Its not population that’s the issue if you’re having trouble matching numbers. Its the community.

Stop trying to win all maps against servers like BG and just make 1 guild strong/big enough able to carry one map where all you guys willing to join voice comms can go.
If your server is full, you have enough people to fill map and if it’s not happening, transfer or toss your current community leaders/commanders out of window and make a new independent guild that does things differently, might end up being scourned by existing community at start, but as long as you remain nice and fun, you will soon be center of the server and be able to fill map. Notice this is not possible without experienced players, decent commander, being loud on teamchat and being open to all pugs.

Eu has simple system: Vabbi has Ez, Riverside has SIDE, Piken has SALT, SFR has AmP, FSP has Kill, Desolation has LOOK. These are the guilds that run the “strong” openraids 60+ man blobs 12+ hours a week and everyone knows it.
Just look at http://mos.millenium.org/ and do any of these server get farmed in their matchups? No, because open raid guilds carry server, 1 strong map leads to another map doing better and domino effect begins. And strong open guilds and players stay interested because there’s competition on other servers.

thats difference between eu and na.
in na guilds dont do open raid and even if they do they hide in their own guild channel or private ts/discord. and people in guilds only play wvw when their guild is raiding. they never join the pug blob.
so pugs dont learn to run proper builds, join guilds, use ts etc
thats why community guilds dont exist on na. when they try, no one joins.

I am more curious on how FA stays open when FA got overall more guilds than some “very high” servers. This isn’t unique to FA either, there are some servers like FA too have many guilds.

Vabi is farmed by Gandara for 2 weeks.

they mostly farming gh/uw people.

yeah vabbi is a great server to join. good community with the best players in eu atm that are good at both ppt and fights. you can log on at almost anytime and there are players to play with. vabbi isn’t a bandwagon anymore. players are here for long term community building.

The guild in question moved because they didnt want to play with the people that transferred to their old server. They made that server main server from scratch and didn’t want to stay there because:
1) Anyone could transfer to the linked server for 500 gems because unlucky linking so it became overly stacked
2) It would become same as any other server which would beat the purpose of creating it
3) There was not enough good fights, constant queue on EB and 10 commander focusers
4) because above reasons, it was not fun to play in, and why do you play games, to not have fun?

Anyways, the guild can only muster about 25 people on 1 map during primetime anyways so you can just treat it as any active smaller guild.

except this guild has about 200 fanboys who will bandwagon with them and recreate the exact same problem on the new server. no way amx/pt/lays and other guilds that came to vabbi just to be with ez will stay on vabbi…

As a matter of fact a lot of people, myself included, do not join TS because of all the side effects that come with joining a public place like that. i like to upgrade objectives sometimes. i prefer current system to the old system. in the old system you had to waste money to start upgrades for keep/towers + the camps that gave dolys. it also favored the more populated server who had more people to start upgrade and escort dolyaks and kill yaks etc.

new system is similar to the old one but not as bad. now at least you don’t have to waste money and the server with less people don’t get affected as much. and you can still play the upgrade game by escorting/killing yaks.

and if you dont like bls getting t3 keeps, stop humping eb outside prime time.

i don’t understand your request. you went from “position 15” to “position 9” this week and you are fighting servers #10 and #12. seems like glicko already is adjusting. no need for anet manual intervention. now you have to win this matchup and rise ranks some more to fight t1-2 servers.

and despite bandwagon to vabbi, you barely beat bb/drakkar last week. if you want to leapfrog straight away to t1-2 you have to destroy them by a lot. that way you gain more rating.

yaks bend is the official “older people” server. that big guild for old people is on yb (TOG).

difference between eu and na is that eu has more organized communities and ppl/guilds will play together. na players just stick to their guilds.

Im on maguuma and its pretty quiet in ocx (excluding weekends I guess).

Sox is on mag but only runs 3-4 nights a week now

why would someone consider this? that’s not even how the system works. guest server population has no affect on the population of a host server. the only thing linking does is reduce the population cap for the host server.

dude population isn’t about who has more queues. it’s about total # of active wvw people across 24 hours of the day. just because sos has 4 map queues during na doesn’t mean it has more people than bg.

Staying in a higher tier requires staying competitive, a lot more so then in lower tiers because the need for coverage and population is greatly increased. Every server has the same issues trying to fill coverage gaps, trying to replace players that leave, stop playing, etc. There is just a constant need to take care of these issues in higher tiers. The last thing wvw needs is more burnout and less people playing, regardless of what tier or server. Nobody is forced to come up here, those that do have their own reasons usually because they want a more active competitive environment, but again it requires constant work in order to maintain that level of competitiveness.

Let me translate:

We, the number 1 server, don’t like that we have to put in effort to remain #1. Every other server has less coverage than us and suffers more than us but why should they get help by being open and not us? There is a constant need to maintain our bloated population and who cares about other servers who also have to take care of their smaller populations. The last thing wvw needs is for BG guilds to be forced to leave so that we can recruit more when we should be able to keep getting more and more people from other lower population servers. It’s good for wvw overall if lower population servers keep losing people because they want to come to BG and be in a “competitive environment” where they win every matchup without even trying.

There is only 3 reasons to JQ being full

1 – the announcement of TW coming here started an abandon ship movement of the masses from several servers to JQ… doesn’t look the case cause there is no queues and maps are empty.

2 – ANET close it to try to manipulate server population mass transfers and now they close it again because they don’t take kindly people from JQ being strong and not leaving being a disaster for their gem bank… in which case maybe if you stopped crying out gem sales and didn’t have a broken mass transfer enabling server system ANET you wouldn’t have to make manual glicko and server status adjustments…

3 – Is just a bug (i hope is this one). So it needs to be fixed by manual opening server until you find out the cause of bug.

It is really annoying being constantly full, it just burns out players who have to fill coverage gaps outside their playtimes. Especially frustrating when you see your opponents constantly running with blobs everywhere and having links, while your constantly stuck with full status and being unlinked. Servers need to recruit and attract new blood in order to stay competitive this is nothing and should not surprise anyone.

By competitive, you mean the competition of who’s server have the most numbers right? Now now look at the thread, it is base line that’ll change this ugly M-E-T-A (Most Effective Tactic Available) in WvW atm. Into something more guild/friend based coordinated play.

Not most numbers, a server needs coverage that can compete with their 2 other opponents in order to remain competitive, especially at the tier 1 level. Despite what some people like to believe, BG does not have massive blobs running all day, we have a lot of coverage issues which opponenets are always very quick to take advantage of. Keeping in mind we are constantly fighting servers that have links and never seem to go full despite running large numbers throughout the day. Every server that wants to stay competitive needs to bring in new blood, that is nothing new, and it needs to stave off player burnout.

wah wah! my server has the most coverage gaps across all the 12 servers! it’s a miracle we’ve been in t1 since 2013. please help us anet, we don’t have the numbers to win without trying. i want to win by default! effort is for losers!

Australian players are stacked mostly on 2 servers – Blackgate and Sea of Sorrows
Asians are stacked mostly on 2 servers – Jade Quarry and Dragonbrand

TC and Mag don’t have ocx. And if they do, it’s seasonal not permanent. They each have 1 oceanic guild only, both of which are small and both of which are serial server hoppers so you can’t even trust that they’ll still be on those servers in a month.
