See the thing is about this Hero Point grind is most people have been playing the same 1-3 viable builds for the core classes for the past 3 or so years. Game play by this point has gotten stale; so of course people are going to be infuriated grinding out that 400 or so hero points (which a good 80% are gated behind masteries, and I’m being modest) just to do something new with their class they have been playing for 3 years.

Anet should at least give multiple ways of getting hero points like spirit shards, karma, pvp, dungeon tokens, etc. Because having to get 400 hero points per alt is absurd, that’s quite the grind per character. You would have to get 100 WvW ranks plus 2,000 badges PER CHARACTER to max out your elite specialization, that’s a good month or so work. Then if you want to get it in PVE you would have to grind out the masteries because Hero points are gated behind them, and for those who loathe doing pve would drive them to rage quit. Hero Points dropped to at least a max of 250 per elite specialization that’s a fair amount considering these elite spec are supposed to be on-par with the core specializations.

Using the shout “Guard” and then using “We Heal As One” should be giving the ranger Stealth and Protection (and if traited regeneration and swiftness), because last I checked stealth was considered a boon yet I’m not receiving the 10 seconds of stealth when using that combo. I’m not sure if its a bug or not just thought I should bring it up to someones attention.

I know how protection works I’ve been playing since beta. What I’m saying due to the recent changes to vulnerability working with condition damage Protection should work against condition damage. Its a fair trade-off.

Going by that logic resistance should work against direct dmg then too.

There are already skills that negate physical/direct damage, such as warriors endure pain, rangers signet of stone etc. Protection should be universal because vulnerability went universal there should be a yin to the yang, especially in MMO’s.

Why doesn’t protection decrease condition damage by 33%, it always bugged me from the start that protection didn’t PROTECT you from condition damage its still a form of damage so why shouldn’t protection work against conditions. With the change to vulnerability working with condition damage I think its fair that protection work against condition damages.

Not enough stability

@gavyne I’ve tried reaper, but i don’t think RS #3 isn’t enough stability considering reapers/necromancer have terrible mobility.
@livlaender, foot in the grave for 3 stacks of stability is barely worth it. plague has 180 sec cd, 150 sec if traited, not really that viable imo.
@silverkey necromancer has more than one weakness mobility and stability. where as engi and mes have decent condi cleanse; also they have more options to disengage, with their stealth options and mobility.
I don’t think asking for at least 1 utility skill to give stability is asking for too much.

Not enough stability

Why is the necromancer the only class with no access to stability through any of its utilities? In WvW necromancers are basically a sitting duck any heavy cc and we’re dead there is no real way to escape, because necromancers do not have any leaps or stability which imo is needed in wvw; so I think necromancer deserves at least 1 utility skill that gives stability. Spectral armor or well of power should give stability on use so necromancer can be viable and not just a loot bag in WvW.

Make shield 4 (shield of judgement) a pull (a cone pull possibly) it would synergize well with sword and mace. As for shield 5, have it absorbs damage from projectiles and after detonation of the shield bubble have it return x amount of damage to the opponent(s).

"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

Ok, clearly there is something wrong with the name Dragonhunter. There is 30 pages worth of “feedback” also 2 other threads one in the guardian and another in GW2 HoT, a good 75% of it is negative (rough estimate). In no way, shape, or form does the name “Dragonhunter” fit the guardian. I can easily think of a few names that would fit the description of a guardian with a bow: Warden, Sentinel, Seraph, Paladin, Inquisitor, Seeker, etc.
For some reason though a guardian got a name that does not go with the class style of a Holy Warrior who uses light magic, while wielding weapons. The name Dragonhunter would fit a ranger specialization better than a guardians. Give the ranger a rifle and call it a Dragonhunter it would fit the ranger play style more, and allow Anet to reuse this name. Arenanet really needs to change the name while they have the chance, before its too late and we’re stuck with such a terrible name.

It wouldn’t punish you for having a norn thief or charr ranger. All it would do is it would give your race specific stats based on the 3 classes that pertain to your race. Such as human: getting condition damage, toughness, and power…or norn: vitality, power, condition damage. It also doesn’t have to be the 3 stats I stated I’m just giving random ideas to which stats each race gets. This would give more of a variety to races instead of the differences of appearance and useless racial skills.

Differentiate The Races More

I think all the races should be differentiated, because as of right now the race system is bland. Such as the near useless racial skills, that basically no one uses. So other than the racial skills there is no difference between the race’s other than appearance. So I think the race you choose should determine the class you pick, such as an asura being more suitable for scholar classes and norn being more suitable for warrior/ranger/necro. It doesn’t make sense that an asura warrior can hit as hard as a norn warrior, and a norn elementalist can do same damage as a asura elementalist. So I think each race should get a higher set of stats to the classes that pertains to them. Such as a norn getting condition damage, health, and power, or a human getting power, condition damage, and toughness stats increased.

