Mark me down as someone that wants them gone as well. I’ll never raid and I have absolutely no desire to watch “pro sports” of any computer game. Constantly getting bombarded with messages about this nonsense is really getting annoying.
My thief just hit 80 a few days ago too. I crafted her a full exotic set of berserker armor and added Scholar Runes or whatever to them. I’m doing about 1000% more damage than I did leveling up now and I die if you sneeze in my general direction! The jump from dagger/dagger to staff/daredevil was pretty huge and fun. I was much more able to handle multiple targets at a time, but switching from random gear to berserker just hurts too much right now. I do think it’s one of the more fun classes to play so far though.
Have confidence! You pay 100 and you succeed!
I’m 98.3% sure that it’s a one time pay to open the ability and you don’t pay again unless you want to switch to the other Hall no matter how many times you might fail.
So don’t buy it and let ANet know that you didn’t buy it because it’s forced in a bundle. Or buy it and complain and nothing will change.
soon, there will be advertisment: “Scriber for Hire” 50g per decoration item crafted (excluding mats cost).. lol
Someone guy on Reddit had completed Scribing on his own and was willing to make things for people for just material cost.
Sorry, did you want for 9 other players to work harder and carry you, while you just leech the rewards?
Oh that sounds lovely! Where do I sign up for that raid?
Timegates for a small lorebook studyguide that’s only reward is a mini and a couple AP? Sorry but that’s a bit ridiculous.
Only reward? Isn’t this a required piece for a Legendary Weapon as your title says?
I wouldn’t worry anyway, it sounds like your next step of talking to Ogden is bugged anyway
The problem I’m having is that all of my XP across three characters is about to be eternally wasted because I don’t have enough Tyria Mastery points and all my possible training is filled. The only remaining Mastery points I can get all are behind world boss events or dungeons. Kind of disappointing. I did just pick up the living story season 2 since that had 8 points (well, 16 if I want to spend the rest of my days trying to play them in specific ways), but that’s slow going and pretty difficult solo.
The worst part of this is I’ve filled my xp bars with just random casual playing. Haven’t farmed XP or anything, just running around doing map completion or whatever.
You could have done that with a free slot on your old account and kept access to older content. I don’t follow your logic, but hope you have fun with your new revenant! I still need to try that.
I also paid $100 for the Ultimate. So did my husband and both our boys (ages 28 and 30) and none of us are regretting the purchase.
That’s pretty awesome your whole family plays together!
The family that slays together stays together! or “plays together” I guess…
I wouldn’t join a guild blindly really, more play in some pick up groups or just with people you run across in game and see if you find some you click with. Chances are they’ll be in a guild already and be able to involve you in some of their activities to see if you like the rest of them. Find people you’re comfortable with, then join.
Or just whisper whoever is spamming their guilds in whatever zone you’re in. Often times they can be a good starting point too and more active.
I’m in a pretty similar situation. Played a lot when the game came out years ago but quit for some time. Came back and had enough birthday/booster things that I now have 3x 80s in a few weeks time and had enough mats available from way back when that I was able to make two sets of exotic armor with limited gold cost. Luckily for me my guild all started playing again with HoT instead of quitting though. All I’ve mostly been doing though is map completion to level my other alts to 80 and a few hours on the weekends in HoT lands wondering why I’m spending a few hours on the weekends in HoT lands.
I spent far too long looking at that picture trying to find the bug…
Join a guild and play with others.
Or take your new 80 and finish map completion for all of Tyria.
Or pick another class and get to 80 again.. and again.. and again.
But really, it sounds like you’re playing alone. Join those friends who said the game starts at 80 and have them show you what they meant.
They are 20% off the gem price currently, kinda like getting one episode for free!
It’s really up to you if that little bit of extra boon duration (and slightly different other stats) is worth all that flax seed over a Soldier’s Emblazoned Coat I guess?
My guess is that it’s not worth your time and stress.
Same here. Got a bunch of town clothes things that are account bound but already in my wardrobe.

No one said raids, new items and rest of the kitten,is going to be late for month after HoT release.
I didn’t start playing GW2 again until after the HoT release and even I knew that the Raid part of HoT was coming after a month or so.
