Burn me for this but I think engineer is fine when someone fix those annoying bugs. Removal of RNG on elixir can be helpfull too
wvw is where engineer have a chance to shine. aoe spam you know. we are even nerfed for that because anet thinks we are too powerfull
the build given in this thread
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/Five-Gauge-s-100nade-Guide/first#post1305263
is one of the most successfull builds for engineer and its the highest burst build we know atm.
wvw, fractals, dungeons
people those saying wvw engineer is weak are borderline insane. Please tell me another class that can spam sustained aoe damage as good as an engi. Also there are lots of tools to stay alive in a crowded battlefield. A good engi is one of the last ones to die if there is a big fight. wvw is about numbers and aoe, so engineer is very solid. Dont get me started on loads of AoE CCwhich are crucial in wvw.
If you compare these qualities with a theif it is more like a joke. Thief are not even worth mentioning in wvw, they just hit and run stealth accomplishing nothing useful.
Engineer problems are annoying bugs and turrets need a love.
100nades build can be usefull even too powerfull in small scale fights but, if numbers increase beyond 4 like it is in wvw, your dodges will not save you
Í had a healing build that can take a lot of damage. Built for wvw turtles specifically but great in pve too. I left it because I do not like to stay stationary for so long.

combining this with full cleric set you have a good amount of healing.
regen with healing turret
periodic water fields
2 super elixir with kit refinement
bomb heals when needed
You can reach 1000heal/s aoe. Great for support and survival but too stationary to get all heals at the same time.
Inventions is good only if you are aiming for a pure tank build. Other than that it do not have usefull traits like alchemy or tools.
FT is always more fun than using grenades. Think that game is not always about having better damage, stats etc. I am mostly grenade user too but I love FT more than any kit.
I also made lots of experiement on full exo healing builds. Lots of calculations about heal amounts etc. In the end I abandoned it because investing that much on healing stat do not give you enough protection, I would rather put it on vitality, toughness which scales a lot better if you wanna tank. Healing build may only work if you are fighting in crowded lag free wvw battles because its based on aoe heals a lot. Still you will fall faster than a soldier build engi but you can feel better because you will help your friends more.
I was surprised because of such change. Still do not understand why we needed it. Those people who could not handle orr maps were not supposed to be there anyways. Its the land of dead, what do you expect; zombies throwing you flowers? This new change simply feels not right.
How can a glass cannon build without reliable protection or stability can be OP. Also, the build skills should be used with good experience to be effective. It still requires loads of dedication and hard work.
I have not laugh this much recently. Great video, thanks so much
I admire your dedication to be a no-kit engineer but an engineer without kit does not feel right. Kits are very important to most of us
we got what we wanted most. I can not understand people those still not happy about it. For the first time we get buffs fixes without getting a nerf. What would you expect, a full bug fix to all our problems. Thats not going to happen on one patch. This one at least shows that Anet still knows there is a engineer profession out there. They are on the right track now.
my kits will get stats, thats good enough for me, the best part is we do not have any noticable nerf, no nerf to any good builds.
That is most of us wanted but did not expected. I will thank Anet for this. We have been waiting kit stats since august.
It seems that we have accepted our fate of being miserable bugy profession. At least this time we know its coming, no rage threads will be required.
Did anyone use this build with health stealing omnomberry pies. That can help a bit about survivability
it will be 100nades, they are planning to nerf aoe anyways.
it has been suggested before, I want to mention it because most people wanted something like that
An elite to repair siege weapons
asura without a doubt. we are the future of tyria
I was trying different builds based on 100nade build concept. I realized tool trait does not reduce any toolbelt skill recharge rate. Is this a new bug, I did not see it in bug compilation thread. I remember this working just a few days ago
The actual bug list says toolbelt recharge rate do not for minefield. What I see right now is toolbelt recharge rate do not work at all for anything. I tried both pve and pvp build. It does not reduce recharge rate of any toolbelt skill. I remember it was working recently
I am only engineer so my concern goes for it
Q. Will engineer get kit stats and long waited bug fixes documented in the forum as a mega long list.
They will probably nerf our good builds to make useless builds viable, this what they have been doing in other updates.
Ironically the only way to protest is abandoning engineer and start playing another class.
However doing a massive hit on this require most engineers agree on that and having them read forums which most do not care at all.
People want to protest for grenades because last patch was the last nail on engineer coffin. engineers care about all other bugs but greandes were hold dear because they was working as intended in contrast to other mechanics we have.
This Fix was coming and I knew that, I enjoyed it till it hit me. But as Kuruptz said making this priority bug is interesting. It gives a clue of Anet attitude on engineers. They possibly think that we do not have serious bugs to be fixed and we do not deserve any type of balance against other classes.
