Ever since i got my quip i have been wondering
why isnt the grenade kit works like the Grenade Barrage (gren kit toolbelt skill)
and by that i mean throwing the connfeti bullets thingy
just kill him first , u dont need to win the fight for the achi only to kill chomper
all condi dmg stuff feels weak w/o proper gear
30 explosive, take grenade range , 20% cd for gren and bombs and incinidary poweder
10 in fire arms, pistol CD
20 alchemy invigorating speed, and backpack regen
10 in tools for speedy kits.
kits you should use – elixir gun, bomb and gren (u can change explosive from grenede range to bomb radius increase whenever u want , just a perk of this build)
the elixir gun u can replace to what ever, heal should be healing turret (i suppose i dont need to teach you how to use it)
and thats about it, this build is everything, and its a god in pvp and with the gren range it owns wvwA note on incendiary powder, A.) It’s single target, and B.) if you have another class that applies burning alot (looking at you guardian) it becomes more or less worthless, probably a better option would be 10% more damage from explosions or even shrapnel if you really want to bleed the hell out of stuff (and it’s aoe). Everyone seems to discount the bombkit as en effective way to deal damage, but with 25 might and 25 vuln + a warrior banner and proper food and trait setup it’s easy to get 8k+ auto’s from bombkit, it’s why I like to pair the kit with sd, and run toolkit and then any of the other standard sd utilities you find useful. You still have perma swiftness and vigor for lots of dodges and then toolkit for the 3 second block, or even using the toolkit pull to yank a single target to you if someone is going to go down and you want to give them a shot by pulling the mob away. The disadvantage of course is that you have very limited condi removal in that setup.
yep, anyway the build i gave him is VERY versatile and works for literraly everything, especially in pvp
This post makes me sad. Of all class forums, ANet has posted the most on engineer, and yet none of them have been on any subject other then hobo-sacks and legendaries.

We all know what this game’s about.
I also dont need to explain why those issues are major deal, because that would be preaching to the choir.
To excuse this topic , i’d say this:
Engineers have no reason of getting a pretty weapon or a pricey backpiece beside being social in LA.
i would enjoy the bombs getting larger, as i feel the trait increas (is noticeable) could be a bit bigger but not too much.
in a moving fight u miss alot of the bombs ur putting out and the heal is already very minor so yeah either increas the heal (less reasonable) or increase the range .
good idea overall but ANET has their balance team and resources well put out and this is matter of buisness on what to invest first

make quip affect kits, and maintain the aura and footsteps.
just like when u hold the quip and throw grenade barrage , so be it on grenade kit

In what way in hell thiefs have low risk?
In the sense that no matter what happens, you can pack enough condition clearing and stealth to escape virtually any situation in WvW, bar none. If there’s no chance of death, then the “risk” side of “risk versus reward” is rather limited in scope.
I see that you are a guardian, thief can easily escape a guardian, but in no way he should be able to kill him. obviously (you are here, “fixing” stuff in the forums) ur doing something wrong.
i assume ur a traditional MMO player so you wont be able to understand this, but in few circumstances this game is like a rock paper scissors.
rock>scissors>paper>rock etc
as a guardian you have problems against thiefs? a warrior would crush them (just an example) so just the fact that you as a guardian have a problem with thief doesnt apply to all the classes.
and just for the record, obviously you were just getting constantly outplayed by thiefs so this conversation is pointless
heartseeker spam is really easy to deal with, when spamming HS thiefs are helpless.. especially against warrior who can stun lock them to death

i cant even bother trying to look nice on my engi as its impossible beside getting the armor right the backpiece and the weapons are invisible :X
Shield is ur favorite thief crusher weapon
it offers everything to kill a thief- a good daze, knock back, blocks, projectile reflect
SHADOW REFUGE – everytime u see one of this rocket boots into it and use the 4#
skill and make the thief pay for hes lame attempt of escaping
mesmers are more wanted overall in PVE, and for pvp depends on the situation
in the end its allways what you rather play
once you played a thief, you understand all its flaws
you learn when to dodge, when to throw blinds and where to blindly spam ur aoe skills
once you play a thief you realize how helpless a thief is inside shadow refuge and how easy it is to make him regret throwing it (just spam inside in a pattern that you think hell be moving , he has 2 choices, either soak the damage and wait for the refuge to finish, or exit early and get stealth debuff)
simple as that! and as for heartseeker its one of the easiest skills to dodge and manipulate by the enemy
Thief stealth mechanics are broken.
End of story.
Anet has their head so far up it that they cannot fix the problem and it’s too rooted into the theif profession that even if they did/could, it would decimate the class w/o restructuring it completely.
Broken class for broken people who like broken ezmode things.
Only then will you learn how to counter a thief.
How to counter a thief-
Step 1: Realize how incredibly stupid your class is in terms of roaming. Accept it.
Step 2: You also need to realize that if you are a thief, you’re set. If you’re anything but a thief, continue to step 3.
Step 3: Quit to desktop OR go to character select. If you chose character select, continue to step 4.
Step 4: Click “Create New Character” button at the bottom left corner. Race/looks doesnt matter. Choose the thief as your profession.
Step 5: Level him to 80.
Step 6: Delete your old character, as Arena-net will continue to nerf your roaming capabilities due to in-experienced thief players complaining about the fact that their class met another class that did something that they do. Then when other players claim the thief is overpowered, they bash them with things like “L2P”. They are people like Zacchary. And he is right. You make a thief. And you level him to 80. And you play that thief. Learn the class, and you can realize this simple, and indisputable fact. A thief, when roaming, will either 1- Kill you. 2- troll your group of 2-8 with relative ease. 3- Realize that the group or single person they just ran across DOES know how to fight a thief. so they run away. Run away. Let that sink in your minds a little. Run away . So how about those other classes. The thief either gets a loot bag, a giggle when he trolls other groups, or no punishment at all when he makes a bad decision. While other classes are painfully punished for roaming. Thief=Extremely low risk, relatively great rewards. Warriors, and thats about it, are the only class that comes close to doing what the thief does. Only without stealth . That’s why they bring up warriors so much. So go ahead. Tell me to learn to play. I am only going to refer you to this post. Especially that part where I mentioned low risk/high reward.

