So apparently HOM is closed/turned off. Not a huge deal, but I can’t access the heritage armor anymore. I have the medium one because luckily I have a character wearing items with it. I don’t have the light or heavy set though I would like to have them :/ I haven’t played in a year well before the wardrobe existed. Is there a way I can get a set sent to me so I can access them in my wardrobe?

Imagine my dismay when I came back from a few months break to find all the people that used to talk down on everyone for asking for improvements to the game no longer play or post here.

Oh the irons, they are too much.

Which character generators spoiled you? I do not recall being impressed with Rift’s (since you mentioned it).

Oh no rift’s isn’t very good, but at least they had a good idea with the barbershop. Which is what I was saying, it is consumer friendly and still able to make money.

Some of my favorites include aion (I ended up hating the game, still solid), tera (paid options), and vindictus though not consumer friendly as you had to lay down the cash to get to the good stuff. Really any of the asian F2Ps are probably better than GW2. The problem is a lot of them you gotta pay quite a bit of money to make it worth your while. I happen to love creating characters so I often find it worth it if I like the game.

ETA: If I can include games that are single player? Then DAO.

Character creation in this game is lacking. We all paid for this game it isn’t as if this is a F2P game, let’s stop with that. They can make money by selling kitten, but they still need to update the rest of the game. There isn’t enough faces in the current CC, they should allow for at least 1 of the new faces appear in the CC. They could compromise with a split, but they won’t.

I actually always felt their default character generator was rather robust.

I’ve been spoiled by good character generators. It ain’t that good. I actually accidentally created the same human female twice . Had to delete one of my characters and remake her because she looked the exact same. Hairstyles for sure, a lot of them are just plain ugly or you can’t dye the accessories so no point in using that hairstyle.

I really wish they’d just go with what rift did. Barbershop lets you change everything about your character for free then you buy more options for it if you want it.

Jumping puzzles are hardly a good way to go about getting the fragments. Regardless of the difficulty of the the puzzle I have only ever gotten a few. I think at most 10? Usually a lot lower. I would rather then just run CoF or CoE, the 20 per path added up much faster.

This made me smile as I recall all of those post about Portals, Jumping Puzzles and Ascended gear.

That’s nice. However, it doesn’t matter if it’s a good way to get them or not. We are suppose to be able to get them via JPs, but at least three of them have no chests. My suggestion either add a chest or make it a “bonus” from completing it. This is for the monthly so I don’t really care either way. I didn’t even think about it until I completed the blitz that’s actually what triggered me to post this. I thought maybe they might have forgot so letting them know that at least a few of them have no chests so you can’t get the fragments.

Well I admit I rolled my eyes when I first saw them with the high heels, nipples and using the fem staff animation which I’ve never liked. It always looked like posing to me, I kinda wish they’d use the norn one, it has much stronger looking stance. Even still I think there are bit far from human to really be regarded as sexy so I doubt that was the motivation.

But as for the general Idea of them and the fact that they are female. Maybe they were going for the Amazonian thing, maybe it’s a styltitic chocie, maybe it’s because they have a female ruler or they are meant to represent strong woman and they probably don’t want to have to do two models for them. Sure they don’t need to have boobs, they don’t need to be modeled after humans at all but people tend to make things humanoid regardless.

They are not sex bots, they are defenders, warriors and I’m glad there modeled after woman. You say they are engineered with no free will of their own and that’s offensive but then would find it offensive if they were model after men? Would that then be continuing the trope of guys as disposable mooks? It not like this game has much issue with female characters. This is not continuing a trend in the game of female representation lacking agency. Guys are usually the default choice and too often in feels like people subscribe to my brothers mentality of “there is no point in making a female character unless there is a specific reason for them to be female”. “Specific reason” being to titillate, be the LI or DiD.

I don’t think anyone has a problem with them being modeled after women. Personally I don’t even care about the sex thing that much. It’s the bigger thing that’s indirectly hinted at all over the place that bugs me. That problem lies in how the women are represented. kitten women are often represented as sexual objects in just about everything. I mean look at comic book superheros. Women who SHOULD be kitten often reduced to support roles with nothing, but a tight barely there costume. It probably wouldn’t bother me so much if there was even a few kitten women who weren’t sexualized. The problem is? There isn’t. Most are exactly what you see (sex objects, nothing more), when I say most I mean like 99%. That’s just way too out of balanced. At least for me there is an easy fix. Something as simple as getting rid of the heels and making the proportions a little more “warrior” like would suffice.

I’m mostly upset that they had to have -high heels.-

I mean… really? really?

Wearing high heels means you’re no longer capable? You do realize these robots transform into other creatures to fight ya? But, even if they didn’t what does wearing high heels have to do with their abilities or presence?

Women choose to wear heels all the time, and I don’t think that makes them any less of a women.

