Standing back and pew pewing is my subjective definition of lame when I play my thief/assassin class I want to be gibbing and evading people. When I play my ranger I want to be standing back and pew pewing.
This is what you don’t get. The point of elite specs isn’t to give people already playing that profession a pile of all the goodies they’ve been wanting. It’s to make that profession appealing to people who weren’t previously interested. It’s supposed to encourage alts and keep people playing in the same way that new professions would, but with massively less development cost in animations and art assets. If the Sniper feels nothing like a Thief, that’s totally fine. If someone who previously only played Ranger now makes a Thief, then that’s a win for the devs.
What you don’t seem to be getting is your entire argument is subjective. Say exactly what you just said except insert ANY weapon or ANY class.
Example: If the Monk feels nothing like a Thief, that’s totally fine. If someone who previously only played Guardian now makes a Thief, then that’s a win for the devs.
Maybe there are players out there that want to play thief and are hoping for a weapon that will make them not so fragile while keeping their utilities, better defence less dmg.
I’ll point this out once again too, 1200 sniper that can stealth, evade, shadow step (multiple time) and every other get out of jail free card a thief has is completely and utterly broken. Yes lets give people an unkillable, uncatchable, 1200 range class because I’m sure that’s healthy for the game …….
However his assumptions may be close to correct. For exampla I can’t get into necromancer. I don’t like daggers, axe or staff on this class. I don’t like how his skills work, not my story. However, after Reaper reveal I’m more exctided for this spec than for revenant.
It was said many times that tengu are most probably the most likely candidate for new race. They were initially included in plans for vanilla GW2 but the idea was scrapped. My expectation is, that we will see Tengu once Primordus becomes active, we will get their city in Dominion of Winds and access to new personal story steps.
Of course I may be wrong but at this point nothing is sure.
You need to buy HoT to get access to elite specs.
You will have to use Hero Points to unlock traits and skills of elite specs.
Is it still available in expansion version?

No, it fits tempest in your opinion. I don’t think it does and consider it the worst weapon choice they could ever implement.
I’m with him/her. I hate the idea of warhorn on ele.
Why such negative emotions? Hate is strong word and this is only the game. We should be happy we can experience the wonderful world of Tyria.
I would advice you to wait for info about Tempest and especially what his traits and skills do. This is more important. Weapons are cosmetics at this point, as one poster above was kind enough to point out and he is 100000% right
While we will have to wait and see, I don’t think you’re correct. Wepon is not a cosmetic at all, especially for a class that has very low choice of weapons and lacks a melee weapon completely.
Not at all. Elementalists has twice as many weapon skills as other professions with weapon swap. This is huge. And ele daggers work pretty well melee. It’s not important what weapon you carry or how animation looks. The effect of the skill is important.
Having 20 weapon skills available at a time instead of common 10 doesn’t mean you have a wide variety of weapons to choose, because you do not, there’s a huge difference between those two things.
It actually matters what weapon you carry, since the skills are tied to the weapon. Mainhand and offhand weapons are completely different, that should be quite obvious.
Dagger is not a melee weapon, it’s a PBAoE. Ele could get warhorn in the future specializations, but at the moment it needs another mainhand or twohanded weapon the most, so there’s wider diversity in the playstyle.
I think ele is in a very good spot today. Top notch in every game mode, this is 66% better than most classes and 100% better than necromancer.
I think you should write your concerns in profession specific forums so anet devs can read your feedback and make changes. I think your opinion is important but your posts can get lost between other. Try elementalist subforum.
Have a nice day my beloved fellow player.
You are right that the ele is top notch in every game mode, which is means ultimately nothing in the grand scheme of things. Ele is a class whose strength is PvP is almost entirely dependent on one single amulet, without that amulet they are almost replaceable. I mean any class in which players ask for “rotations” in PvP says a lot about that class in a game like this. Ele the class in which all builds revolve around water and arcane and celestial amulet. That sure is a fun class.
In the other game mode, its best weapon depends on the player staying in the same attunement for 90% of the fight.
Long story short, you’re talking about meta gaming. There is meta in every game involving character progression and customisation. I wouldn’t expect this to change.
To those asking if they’ll be streaming..
“Twitch booth in Hall 9”
“TWITCH BOOTH”
“TWITCH”
Understand now?
waht is twitch? I would like to know if they are going to stream on their site, I’m a big fan but I don’t want to install unwanted programs on my pc.
But wasnt this weekend opened up to ALL pre-purchasers?? Isnt that what it says in the anouncement?
