HeroQuest, Talisman, Heroscape, Munchkin Quest
DungeonQuest, Dungeon Run etc…
this could be an easy fix
all Anet has to do is add randomized dungeons that are accessible everywhere in all zones.
for example, you are on the ascalon plains, there could be caves, sewers, basements, etc that lead to randomized dungeons that scale to the level of the players and offers a real incentive to do (whatever the incentive is: armore/weapons/etc).
Unfortunately they put lots of effort into creating a world that nobody wants to explore after the first few visits for lack of incentive or reason.
it is a grind, the “ooooh shiny” has worn off
I’m now playing Path of Exile and Neverwinter
I fear that if they were to make legendary armor with this method, people will only do dungeons, leaving the maps even more empty in other zones.
but if that is what people find “fun” or the way they like to spend their time, that is up to them right
Get rid of the need to say “LFG” by having dungeon queue’s.
People select the dungeon and join a queue.
As more people join the queue, the slots for groups get filled up and once a group is full the dungeon begins. Win win.
I’d love to be able to multi-class as there are only bits and pieces of each static class that I somewhat like.
Keep the static classes but offer some mechanic that allows people to modify their class later in the game. For instance, make completing a personal story worth it by allowing players to multi-class 60% main class, 40% 2nd class or something like that. Perhaps even offering to allow more than 2 class traits & skills.
This would be awesome.
besides looking at your gear to see how much MF you have on it, how can you see the total MF you have? (buffs, gear, etc total)
there should definitely be more weapon skills available for each weapon and they should be swappable just like the other skills and elite.
they could also implement skills that work off of certain items you wear in combination. For instance wearing a ring of flame could cause your sword attack to spit fire or something.
There is an easy solution to both: Make them tradeable.
This I support 100%.
The current system is completely messed up and I hate fractals entirely.
If someone wants to waster their time in there and sell the loot, I am all for it.
great idea
this should be a default setting
it was great for a while when the game first came out, there were tons of people for all events but now most are lvl80 they don’t bother with the low level stuff unless going for map completion; that or they just quit the game.
Well, you could always log out, uninstall gw2, take up playing Tetris again, and start trolling the forums until you get your $60.00 worth like a real gamer should.
that explains all the people on the forums lately
There’s dozens of board games with random dungeon tiles, why can’t a similar system be implemented?
Once the dungeon is completed you get to choose a component for forging some item.
Say you can choose armor or weapon components and each piece or item takes 6 components, then grinding the dungeons wouldn’t be so bad. This to me seems more optimal and fun than getting tokens and turning them in at a vendor.
Ok I need 6 “X” components to forge this hot looking longbow, so I need to run the random dungeon 6 times and I get my bow. This is more fun to me than the current system of getting tokens and having various amounts of tokens to get what you need. Like if I am 3 dungeon tokens short I need to run the same static dungeon again which is not fun and time consuming. Also, if I wanted to to change the color of my item I could put the item and a special component in the forge and change the color or even change the effects, like add colored flames, lightning, acid, etc.
2 gifts and a rare hat for killing Zhaitan
really?
after all the bugs and issues in getting to the end and killing him after nearly 2 hours all we get is a rare hat?
so disappointing
you’d think the dragon would drop some great weapon you could use at least
if they really wanted to fix the economy they would implement ceilings on how much you can sell items for, just like they have minimum value you can sell something for.
fix drop rates as well bu increasing it 40%, yes 40% so everyone has 40% more chance to get anything they are seeking. If people get what they want, the bots will die as everything will be so cheap there would be no profit in it.
I have leveled a Ranger up to 80 but decided to roll a new character, an Elementalist. I am having a lot more fun with this profession and so my aim to get to 80 and make him my main character.
I recently hit level 38 and going through all the heart quests etc. But by each passing day I feel as though the MMO aspect of this game is fizzling out. Rarely do I get a chance to do these dynamic events with actual real life players. For the majority I do all events by myself and I have to leave the [group events] well alone as no one will come help with them on the map. I understand people want to level up to 80 as quick as possible now but levels 1-79 are pretty much a single player game.
The only time I ever ‘play’ with other players is in a small 5 man dungeon. Now to me that is not an MMO.
Is it a case of there are too little players on servers to fill up the maps?
or
Are the dynamic events just not worth it when you could be grinding through all those heart quests?Leveling through 1-80 is getting very stale as after 30 there isn’t much change in my character. Yes I get traits and extra skills. But for the most part, I have chosen the best skills for PvE already. There is no need to alternate.
