I have bought gems before, with gold and with real money, and I personally don’t like this new system.
I don’t want to waste gold or money buy buying too many gems.
Maybe if there were a better variety of cheap and interesting things in the gem store, having spare gems wouldn’t feel like a waste, but that’s the way it is now, with most of the interesting items costing more than 400 gems.
I had a strange idea for server mergers the other day: temporary mergers.
Instead of the current glicko based matchup system, we could track population over time and then match servers based on those coverage maps (so each side tends to have players at the same tine). Then, start temporarily merging servers ala eotm, on a weekly basis, to create better matchups.
At Max, merge 2 servers for the week.
This way, you still see your servermates consistently, and the temporaey metaservers could allow for better matchups and variety than are possible now.
So a matchup could end up as
goldserv vs highsilver+highbronze vs midsilver+ midsilver
for one week. Another might be just 4x bronze servers and one silver server.

How do you know this isn’t just a very targeted recruitment thread to address a lack of wvwers on AR?
Athough it might help normalize servers that win mainly via offhours pvd, tweaking the scoring system may not be a good solution overall.
A blowout matchup is still a blowout, even if you give the losing server enough handicap points to go up a rank and fight stronger servers next week.
Does the respawn cd also take effect after manual res/rally?
It does confuse things a lot, especially with thieves/mes who can stealth on down.
Does a killl message show up in the new combat log?
Just because its highly effective against the current flameram meta doesn’t mean it’s OP. I’d rather wait and see a bit. It does seem strong enough to change the meta, but I don’t think its been out long enough to say it needs a nerf yet.
I’d rather see it strongest vs golems instead of the other way around though. Do golem bubbles stop the disabler? A golem rush can be almost perma -bubbled by just rotating bubbles between golems.
Hm… anet messing up the meta just berfore the tourney, wonder if that was the point?
Well I am happy with this now. Having access to the colors lets the community work it out on a short term/immediate need, or longer term.
You could try again with a different build?
I had to reroll my ft engi for this, since a lot of the enemies have high retaliation uptime.
Its free/instant to reroll now out of combat.
The instances aren’t as paimfully long as some of those personal story ones, so even restarting it isn’t too bad if you end up with armor breaks and need to repair.
Ok now I’m curious.
What would the game be like if everyone with a tag was just using it as a vanity item and leaving it active all the time?
Might be interesting to see just for a day or two.
The functionality of an alternate tag color vs the functionality of a tag in general just doesn’t seem close enough for them to have the same cost.
Supposing that having an icon on the map is worth 300g, would the extra ability to change the icons color really be worth another 300g?
The extra utility might be worth something, but it doesn’t provide as much utility as the initial tag.
That aside, charging the people trying to lead the community and make the game better more for their efforts doesn’t seem like a great idea either.
Honestly, as long as its reasonable to get extra colors I’d be OK with the system.
I just want Anet to know I think 300g per color isn’t reasonable, early enough that it can be changed if necessary.
It would be happy too see 300g = basic tag, then you unlock other colors (possibly via badges (wvw)/dragonite (world bosses )/~10-50? g) after that.
So far I don’t know if there have been official statements, just info from the interview and posted to reddit.
I’d rather get my arguments/views in before anything is finalized.
So far I’ve heard
- no refunds unless you have 4+ tags
- old tags all become blue
- have to buy each new color for 300g
I currently have 3 tags, so the above means I get 0 refund, paid full price for tag, and I get reduced functionality (can’t pick the color I paid for) vs new tags?
That is… less than ideal.

My name is Oblyth and I am a dedicated user of the Bouquet of Roses object. Since the recent patch I have noticed several changes have been made to the bouquet that greatly diminish its usefulness as an object and greatly impede upon my gameplay.1. The “Toss Bouquet” throw arc has been greatly modified, randomized, and linked to the skill cooldown.
This means not only can I NOT toss the flowers to some flowerless passerby without trying multiple times or giving up entirely, it does not stay with them. It instantly poofs when I hit my 4 button, and I can do nothing while not having pressed the 4 button. No longer can I share the joy of tossing flowers with my fellow players, as only one bouquet may be active at a time. It is also nearly impossible to hit asura, though easier to hit taller folk. This, of course, is greatly sizeist and intolerable for a egalitarian society. And let me assure you, even at the most rambunctious of weddings a bride does not haphazardly toss her bouquet. She knows exactly who expects to catch it!
2. The bouquet times out after a certain amount of time.
Once one has discovered the joy of repeatedly “Scattering Flower Petals”, it is difficult to let that feeling go. Me along with several other floral enthusiasts have spent many an hour repeatedly spreading flowers in celebration of life. The only reason I can think of for this unfortunate change is concerns about the upcoming pollen season. I think we can reach some sort of agreement here. We will cut back on our flower tossing time IF you return the ability to us to happily AFK while tossing.
Both of these changes have greatly impacted my idle flower tossing gameplay in a negative way. I don’t think they were well thought through and I would hope you would all agree that the bouquet was definitely more glorious before. Please reconsider these changes, ArenaNet!

condi, vit, x class specific points (based on the per-class stat bonuses available via traits)

How about weapon specific stats, like +range?
The yaks are just angry they walked that far for nothing.
A yak will attack the door of a keep it nornally visits, if the yak was already en route when the structure fipped to an enemy color. Normally these yaks are slain by the guards I believe, so they don’t last too long.
anet: change the wvw forum to whine vs whine, restore matchup forum as subforum.
What are some things either players or anet could do for wvw on April 1?
Examples:
Anet : permastealth for all players, so new players can experience the joys of culling.
Player: Supply traps everywhere.