It is. This weekend is officially the first “Beta Weekend”, so anybody who pre-purchased will be able to play the Revenant.
OP, I suggest rereading the announcement about this weekend. Perhaps you will be less upset knowing that a probable majority of future betas will be “Beta Weekends”? If they have a large enough sample size of people who pre-purchased, they can just constantly run the Betas by them; the people who are actually going to play the expansion rather than those who will not or are still undecided.
It’s a +1 beta weekend, made ad hoc from what I get from announcment. The first full beta weekend will be announced in the future
But wasnt this weekend opened up to ALL pre-purchasers?? Isnt that what it says in the anouncement?
wvw today stress test is invitation only
They are not giving us rewards. If someone gives you worthless things that is not reward. Its just salvage material that you dont need.
They should add real rewards, like gold. The joke is .. it isn’t even salvageable. Now the next step would be to let us type
in the name of those items if we want to destroy them
Don’t give them ideas.
@ Krzygum Well sort of. If a party can not progress because someone isn’t listening to advice then they get kicked. It’s not toxic. The person not working with the rest of the party to achieve a goal is more “toxic” at that point. As they are not engaging in community by talking and learning. So they get kicked.
I think every case is unique and we shouldn’t make general assumptions.
Todays fail is tomorrows win.
Learnng by doing is better for community and social experience than cold booded followin guides.Except you aren’t always playing with the same people. Everyday you do teq, unless you are In one of the guilds that do this (if you were you’d be required to know the tactics) you’ll be with different people.
So everyday you could get a newbie on turrets that is “learning by doing” and fail over and over.
I have this problem in fractals all the time. People don’t ask and so they die a lot. They either quite or end up getting kicked. Usually I will explain fights if someone is during a lot and half the time that is taken well. The other half the time people don’t listen or get upset that I was explaining what they should be doing. Then after a couple wipes I’ll kick those people and really don’t feel any guilt for doing so.
Such behaviour may lead only to expanding unintended toxicity amongst fellow tyrians. This is bad. What we should do as a community is to help each other. Remember, journey is the goal! In addition I would like to mention, if you allow me, that when opening lfg to publicity you have no control who will join you, so it was your joice to accept any possible outcome of playing with random group. Only acting like human beings we can build better community, better Tyria.
You have no data to prove how many ppl are still newbies or traditionally leveling and how many is using tomes.
Anyway, even if this new window was annoying only for minority, it improves nothing, so it is redundant.
I’m gld you have your own opinion, we need diversity, because diverity is good. But I’m still right with my arguments, but I’m not angry that you don’t agree with me. Have a nice day.
I have no data, nor does anyone else. But using general logic, players that have access to 60 ToK (w/ a +20 scroll which everyone has to have at this point) to level a toon up to 80 would be most likely a small minority. I don’t need data for that. I can also say with fair certainty that owners of, let’s say, Meteorlogicus are a small minority compared to those that don’t have it. I have no data, but it’s a fair assumption. Pointing out I don’t have data doesn’t really change that. It’s not like I’m throwing out concrete numbers here.
Coming to the forums to complain about being marginally inconvenienced for 2min while auto-leveling to 80 through tomes, to me, just seems trivial and honestly a bit whiney. That was my one and only point.
But diversity of opinions and thinking is what has advanced our society, so I’m not angry with you either, haha.
I agree with you. You can’t have the data how many ppl use tomes, so at the end you can’t make viable assumptions about how many members of our great community is being unintentionally annoyed by this change.
However arena net is a company full of professionals and I think they wanted to do a good thing with this change. I believe after reading our wonderful, civilized and absolutely fantastic feedback they will change this thing to be more responsive. I know they care and won’t fail me.
Personally I find it pretty sad that there are games worse than this. This is the first game where I’ve seen such a large amount of people trying to force people to play the way they want instead of just taking a live and let live mentality.
If you are referring dungeon LFGs remember that those who join parties when not matching requested requirements are at fault. It works both for PHIW and Meta players.
I think ninjitsu is bad because ninjas were bad ppl killing others. Making whole spec around killing others is bad, because people are good and shouldn’t kill anyone. No matter in game or in real life.
Um….what?
How do you play this game then? You know that something around 90% of the game involves “killing” things, right?
It’s not killing and you can notice this in pvp. People get “defeated” not dead. In GW1 players were killed so we got resurrection skills. Have you noticed there is no resurrection in this game? This is because we are not killing in this game, only defeating our opponents. Like batman. this is awesome and I feel better person finally playing a game where killing is not a goal. I also play healers and tanks because as a good person I should not kill anybody, no matter if this is real life or a game. I am a doctor in real life so playing healer is natural choice for me in a game.