Sigil of Paralyzation will increase Tactical Strike daze to 3 seconds. It won’t make significant difference on Pistol Whip stun.
Are you sure? i heard about it but i thought it was fixed

First of all , thief use medium armor.
And speedy kits are in the alchemy tree, which gives u boon duration that increase ur Swiftness buff.
Maybe 0.5 isnt much, but i never miss even half a second of swiftness.
If you said that when you fail (which u shouldnt) u have 2sec w/o swiftness, that is Entireley ur problem.
Btw, rocket boots.
As we all know , engineer lack when it comes to end game looks, if its our weapons or our backpiece.
This is a really big issue, as the endgame is mustly about the looks.
To be honest i really expected that the legendary weapons will change the kits
abilities, as when you use Grenade Barrage when holding Quip u throw conffeti, but Kkits are Independed, and dont relies on the weapon ur holding and this is how the kits Got neglected.
The kits lack of customization is really big of a deal, as one said in the forum
“Big Hobo sack”.
We remain unable to use epic backpiece and enjoy it , same with the legendaries.
How to solve? im not here to tell arena net how to do their job, but im sure if they Need inspiration they will pay us a visit.

when doing long runs at fractal, or any other dungeon sometimes the food or any other consumeable buff runs out during the fight and its inconvinient to reuse them during the battle.
Also forgetting to use nourishment at all is a common issue!
I hope they add lightning trails to the rest of the weapons.
feels like it should, as there is no reason only few of the weapons will have that and the rest wont.

The shield, the longbow and the shortbow have lightning trails (from what i saw in the previews of the skins) and i the rest of the skins do not.

I absolutely agree with you, these items should be accountbound on aquire and soulbound on use.
Guess what? Months ago I bought my first AC greatsword…with my Necro! I did not even go to read that soulbound on a aquire part, since I was more than confident that since tokens are accountbound, the mechanic would be the same when aquiring the item, but of course not and I had a Greatsword salvaged and wasted that way.
Not long ago then, I bought HotW medium coat for my Charr Engi. She was high level but not 80 yet, I would never have thought I would ever delete her, but as the Engi received some changes in the time, I just could not enjoy to play her anymore so, a good exotic gear went wasted again for being soulbound without reason.
I do not blame ANet for any of these cases of course, it was my fault only for not paying enough attention and for taking a risk.
But still, I believe that just making these items accountbound on aquire would only do some good and prevent people from ending up in such /horribly/ unpleasant situations. It is not that deciding which character will use the tokens to buy the items would break the economy nor anything after all!
To me this was such a frustrating situation i just stopped playing since all this time i invested in this went to nothing, and now i just hope this will get fixed / changed
and i can get my gear to my warrior or atleast a refund :\

Any such change would take developer resources that can be better spent elsewhere. There is no amount of dev time spent on it that will prevent people from choosing to not read a warning, from clicking on, “yes,” when they really should click on, “no,” or, “cancel,” and so on.
There comes a point at which spending finite resources to prevent people from choosing to act against their own interests is throwing good money after bad.
I do understand what you are saying but this could prevent people from doing this same frustrating mistake.
I was so excited when i had enough tokens so i just went to the token exchanger and just bought it , i didnt even notice it was soulbound until i logged on to my warrior and couldnt extract it from the bank.
I’m pretty confident im not the first one this happend to, but in general this is about life quality of the game itself, you can be that guy “your problem that you havent notice” but in the end its never just one person.

I had more than a thousand CoF tokens, that i saved for a new gear for my warrior.
The tokens were on my thief, so with all the excitment i purchased the HEAVY gear on my thief , that wears MEDIUM gear.
so i put the gear in my bank and when i log into my warrior for my suprise the gear was soulbound, which i found very upsetting.
and i know, thats my problem for not noticing, but there was no warning about purchasing a HEAVY gear that i cant possibly use, wasting a thousand if not more tokens that took weeks to get, but now i cant use the gear that i bought.
so im suggesting to make it account bound, and not soulbound on aquire to avoid those akward situations, that are just so frustrating and that killed all my motivation for my warrior, this is not a gamebreaking problem just a very big lifestyle suggestion, as the small things do matter.
also i sent a mail to support and they couldnt help at all (if anyone cares)