I vaugley recall the boss of this exploding into a dozen loot boxes, but I cant recall if that was in beta or early after release…
I was thniking on this for a bit, but thought that the feature patch might address relevant issues.
I’m not seeing any upcoming blog posts that sound like they touch on defiant though, so I figure I might as well post my idea.
As-is, defiant is a hard counter to crowd control (CC) that scales based on the # of players instead of the amount of CC. This makes CC largly irrelevant in many fights, and not worth heavily speccing into in many cases
But defiant is too overpowered, so only champs have it. This leads to CC spam almost trivializing other content
Instead; I would like to see it behave more like Might (although not as a removable boon), where more stackd makes it more effective, and each stack is applied by incoming CC.
Each stack would have its own duration, after which that stack expires. The duration would based on severity/duration of CC.
I.e. stacks from crippled might be 50% of the condition duration, but daze would apply 5x duration.
Different CCs would provide more stacks of defiant, in relation to their severity.
I.e a cripple condition adds 1 stack, an interrupt might provide 5, and a knockdown 10.
More stacks of defiant would provide increasing effect, to create diminishing returns on CC.
I.e each stack reduces net/cripple/frozen duration by 4%, and adds 4% chance of failure to interrupt/stun/daze/knock/fear/blind/weakness.
This make a target immune to CC at 25 stacks (which wear off over time) to avoid lockdown, but simply a bit more resistant to occasional CC. A boss monster could still generate 25 stacks just before a large key attack to make it un-interruptable.
Aside from making Cc more relevant in champ fights, this also frees it up as a mechanic for use besides champs.
I.e. players and elite mobs could gain shorter duration defiant stacks.
This would add more dynamic play for CC, and potentially allow it to be a focus for builds without becoming useless during boss fights. It could also reduce reliance on the stability boon, which not all classes have good access too (especially if you don’t count skills that grant stability, but block your own skills while you have it).
Adding in some defiance traits/sigils/runes allows far more counterplay vs CC across classes, which is itself countered by more effective/limited use of CC since the actual a ount od defiance is largely controlled by/visible to the attacker. Short term stunlocking or keeping people off points would still be viable, but you couldn’t keep it up indefintely. Spamming CC on a target would quickly lose effect.
Err.. your SS shows an incombat mesmer keeping up with the other chasers…
Yoy sure the necro didnt just have travellers/speed runes on for the same +25%, or the dagger trait for +25%?
Casual friday : no armor/trinkets/runes, steady weapons.

Hm… Ive been playing with turret/condi grenade lately. Mostly just heal turret + thumper, and accellerant packed turrets. Combine with healskill recharge trait and toolbelt recharge trait, it provides a good amount of water+blasts, and knockbacks from thumpers overcharge and each turrets destruction. I
I think im mixing in either eg for extra stunbreak, or fire or net turret (both have pretty good toolbelts, and decent recharge for detonating).

Some weapons are simply useless. Will they get fixed, or just completely reworked as they should be?
No, they won’t.
Meanwhile we still have stuff like the No.3 skill on Thief Pistol and Dagger with no offhand which just boggle my mind why they are there in the first place.
I always assumed the empty-offhand skills were there to justify making a thief named ‘One Armed Bandit’…

i.e say 10 seconds faster if it got oneshot, 5 if twoshot, normal otherwise?
Possibly also related to if you swap out the ‘dead’ pet or not? (reses faster if it stays active)
Whats the cooldown on renewal sigil as well, due yo same issue w/kits?
Try to increase your screen resolution, or decrease UI size in game options.
I think there have previously been crash bugs when the game tries to spawn a window that doesn’t fit in the game’s screen size. (I recall specifically the new wvw interface doiing this)

The reactor has a button to specifically port in a steam ogre, which is a creature from the future in another reality. So it has some connection to time.
Infact that’s the plot twist. Both fractals would have been the same thing.
They could borrow a plot twist from babylon 5:

Yeah all three servers and everyone coming out to play deserves a salute – so here’s to ya! This has been a great match and hard fighting everywhere.
My only complaint in this match is that I have to go to sleep too ealry so that I can wake up and go to work the next morning and I can’t play as much as I want.
My solution to that was forgetting to go to sleep, and drinking more caffeine in the morning to compensate…

I recently changed to a Flamethrower build on my Engi; and it seems to be effective to me (seems to tag a lot of people for drops at least…).
Opinions from the other side?

Well really I don’t think we are able to answer that without knowing what we should grade you in 1v1’s, small group combat or zerg wars ect.
I can’t remember fighting you but I think it would be easier for those who have fought you to say good or bad if they knew the context in which you wanted to be judged.
I didn’t really plan for much with the build, I never really got to fully thinking it out.
I want to pick out some better matched gear/runes for it; but I’m not sure which directions to tweak it yet.
I am interested in hearing how good/bad it is for zergin, small group, delaying/contesting, pushing choke points, fashion contests, etc.
I was trying to compare to my previous build, but it generally does completely different things than that build (grenades).

TLDR: hows my driving?
I have fun in wvw using FT + p/s and a tankish (formula 409, juggernaut, faster elixir recharge, and backpack regenerator) build (compared to my previous full zerk grenades at least…), +sigil of nullification. Largely using CC, blind, and FT 2/pistol for dmg.
Elixir R for 4x dodge escapes when I overextend into the enemy hordes to pop air blast / shield 4 (check for stability 1st though), elixir B for swiftness/retal/fury/lower cooldown elixir.
I meant to turn it into a troll build with accelerant packed net/thumper turret for additional CC in place of elixirs, but never got around to it. I couldn’t get used to the new healing turret…
I thought Anet were planning to tweak the glickiness this month; so the matchup may not last too much longer than that.

You could pick a low pop + balanced tier and split your guild across it to become the best PvSelf guild ever…
