Heh well, I was thinking of those posts as talking about a different matter. I was referring to the extremely long line of golemns in Lion’s Arch which was definitly not done using the glitch because the golemns walked out of the cave alone, stopping at the end of the line.
The rest (like the mass in Heart of the Mists) may be just players inspired by the original occurrence that now utilize the glitch mentioned. I don’t know about the latter, however.

I saw the lane of golemns personally and can confirm that this indeed happened ^^ The lane even GREW over time, until the Golemns circled the mystic forge in a guard like manner. That is what I meant in my original posts.

Necro in PvE is meh, but you can faceroll 99% of PvE content with any class…however Necro is in a great place in pvp!

MM necro is stupidly easy to play, but quite boring in my opinion. Try power necro with barbarian amulet in spvp, it is godlike while not being broken like warrior or engi. You can nuke points and even tank for quite awhile with ~50k total hp. And of course there are cond. builds like terrormancer or lifeforce-bunker that you can try as well.

MM is sorta meh , even if “stupidly easy” as you say , pve they suck because they dont avoid aoe so boss cleave = lol dead minions , also theyve started showing the issue of un responsiveness like they had at launch. so MM not too great right now (and if they dont ever fix pet / minion survivability in pve , then NEVER will be great)

Kekuso specified that he was refering to sPvP not PvE (I bolded it for you :P). MM is a faceroll cheese build in sPvP. AI carry for sure. Really strong in the 1v1, if you dont have enough AoE to bring down the minions you’re gonna have a bad time…

While I certainly agree with you that the defensive players get shafted on the rewards for their play style, and I also admire the creativity/effort you put into your suggestions; however, there are some that I don’t really agree with.

A. the bloodlust ruins wxp reward: there is really no way to add a wxp reward to the bloodlust ruins that isn’t farmable. The suggestion that you gave, while good and valid, would most certainly be farmable, unfortunately. However, keeping/taking bloodlust for your server is rewarding all in its own, perhaps not personally but it does help the server overall.

B. supply camp fortifications: supply camps are meant to be a gamble. they are easily flipped for a reason. Supply camps offer a very significant advantage to the server that holds them. For example, my server YB is facing FA at the moment. A tactic FA loves to use against us is preemptive strikes on our camps. They will come into our borderlands and flip our SE and NE camps before making a 1 or 2 attacks on Hills to clear siege. Once they have cleared our siege and made us burn our supply on repairs instead of rebuilding siege, they rally their server and storm our keep because they kept control of our supply camps and starved us of the supply necessary to repel them. The real problem is that our players did not feel compelled to defend our camps/yaks. The role that supply camps play works perfectly as it is and I strongly disagree that it needs improvement.

In the end the server that can convince its players to play defensively despite the lack of rewards is the server that should hold the upper hand. I STRONGLY disagree that Anet needs to implement some sort of reward system just to get players to be team players. At the end of the day if you are going to be a selfish server overall, you are going to, and should, lose to a server that plays as a team and makes those kinds of sacrifices for the greater good.

Living Story and the WvW/PvP Community

Disclaimer: I understand that the Living Story is a BIG part of/selling point for Guild Wars 2. That said, I’m not against the Living Story content since I typically enjoy it, where it belongs.

A.) Please, if you want the WvW community to take Season 1 seriously and you wish to encourage competition between the servers, DO NOT add Living Story content to WvW during a “Season”, especially despite an explicit promise to not change anything during Season 1.

“To further incentivize spending your points we will not be introducing any new ability lines during the season, nor shall we be making any other changes to WvW, with the exception of bug fixes, until the season concludes. This is to ensure that the playing field is as level as it can be at the start and the finish of the season.”

Please, do not alienate your die hard WvW community by going back on promises of a legitimate tournament between the servers.

If you insist on shoving LS content down the throats of players who wish to have no part in it, PLEASE do it during the off season when the majority of us will not be so offended by it.

B.) I understand that the PvP community is dying despite Anet’s futile efforts to revitalize it, but substituting the bonus chest for winning an Arena game for a handful of LS garbage is only going to drive players away from playing Arena games.

