I’m upset if there’s lack of respect for people who may have a different opinion. The fact I think you’re wrong doesn’t mean I didn’t understand what you said
That’s it, I’m not going deeper into an off-topic discussion. Cheers.
There is surely some good argument in the thread, what is bad is phrases like “You aren’t going to convince anyone”, “so far you’ve barely been able to get people to simply UNDERSTAND what you’re talking about” and so on. That the OP agreed with.
If you have to “convince” someone, then it’s not even a discussion, you think you are right and that’s it. Sorry this made me quite upset.
I still think this is not OP at all, if they fix it I don’t care, it’s a minor thing in the whole bugged elementalist picture.
So you likely play another class as main. You come here and bring your point about why eles should grant you a free kill. You clearly didn’t listen to anything others have brought to your discussion. Finally you say that you are clearly right while others are not even able to understand what you said.
Next one please.
In siege the advantage should always be for defenders, regardless. You have a tower, you have a safe point of attack. The attackers are in the wild and should always be more subject to damage.
That said, I have constantly issues with downed states of warriors, thieves and mesmers. They are very often able to escape, they don’t even need a tower in the surroundings, open space is fine.
When I encounter other elementalists I just wait they use downed 2, and then they have NO escape at all. Easy finisher for everyone at any time. I don’t think having 1 single case of easy escape when you are defending your own tower is OP at all, it’s basically the only single case we can hope to survive (if others are not good enough to stop us).
The problem is that I already stick with D/D, but it’s pointless when sieging or defending a tower or when fighting a larger zerg. You need the staff then. In those cases, I can’t swap to D/D since I’m either in combat or don’t have the time to go through the inventory (escaping).
I was imagining there was no solution, so any good escape tactic?
So, I’m opening this to get some suggestion on how to handle 1vs1 encounters when I have the staff and I meet a D/D elementalist.
First of all, I usually use D/D and rarely have issues in 1vs1, even against other D/D. Though in World, when attacking of defending, I use the staff and since there’s no weapon swap, it happens that I hit a D/D elementalist while I still have the staff.
So far my only solution is to figure out a way to escape, but D/D has many distance shortener skills, so he can be on me in no time. I also have less damage than him.
Any strategies you may suggest?
You die easily and don’t have enough damage…
Is it worth making it? Yes, cause it’s the funniest class, imo.
I just retrained, from 30 Arcana to 20, redistributed 10 points to get Zephir’s Boon. I found again my beloved elementalist. Surely I miss the fun to jump into fields but I guess we have to adapt.
Seriously, if your guild is not helping you with dungeons, fractals lvl1, story or whatever else, drop them and find a new one.
I repeated story and dungeons so many times, just to help guildies, none of us has ascended, not even full exotics. Someone not even lvl80 and we help leveling.
Nonetheless we do all of the contents without any problem, so there’s no hard requirements if you’re able to play.
Just find a decent guild.
some things really didn’t work this time, globally the quality of the event was not in par with the game, not even with the Halloween event (by far).
Here is what I think didn’t work:
1. COMMUNICATION:
1.1 was unclear where to go
1.2 npcs were lacking interaction and information
1.3 the event was starting at the same time as the mail, once you were in the place the event had finished
1.4 I saw far too many questions in /map, was clear nobody did know what to do and where
2. DESIGN:
2.1 Missing connecting chains, once part of the event finished in one place, another part was starting somewhere else, no event bringing players through them. I saw lots of players lost in the middle of the map with no clue where to go
2.2 Impossible to follow the storyboard, you know something is happening cause some other player found something (hint: catapult), when that piece ends, you are again lost.
2.3 If you lose the zerg, you may well leave. I lost the zerg at the final event to try reviving a guildie, I died cause that area was so full of mobs to be impossible without the zerg. I couldn’t come back cause when I released at a waypoint the client crashed.
TECHNICAL:
3.1 Culling everywhere!
3.2 Unbalanced, first phase I was barely able to hit any karka cause they had barely any life, last phase they were lasting too much.