This is why I like the change from rifle, which is an instrument of war, to staff for a thief. This weapon looks less harmful and I feel secure I won’t harm anybody with it but only disarm and defeat, but not kill.
I don’t mean to critisize how you enjoy the game, but the huge spike I drive through the hearts of the people I down says that I have killed them. Also the fact that I stab them with knives, swords, cut them with axes, burn them with fire, explode them with bombs, grenades and mortar rounds, and shoot them with pistols and rifles. None of those things are anywhere close to non-lethal.
Also, I wasn’t just talking about PvP. The stuff you kill in the open world and dungeons is most definately dead, it doesn’t even go into a downed state.
It’s like playing paintball. You are shooting but bullets are with pain only. The same goes with fighting in gw2. You swing weapons but not hitting really, at the end wins the one who makes his opponent exhausted to defeat.
Some mobs have downed state and some mobs don’t, it doesn’t mean they are dead. They respawn in the same spots after some time, just like respawns in pvp.

I have been waiting g for necro axe to become atleast viable for 3 years. As of the last update patch, it was nerfed even more.
I think these type suggestions best fit necro subforums. Anet will read them and consider your opinion. You are their customer, they care about you. However in general discussion good feedback can get lost between other posts. This is why you should post all the feedback you have prepared in profession subforum. I hope you will find necro axe cool weapon one day.

I said it once, but ill say it again, these problems aren’t personal views, because even the P/P thief problem is kind of trivial to me, since I often don’t switch to ranged weapons on my thief. I have heard these problems in abundance in forums and in-game. Perhaps people might not have these problems in-game though, because I’ve been out of town and unable to log on.These problems don’t affect me at all honestly, I just thought at others were complaining about them, but perhaps I’m wrong.
Things you listed are profession centred so as I said before, this should be posted in proper profession specific forums.
Anet is never ignoring problems. They are professionals and they are working on a schedule. Game breaking fixes are highest priority and those will be fixed first. The changes introduced with june 23rd patch is a well thought bussiness decision, prepared for a long time. They changed some things about game mechanics with trait merging and rebalancing and this is for us players to discover new solutions with current system. It’s like discovering the game as a new player. I love this!
Oh really? Then tell me why it’s two years since they said they would fixed necro minion ai, and it still is bugged exactly the same as then. Pretty sure when your entire skill bar stands 600 feet from you and never attacks, it’s gamebreaking.
There are MANY bugs from release that are still in the game, and have simply NEVER been fixed. I wish I had open ended deadlines for extremely important things in my line of work, but I don’t have that luxury, I have polished products to market.
I don’t know, maybe those things you consider bugs are not bugs? If there are real problems I’m sure it’s on their list. Those are professional, educated employees, they know what they are doing.
So it’s not a bug that the AI is genuinely broken and has been for years, with Anet comments on it. Got it. You are blinded by your fandom.
I don’t know if it’s broken. I’m only a player. I think Anet knows behind the scene things better than players and I trust them. They never failed. If anything is broken (and for me the game works perfectly fine) this must be on their list. We don’t know what priority is to fix those problems but they will never be ignored.
Again with this discussion about the weapon. I really don’t see the point. In the end, how much does it really matter whether the thief gets staff or rifle, whether the elementalist gets sword or warhorn, wether the warrior gets scepter or focus? What matters are the weapon skills, traits, utility skills and changed/added profession mechanics. The weapon is just aesthetics in the end.
I agree with you, this is very intelligent response. If some people are upset because they don’t know to expect for their beloved professions I think Anet should release some info next week. A spec maybe? That would be cool. And classy.
Yeah, that was a great idea. Rework the specs into something some people will mostly hate and delay all information released because of it. Brilliant.
Corrected that for you. You do not speak for everyone.
I want to get more elite spec info as much as anyone else, but there is still a lot of work to do yet, and many things will be in flux. They will reveal them when they can, we just need to have patience.
If you rush them it will only end in tears.
No, I don’t, but seeing as many and many people hate the idea of ele getting a warhorn, which seems to be more than the ones who would actually like the idea, I made this bold statement.
Few ppl on forums is not even 1% of a community. Perspective is important. And warhorn fits tempest. Angry ppl are more likely to post on forums because they want to complain. Happy players are playing the game because they are happy with the game. So this is important to observe what ppl like and develop more content focused on those playing, not complaining.
No, it fits tempest in your opinion. I don’t think it does and consider it the worst weapon choice they could ever implement.
