Let me see if got things right
1)am I right to think that a Warrior would allow me to make more mistakes due to being naturally tankier?
2) warrior seems faster and more mobile
3) warrior play-style seem more aggressive
4) guard has more active defensive but a bit squishieram I talking rubbish?
1) Yes, though Guardian is not that hard to play, either
2) Yes
3) Depends on the build and game-mode. In WvW roaming I’d argue that a Meditation Guardian is more in-your-face and aggressive than any of the viable Warrior builds, which are more hit-and-run. In WvW Zerging Warrior is definitely more aggressive, while in SPvP it depends on the build (Hambow/Axebow and Mediguard are both very aggressive, Shoutbow is not that much, AH Bunker Guard is like the most defensive build ever).
4) Yes
what are the main differences you can find in WvW; in terms of playing or fighting a War or a guard;
Group WvW:
-both are frontliners
-both have party-wide sustain and condi-cleanse
-Warrior has “heavier” CC (hammer), Guardian has more important buffing (Stability rotations, Empower) – although Guards also use their Hammer to CC, and Warrs buff with For Great Justice
-different means of survivability – both are heavy armored, but as a Warrior you rely on your high HP pool and 3 dodges (Energy Sigil ftw) to survive spikes, while Guards have more active defenses (Aegis, Shelter, Renewed Focus) to entirely mitgate damage. As I’ve noticed, Warriors usually die to bigger spikes if they mess up dodging, while avoiding those are easier as a Guard, however Conditions and consistent damage will bother them more.
I’d say Warrior feels more aggressive in a zerg fight, while Guardians are the more defensive frontliners.
Roaming:
Guardians are squishier with better active damage mitgation and their burst is harder to avoid, however Warriors pack more hard CC and a LOT more mobility, especially out of combat.
Speaking of the current “meta” roaming builds, Guardians are better in 1v1 fights, but Warrior is a the more efficient roamer due to being able to choose when to fight and when not to.
I’d roll a Guardian or an Ele, as those classes are “meta” in all game modes (just like Warrior is).
I found that building precision + power and using Axe/Axe to be a really good method of fast farming. Though you won’t have much to keep you alive, the fights shouldn’t last long enough for that to matter. I also have a rifle for the boss fights that you just cannot tank.

I’ve recently started leveling my Thief after a Warrior (first char and main), a Ranger, an Engy and a Guard. I expected it to be really hard, but actually I have an easier time than i had with most of my other chars. Using Dagger/Pistol and Shortbow with full Zerker, single mobs or a couple of them are almost never an issue, and I can even kite and AoE bigger groups successfully with Shortbow. The main thing is to buy new green gear (with cheap runes and sigils) around every 5-10 lvls and to time your blinds, stealths and dodges carefully (a thing I’ve never had to care about on my warr).
Off-topic, but since when Warriors are using Endure Pain in a frontliner build?
We’ve been raiding with 15-20 members on average all the time.
That’s pretty interesting, seeing as we’ve had a roster with a TOTAL size of 24 for the past weeks.
Kinda fully how your guildleader seems to tell that you raid with 25 people and yet you tell there are only 15? Whats next saying that WvW is just a 5 man havoc squad? Get over it, sore ducklover.
Hopefully you enjoy the ktrain on AG, because looking at current matchup its almost as boring as fighting wrs
Hint: raid numbers and roster size are two different things. Guess you guys have issues with reading, not just counting.
Final point WVW having only 24 members is the biggest joke in this thread you either lost half your guild or your leader’s stick a big fat tag on when you raid. do you like running with loot bags? now you get to all press 1 for a couple of hours YAY!.
Tbh this all seems really salty just man up and stick by the server you picked though the bad times, instead of blaming it on other guilds being to easy when all you really want to do is tag up lead your guildies and pugs and try to pass it off as GvG.
Phew finished adios and all the best ^^
We’ve been raiding with 15-20 members on average all the time. But of course its easier to exaggerate numbers than learning to count properly or doing anything more organised than rushing down everything mindlessly with 50 man zergs (then again, Vabbi is full of Russians, so no surprise).
Anyhow, have fun fighting the terribad FR blobs and what’s left of WSR.
Edit: Btw its quite fun that WvW left WSR days ago, yet Vabbits still can’t get enough of us.

But unlike wvw, we dont have 30+ members (each day) for our raids, more like 15.
That’s pretty interesting, seeing as we’ve had a roster with a TOTAL size of 24 for the past weeks.
Just admit it, SWAT was better than WvW. No wonder they got bored of raiding with no real opposition and are forming a motherblob with the rest of their server all the time.