3.3 Login servers unreliable under heavy load, lost the chest cause my client crashed and I couldn’t login back
3.4 Need shards with limited number of players, with so many you can’t even enjoy the good parts of the event
The global sensation I got is that the event was lacking testing and quality, it could have been epic, it has been just an event as many others, with more bugs though.
Same here (my client crashed), exactly 1 minute before the chest, I was in voice chat with guildies, we just had to finish the Ancient Karka at the end.
Due to login server issues, by the time I was able to login again the chest was gone. 2 hours and a half killing karka to be unable to even touch the chest.
I was using it with daggers, this is not just the staff-wielding community afaik. I just would like a single finisher per field or a single finisher every X seconds. That would at least bring back the fun.
This will likely be pointless, just judging from the latest patch, it’s unlikely any dev reads this forum or even plays an ele. We had plenty of “your top 3 changes” threads, and the only thing we got out of that, was making another arcana major trait useless and a fake fix to magnetic grasp. I’m losing hope to actually be constructive.
Magnetic grasp is still totally broken (auto-stun), not fixed at all.
Blast finisher on evasive arcana was not op, the fact you could repeat it multiple times was. They should have retained a single finisher per field, since was extremely funny play style to jump into fields to get some useful effect. And as said were expensive, at cost of one dodge. FWIW I don’t have a tank build.
I suspect they were unable to make a proper fix, and just disabled it completely.
yes, it’s still totally broken and still works as an auto stun.
Perhaps if you read my posts, you would understand that I actually support the addition of out of combat weapon swap.
I read your post, but since I’m not English mother tongue I read it as “someone complains just cause they have to spend 2 seconds in the inventory”. If that was not your intent, I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.
And no, not all opinions have the same weight.
You’re quite wrong here, though.
Because according to popular opinion, investing two seconds of one’s time in opening your bags is an unacceptable hassle that should be removed as soon as possible.
Please, accept the fact people may have a different opinion than you, and that both opinions have the same weight. Nobody is asking to prioritize this fix, just that it would make lot of sense and what we have makes no sense at all.
There are various issues due to missing out-of-combar swap:
- is annoying, as any other bad UI
- forces you to keep weapons at specified locations in safe bags (hard to figure for newcomers)
- is unsafe, risk to sell your own weapons
- steals space in the inventory
Stopping here cause this is going OT.
my hopes
- fix to auto-stun caused by ride the lightning and magnetic grasp
- fix to windborne daggers
- out-of-combat weapon swap
edited: I meant magnetic grasp, not grasping earth

yes please, I have sold at least 2 times my daggers wrongly cause I have to keep them in the inventory. I know there are safe bags, but having to recall to put them there and so on is just unneeded pain.
While switching a single weapon is not a deal, switching staff for D/D is annoying.

And fwiw, I see people complaining about far waypoints and zergs. You should figure out that more waypoints means more zerg (people constantly running back to the zerg in no time). Fixing the two things at the same time is hardly achievable.
I’m still playing it, though I’m losing interest cause enemies can always be revived.
Let me better explain, defeating someone should give you a strategical advance, that is that player should have to run back to the battle (adding waypoint automatically to the garrison would reduce annoyance here), so for a brief time you can use that advantage. This would greatly help small groups fighting large ones (otherwise the large group can alway revive their members killing any possible strategies you may have).
In WvW should really be possible to just revive downed players, not defeated ones.
Really nice looking, I like it more than the legendary.

Thanks, it’s definitely an improvement, previously I was unable to see anything.
Though, on my asura (the smallest size available) I still see a bit too much ground (50% of the screen is ground), the camera height should be centered on the head, not the back, and ideally a bit higher than that for asura.
The camera that is constantly showing ground, just ground . No doubts.
As a quality of life issue, I could see them adding a weapon swap capability out of combat only. But not for like a year, there are far more important things for Anet to be working on (basically, what Inconceivable said).
Sorry, I must have missed what this thread was about… Weapon swap maybe?