I realize that there are very highly ranked players who literally have hoards of glory and no use for the typical win bonus, but these players are very few and far between. DO NOT mistake the high profile of these players for the majority of your PvP community. The majority of us (or perhaps just those of us who are below rank 50) would rather have a chest full of PvP gear than a hand full of Halloween bags that sell for hardly any value on the trading post.

This is especially true with low rated players whose matches are frequently 4v5’s and 5v4’s.

Perhaps I speak for myself when i say this, but hopefully not, I would rather grind hot join matches to get my PvP fix until the end of the Halloween event just because the reward for winning an Arena match is absolute and utter trash. I’m not even going to address the issue with match making and the leader boards as that’s a completely separate discussion.

For all of my condescension, please take it as frustration and not an attack on Anet. GW2 is by far the all around best MMO I have played to date. I only wish to see this game continue to succeed, I just happen to express it through tough love.

The bottom line is that there are separate and distinct areas of the game. If you want to play PvP, you can; if you want to play WvW, you can; if you want to experience the Living Story, you can. So why force us to experience the Living Story content in game modes where it doesn’t belong? It is nothing but a source of contention and frustration for your customers.

Hmmm, I was hoping this was a legit post.

Same here, seems like this thread is more of the same old QQ about server transfers. Thats just the way it works. People want to win, its not anets fault people are going to transfer servers to win. Besides, server transfers keep the wvw community from getting stagnant. Its a good thing.

@ OP: It is unfortunate that you’re at the bottom of silver league. But this is a competition, some one has to lose. If you’re really that upset over it then you should have transfered.

Anet didnt screw your server. The hardcore wvw guilds that transfered because they wanted to win screwed your server.

I’m having the exact same issue. Was afraid that it was my ISP that was the culprit since I hadn’t heard about anyone having the same issue yet.

I’d have to agree with you though, I think it’s on Anet’s side of things. My brother and I are on the same internet connection and he’s still playing at the moment while I’m getting (oKB/sec) on the downloader and can’t get in to the game.

I just figured it out. You have to be in a PvE area (not heart of the mists) to use or convert the skin.

nope, i bought the skin and went directly to pvp to convert it. double clicking doesn’t work and the right click menu just gives me the options to preview or destroy.

Maybe i was wrong to assume that the Sovereign weapon skins could be converted to pvp items.

Or maybe I was mislead by the other living story items that could be converted to pvp items…

Either way, I just wasted 10 gold on the Sovereign Crusader skin since I only wanted it for pvp, not to replace my Corrupted Avenger skin in pve.

What do you guys think? Is it reasonable to assume that these skins should be convertable to pvp items?

my guildmate has a theory that the most recent patch caused this which seems to make sense. that patch made it so if u swim under rata sum u get sent to jail. i think the “restricted” zone in the water some how includes the idea incubation lab on accident therefore sending u to jail.

it is for sure not the portal. i have map completion and the way point sends me to jail anyway.

The fact that guardians were ever included in the “EVERY OTHER CLASS CAN GET AWAY” statements pretty much proves that the QQ’ers in here have no idea what they’re talking about.

2 out of 3 of guardians’ gap closers require a target and can’t be relied on for escape. The 1 gap closer that we can use for escape is on the greatsword and only has a pathetic 600 range.

Thats not enough to get away so you’d have to have staff as you’re second weapon set. only thing thatll help you there is 8 seconds of swiftness on a 15 sec cd (something most classes should be able to keep up with) and wall of warding.

Wall of warding itself can be hard to place correctly (and most people don’t know how to place it) AND unless its cast right on top of the person chasing you, they can easily just walk around the kitten thing or pop stability and ignore it.

Only other option would be to take retreat or save yourselves as a utility but tbh do you really want to waste a utility slot on something solely for escaping? especially when there are more crucial utilitys for wvw like stand your ground and wall of reflection.

So basically the only guardian with an ability to escape effectively would be a greatsword/staff guard with 30 pts into virtues for the boon duration, 20pts into honor for 20% recharge on 2h weapons, plus a food buff for boon duration.

To think there are many of those running around is absurd.