Please look at wow expansions.(comparing wow because that’s only mmo i played besides GW2) They get 7-8 new zones every expansion,2-3 raids,5 dungeons, tons of new armors, and all that at same time, with expansion release.
If you’d like to pay for Guild Wars 2 the game, then have to pay for Guild Wars 2 every month in order to be able to play, then pay again for Guild Wars 2 Expansions every few months, then sure, you absolutely can get a WoW-like expansion for Guild Wars 2.
However, if you’re going to pay for GW2 once three years ago, then again three years later, you can’t expect the same amount of content for your $90 compared to the $630 a WoW player has paid during the same time.
Also, WoW had upwards of 10 million subscribers while GW2 has a few hundred thousand. You cannot compare the two games. GW2 is pretty amazing for the features and content you get for free.
Has the 64bit client helped you avoid these disconnects at all Tekoria? How about reloging before joining to push off any memory leak issues if you’d been playing for a while before starting the event?
Sounds like bad open world design. Perfect for a guild event, but not something random people would be involved in.
It’s a reward for an Achievement if that’s what you mean. Either do that story part or buy one off the TP from someone else that did.
Reddit was saying the exact opposite …
Still looks good either way.
We’re gonna need a screenshot to see what he’s talking about. I’ve seen some rapid fire conversations happen in Map Chat and never been suppressed myself. I’m guessing his “massive coordination” is real similar to spamming maybe?
Absolutely no regrets about purchasing it.
There’s a new 64bit client that’s out that might help depending on your system.
6, waiting on my 7th till I get enough Tomes of Knowledge to jump to lvl 80 with my eventual rev. 80 guardian, 57 mesmer, 38 ranger, 35 necro, 30 thief, 15 warrior.
I got two mastery skills trained last night just running around in a lvl 40 zone doing hearts and getting map completion. I realize not everyone won’t have finished that years ago, but it was a lot more fun than the hour or two I spent in CoF being bored and I got a lot more out of it.
There’s a dev post on the front page of this very forum which talks about this issue, just 15 posts below this one.
It’s a known issue, they are working on fixing it and you’ll get whatever rewards you’re missing when it’s fixed.
Guild hall item needed not dropable anymore

So is the problem that these don’t drop at all anywhere or that they only drop from Centaurs in PvE and not WvW anymore?
Only the Deluxe and Ultimate came with a slot if you missed the pre-order veteran extra slot time frame. So a normal purchase of Standard without getting your key registered in time results in no extra slots as I understand it.
Gem store purchased gems are instant. The HoT Ultimate version stuff took almost three full days for me.
Prices are set by players – of course it’s overpriced. Players are the Personification of Greed.
I’ve never intentionally tried to enter any meta event. I’ve especially never tried to get a specific type of loot from any kind of event. In just casually playing over the weekend I ended up with two pieces of Bladed Armor. I also had a ton of fun the whole time since I wasn’t disappointed at not getting anything specific. Quite the opposite, I apparently got two pieces of kitten armor! Every bag was something new, not something I didn’t get.
DoctorDing helped me with my mental tag problem. Every zone I went into my mentor tag kept popping on and everyone in the zone would stop following commander tags and followed me instead! This was very inconvenient because I was shopping for Crude Salvage Kits from Karma vendors and couldn’t see them to click on them to shop because of the throngs of mindless players who followed my apple like I would lead them to the promised land.
Luckily I could just pay DoctorDing 250g every time I zoned somewhere and accidentally turned my mentor tag on and he would kindly, calmly and lovingly explain how to turn it off with just the right mix of professionalism and creepy uncle shoulder holding I needed.
Thanks DoctorDing!
Concentrate on leading if you’re a leader and don’t worry about what others have over their heads. Most of these threads are just complaints that someone isn’t a 300g special snowflake anymore. If you’re a more effective leader, people will follow your tag. If they are following some random mentor and not you, that’s not a mentor tag problem.
However if you are just jealous someone else stands out after you spend 100-300g, that too isn’t a mentor tab problem.
Restricting it is a bad idea since there’s tons of new and complicated content in the lvl 80 zones and a lot of lvl 80s are returning players who might as well be newbies after all the changes since they last played.
So play how you want and don’t let others get you down! You and your obscene amount of gold are still super special don’t you worry.