This is a very interesting work you have done there. We are aware that sigils open a doorway to new possibilities, new and creative builds, however this can not be the reasoning behind nerfing damage of the most viable engineer build. We are already lacking behind the other classes and this is a fact accepted by the community. If you do not believe check the active engineers in your guild and cry when you see that you are the only one left.
We supposed to have sigils from the beginning as others had. Anet serves best to the other classes which have much more players. Ironically, they are the reason we lost so many people in the first place.
I strongly believe we will get another major nerf when kits get stats, we are lacking 450 stats afterall.
Thanks very much for the answer, there is light on the end of tunnel. I hope I can get away from such conversations;
guildie: which sigil are you using
engineer: I don’t use weapon
guildie: WHY!
engineer: I am engineer
guildie: ah, sorry
Please tell me when areanet fixed this. of course it does’nt matter if this friend will use ft only. I know kits are meant to be used with main weapons. But if someone is using kits a lot more than weapons, whats the point of getting a sigil.
I suggest you do not think about sigils if you wanna use FT (juggernaut trait is for FT only)
Otherwise, earth is better
The rune of divinity would be ideal if you have decent precision. You can have a nice crit rate adding with fury that you can get either from elixirB or med kit#4
You throw 3 grenades which have 3 seperate crit chance. This means you have can crit a lot more than crit rate implies. Additional crit damage fits on grenade set prefectly.
The only downside is being very expensive.
We have lots of annoying bugs, not balance issues.
I would chose a thief or warior if it was all about dps
I agree to yukishiro about EG, its skill are very usefull if you know when to use. if its not dealing good damage that does not mean its bad, in terms of usability I like it more than grenades. Other mentiones “bad” skills are more usefull than you can imagine and if you can not find a way to use them I suggest you change your class or playstyle.
Why the hate on grenades. They are decent and its fun to use them.
However I agree that broken mechanics do not let us to explore other styles of engineer.
In wvw engineers are one of the most welcomed class, we are usefull and rare.
1v1 is joke like you have said but we can get away from it quite easily
If anyone want ot be op in small scale pvp why does he play engineer anyway.
I like the vitality buffer more than the actual armor-toughness. Toughness effectiveness varies depending the damage on you and the actual amount of armor. You add toughness on the amount of defence and most of the time toughness is much smaller than defence. Damage migitation of armor diminish with the increasing amount of armor so more toughness means a waste for me. I just try to keep a decent toughness with high hp buffer, so additional healing will be more beneficial for vit than thoughness.
I never had any problem with it. Its actually good for me because I have to use a lot of keys already as an engineer
I didn’t get it yet but I am working on a prec, healing, vitality stat set which is sold by karma vendors of orr.
may be in the expansion they will remember us.
we do not want to be all powerfull unbalanced op class. most of us only want our long missed 450 stats and sigils which other classes were enjoying for 3 months. This is not a buff its a fix and the important part is anet acknowledged it, however they are not that willing about it.
Engineers are punished for using their class mechanic kits with -450 stats and no sigils, and we suffer from this since the start. I hate nerfs for anyone but now you can understand our problems better.
I think some engineer killed this Orion guy and humiliated him then he comes here trolling our class.
what are you talking about orion. Which game are you playing
Anet do not like this kind of demanding posts. You are bound to be heavily moderated. You are a brave engineer my friend.
I can not find words to express my rage and not brave enough.
Why does anet still insist on nerfing engineers. What have we done to them.
the feelings I have about the update can get me banned right now.
divinity is the ideal rune for grenades which crit a lot more than any other attack type
However I personally use emerald orbs for extra stats (engi has -450 stat compared to any other profession)
I was using bombs as main weapons during low lvl. Bombs were the faster way to kill stuff when you dont have traits to back you up
Dynamic Dungeons
I asked myself what would be a defination of dynamic pve. It should change overtime, should have a sense of surprise, should be challenging each time and most importantly, it should be fun to do it again.
AI can meet these requirements a little, then you start getting bored.
Here is my suggestion for solving the "boredom"problem for dungeons.
Dungeon instances should effect eachother.
Example
CoF Dungeon 1
5 man party progressing through the dungeon. They start killing mobs. Mobs die in a random order, or in a certain order which will be much easier for the party. They effect another CoF Dungeon
CoF Dungeon 2
When dungeon1 crew kill a certain mob, dungeon2 will get the same mob with a different skill set. when party kill it, it will effect the skill set of the same mob on dungeon3.
the behaviours of mobs will not be known beforehand. they will have a rotation of skill sets and new skill set will be chosen according to the killing blow skill of party in the other dungeon.
Dungeons will be harder to finish but it will be fun to play it. Players will be able to effect eachtothers experience but will not be able to annoy them. This will no longer be actual pve but something between pve and pvp.
I know implementing something like this is a lot of work but I just wanted to voice out my thoughs on pve experiences.
there are still ways to beat it