TL,DR: Saying “every” other class can escape more effectively than ele’s is asinine and kinda proves that you are just QQ’ing or don’t know what you are talking about.

But all of that is beside the point, the 8 classes are not meant to be equal at the same things. they all have their own niche where they out perform the other 7 classes.

Of topic, but please no more QQ about theives. Learn to control their movements and outsmart them. They drop like flies when they start taking damage.

If by flying you mean on flying mounts, then no. You’re reading into things that aren’t there. The devs have already said that they don’t want mounts in the game for multiple reasons. That and the game is not designed for flying mounts, it would take a MASSIVE redesign of the way the zones work in order to implement flying mounts.

That and the fact that I will quit if they put them in.

My guess is that the Zephyr Sanctum will most likely come to Lion’s Arch or somewhere near it. But i’m pretty sure that the majority of the event will take place on or around the ship. I think the ship is supposed to be a pretty big center piece for the atmosphere of the event.

Also note that the lessons of the sky achievement will have us exploring some place called the Labyrinthine Cliffs. Afaik, thats not a location currently in the game.

To be honest I am not personally excited about the achievements reward system. Dont get me wrong. I am a completionist. I have over 10k points atm. I like achievements in games. But to be fair I always liked them as a goal on their own. Not as a semi-mandatory tool to achieve greater things or get some rewards. The total count was a goal on its own and I liked the fact that many people found that “useless”. That identified me as an achievement junkie. Something that sits in its own niche. But oh well, thats just silly me. If this change will make more people happy, I shall not protest it.

We’ll have to wait and see how they implement it, but I imagine that not every achievement will have a reward associated with it. Meaning that there will still be some achievements that only players like yourself will be inclined to complete.

That said, even if everything does end up with a reward tied to it, I still think that most people won’t be in a hurry to complete every achievement they can. Getting to 10k is probably no simple feat, something that not everyone can/wants to do.

HA! After some digging, i finally found it (it wasn’t just made up in my head lol).

Straight from the man himself.

It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.

We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, spectator mode and so on but this issue is absolutely on our radar.

As always, please post your ideas of what you’d like to see solution wise, we love to see the fun ideas y’all come up with too!

Edit: Hopefully you’ll find some sense of consolation in knowing this.

Gonna reword this to what I think it’s actually saying.

Finally, content that I consider hard and challenging. I don’t care if anyone else has fun, or how frustrating it is for low level or new players. For only considering one portion of the player base I love you Arena Net, I really do.

For all those who have legitimate criticism about it, and would like ANet to consider alternatives for future releases, not only does your opinion not matter to me, but I’m also going to insult you for not living up to my standards.

P.S. Please don’t reference my post later when I’m complaining that the world is empty and there are no new players entering the game.

So what would you have Arenanet do to appease their entire player base? Pretty much all of the living story content up to this point has been pretty trivial for a lot of people. Really, where do you get off insinuating that (its) not fair for Anet to throw a bone to the players that have been waiting so patiently for hard content since a month or two after release.

Sure we got FOTM in november. But that was 7 months ago. How long do you think people are going to grind the same FOTM maps OVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVERANDOVER.

I mean have you ever even thought about how many fractal maps you have to complete to get to Lvl 48 just to get to the point where you can grind them for a reliable chance at the fractal weapon you want?

Yeah, shame on you for thinking that the living story content should always and forever be easy modes. Whats so wrong with ONE content update having some difficult content for a change? Especially one that has almost ZERO story content.

I think the White Mantle have been a little too inconspicuous thus far in GW2 to be included. They might include the Bandits or Separtists (who obviously are White Mantle in a sense and it is suspected/known that the higher ups are White Mantle), but I think they’d avoid using the Mantle until some Mursaat related storyline crops up?

Since when are Separatists part of the White Mantle? They don’t want to remove the Queen from the throne, only to end the peace talks and take their land back.

You are correct. He means to say just Bandits. The Bandits and the Separatists are two entirely different and separate groups. Only the Bandits have ties to the White Mantle.

But thinking of it, we aren’t tied to the pact, and personally I would be grateful to escape them. I joined the Order of Whispers and not them.