So here are my thoughts on how each race should be suited for the classes.

Asura: Engineer, Mesmer, Elementalist
Charr: Warrior, Engineer, Thief
Human: Elementalist, Guardian, Thief
Norn: Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer
Sylvari: Mesmer, Ranger, Guardian

I hope they will include new weapon skills. I won’t hate new utilities (and would like some new elites), but I’d much rather be able to customize my 2-5 skills for a given weapon.

I doubt they’re going to add new weapons for the October 1st patch, however they may add existing weapons to be used by professions that cannot use them. Such as a ele with a sword, or a guardians with a bow, or a necromancer with a sword, etc.

Elementalist and non weapon swapping

No to this idea and to Seath’s idea, which I will post in that thread as to not go off topic here.

This idea gives Elementalists too many skills compared to other classes and I play Elementalist. And as I play solo, I do sometimes wish I could switch out to staff if I need to get farther from a foe to increase my survivability if it’s a harder hitting, but close range enemy. Not to mention when I go up against the dragons it’s not safe to be within scepter/dagger range most times so I try to remember to swap out to staff but I do forget sometimes (and usually that forgetting happens against Jormag).

I don’t think you understand what he is saying…try re-reading what he wrote SLOWLY this time. He’s saying per weapon gets 2 attunements, for example: dagger/dagger would get fire/earth while staff would get air/water. Anyways I think this could work, i don’t see why it couldn’t be implemented into the game…elementalist wouldn’t have access to any more weapon skills than it already has…so I vote yes.

Radiant Strike: Deal 250dmg to foe. Cleaves in front. 3/4s activation time.
Holy Strike: Deal 300 dmg to foe. +50% damage if you have a boon. 3/4s activation time.
Fervor: Strike up to 5 foes in a 600 unit radius for 400. Apply 2s of Fury to self for each foe struck.

Skill 2: Protector’s Oath [10s CD]
Channel skill 3s. Block the next ONE incoming attack from all sources to any ally in a 600 unit range.

Skill 3: Crucify [15s CD]

here is hwo you have to see on the oppisite gender playing thing. ina 3rd person view game do you want to stare at tail end of a male avi 24/7 when playing or female? depending on preference real life wise lol.

Dude if you like spending hours on end staring at a CARTOONS “tail end” for hours that says something about yourself.

Anyways to the OP I agree that the 1 hand weapon stance for male humans seems awkward. I wouldn’t mind if Anet changed the 1 hand male human stance to the male norn 1 hand stance

I definitely think there needs to be new classes, especially a heavy armor class. I don’t know why Arenanet skimped on a 3rd heavy armor class but it’d be nice if Guild Wars 2 had one.

I have some suggestions to make some guardian weapons a little better. First Guardians shield, Make Shield of judgement a stun or a daze. Shield of Absorption, make it so enemies can’t enter the dome/bubble like how sanctuary is. The reason for that is because with the long cool down of shield of absorption its barely useful in my opinion and because guardians do not have a block on their shield which that is the only use for a shield.

Guardians staff: I think staff auto attack should work some what like the trident auto attack. It bounces off of enemies and heals allies. Next i think Symbol of Swiftness should be moved to the #2 skill because it does not have access to the 25% movement increase like most other professions. As for Orb of Light move it to the #3 skill get rid of the detonate function and increase the damage and speed of the projectile with a 12 second or so cool down. Empower and Line of Warding are fine as is.

Guardian Scepter: Orb of Wrath is alright now i guess, only problem is the aesthetics of it. Smite is nice just would rather it have a lower duration so you can get the full 15 hits off. Got this from wiki guardian smite discussion thing “Causes a number of small orbs which act like mini projectiles to strike the target area. Each orb can only hit one target or not hit anything at all.” Like 50-60% of the time the orbs miss, I just think for guardians only range weapon should be useful and not broken. Chains of Light is fine as is.

Guardians sword: Its “fine” just could be better, The Auto attack chain is its primary use because Flashing Blade and Zealots Defense have a relatively high cool down. As for Flashing Blade I think it should be moved to the #3 weapon skill and have a cripple 1-2 sec, or a chill 1-2 sec, or a immobilize 1 sec. And for Zealots Defense be moved to the #2 skill slot with a 10 sec recharge, With this change I think the sword could be a more viable weapon for DPS. I also think guardians should have a trait that has a reduction of sword skills by 20% could put it with the Powerful Blades trait. Could have the trait be: Sword skills recharge 20% quicker and a 5% damage increase.