While forums do not hold the opinion of the whole ele community, it’s a sample of people who play the profession, which is imo good enough to base the assumption on. However, it’s not only forums who hate the idea of warhorn.
Love the argument that all the happy people are playing the game and not complaing, which is based only on your assumption, nothing else.
So we have a middle ground of “it’s my assumption vs your assumption” and they are both, if you allow me, worthless. It is good to voice customers’ opinion however we know nothing about other players so we can speak only about our thoughts. But don’t worry, it’s good to have different opinions, I’m not angry with you. I know I am right, but it’s nice to discuss things in civilised manner here.
Anet has the data. They will know if people will use warhorn or not, so at the end we won’t get warhorn with next spec if it won’t be likeable with this one.
that would require new animations (as far as melee staff is concerned ) new mechanics
lots of workFor a 50 dollar expansion I expect nothing less.
I think it’s not my quote

Feedback is always welcome. The best thing is to write your ideas in profession subforums so every case will be considered separately. It is also easier for devs to track your ideas about professions if you put the to more specific forums.
Aha I see, though I find it kind hard that thief gets staff, that would require new animations (as far as melee staff is concerned ) new mechanics lots of work, rifle on the other hand is more simple and other classes use it as well.
We are already getting melee staff animations with revenant so I think there is virtually no problem to apply them to thieves.
Yeah, that was a great idea. Rework the specs into something some people will mostly hate and delay all information released because of it. Brilliant.

Is it confirmed that thief gets staff haven’t read any of the posts above so i don’t really know the sources of the ones that say this.
thief getting staff is as much confirmed as ele getting warhorn – datamined picture
I think ninjitsu is bad because ninjas were bad ppl killing others. Making whole spec around killing others is bad, because people are good and shouldn’t kill anyone. No matter in game or in real life.

They should stablish a pattern. It’s weird when they reveal 3 specs then shut down all of a sudden, no matter what they show in the meantime.
My guess is that they have made some big changes to some of the specs (thus the ele sword->warhorn and thief rifle->melee staff recent change, that can be assumed from datamining), and as an effect had to delay their info on them. So, we’re not getting next specializations informations because those specs are simply not ready yet.
Yeah, that was a great idea. Rework the specs into something people will mostly hate and delay all information released because of it. Brilliant.
Why do you tell me I hate any change they made? I think warhorn is great and fits ele spec, and also staff thief is just like pandarian monks from wow, this is great idea and it’s awesome gw2 is finally going this way to make monks of shaolin playable.
I don’t mind waiting longer for news. If decided to makje change it is only for the better. Look at lat trait patch 2 weeks ago. Everything was improved and I’m happy with their changes. If we wait more for HoT it will be the best quality product on the market and we will love this. I can wait a few weeks longer for more news.
That’s harsh. Every player is a human being and deserves respect. Punishment should be a lesson, not a stigma. Stay classy.
A player like that doesn’t deserve respect but that’s my opinion and therefore it doesn’t matter. Anet is classy enough, lol.
Every people deserves respect. -snip-.
Nice sentiment. Too bad you cant take your own advice judging from all your trolling in this thread….a post made by someone that already feels bad enough :/
Thanks for the quote. Now I see I should have typed “every person” not “every people” sorry for my mistake and thank you for poiting this out.
To the person collecting money for OP. How much have you gathered already? How is our great community responding? I will send you a lot of gold once I get home and log in into the game.
This instance is soloable but this is also a great challenge. It is good that people looking for hard content can experience difficult encounters in GW2. Mystery cave is one of the hardest things in this game. I am happy I can participate in this and GW2 is offering everyone a bit of entertainment in every mode.
Every people deserves respect. If you want to harass him for his potential “crime” this is lynch law. Players don’t have evidence of what happened and only anet can solve this They are professionals and never make mistakes.
And that is exactly why I said my opinion doesn’t matter. Because I’m not Anet staff. But I have the right to share my honest opinion and that’s what I did. I don’t care if I’m harsh or rude, that is my opinion and no one can change it. I don’t really understand your problem…
Being nice improves community. If you want to behave rude you are hurting our community and rude behaviour may lead to reports and a suspension. Remember this and stay classy. Better us, better game. We have to act responsible. We are parts of the best game and the best community i nthe world

Personal Story is told in-game. What is the point of releasing game’s main story in a book?
LS1 is probably going to be redone to the LS2 format, however this will happen after HoT. When? They didn’t say. Meanwhile http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Living_World_season_1 there is enough to keep up with the story.
OMG I’ll be there! Gw2 is the best and I love anre net ! I will see you live!