Loot is very boring also. There is certainly no item I have got below level 80 which has made me step back and go “Wow” and make me feel like a kitten. I can simply go to the Auction House and by my levels gear which is as cheap as chips.
I’d like to hear other peoples thoughts on this.
More people are waking up to these facts and hopefully Anet is implementing a way to keep everyone happy and playing. In it’s current form the game will be pretty dead within a year.
I get bored after 4-5 runs. So I’d say if 1 in 5 chance to get something you want or whats the point. Sure there’s plenty of OCD players who will run something 10+ times in a row to get what they want but realistically most of us have lives to attend to and choose to play GW2 for enjoyment however limited it may be.
They should add a series of glowing weapons that you can change the color of depending on ingredient combinations. This way your legendary can be almost any color just like your armors.
Winning
what do you do if you don’t like farming dungeons?
we don’t do that Fractal crap
yep
lack of rewards
I like the game and want it too succeed
yep same boat
I posted some suggestions here

Another thing is the complete uselessness of legendary over exotics.
For the amount of money and effort required to acquire them at least make them worth getting. Besides unique skins the damage or effects should be more powerful than an exotic, like having base stats and +100 damage or something.
Currently for less than 10g you can get an exotic that is equivalent in damage output to a legendary that costs 500g+ to craft. The logic in this is not apparent unless its simply all about the farming which is what kills games like this.
Anet needs to fix:
1. Dungeons. Make more and make the layout & monsters/traps/puzzles random with list of rewards player can choose. Good rewards will incentive’s players to play random dungeons. Slight variations like in FOTM just don’t cut it. Keep it fresh and exciting by truly randomizing.
2. Legendary weapons need more reason to exist beyond being expensive status symbols.
3. WvW needs an overhaul in the Commander mechanics. Commanders need a HUD to manage and organize troops. Commanders should have option to boot Tourists and AFK’ers out of WvW to give spots to people who want to help defend and conquer. There should also be an option in the HUD to block/boot certain people from joining your squad if they are immature, spam, etc in order to give spot to a contributing team member.
4. WvW communication system is lacking. Getting things done is very difficult and it appears that zerg mentality is all that works. How often has there been siege sitting unbuilt that could have helped sway a battle and yet everyone was too busy chasing badges and the fight is lost while the commander gives up trying to get the siege built.
Teamwork rules the day and the current communication and commander options completely hinder this.
5. Stuns and other disabilities hitting one player from multiple players should not stack. For instance getting paralyzed by 2 mesmers and then killed by a thief in WvW and being unable to move and watching your HP go from full to zero in 3 seconds is disheartening and makes you want to throw you computer out the window.
6. Regain control of the AH and fix the economy, set max allowable values for items not just lowest sellable price.
Notes and impressions for new players:
1. Its fun when you first start playing and exploring, trying out the races and classes.
2. Prepare for lots of farming if you want to advance in the game. If farming is not your thing, look elsewhere at a game like Torchlight 2 perhaps.
3. At least 75% of players are buying gold and items using real money either with Anet or gold farmers. Anet cannot ban 75% of their player base so the playing field is very uneven. Be prepared to pay to win.
welcome to the club
I’ve got 100% completion on one character and have 5 others in various stages of leveling. I have no incentive to continue leveling others because its boring once you’ve done it once or more times. For instance, I can load a level 20 mesmer but running around the same zones again and repeating everytihng is tedious and not fun. Basically you spend a week or so re-visiting the same places and doing the same things over and over for each character and this is not fun in the least.
PVP and WvW break that up but after a few months of WvW, it too is getting old fast as the same old issues crop up. Nobody listens to commanders and a commander interface/HUD is non-existant, making the point of commanders questionable in its current state.
FOTM and the other dungeons were fun the first 3-4 times but its always the same old same.
How can Anet make people in the same boat as me happy?
Make a truly random dungeon with the goal being to recover some “decent” item of the players choosing. I don’t care about stories, character building, cutscenes, etc.
The dungeon could be unlimited in depth, sort of like fotm level selection wise but without the lame missions. Throw monsters, traps and puzzles into the random dungeon layout and it becomes interesting because its challenging and “New” visually.
Also, random dungeons will help stop people memorizing what to do where and when, which IMHO is important in keeping it “fresh” and “exciting”.
I just want to explore “new” locations, kill stuff and feel like I am being rewarded for my time in a satisfactory manner. I don’t want to login and feel a sense of dread and despair at having to level in the same places, killing the same things and receiving the same garbage loot.