Also agreed. Our story is not necessarily tied to the Pact, but rather the Pact is tied to Tyria’s story. In that case, it definitely seems as though the Pact will play some part in Tyria’s story in the near future.

But I think we both agree that it would be nice to have the story branch away from the Pact at some point. I’d hate to see GW2 be “Pact kills dragon 1, Pact kills dragon 2, Pact kills dragon 3, etc….” That would be horribly bland and unimaginative.

Agreed. I believe that most of what you said (or things similar to them) are likely to happen. However, it seems I rambled a bit in my post, making my main point a bit clouded.

The point that I was trying to get across is that based on the current state of the game, Jormag and Kralkatorrik (more the former than the latter) pose a more imminent threat to Tyria than any of the other EDs. The story involving those two dragons is at this point more likely to come before anything involving a Cantha expansion (in reference to the topic of this thread).

Take Jormag for instance. First, the Pact is currently taking action against the minions of Jormag as seen in Frostgorge Sound with the Claw of Jormag meta event.

Second, Jormag’s influence can be seen in many of the Norn zones of the game by the presence of the Sons of Svanir and/or Icebrood. If you take a look at the map, you can see that Jormag’s influence spreads down through Frostgorge Sound, branches out in to Snowden Drifts and Wayfarer Foothills, and finally down into Dredgehaunt Cliffs. Hoelbrak is almost surrounded by the servants and minions of Jormag and its only a matter of time before he sends an army of SoS and Icebrood crashing through Hoelbrak.

Third, Snowden Drifts and Dredgehaunt Cliffs are neighboring zones to Lornar’s Pass. If Jormag’s influence were to spread into this zone, it would threaten the Durmand Priory’s headquarters there. Also, note the proximity of this zone to Lion’s Arch.

Anet has pretty much already laid out the path of Jormag’s move into central Tyria. From the story writers’ point of view, they’re going to have a hard time explaining why a military force like the Pact would need to ignore all of this and go to Cantha instead (which is pretty much irrelevant to the story so far).

I’m of the mind that Anet will use most (if not all) of the Elder Dragons as the basis for future expansions. Should that prove to be true, there is just too much set up for Jormag not to be the next in line.

Also, in reference to your point about GW having plenty of dangers for a story line without the Elder Dragons. I agree that anything is possible but it just begs the question, what is more dangerous than 5 immensely powerful dragons that threaten to consume the entire world? They’ve been asleep for millennia, they’re hungry, and they’re not going anywhere until there’s nothing left to destroy. Why would Anet create so much set up and then not use it?

I’m a bit surprised that no one has mentioned this already so I’ll go a head and bring it up.

I find it unlikely that the first GW2 expansion will involve Cantha. This is because the game’s main storyline is focused primarily on defeating Zhaitan and it paints the picture that the remaining Elder Dragons are a huge threat to Tyria.

That said, only three of the remaining EDs currently have what I will call an active influence on the game. Jormag’s, Kralkatorrik’s, and Primordus’ minions all show up in certain areas of the game. The other two remaining EDs, the “Deep Sea Dragon” and the “Jungle Dragon”, have, to the best of my knowledge, no confirmed minions in the game at this time (the connection between the Jungle Dragon and “Blighted” mobs is still just speculation despite how likely it is). Meaning that these two dragons currently present less threat to Tyria than Jormag, Kralkatorrik, and Primordus do.

Out of any of the Elder Dragons we know, or speculate, about, the DSD is the only one I find likely (or possible eg. Jormag/Kralkatorrik, who have known locations) to be relatable to Cantha. That said, it would be absurd for the first expansion to pursue an Elder Dragon all the way in Cantha, when Jormag and Kralkatorrik present an obvious, imminent threat to the people of Tyria.

Jormag and Kralkatorrik are practically on the doorstep of zones that are currently in the game. It makes no sense to me that the next sequence in the story line would not involve one or both of those Elder Dragons.

Addendum: I also find it very unlikely that the Elder Dragons will be defeated as part of the monthly content updates. The story content in these updates has been, for the most part, temporary and I doubt Anet plans to make any of the fights against the Elder Dragons temporary. So far the only thing the Signet has over Shelter is the massive heal. It is literally a life saver, from almost dead to completely healed – it’s a total reset. It destroys the enemy’s moral.