How about if everyone here donates 10 to 50 silver to OP? I’ll serve as middle man, to ensure he doesn’t run off with your donations…
That’s great idea! Community members should help each other to get better and have fun together. About your idea, I think you will be collecting cash and will keep it safe in the vault so you won’t get robbed. And after we collected enough, we can send it to the OP and make a post here with screenshot of our celebration. OMG there is no game like this and no community like gw2 community.!
Pls take me with you, I want to participate in helping OP getting back his money.
That’s awfully nice of you and i even believe it since you just wrote this in the other thread about the community being nice.
“Not really. Success driven communty heads towards elitism. Time spent together on playing is much more valuble than virtual currency or any other reward.
THis is why GW2 is great. It has only skilled players but winning is not the goal. Fun always wins.”
Thank you! I hope everyone appreciates our efforts to make world of Tyria better
I think ninjitsu is bad because ninjas were bad ppl killing others. Making whole spec around killing others is bad, because people are good and shouldn’t kill anyone. No matter in game or in real life.
I think thief spec should be shaolin monk style, all about ascesy and meditation so he can work for compensation for crimes he commited as a thief. Wow that would be so immersive.
How about if everyone here donates 10 to 50 silver to OP? I’ll serve as middle man, to ensure he doesn’t run off with your donations…

My general idea is: there is nothing being shown because there is nothing to show.
Same, but hopefully they’re working on showing us something they’re working on in the future. At least, that’s my hope. Otherwise, get your fire resistant suits ready.
The forums will go up in flames.
They will just close it for a day or two like they did after Preorder marketing fiasco.
Only they didn’t close the Forums. The Forums were just so slow that many couldn’t access it. I think some Idiot was mad/childish enough to launch a DDOS attack on this Forums because someone in the Marketing kittened up.
Somehow I don’t believe this. We know today they need forums to keep endgame alive, so ppl can comment on great changes we are getting these days and how much we appreciate the game. This is good, this game deserves our “thank you” every day. I love this game. And to the OP, we don’t really need more info about HoT when we’re having such a good time playing our characters in Tyria. There is so much to explore in this game that I don’t think I am able to consume all the content before HoT.
Remember
“Journey is the goal” Mike O’Brien said January 26th.
Community is great, avoid elitists who only think of rewards. You don’t have to be the best to have a good fun.
Not really. Success driven communty heads towards elitism. Time spent together on playing is much more valuble than virtual currency or any other reward.
THis is why GW2 is great. It has only skilled players but winning is not the goal. Fun always wins.
Todays fail is tomorrows win.
Learnng by doing is better for community and social experience than cold booded followin guides.
But noone should blame anyone for not reading/asking for guides. Learn by doing.
Yeah…sure really friendly in pve i haven’t seen a worse rage or flaming than, when some events fail, like people’s lives depend on a bag or a yellow item, in pve because it’s first time people do them, instead of someone being helpful to them. Guild wars 2 community sucks just like every other multiplayer game the only thing you can do is disable map chat and block whenere someone whispers you.
It’s generally a good idea to inform yourself before doing something (not just in game but in everything). If someone is doing something for the first time, they should read up on it, ask in their guild, ask in their party, ask in map chat. If they don’t and then mess it up… Who was the sucky part of the community? The person who had not enough respect for others to get an idea of what to do or the others who all failed an event because of this?
People should help each other, we are not robots. Google is the tool, we are human beings. This game deserves the best community and it has the best community. We are all a family. You shouldn’t treat this game like a job.
Guild Wars 2 is the best game. People are friendly, they even give you free gold randomly when you travel through game. Especially Lion’s Arch. Players in GW2 are also very skilled individuals always happy to help and improve your personal experience. Story is awesome, Living Story evewn better, expansion worth of content.
Went back and had a look at the OP’s posting history, and he comes across as a nice guy who is obviously intelligent to put together an argument, with the first part of this post having merit, whilst the rest, well enough about that, others have already commented eloquently enough.
However four months ago he posted this- https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Blocked-but-Still-Causing-Offence
I am afraid that post didnt have any legs then, and he felt he needed to re-post an enhanced version. Now the OP in previous posts says he is a long term player, and mature in years (like myself), so presumably knows, the complaints procedure inside out, cover to cover. If the devs havnt seen it appropriate to action the so called perpetrators, then something is going amiss, either A:- with the the devs response/complaints procedure, or B:- with the claims made by the OP!
I have full faith in Anet. This company is the best in the world and I think they took his case seriously and they found no evidence of harassment. They are trustworthy people and they never make mistakes.