Now….lets look at this from another perspective. When you fight, or play sports, you don’t typically stand flat footed. Humans distribute their weight on the balls of their feet so they can quickly move.

That is why soccer cleats have more spikes at the toes, and only a few at the heels. So, from a fighting perspective, these “high heels” aren’t really an issue.

In the end, it’s just a design choice. It’s meant to make them look taller, and more sleek (just like real high heels). I don’t think the intention was to make them some porn-bot with the intention of being someone secretary, and bending over to pick up dropped Skritt bottles.

No no no no no no no no. NO. Until you have worn high heels yourself, you are not allowed to say high heels do not affect ones abilities. Comparing them to soccer cleets? I would pick soccer cleets any day of the week. First, high heels make you very, VERY wobbley. Extremely unstable. Try walking, running, or even going up stairs on your tippy toes. Without killing yourself. That’s on a hard surface. If you step into the grass or dirt, your high heel sinks 100% into the squishy ground and you come tumbling down. Don’t walk over a grate, or an uneven surface. Forget trying to walk on a gravel road too. High heels are notorious for having no grip to them. Don’t stand on something smooth or wet cuz your feet will come right out from under you. Running in high heels? Nope. Forget it. If I were being chased by a dog and all I had on were heels, the heels would get kicked off first and I would go barefoot. Last but not least, they are uncomfortable. I can’t wear them for more than an hour before my feet cramp up and hurt.

haha I love this. I can’t believe some people. Running in heels really? They obviously haven’t watched last week’s episode of true blood. Seriously, that’s exactly what it looks like when two women are chasing each other in heels.

Everyone LOVES female nipples, even straight women. It’s a normal instinct that we all have since when we were babies.

lol what? Children naturally lose their ability to suck properly to extract milk from the glands of a breast and discern coloring as well. As far as loving “female” nipples um men have nipples they also have milk producing glands. Babies do not care which nipples they suck male or female. If you pump a man with female hormones he will in fact leak milk or if a man simulates his nipples like a baby would regularly (breast pump, baby suckling, adult suckling) he will also produce milk. Milk production is hormone and simulation driven. It’s also normal for newborn boys to have tiny bits of milk after birth and for weeks following it. Note this can also happen to newborn girls as well.

The only reason women breastfeed and men don’t is because women generally get the flush of hormones to kick start their milk supply (this is due to the placenta detaching from the uterine wall during birth. Some women may not get this and thus have little to no milk supply.), but it’s entirely possible for a man to breastfeed.

I wouldn’t try any of this on an upscaled character. Maybe the first few you could do (dunno haven’t tried), but it’d be harder for the later ones. Does that suck? Yeah kind of does. It means you really can’t do most of this content without an 80.

A few things they could’ve done to improve it; fix all bugs, make it instanced, and then make the fights without gambits easier so anyone could basically do them as long as they follow the mechanics for the most part. Then allow people to up the difficulty via the gambits and then hand out rewards for those. That way everyone can experience the fights, but only those who are doing them with the gambits can get the rewards.

They also physically removed the breast on the side of their dominant arm so as to better their aim in combat. Peter Weller said it so I am inclined to believe it.

That’s a piece of latter-day folk mythology that was never alluded to or depicted by contemporary Greek writings and artwork.

They’re not sex bots. They’re dangerous warriors intended to defend the realm. Why is it a bad thing that these defenders were modelled after women? Is Xena a bad example too, should she have been Male?

Amazonians didn’t wear high heels nor did they have such a tiny waist. If anything they’d be far larger, more muscle-y, and definitely be flat footed.

Transmutation stones work just fine thanks. If what your saying is to make an armor or weapon look like another while keeping the stats of another then that’s exactly what the stones are for. They don’t “merge” them.

Transmutation stones do in fact merge two items into one. So put it simply you are wrong.

Armour Skin Duplicators

Posted by: fizzypop.6458

fizzypop.6458

Hmm I see. While this seems to be very possible to make, it can be easily exploited for monetary gain. What would happen is that people would purchase said duplicator with gems through gold. Then they would duplicate said “Anonymity hood of Divinity” to another item keeping the previous hood and now having a new hood. Thus they can then salvage the new item (since it would be soulbound of course) with a Black Lion Salvage kit acquiring any materials such as possible ectos and upgrades and sell. Profits will then go towards buying more duplicate kits and so the cycle continues. This would be a method of “item duping” and of course put a extensive damper on the market.

No it wouldn’t. Re-read the suggestion.

Sadly the one big source for monetizing the game that ANet have right now is fashion. Want to bring that cool looking set over to a different stat build, or duplicate it. Fork over the money for gems so you can buy transmutation crystals (you can’t use stones on level 80 items) or forget about it. As long as there are no subscription option for the game, we won’t see a DCUO style wardrobe of skins, or anything remotely like it, any time soon. Even a “fashion” tab where you can slot items purely for their looks would have been nice, but ANet need to make NCSoft money somehow.