But I still prefer Shelter because of the many synergies. Gain might on block, heal while blocking with AH and gaining Might. And finally apply Fire on block, which itself leads to many other synergies like +10% dmg on enemy with Fire, +10% dmg on enemy with Conditions, remove boon on Fire, etc…

Coming out of Shelter, you have stacks of Might and an enemy ready to receive +20% incoming damage. Extremely dangerous combination.

I have to say i’ve completely over looked the synergy between shelter, valor 25, and AH. Thats making shelter look a whole lot better than it does at face value. Definitely going to be giving this a try.

I’m actually feeling kinda sad right now. First SE then GoF and now RE is thinking of leaving.. :\ can’t catch a break can we.

All I have to say is that even though these guilds have left, or a thinking of leaving, our smaller guilds are stepping up to the challenge. going to give a shout out to some guilds I have seen lately just so the darkhaven people that come to the forumes to read and not reply can see that we are not going down unless its in a blaze of glory.

TRA – seen you tonight in Borlis BL. Good job to you.

Soul – I haven’t played in awhile but you guys are always fast to respond and more then willing to jump down into a zerg to kill seige.

BRH – I know your commander Cliide. Good guy, good leader. Keep it up guys. we will need you.

VEX – seen few of you playing some good defense at supply camps. ^.^

And many more I have seen but can’t exactly remember. sorry for that.

These small guilds make a server. No one big guild can hold all borderlands together. It is you that we rely on and it is you that we turn to when we need that extra 30 supply or someone to add to a zerg. We will need all the small guilds to work together more then ever now seeing as were loosing more and more people.

I will personally be with darkhaven all the way down. Whether we stop our own fall and stand up or hit the bottom. We will eventually stand and we will eventually get stronger.

Really good post man. It bums me out to hear that you guys are loosing players but attitudes like this will keep you guys strong while you rebuild your wvw population. Stick together, support each other, and stay positive. Things will turn around. What doesn’t break you will only make you stronger.

Playing as support

Before you had to actually kill someone to get any reward from the events. And people like me who preferred to play as a support and help out, heal, revive etc was left in the dust.

Don’t need to kill anyone to get credit for events. Any point capture events just require you to stand in the circle that appears. For point defense events I don’t think you have to actually kill an attacker to get credit. I’m pretty sure you just need to be there defending for a certain percentage of the event timer.

As for kills, finishing a downed player does not affect getting credit or loot for the kill. You just have to do 5-10% percentage of the damage done to an enemy for credit and a chance at loot (small enough that even a support build should be able to achieve). Also, run in groups because as long as you do SOME of the damage but your group as whole did 5-10% of the damage you will get credit and a chance at loot (doesn’t matter how much damage you contributed, as long as you did contribute). Obviously a full group will give you the most chances at loot. Also use lots of AoE abilities as hitting more enemies will give you more chances to get credit and loot.

Long story short, playing a support build you should still get a pretty fair amount of rewards. Thats as long as you don’t stay in the back and try to play healbot. There isn’t supposed to be dedicated healers in this game so focus on making support builds that support your team while still dealing a moderate amount of damage and you should do fine.

I don’t get y everyone complains about zergs.

Ego. They want be an army of 1 but large groups are a constant reminder that they aren’t and will never be. They think they’re too skilled and intelligent to run with a bunch of other people, especially when some one else is calling the shots. The people who cry about zergs are usually full of themselves and can’t be reasoned with. They’re not reasonable people so don’t even try.

Just let them QQ on the forums. The more time they spend here, the less time they spend ganking people that aren’t built for 1v1s.

(Edit: Not knocking players who solo, just the ones who cry about zergs. There is a definite roll to be filled by solo players/small groups.)

One thing that could partially solve this problem is that traits in wvw should be fully unlocked from level 10, because that’s the real problem.

Come on… do you want a welfare check with your traits too? If you basically unlock everything for a class at level 10, whats the point to even care about leveling it? Gear is whatever, but traits and utility skills are what really defines a build and allows you to play the class how you enjoy it the most. And that is something that you should have to EARN.