So, if you have the staff and meet a thief or a D/D elementalist 1vs1, you usually win? Well, please post your suggestions and build in a topic, will be interesting to read.
How would weapon swap out of combat make us op?
Well, having to keep daggers in the inventory, take care of not selling the wrong dagger (yes, I know about safe boxes), having to manually drag (and move to the safe box) weapons every single time, is really really annoying.
The other problem is that I find the staff quite limiting in WvW, I usually use it cause allows better crowd control, though when I hit someone 1vs1 I don’t have good damage. A weapon swap with a really long cooldown (30s?) would help. Though I’d already be fine avoiding the boring drag&drop out of combat.
I think downed state is fine, gives you that last minute possibility to survive and favors coop. Though, once defeated you should be forced to restart from a waypoint, no revive.
I can confirm it takes a bit more time, but still not fixed, it was far better before 7 Oct. And it happened at a non-peak time.
It depends what you mean by tank, using mist form and arcane shield I can survive most situations and revive others in the middle of crossed arrow carts fire
Btw I have a balanced setup, half dps half tank, not even completed the exotic armor, though with well chosen traits, runes and sigils you can easily reach 20 stacks of might and do some interesting damage.
PS: by group I mean also 2 or 3 persons, not a zerg. Just roam around with your guild mates.
I’m ele, I do WvW, but I don’t feel UP at all. I feel UP in 1vs1 with the staff, but that’s not the point of WvW… elementalists really make the difference for their group survivability and pushing against enemies.
Just avoid roaming and looking for 1vs1, that’s not what you are supposed to do, if you want that, S/D or D/D in sPVP.
I WvW in whiteside but I’m far from considering it the worst, as you said.
Sure there is lack of communication (like people putting down a siege golem and forgetting to ask people to bring supplies to it), sure there is waste of supply (4 flame rams half built in front of the gate and no one complete), but on even number, or even outnumberedm I’ve seen us winning many more times.
So, just overcommunicate and things will go better.
If you want 1vs1 in WvW avoid the ele, sure you could win with D/D or S/D, but since ele lacks weapon swap you will either suck at 1vs1 or vs groups (where you badly need the staff). Basically you will often feel like you have the wrong weapons equipped and unable to swap since you are in combat. Btw staff ele is lot of fun, but don’t even try to 1vs1.
Sure that would make sense if the UI wouldn’t mess with the posted times… So it may be a UI bug… or not. Did you test this personally, so eventually we should file the bug report.
I didn’t see the specific question on “Add to my lowest listing” today, and I ended up opening another topic on that subject (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Does-add-to-my-lowest-listing-re-enqueue/first#post389167)
Btw it’s misleading also cause it updates the posted time for all of the listings, also those with 250 items already, there’s clearly a bug, either the posted time is wrong or it re-enqueues.
Sorry, when I did a search today that post was not there yet (the one asking about this specific thing) and the OP was clearly not about this. Btw it’s still unanswered…
Today I kept using this “Add to my lowest listing option”, I have about 10 open transactions, the first one opened this morning, the last one some seconds ago.
I just noticed that all of them show “seconds ago” under “posted”, so does using this option re-enqueue all of the listings or is this just a UI bug? Since re-enqueing would be quite bad (when I posted the first batch there was far shorter sell queue than now).

Thanks for suggesting the SMC reset, moved my fps from 8 to 50!
Seconded, I commonly lose it cause it’s washed out in all the other similar colors making the world. A light brown pointer in a light brown world
pay attention using Camera Tool, it’s not allowed, so you may be banned (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Is-this-camera-mod-legal/first#post281974)
I have a GTX570 and never had any issue with the game, this sounds surprising to me…
it’s disturbing that they don’t seem to use ASLR.
But if they all share the same thoughs?
Do you live on Mars?
Yea Ele is ridiculously versatile. There is no need for a buff. It requires SIGNIFICANTLY more work than other classes, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be awesome.
Though, if you do far more work to obtain the same, something is wrong, one side or the other.
Whatever power you give to players, it will be abused, no doubt.
