on another point.

It’s common tactics that e.g. 1 player caps close, while the rest goes mid or far. It’s ok for a second player to walk over close though, just in case the enemy invades. But if not, I understand why players get kitten ed if you stick next to them.

I hope you understand what I’m trying to explain and it didn’t sound harsh.

I’m talking about normal playing, not farming without any kind of fun. I could also just spend my 300k glory to get some chars to 80 within 10 minutes.

1500 glory is not much and doesn’t last much longer than an average dungeon run.

Instead of complaining about every kittening kitten players should just get their kitten together and accept minor “problems” (which are only in their opinion) the way they are. If it’s too expensive for you, why don’t you just go back to PVE and level up your char the old fashioned way? Why so much QQ about not starting instant on 80???

I think 1.5k glory is perfectly fine because it requires about the time for 1 level as PVE does.

im playing this for 4 hours already and i got 4 wins in solo arena only….this is ridiculous…i need 1 more solo win and then 3 team arena wins….so 4 more hours ahead of me gg… so basically i need 8 hours for daily pvp. thats half a day…. and im not counting pve achievements.

Of course there are also a lot of good players in their 20s – as well as there are a load of 12-year-olds who feel strong on the internet because they have a number that’s higher than another’s number – just keep going in the Q, maybe find some people to play with in the heart of mists.

When I was around R20-R30 I’ve played a lot of teamQ with some higher ranked and more experienced folks. That helped me a lot considering tactical teamplay and talking in teamspeak as well. If you have a team, use teamspeak. It’s one of the most important thing to update your team about what’s going on and what you’re doing.

Unfortunately I see a lot of times, that especially lower ranked players (10-20) are ignoring anything written in the teamchat.

Whether it’s SoloQ and you’re trying to coordinate the team a bit, or in TeamQ after you joined with a group of 2 or 3.
It happened so often that someone else walks on close, even if I told everyone I was going there. Or you ask them to run a close-mid-tactic, but two of them decide to invade far instead without saying a word, keeping it neutral against one defender while the rest of the team is going to hell.

That are a few examples why I can understand that it really grinds people’s gears. Some will flame, some will be more of a grown up and won’t flame, but it is disencouraging and takes the fun out of the game if some players are just ignoring everything and behave like they’d be in a solo game.

But whether or not, flaming and insulting players just because of their rank or even their bad gameplay is not an option and unacceptable. I just wanted to make clear why some “higher” players behave that way. It’s often because they’re just frustrated because the thing’s i described just happen way too often.

Even team tournaments only get you 30 silver for a win.

Also your score doesn’t influence how much reward you get out of a match.

I really can’t understand the logic behind the Mystery Coffer contents.

Since Crafting (and originally Rank) is going to disappear, this thing was supposed to supply us with all the Weapons and Armors that aren’t buyable separately (i.e. Dungeon and Cultural).
But, instead of dropping random unattainable equipment from any rank as they were supposed to, they seem to only drop stuff not higher than R40, except a handful of rare Weapon types (such as Frozen, Bramble, Hawk), making it nearly impossible to get all the R50+ Weapons and Armors that aren’t sold separately.

As of right now, the only way to get, say, Rank 60 Weapons, is to buy a bunch of R60 Dungeon Armors and salvage them, until you’ve got enough Tokens to craft what you want; I can’t imagine this ankward situation to be intentional, since Crafting is soon to disappear anyway.

Was there an oversight about this?

It is a possibility for people below the rank. Players who already reached the rank can still buy their chests and get the stuff

But the old Rank vendors are going to be removed soon, most people won’t be able to reach Rank 60+ before then.
The new vendor was supposed to provide all those skins that wouldn’t have been realistically achievable by most players, hence the Dungeon and Cultural tabs.

But how comes all the less prestigeous Armors are actually much harder to obtain?
It doesn’t make much sense.

Remember that this vendor will also be removed when glory gets removed.
Anyway I think if it would be easy to get r50+ skins with the mystery coffers, we had the same kitten as with tournament chests. After a short time every skin is unlocked and you have no reason to get chests anymore.
I also think that mystery coffers are the reason why Magic Find is now counting for spvp as well.

Well, I see why compensating gold is no option, but nobody’s hurt if they give us those ranks for the tournaments already played.

And I can’t agree with the last part. I was complaining about removing the ranks as well, because it needs a lot of time to reach rank 43 by playing tournaments only. Whether or not there are Skyfarmers, I’m still proud oft my rank and I would hate it if all this effort and work goes to hell. Of course, there’s still the fun and so on – but the truth is that everybody is more likely to do something if there’s something to achieve as well.

I just dont get why we need skillpoints for unlocking skils in PvP.
If they make a special (cheap) “Skill-point-item”, I’d be ok.
But now you basicly have to level your char from 1 to 26 if you want to unlock those skills.

Which is easy, with tomes for 1,500 glory per level

To acquire new skills, in both PvP and PvE, players will need to spend skill points to unlock them.

Even if those skills are easy to obtain and not “necessary” to compete…
This will most likely work against GW2 ever being succesfull in E-Sports.

What was wrong about being on even footing in competitive play?
(Not having the same Skills to work with does – at least- not feel like even footing)

Why not just acquire the skills with glory? It worked perfectly fine in GW1 and GW1 was huge in eSports. Also there have been 100x more Skills than there are now

The thing is, that a ladder system won’t show the player’s skill as well. It shows the time people invest to play. Just because I’m not playing 24/7 I won’t have a chance to get a good ranking in the ladder. That’s what sucks in my opinion.

I’ve been working since the beginning on my R42 with 700+ tournament victories. No exploiting and no Hot Join farming. I don’t care if some people cheated to R60+, but I did work hard for what I achieved in PVP and it sucks that all of it will be destroyed. Yes, my finishers remain, but the rest is gone and there is no more lasting progress to achieve.

What I am really worried about are the opportunities for casual players. I’ve been playing GW2 since the beta (with some breaks) and I’m doing PVP most of the time. I achieved R42 with over 700 tournament wins.

Yet, I’m not playing everyday. When I play, I do it for about 2-4 hours max. And so is my team. We had the possibility to achieve something by being dedicated to PVP and playing very good and over a long time since the ranks are lasting. But what if there will be a ladder system and rewards appropriate to a certain rank in the ladder? How do we have the slightest chance to achieve what hardcore players do, especially when the ladder will be resetted every once a while? There will be nothing that lasts so even with playing consistently there will be no way to achieve the stuff others do, even that we’re a really good team.
