We do not deserve his grace, and all it cost most of us was the best character in the entire game, Tybalt I will never forget you my dearest friend, I weep every day that we are no longer together but since I didn't see you die and I don't give a single butt about what the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan says it means you're still alive but like, even if you're not then you will always live on in my heart and in the shrine I made to you in my closet.
I rezzed Tybalt through the gate. Whyyyyy do they keep telling me he’s dead
First they took his balls away, then they remove his last remaining memory. Poor lion :’(
Fun is subjective. I find Orr to be fun.
Well there’s always one or two masochists in every crowd.
You’re in Orr, Zhaitan’s home, do you think he is just gonna let you run around and do what you want without making it annoying for you?
Games are supposed to be fun. This…is just annoying (aka lame, not fun, something to avoid, won’t make devs money).
Ppl complain the monthly achievements too stale. Now they change it every month and ppl still complaining. Faceplam
I facepalm for seeing txtspeak and misspelled emotes, while claiming large numbers of people complained about something that nobody has ever posted. Wait there while I add you to my ingame der—plist
@lollie
You’re speaking of people who actually tried dungeons, but didn’t like them.
No I’m not. What’s with you trying to tell people what they really mean?
I’m talking about people who don’t do content, because they don’t want to do that content. People don’t all enjoy the same things. It’s quite simple – if you try really really really hard I bet even you could understand.
Well what they don’t seem to get is we don’t do that content, because we don’t want to do that content.
Wrong
Majority would even like to try out dungeons, but they’re afraid
What do you mean “wrong” – it’s clear you’re not one of the ones that doesn’t do the content, why are you even thinking you can speak for us? Most people don’t do content they’re not interested in, plain and simple. It isn’t “we’re afraid” – it’s “we don’t want to do it”. Jeez, what a kitten.
The design philosophy of the monthly appears to be specifically to encourage you to move outside of your comfort zone by experiencing content that you wouldn’t do normally.
Well what they don’t seem to get is we don’t do that content, because we don’t want to do that content.
Heh, so now that’s two things I cba doing to complete a monthly.
Could this be another real level 80 zone? WOOT if so.
Hopefulley, it isn’t all undead again….
More underwater risen! runs off crying
What’s the downside to having it inspected by someone else?.
Someone stealing my clearly uber builds :P
It could be a brawling Costume.
Like plate smashing brawls. And a screech attack.
As far as I know it does.
Traits that affect phantasms down Illusion line cancel each other out, but de.r—-p up there does not know this from practising on his dummy.
On the phantasm, that’s the defender icon (ie NOT a trait boon) and on yourself, that’s NOT FROM THE PHANTASM TRAIT LINES I’M TALKING ABOUT. That’s the defender icon and the trait for yourself, not the trait that affects your phantasm. The phantasm trait lines cancel each other out. Try again and better this time.
Everyone knows those boon traits cancel each other out btw. You’re arguing pointlessly, because you’re straight up wrong.
Hey, how about you do that ON THE PHANTASM. Your video has none of those. Show me on the little doll where the big bad boon traits (retaliation/regeneration, and the other that your “bare bones” build does not have) touches you, I mean works all at once.
Do you even read what people write? The phantasm boon traits do not work, they cancel each other out. Some people…
Hello? The traits on the phantasms. You know, the ones that don’t work, the ones your little video vs a dummy don’t show. It’s becoming pretty clear you’ve never left the dummy to actually play a mesmer in real world.
That video only shows defender icon and signet of life icon btw, it does not show the traits working. Because they don’t work.
Everybody knows that except you apparently.
The traits I’m talking about don’t work.
Broken traits are broken.
The phantasm traits cancel each other out. Hilarious because they’re down the same trait line.
Any mesmer with the barebones of this http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgIQNAW86kwzSq3QPSY+QvPfI6oFA;TgAA1CtosxYjwGrYObk2A will be incredibly tanky. Defender reduces damage done by 50%, duelist grants regen every 3 seconds and because of your trait you will gain protection every time regen reapplies, and with every illusion out, the overall damage you take is reduced by 3% each. Because of persisting image and signet of life, the phantasms can take a few beatings before going down.
Defender dies quickly, signet of life is pretty much a fail and waste of a slot, and the traits don’t actually work.
“oh it’s from THAT guy” …trash
Once you get to the rock, they drop aggro anyways…Not sure what you think the problem with that is?
The problem there is you’re forced to exploit terrain/AI (reaching a point in area so mobs leash) so you can get to an area you are able to actually play in.
Heh, sounds like he was having a bad day and looking for someone to take it out on. Just put him on ignore.
@above guy – no it’s just the mob AI is simplistic. If you got to see the coding on mob AI here and then compared it to another game I think you’d realise.
With the removal of the holy trinity they also removed the more complex calculations that went into mob AI. So now all the mobs do is run at you if you get close enough and/or do some damage on them.
At this point, without redesigning combat entirely, they could at least realise what they’ve done (everyone is forced to be a DD tank): lose the idea of heavy/light/medium armour which frankly has no place in a game like this (where everyone is a DD tank), and give everyone the same heavy armour stats =)
Grouping is for the weak.
>make a mesmer
>learn portal
> find a really tall place
>lay portal
>find a bear brigade
>lay portal
>watch
oooo nice plan!
And OP – love the post.
I like the combat system; I’m constantly movin’ in and outa melee with me thief … rollin’, leapin’, dodgin’, hidin’ … keeps it exciting, heck of allot moreso than the fire ’n forget systems most MMOs got.
It’s actually worse. You’re just getting tricked by the idea you’re doing something fresh (you’re not). You can make combat systems with dodge rolling in it that also have the other mechanics (Tabula Rasa being the pinnacle of good combat never seen since), GW2 didn’t do this right at all.