Sentinel gear is bad for any spec, I’d rather use Carrion for hybrid. Krait runes are awesome with close-ranged condi specs who focus on bleeding and have a “short” CD on their elites. Sigils of Doom will give you acces to poison on weapon swap, a condition you’d lack otherwise. I’d swap Endure Pain for Dolyak Signet, more Toughness never hurts, neither does Stability on demand. I’d go 0/5/5/0/4 to get armored attack in the defense line, as it synergises with your high toughness. Dogged March vs Missile Deflection is a matter of personal choice, I prefer the first though.
Unfortunately your mobility will be bad without a GS, thats the only reason I stick to power-based Warrior builds for roaming.
Tbh from what I saw SWAT was putting up a pretty kitten decent fight against you guys past couple of months seemed back and forth most the time. You and I both know its true ^^, im just bitter cause I enjoy the fights against WVW way more than any of your other guilds like cc(+pugs), tash or spacemen
Haven’t seen a SWAT group since your whole server started to move only in 40 man pirateship zergs, not even sure if they are even raiding actively any more. And yes, they put up a decent fight, but it was not really back and forth, especially with even numbers.
Yes and I know it shouldn’t but this annoys me, first time they took valuable players from WSR who MAY not have left, and now months later after a small WSR revival they take more.
Good luck in AG Arrival and friends, but please, don’t come back to take more players in a few months
We did not force anyone to change server, a few even decided to stay, however most people were fed up with WSR and were quite happy to leave. You know, the things like 5 uplvld pugs following a guild tag, starting to get kitteny when being told politely to leave then starting drama in mapchat and wondering why those rude, elitist WvW guys call them kittens etc etc. There are a handful of great people on WSR whom I’ll miss, but a lot of people should have sticked to farming Silverwastes instead of playing karma train on EB.
Anyhow, have fun in Moraxo’s guild, and don’t forget to use warhorn 5 to buff before engaging. #bestcommanderever
1. There is one gimmick build using the rifle to get 10k+ crits with Kill Shot. Which can be dodged. So I wouldn’t really call it viable.
2. For dungeons clearly power, for roaming condi Warrior is decent, but power is more popular. Our best “mobility” weapon, greatsword is strictly power based, and its one of the best weapons for roaming.
3. Most people are whiners. Warriors are fine, although in most game modes they tend to play a supportive role (banner build for dungeons, shoutbow for SPvP, shoutheal for zerging), which makes a few people sad. We are good for roaming, a bit “forced” to use the GS though.
You might be part of the focus group with thieves etc. if your guild runs one, but going straight into a zergfight will be tough, and you might end up as a rallybot. You should consider getting the shoutheal build, its surprisingly fun. I even know a few guys who run it in full zerker in a zerg, but I don’t recommend that, unless you are REALLY experienced.
I guess it even matters greatly what players you encounter. Most of dudes I met, even if hambow or some lame OP build copycats, relatively no problem with 1v1.
But when someone skilled kicks, in, well, that’s a trouble.
There are some details can make big differences :|
So you have no problems 1v1-ing Warrs who are worse than you, but you get killed by skilled ones. Then you go to the Warrior forums and make a whine-thread, and you wonder why you are getting trolled.
I’ll fix your statement.
Community assumes that all rangers are bad, and they want their belief to stay true no matter what.
That’s why when they see a ranger pew pew them to death, they suddenly want the ranger to be nerfed down because they want to confirm their believe and think ranger is useless.
^ What Power Rangers actually believe.
Ranger is not entirely useless*, but the Zerker LB/GS build is the biggest scrub magnet in the game currently. Its quite easy to press 2, but its quite hard to play that spec properly and stay alive so obviously the majority of the players who run that build are just plainly bad.
*Though I kinda feel it is when it comes to WvW, hardly any use in Zergs and all of its roaming builds are lacking somewhere compared to a lot of other classes.
@huntroll.1489: lol’d? My Tank warrior does twice the dmg than my ~zerker power ranger, and it really works at least same efficent while I’m watching a movie and drinking coffee at the same time. Except in WvW, there it got conditioned badly.
I don’t know which one of your statements sounds more hilarious, a tank Warrior outdamaging a power Ranger, or a tank Warrior getting conditioned badly (especially that most “tank” Warrs are shoutheal).
So maybe instead of whining and requesting nerfs, just learn to play your class. The first part of that would be exploring other builds than the horrible LB/GS.
I’m not really experienced with Rangers, but when I tried Condi Survival Ranger in SPvP I was able to beat Hambows in 1v1. On the other hand I usually beat Power Rangers on my Hammer/GS Warrior while roaming. So change build and stop reinforcing the stereotypes about (Power) Ranger players.
Edit:
“Want HardMode? Play Ranger!”
I lol’d, even as a Warrior player.

If you actually want to contribute to a zerg, and not just follow the pug commander/EoTM karma train, then you should run Sword/Warhorn + Hammer shoutheal. GS/Hammer is great for roaming, but Warriors have different strenghts and roles in roaming and zerging, which you can’t cover with one set of gear.
Of course you can be a sheep, follow the others and tag everything with your AoE as your average EoTM player/upleveled pugger on EB does, but that doesn’t require any specific gear or build.
For solo and Zerg fighting. I also don’t get how is the sword f1 skill a burst skill unless I have been using it wrong. I have been using the sword f1 skill to help teammates on immobilizing
For zerging its inferior to Sw/Wh + Hammer Shoutheal build, but basically everything is.
For solo it can be okay, I tried S/S LB with Rabid/Dire, but I found it quite meh. Then I switched to mainly Carrion with some Dire mixed in for Toughness, and it worked much better. (See: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Warrior_-_S/S_Condi_Roamer)
Flurry inflicts 8 stacks of bleeding, thats quite good if you build for condition damage. But in Zerg fights the immobilize is the most important thing.

PvE: full Zerker is really your best choice, all PvE content can be done with that gear and proper dodging.
WvW:
If you are roaming, full Zerker is the obvious choice for power builds (maybe mix in some Knights if you want more survivability), for condi Warrior I’ve experimented with Rabid (quite meh), but a mix of Carrior and Dire worked pretty well for me (though sadly power warr > condi warr atm).
For WvW zerging I run Knights armor, Zerker trinkets and Soldier weapons with the Shoutheal build and it works quite well. I know a lot of people run full Soldiers, but its really an overkill on your survivability and your damage will be terrible. But I even know people who run full Zerkers in a frontline build, and manage to survive, but they are really good.
Planning to run this build in WvW for small-scale fights, do you think it would work? What gear do you think would be the most efficient for it? Thinking about Rabid or Dire (Rabid if I run Torment/Earth Sigils, Dire if I won’t), maybe Settler’s or Apothecary’s (though then I wouldn’t really be able to kill anyone) or Celestial for hybrid fun (still need 3 weeks to get all the quartz though).