Sanctuary: Here is the description of the skill from wiki “Form a protective healing shelter for allies. Foes and projectiles cannot enter.” Thing is, Foes CAN enter sanctuary with stability…the description kind of contradicts itself. For such a long recharge/cool down Foes should not be able to enter it with stability.

Shelter: Is fine as is I just think it should become a consecration.

Tomes: I think they could be more useful if they gave stability so you don’t get spammed dazed/stun which makes using the skill pretty useless. I also think the tomes recharge time should be decreased to 120 seconds.

I dunno bout a giant fist haha…maybe a blue fiery orb, also agree with “midgets fist” being useless and uninspiring.

Anyways, Chains of Light (#3 scepter skills) holds a enemy for about half the duration of Smite or less…which is why i thought it would be nice if it was a 1 hit skill with maybe a 1-2 sec delay to actually get the benefit of using the skill, other than getting half a use of a skill which is the way things are now for smite.

The main problem i have with smite is 99% of the time you don’t get the full 15 hits off. I would gladly accept a longer cool down from smite if it was 1 direct hit instead of 15. I would even be fine if you decreased the damage a bit if Smite was a 1 hit skill.

Just wondering why there isn’t a 3rd heavy armor class but there is 3 medium and light armor classes. I have a idea for the last heavy armor class….A Pole-arms specialist….only uses spears, poleaxes, javelins, halberds and other poles arms that anyone else can think of. Its just a idea didn’t think too much into it.

Remove PvP in WvW

Hi all, as the title says its the suggestion to remove player killing in the World vs World, either that or remove them entirely or at very least stop putting achievements that require doing said World vs World.

The reason I make this suggestion, as a lot of you already know, is because every single time I attempt to simple do the World vs World I get over run by players simply trolling the map, I’ve attempted to fight them however there is often more than one and I just don’t know anybody willing to be a body guard and frankly I shouldn’t need to resort to that.

I understand that it is there for WvW oriented players to also experience PvP however I feel like letting players kill each other here just promotes the trolling behavior, which obviously only works out nicely for the trolls.

Above all else it just ruins the experience of getting 100% with content and makes me and I’d assume others not bother with it meaning people miss out because someone wanted to get their thrills, if ArenaNet want to support players like that then I suppose I’m boned but I hope its not the case and would appear not to be when you look at other aspects of the game.

So to summarise, giving people the ability to kill other players who simply wish to play the World vs World makes the content literally impossible for some to complete and not to mention the nasty behavior this system promotes is all a bit naff and frankly, at least in my opinion, needs to be changed.

Apologies for the wall of text!

If you’re not good at WvW don’t do it….simple as that, go PvE or something.

Warriors have enough weapon diversity, if anyone needs more weapons it should be engineers then elementalists, engineers can only use 3 (not counting underwater) and elementalists can use 4 (not counting underwater), warriors on the other hand, can use 9(still not counting underwater), it wouldn’t be fair to increase the number of weapons a warrior can use and leave out classes that do need more weapon variety.

True, but other classes don’t get weapon kits (how many are there, 5? Which would put engis at 8 weapons) or element changes. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but engis and eles are hardly as cheated as people make them out to be.

Elementalists might be able to switch attunements, but they can still only use one weapon. There’s no weapon switch like every other class has.

Elementalist get a extra 10 skills though. 4 attunements 5 skills per attunement…where as other classes have 2 weapon sets with 5 skills per weapon.

Ele’s have great diversity, Staff: 20 skills Main hand dagger and scepter: 12 skills (for both), Off-hand dagger and focus: 8 skills (for both). Engineer’s have all the skills from the weapon kits. So you’re wrong about that aspect.
And Arathor, I can’t see a guardian using a 2 hand axe, a crossbow would fit it better. Warriors do not need another ranged weapon seeing as they already have 2.

I think a guardian with a longbow could make sense if it was condition/support based. It could make a condition guardian more viable, seeing as guardians only have 1 condition based weapon (torch) at the moment.

I would have a 1 sec immobilize to get the full zealot’s defense off, because if the opponent gets to the 600 range the projectiles from Zealots Defense doesn’t always hit a target at max range so you lose damage. Also I never said guardians sword needed more damage, if you look at the “Powerful Blades” trait there is already a 5% increase in sword and spear skills, so i have no idea where you’re getting that from.

“His role is to deal decent damage while controlling the opposition and buffing the rest of the group so the rest of the group gets through the fight.” Not all the guardians weapon skills is for crowd control or gives boons, Look at the scepter no crowd control nor does it give boons. Same with sword no CC or gives any boons.