It does scale, every 10 people spawns an additional maw at once, so 9 or less people = 1 spawn at a time, 10-19 = 2 spawns at a time and so on.
The boss scales as well. Less than 20 people = 1 boss at a time.
If you’re unable to do it with 5 people, ask in /map chat for some help.
Seems to be fixed for me now. So a small hiccup in an otherwise great launch. Hope others can log in as well.
I thought so too, but no luck. I was able to log in an alt, thinking the problem was fixed I switched to my main and now I can’t log in with any of them again.
Can we please get this fixed or at least acknowledge that there’s a problem and that someone is working on it?
Same here, can’t load maps but I’m seen in game as being online and forums are infuriatingly slow.
Thanks for the cool stats! I’d be interested in Jaxom’s question too. Our guild failed twice on Gilded Hallow and succeeded on the third try after a lot of study, hints and just playing smarter. Things that really worked for us was finding the areas where you can get out of the water back to the main level. Starting your forces in the middle of the map and clearing it a bit first, before even starting the event, to reduce dragged adds and just being totally focused on the high threat adds, then the tenders and finally the maw then immediately returning to center to be ready for the next spawn. Also, if you die, immediately waypoint out, there’s no time to rez people.
Now, unfortunately I got obliterated for the Vinewrath so spent the entire battle running back only to get faceplanted upon return and have no idea how we did that part!
Filling the XP bar allows you to spend Mastery Points to train that ability. Once it’s trained then you can start getting XP for the next level and so on. Once you learn Updraft you can spend the Mastery Points training it. That then allows you to start earning XP for the next level in that path.
So you gather Mastery Points however you do from achievements and POIs and the like, then you earn XP which allows you to spend those points.
If you’re 18 and this is your first character, you should just focus on enjoying the game instead of worrying about hero points honestly.
And here I thought the Casuals were only 1 %

I’m super happy with the change. I’d only had enough points to just barely get my Dragonhunter elite spec and almost no skills in it. Now I have Dragonhunter and 30% of its skills to play with. This change helped a lot in enjoying the class more without having to grind away at skill points for me.
One main guild and another smaller guild of some RL friends just to stay in contact. It’s awesome that we have this option that’s missing in many other games.
We just did GH with 9 people last night, our third attempt. Once you have better strategy it’s quite doable. We actually cleared out the main section of the map before even starting the event then had our guild leader start the map while the rest of us were already in position. Ironically we got the spawn right at the entrance!
But with 9 people (vs 7-8 from our previous attempts) and much more focus on killing the dangerous adds at each site first then focus fire on the vinetenders in a row we did it easily with 30 seconds or so left after each maw and no failures.
Unfortunately I have no idea how the vinewrath battle went since I died early on and died again upon returning to the battle so spent the whole time running and swimming!
Water has no mobs in it so prefer to use that to get around the island instead. Learn where the entries from the water on and you’ll have a lot more ease moving about.
8 people with average gear are going to have a very difficult time of things.
GW2: … frolicking …
HoT: …full heavy ptv gear … upscale some of them to champs to get bags and spawn extra to tag them for more exp for masteries. … zerg to the next event…
it’s not a “get good” issue, the entire pacing of the game was changed.
Actually it sounds like how some play the game has changed. Instead of enjoying the game if one is entirely focused on loot and xp and maximizing the amount of both they will surely have a bad time regardless of how insanely murderous the monsters of HoT are.
To everyone who is having trouble just roaming the world:
PLAY A MORE DEFENSIVE BUILD
This is truth. I’ve had to learn more about how to play my character than I ever had to in a year playing in the old world. It just didn’t matter, run in, spin around kill things. Now I have to understand how my gear and character works, how bad guys work and how I can best work with my friend’s classes. It’s been awesome so far even though I die more than ever!
Tyria Mastery Point need more way to earn it

I have 9, woo! Guess I should work on my storylines finally.
One doesn’t need to do research to know that a group will be required to get a meeting hall for a GUILD OF PLAYERS in a MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game. This isn’t “player housing”, it’s a place for a group of people in a guild to gather. Of course a group will be needed, it’s group content.
There is plenty for the single player to do in GW2, but changing the dynamic for Guild Hall claiming because some people want the hall but not the guild isn’t really something Arenanet should concentrate on in my opinion.