Agreed. You’d think that getting hit by a cat or a treb should be more devastating than it is. Removing the aoe hit cap on seige would definitely make them more powerful with out having them 1 hit lowbies.

Probably more than just my two cents, but anyway…

In regards to the downed state giving larger groups the advantage over smaller groups i’d have to disagree. In my personal experience I have gone up against groups larger than mine and been successful BECAUSE of the downed state (not bragging here, just using an example). Getting your teammates back on their feet is the most important thing you can do in a fight especially when out numbered. The more of your team that responds to a downed ally the faster they will get back up and the less time there is for your opponent to aoe the kitten out of you. That being said, there are a handful of abilities in this game that block in coming projectiles and aoe damage. These are really valuable skills to have in this kind of situation for obvious reasons.

But I still find it amazing how often enemies will actually just let you rez your downed teammates. Keeping your team up, while preventing enemies from rezzing and finishing their players off will quickly stack the odds in your favor. Focus your targets to down them, use knockbacks on the rezzing players, and finish their downed players quickly.

The downed state can definitely be used against you but there are ways to prevent that as well as use it to your own advantage. It just takes group coordination and access to the right skills for the given situation. Understandably, not every group is as coordinated as say a guild using voice chat for example, and not everyone understands the importance of certain skills when it comes to rezzing. But that is what usually determines who wins the fight. The team that keeps their players up the best should win. Thats how it should be, WvW is not 100% about individual player skill. Its also about team work and coordination, among other things.

All that said, I can understand why some people dont like the downed state. It can be frustrating at times but i dont necessarily agree that it should be removed entirely. Some of the professions have mediocre downed abilities while others are really exceptional, but that is a completely different discussion.

To Dragonbrand and Darkhaven,

I really hope your servers fight fairly and don’t wall jump or other exploits such as servers we have faced in the past. He’s referring to the open cheating, exploits, and hacking that we’ve seen from certain servers recently. Spawn camping happens in every game, while its not very sportsman like, its not at all against the rules (or the code of conduct for that matter). Besides you guys have 3 exits to choose from. If we are camping one of your spawn exits just go around lol.

and before Plok, or Daisnoob responds to this thread and say it’s not numbers lol, I just want to say is that I can’t wait to fight an authentic server like GOM and NSP and not a created server by transfers like BP. It’s clear to me now that all the noobs that transferred out of the upper tiers probably from losing servers i might add, decided to head down join bp and work their way up since the strategies they wanted to use like oh, bash everyone against the gates, zerg around mindlessly, wasn’t cutting it in the upper tiers who used real strategy, and since it’s perfectly working so well vs servers that can barely field 40 players on a given map at times, it must be th grand of all strategies.

Farewell to you guys, and stay classy, oh wait that’s abit to late.

So, you hang out on top tier servers enough to know what “real strategies” are? Stop mudslinging and name calling. Its clear as day that you are absolutely clueless.

Please stop making assumptions about our server when you aren’t here and have no idea what you are talking about. Borlis is not a server created by transfers. There may have been a few handful of individuals that have transferred here recently but we have not had this mysterious influx of players that we are being accused of.

On that note, yes we do seem to consistently out number our opponents in WvW. There is no denying that. However, most of the WvW players we have gained have come from either PvE or are completely new to the game. But even if you don’t want to believe me (or any of the 130948 other BP players that have said the samething) it doesn’t matter. There is nothing any of us can do about it and currently, it is still a valid part of the game (if it wasn’t, Anet wouldn’t let new and transferring players join servers that outnumber their WvW opponents). So please stop pointing fingers at us for fielding more players than you can like its some kind of unfair advantage or exploit.

We can’t help that there is a large player base on Borlis that likes to WvW. At this point I’m sure everyone agrees that Borlis needs to move up and face opponents that have a similar WvW population. However, WE CAN’T MAKE THE RANKING SYSTEM MOVE US UP ANY FASTER SO STFU ALREADY AND STOP MAKING KITTENS OUT OF YOURSELVES.