New WvW maps

It would be great if WvW would get new maps, because running in the same ol’ maps is getting quite boring. Maybe add another map like Eternal Battle Grounds, and make each servers borderland look different. By doing this it might attract old wvwers who have left the game to start playing again, and could possibly bring in some people who strictly pvp or pve. Another idea I have for WvW is bringing back the orb of power, have there be 1 orb of power in Eternal Battlegrounds instead of 1 per borderland.

When have I said guardians sword is bad, I’m just saying it could use some improvements.
Could make Powerful Blades have 20% reduction in sword skills and 5% damage. Also a 1 sec immobilize on Flashing Blade would be nice. I don’t know how to make it less “vague” than that. Also guardians fastest auto is with the scepter, with it being 1/4 sec and sword being 1/2 sec.

You’re comparing apples to oranges here. One weapon is purely offensive while the other has defensive attributes (including the leap/blind) and defensive skills are almost always on a longer cooldown. Just the way they do it and I imagine for good reason. Also, mesmer is known throughout the game as an imbalanced class as far as the level of power it can crank out with little effort so comparing anything to memser is moot. Now compare it to say warrior or thief sword, then you might have an argument. It’s far superior to warrior sword, mainhand one anyway, and while the thief one is pretty powerful too, it still has it’s limits and pretty sure they recently nerfed the shadowstep on it as well. Guardian sword is fine in the hands of a skilled player. All I’m saying.

Ok so lemme get this straight you’re saying the invulnerability/evade on mesmer’s “blurred frenzy” skill isn’t a defensive maneuver? Yet this skill has a 12 sec cooldown (9.5 sec if traited) where as guardians zealot’s defense has 15 sec. Also guardians sword is considered to be a offensive weapon. As for warriors sword i think its pretty decent if you have leg specialist i dunno why you think its that bad, you get 2 immobilizes for a sec also i think a 4 sec immobilize+bleeds with the F1 adrenaline skill. I just think guardians sword could use some buffing when compared to other classes sword skills. Maybe they could add a 1 sec immobilize on flashing blade and have zealot’s defense with a 12 sec cool down than a 15 sec. Also saying i’m a unskilled guardian because i’m suggesting improvements on a weapon is just stupidity. I have 900+ hours into my guardian with 27k wvw kills most of those kills came from being on the lowest populated server there is (Eredon Terrace) so bub know what you’re talking about before you try an troll.

Blurred Frenzy-9.5 sec cool down invulnerable for 1/2 sec
Zealot’s Defense-15 sec cool down blocks projectiles

Also Mesmers have a immobilize on sword 3 to get nearly a full blurred frenzy off, while a guardians zealot’s defense gets maybe half of its full hits off, and has no immobilize on a sword or any offhand weapon. So range doesn’t really matter in this situation.

Well I don’t see how guardians swords are “just fine” since if you look at mesmer’s sword skills blurred frenzy 12 recharge and invulnerable for 1/2 a sec or so and if you add the 20% reduction for swords skills with trait “Blade Training” goes down to 9.5 sec. Where as guardians sword 3 has a 15 sec cool down and blocks projectiles. I just don’t see the balance there.

You forget that there is something called PvP, which needs to be balanced to be fun. You don’t know how hard it is to balance 8 classes all with different weapons, and it isn’t even near perfect yet, and you already demand new weapons. Only if PvP Balance is stabilized, we can get new weapons. And don’t say “only make it available for PvE”, that’s a stupid solution.

lol demand? I’m not demanding I’m SUGGESTING since this is the suggestions forum. If you have a problem with pvp balance issues make you’re own thread instead of raging in this one.
“Warrior: Torch (skill4 could be a fire field done by tossing the torch, skill5 could be a cone fire attack)” this sounds a lot like a mix of the ranger and guardian torch skills (ranger #4 skill on torch and guardian #5 skill)

Right Hand Strength increases critical damage.

Also, have you seen Berserker Guardians? They use Sword and stomp people.

That is critical chance not critical damage, “Critical-hit chance with one-handed weapons is increased by 15%.” http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Right-Hand_Strength. Also full berserker guardians…not a good idea.

I think the guardians sword skills needs to be buffed up a little bit. There needs to be a trait to reduce sword skills by 20% with a increase of 10% damage. Flashing Blade needs a increase in damage and a 1-2 sec immobilize.

Longer cool down for Breakout events

Today, GoM siege’d ET’s Greenlake Tower in WvW, using the breakout event…we pushed them away and killed siegerazer took about 30 min-1 hour. Then after 5 or so minutes they had started another breakout which they eventually took Greenlake Tower. I think there should be a longer cool down limit than 30 min-1 hour to restart the breakout event, and maybe a even longer cool down for a server that is probably 3x larger than Eredon Terrace.

I gotta agree with this post…its the only way ET will win at WvW. But the thing is you can’t make the npc’s too hard…make em like crimsom moa’s or something.