I’ve been playing since Beta and have yet to get a precursor and yet some newb with an account less than a week old gets 3 in 2 days in WvW. Ridiculous loot drop rate balance issues there.
The “wow I want to login” factor has become the “ughh, do I really want to login” factor.
and guess what
its still bugged, 2 months later
Yeah one of my biggest gripe with GW2 is the “CC-spam equals challenge”-mentality the programmers apparently have adopted. Look at the three Orr maps for an extreme example. You can’t go anywhere without being Crippled, Chilled and Pulled all over the place! Get off me you freaks!
It is a challenge, sure, but it is a cheap way to add artificial difficulty and in no way a fun challenge for your players. It is anti-fun to the extreme.
Precisely, well said.
they need to fix the point of having a commander and squads/teams as well as the functionality available to commanders, in its present state the only use of a commander tag is to rally zergs to places on the map…
The mechanics behind the commander grouping system could work in such a fashion that once a player joins a squad on a WvW map, they are removed from any group they are in and instead they are moved to a group within the squad. From there the commander can move players to different groups. Depending on the squad limit a commander could have 6 groups at his disposal (if the squad limit was 30, 6 groups of 5).
It would also be great if the commander could click one of the groups and see the dots of those players, so that that if anyone was more interested in gathering materials than WvW the commander could remove them from the group and squad to give the spot to someone who will participate.
Are there other ways the zerg mentality can be deterred?
The way that WvW works at the moment, no.
They have some major overhauling to do, mainly with how commanders work in the field and how they communicate to the teams and squads.
read this:
Commander options too limited
agreed, this should be a default functionality
There should definitely be more emotes
the current list is rather limiting
fingers crossed, they somehow implement a better system
i heard about some other ways to command more efficiently cough teamspeak and alike cough
cough Not everyone is able to use those unfortunately cough
There really ought to be a better system in place to help commanders organize and utilize the myriad of classes and their related skills while in the battlefield.
Currently there is no way for a commander to know if there is any specific class in his vicinity, should he need a skill or task performed.
This is extremely frustrating.
A commander should have a display available which shows the classes of anyone in his or her squad. He should also be able to organize the troops into groups for specific tasks and have the ability to communicate just to the group desired.
example: /group1 message, /group2 message.
This way group1 could be for AOE, group2 could be defense, group3 siege, etc
example commands
“/group3 3 ticks left, take that cata out”
“/group2 cover group3 with shield of judgement, keep spamming it”
“/group1 AOE that wall and take out the arrowcarts”
Please help improve WvW
It is frustrating that commanders frequently have their chat msgs blocked when giving commands in the field and this is something Anet really needs to fix because timing is a deciding factor in battle.
I consider this to be a crippling bug in WvW.
I’ve been playing since beta but only in the last 2 weeks have I begun to have the game freeze when loading a zone. The twirly indicator on the loading screen freezes and the only way to get out of it is to ctrl+alt+del to task manager and shut gw2 down and restart it. The past 3-4 days it has been happening more frequently.
When I enter the JP for wintersday, I get an overflow window and I have to close it to continue. This is an issue because by the time I close it, the snowflake you have to jump on is already disintegrating.
This solution is actually extremely reasonable and the best one posted to date.
I hope Anet realizes this and implements it.
looks like a good twitch player
I think the points speak for themselves
end of story
~* Aster *~
1. Spent a good 30m or so placing siege weapons and had to leave for a bit, came back and they were all gone even tho nothing attacked them.
2. Half built siege items should not expire either. If you’re building siege and get called on a mission (flanking, etc) and come back, poof the half built siege is gone.
would be nice if the blueprints indicated they expired after a certain time so user could refrain from wasting money on them
in Guilds

best guild I’ve ever had the pleasure of slaughtering and pillaging with.
A great variety of personalities, classes, interests and skill levels.
I highly recommend that if you are interested in WvW or even PvE, check out TV.
win win!
I’ve found tagging the target can help as once they pop back up you can spot them faster
Waiting for longer than 10 minutes for WvW is ridiculous, specidically its been over an hour now of waiting. Not fun!
Level 80 ranger seeking a guild on TC with mature members, guild events, chat via vent or mumble.
Preferably with dedicated players for PVE, WVW, PVP
I would really like to see quest based rare items and even different item and armor sets for completing different chains of quests. In the rewards window there could be a % to drop one of the set pieces. So if the player repeated the quest a handfull or dozen times they could get pieces of a set. This would be a real treat for all players and especially those who may not enjoy mat farming.
that would be pretty darn sweet
if its already in the game, I guess I haven`t quite stumbled on any yet