What are you talking about? GW1 allowed you more than one copy of cosmetic gear and you didn’t have destroy gear to get the look you wanted. There is no reason they can’t do it except greed which IMO is what is destroying this game. I’d rather play single rpg games than deal with this bullkitten.

Off hand dagger is somewhat …. err… not all that great offset for mh dagger. Simply because first relies exclusively on power while other is pretty much condition related almost exclusively. Wh being a more of a roaming necessity while focus just being awesome.

Thanks that does make sense. I don’t feel strongly about any offhands per say so I’ll toy around with ’em. I really love the life siphon reminds me of an affliction warlock to some extent so I really want to build mainly around that. Possible?

Umm…

You are aware that Wintersday is based on, right? Christmas. Christmas is a religious celebration.
Also, Easter and St. Patrick’s Day were both celebrated in GW1 in small ways (random item drops). I see no reason why GW2 shouldn’t continue this trend.

Christmas isn’t necessarily a religious celebration in many parts of the world. For many it’s a secular event however Easter really isn’t.

The reason they use eggs for Easter is they took it from the pagans. Eggs were a symbol of the spring goddess of life and fertility. I know you didn’t ask that, but someone else made a reference to it. That’s where it came from similar to the trees in christmas coming from the pagans as well.

Randomness is a standard part of gaming: it’s present in drop rates from foes, drop rates from chests, damage, critical damage, harvesting, and just about every aspect of this game and others.

I can’t presume to speak for the original poster, but somehow I suspect it’s not RNG that is the issue it’s that:

  1. In this game, there can be a huge difference between the luckiest players and those with average luck. Those who find a precursor become instant one-percenters, while those who don’t might try to gamble 100s of gold in the mystic forge.
  2. There’s no alternative method of acquiring certain items. (You can get boosters from the BL chest or from the gem shop, but not certain weapon skins.)

I rather like (1), because it means that the poorest players can become the wealthiest on a lucky roll. On the downside, this obviously tempts some players to overspend (on BL chests or on rares to flush in the Mystic Forge).

In contrast (2) can be frustrating to a lot of people: if people want to spend a bit to get a guaranteed drop, shouldn’t they be able to do that? I suppose the idea is for some account-bound items to be special that only a few players get to have them, but maybe there’s a middle ground between the current only-random-drop acquisition method and something that requires tons of gems or laurels.

If they want to make items hard to obtain then they should do it in-game through challenging content. We all know they need to add a lot more of that to this game. If they want you to buy the item in the gem shop then straight up add the item to the gem shop for a fixed price. There is no reason to do the RNG chests except to screw over a selection of their player base. That’s the truth. It offers nothing positive to the game. That’s where I’m coming from on this one.

No you see that’s what’s wrong with people you think ethics don’t belong in business, but no they do. If you’ve ever gotten an MBA you’d know this because one of the first classes you take is ethics in business. Human trafficking is also a lucrative business, but I doubt many people would be okay with that. Why? Because of ethical bounds. Same reason we have labor laws as well. I don’t play a game to gamble if I want to do that I go to a casino. Which btw is heavily regulated unlike gambling via gaming. It should be at this point. If you want to become a casino instead of a game then you need to follow the same laws. I remember when games were actually meant to be a fun past time not traps. Making money shouldn’t be at the cost of your customers and if it is then you are selling a bad product. GW1 ran fine without the gambling.

Anet knows it because they had to use agony resistance just to create “hard” encounters. This was only to give a kitten to the “hardcore” players so they’d stop whining. Hint challenging content is content that doesn’t restrict players based on numbers ever growing, but on the skill of the players involved. You’re misunderstanding the issue. Making an unrealisticly beautiful character in the game isn’t being cruel and judgemental—of course not. But unrealistic beauty is what people see on a regular basis. If a person grows up seeing ten images of impossible bodies for every two images of actual bodies, chances are they’re going to view the impossible bodies as normal, and the actual bodies—including their own and those of others—as abnormal.

This is exactly why it is more and more important for parents to teach their kids about what is normal. Kids are going to see those impossible bodies at very very young age. It’s not an issue with kids who have not yet reached the age where “looks matter” but it is certainly issue with 10+ crowd.

Impossible bodies have their place and they can be aesthetically pleasing but it is very improtant to teach folks that they are indeed something not quite natural.

Men are pressured to body build and have a larger ****, and women are pressured to starve themselves, simply to feel comfortable in their own skin.

Actually I hear lean and skinny men are all rage nowadays. You are supposed to look pretty and toned. Not bulky and rough.

That’s a pity. I prefer rough around the edges.