I actually hate all the dodging and poncing around…it’s a cheap mechanic and shows they couldn’t be arsed making more complex systems like aggro, defence, trickier attacks from the mobs than just BAM BAM BAM. Build my chars around being able to take a few hits for this reason :P Rather go play a game with more ways to mitigate damage than cheaply dodging the BAM attacks.
Mesmers also in same boat. Actually all they get is nerfed even though they’re already borderline fail in pve (I know, because I play all classes)…and traits don’t work months after game release.
I got my mesmer to L80 kicking and screaming, and leave it there unplayed.
I would be jubilant to pay, say, $4-6 for the scythe staff skin, but instead, Arenanet seems to think that all of these skins and services should be a lottery found in chests instead of a straight, legitimate purchase.
Agreed. I’d be happy to buy things directly, I’m aware this is a f2p game after all (though I’d prefer to be playing a subscription game, guess I’m just waiting for the next decent sub game to arrive).
However I won’t spend money on gambling.
It’s how people play these days. Grouping isn’t what people do any more unless it’s accidental (doing boss/objective at same time so people group for it to save hassle) or they want to chat to friend without having to pm them (use party chat to talk across maps). This is partly because people would rather play at their own pace than either rush through areas or be slowed down by strangers, and partly because other people are often annoying.
Yeah the “anti bot” measures are going to drive the normal players away, I know I actually like this game, but all the diminishing returns and that stupid spam message (I’ve had it while talking in pm, saying things that weren’t repeat message, so this is broken) are making me angry.
I feel completely unvalued as a customer (I even buy gems).
Find some DEs, try to do story quest 5 or so levels early (that extra xp can help with leveling). Run about maps and collect all waypoints etc.
Happy ending so far though – no bots, just actual players on new server. Stupid bots.
Got to a spot and saw – no kidding – 30 bots running about in a procession. Server recently lost a ton of people, guess this is what bots do – they go to quiet servers to train up. Transferred off server to higher pop server, screw competing at DEs with the bots. No bots at this spot in new server.
@Lollie
It was meant for Satakal. Can’t edit/quote/whatever on this forum like 95% of the time. I know what the OP meant.
One way I found to fix the edit/quote button issue is to make a dummy post – the buttons show up again, then just delete the dummy post.
What this game really is, whether the defenders of GW2 want to admit it or not, is a home for those that dislike other MMO’s because they frankly were bad at them, and never got to see the endgame because of it.
If anyone remembers the Rudolph the red nose reindeer Christmas special, this is the Island of misfit toys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SH1j1luFOw
There is no real endgame because it would fracture their tiny ego’s knowing that once again nobody wants to play with them because they are sub par.
You can thank the “trophies for everyone” “no keeping scores” mentality that starts in school these days for the new breed of gamers who hate to see someone get shinies they cannot get because they are bad, and would actually have to work to get better.
So let them feel superior by saying “you don’t get it” and move on, misfit toys need homes too.
^This guy measures his success in life by how many shiny pixel things he has collected in games. Games he now no longer plays. Yeah we’ll listen to you, you obviously know what you’re doing =)
Way to miss the point. He brings it up to contradict the OP. As did every other person to mention it.
Wow sometimes I guess I overestimate the intelligence of the average person…I got that. You missed the point, I’m saying OP is correct and that other guy stating he managed to beat Claw Island on his mesmer is no great accomplishment, as you’d have to be hopeless to screw that one up. Do. you. under.-stand. now? (that was me typing slowly). It isn’t hard to cheese your way through quests early in this game – all you need to do on any class is avoid hits (something dodge allows). Let’s face it if you do quests 7 to 9 levels early on any class you can’t take a hit or so or you’ll be dead. As for OP, he seems like he’s used to letting his clones take the heat off him…mustn’t have got far through the game if he’s expecting that to happen, as we all know illusions die far too easily (they always feel like they’re 10 levels too low for anything the mesmer happens to be fighting, dying in one or two hits only).

What Esorono said^
You can’t farm DEs on mesmer, they are gim ped for this. Roll another character.
Monthly Achievements are account based. There was an issue with Monthly Achievements reseting when reaching 100% for some players in September. You were probably one of them.
No the bugged Lifetime Survivor thing is found under Achievements tab – Hero section (press H then go to Achievements – Hero and scroll down to bottom).
It’s not the monthly thing, it’s the account thing for overall play.
Mine is stuck permanently at 0 as well :/ yet have had no issues with the monthly survivor gaining xp.
(edited by lollie.5816)
No one brought it up as a mark of respect.
Yeah Evo up there brought it up as a mark of respect, making like he was able to magically solo that quest early on his mesmer thereby showing that mesmers aren’t crap at pve…when truth is that quest is easy for all classes, assuming basic things like you know not to stand still and try to tank the hits from multiple mobs…
I soloed claw island at 44 without ever being downed. My engineer did it at 46 but had some issues and was downed a few times. Truth is mesmer is practically immortal in Pve if you play right.
(edited by lollie.5816)
Comes down to one thing – economics. Not enough money in it to justify running the server for you and the 30 other guys left on this server at the end of three months’ worth of beatings from all the open world pvp/gankings.
If you think the dynamic world is a premiere, I suppose you’ve never heard of Rift.
Tabula Rasa actually started the whole dynamic event thing. Wish other games also copied the combat of that game as well. Still waiting.
I didn’t know that about Tabula Rasa and I’m guessing most people never even heard of it. Rift was a more commonly known example, but thanks for pointing that out.
np, still mourn the loss of that game and its ideas/combat from the gaming world, tons of bugs or not. Hoping one day some game dev will realise its importance.
