Hahaha awesome!
Now that is how you advertise!
HIGHLY recommend not starting a new character
the new trait system is h o r r i b l e
best : no subscription
worst : no subscription
…………… karma is wha’ts stopping you making a legendary?
……….. send me your mounds of excess gold plz?
if you don’t like the direction the game is headed, just don’t support the company financially. that’s all you can really do.
TL;DR at bottom of post
So, let me start off by saying this:
Mystic Toilet is too op.So today, I looked around on the TP for items to flip, but there didn’t seem to have any flip-able items, or atleast ones that wouldn’t take years to buy and years to sell to make profit. (Note: I am only working with 10gold, so anything to flip over 2gold is out of the question, etc)
So a brilliant idea was mentioned by someone. To forge 4 rare minis into an exotic mini to make profit.
Now of course, there is a gamble to it. But with only 10 gold, I did it, considering I had nothing else to do.After a flush, I got a mini worth 40 gold. Using that, I got a Jack-a-lop, which is worth 60 gold. I sold it. Now here is my mistake. I kept on trying for more. I should have known. RNG gods dont like me.
I flushed +50 gold on miniatures with no profit.
I should have known that stretching my abundance would kick me in the kitten. So now I ended up with less than 5 gold. I currently have 6 gold in my account, which means I can’t even flip anything fast. I got a few tips from a very nice bunch of people. One of them told me to craft Damask bolts, but in order to get to 450 tailoring, I would need a ton of gold.. I also got tips for dungeoning, but dungeons only seem to give 3 gold per day.
Per. Day.Maybe I’m overwhelmed on negativity, but I cant seem to find any way of making gold. I’m not usually so gold-thirsty, but after that 50gold loss, I feel quite hit. I even spent 800 gems trying to get it back. Mystic Toilet just ripped through it. I don’t even feel like playing anymore.
And yes, before someone with like 3k gold comes here and laughs at how I’m kittened off at losing about 100 gold in total to the point where I dont even feel like playing anymore, let me tell you that I felt like an absolute god with 100g, and without it, I feel stripped of power.
So I ask of you, how do you make money, and how much of it? I desperately need to make my money back to trade it for my sanity. I feel dirty loaning 10$ from my brother to have it thrown away in a toilet and flushed and to have such great luck thrown away.
And yes, I do know that playing the TP is possible. I just don’t seem to get anyone to buy my listed stuff, or sell me what I want to flip. I haven’t gotten any success. How do you do it?
TL;DR: I lost my cash, how can I make it back?
step 1 : open tradepost
step 2 : enter paypal info to buy gems
step 3 : convert gems into gold
this method will be exponentially more time efficient than anything that is possible, was possibly, and it seems will ever be possible by actually playing the game… unless you either work in a sweatshop, or don’t have a job.
no seriously. you can take surveys online for fractions of a dollar and have a higher time/gold ratio than actually playing ingame content. i know from experience.
you’re welcome, ANet.
Dungeons are the best way for guaranteed gold.
True, however there is an even more effective way at guarunteed gold, although some might call it an exploit.
Open up the gem store, click buy gems, enter in your credit card information, buy gems. After you receive your gems, go to the currency exchange tab in the gem store, and click convert gems to gold. Enter in the amount of gems you’ve purchased and click convert. It’s faster than running dungeons, and provides far more gold than even a full dungeon path tour depending on how many gems you’ve purchased. :P
all of my +1
you’re welcome ANet
now drop some precursors for me plz
oh dear…. this thread will be deleted very soon
(edited by Moderator)
step 1 : gold4gems
step 2 : buy precursor
alternative path
step 1 : play for 20 years and still have no precursor drop
lol is this your first online game?
everyone is always gonna call hacker when they get beat, always have, always will
I love chat, especially boss train chat. Would never want to kill it.
Any character on your account with Artificing can combine them.
i’m reposting this cause everyone should know. i must have clicked at least 5000 10 point luck essences before a guildie made my life 500x better with this simple information
+1 for optimism, the rarest sight on gw2 forums
ITT : ele elitism
if eles can easily swap ooc, then my mesmer should be able to swap to every single weapon even during combat. see, i don’t have 4 different elements to switch to as a mesmer. see the difference?
eles are the warriors of casters, i swear. meat heads!
WOOT
no
The tedium that has been introduced by reducing trait point acquisition is so much worse than the previous system – i struggle to find any enthusiasm for grinding out 5 levels just to see any improvement – i hate it.
all of my +1 to this
i was considering going so far as to purchase an additional character slot recently, but then they dropped the NOFUN4YOU hammer
way to hose yourself, anet
i support your idea but it will never happen
you see, people in GW2 don’t want to pay for actual content. when you want to pay for actual content, the people on these forums call it “paying to win”
however, when you add in useless recycled content like bobbleheads, they cheer and roar with excitement. because useless recycled content is what people who play GW2 want.
yes, i find this just as hard to believe as you do, but this is how it is.
i continue to be dumbfounded and maintain hope that it will one day change.
ooooh noooooooooooooooooooooo i fear that this is a forum topic which is legitimately and without cynicism encouraging anet to not only recycle content, but also CHARGE for recycled content
oh no it really is a forum post doing all of this
oh my god my eyes are bleeding ohhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
DR should not be felt by players, only by bots.
…and the people that are begging to play like bots.
Uhm absolutely not. Stop being part of the problem. Legit farmers are not the issue, they never have been. It’s a stigma that’s oddly solely been propagated here in this title. I’ve not seen it in any other game, not even the sub and F2P games I play off and on.
If the community wants to blame anything for the pricing in the TP blame the gold that’s coming in from outside sources, like Gem sales. This “Farmers should all go play something else because they are the devil” nonsense needs to go.
Let me also say that DR has removed exactly 0 bots since it was put into the game, exactly like all of the other historical counts of it’s use in mmo’s and other multiplayer pc games. If we took into account their reasoning for placing it in the game, it’s failed miserably as a gold seller prevention system.
my gosh, tigirius. you’re like a breath of fresh mountain air, in a thread that is otherwise filled with smoggy factory fumes and cancerous chemical inhalants.
you’re like a clean mountain stream flowing through an area that has been inundated with radioactive waste. you’re a voice of reason, when i’m otherwise surrounded by casuals and people so clueless about how online gaming works that i’m wondering if they even own a computer or if they’re just posting from their phone.
basically i’m saying thanks for the support on the topic
yes, that is the definition of an MMORPG. i think you were trying to make a witty retort to my idea, but in an ironic and hilarious twist, you’ve just fully supported it instead
Here is the dream ‘MMORPG’ you have been looking for, then.
You can thank me later.
Lol thanks for that, enjoying it. been letting it run for about 5 hours now and it’s giving me a good giggle every time i check it

$15 month converted into gems = 1200 gems = 96 gold
Yes, spending $15 per month can generate in game gold through the gem to gold conversion process. That is what I said in the post you quoted.
not only a pathetically low amount of gold, but that’s being GENEROUS, as i used 8g/100gem to calculate that, and 8g is a roundup of the average price. in reality you’d get even less than 96g
Not everyone would agree with you that 96G is a, “pathetic,” amount. Even so this portion of your post paints the complaint in an entirely new light. Apparently, from what you are saying, the issue is that the already in existence method for converting real world currency to in game gold does not give you enough of a return for your dollar. You (apparently) think that money spent should provide more of an economic advantage over others than it currently does.
which last time i checked, is the purpose of a video game.
You might want to check again.
trust me, this thread has been my check.
i now know that the purpose of a game is to not play it, but go on the forums and tell other people that they’re stupid for wanting to play it.
instead of playing it, i should instead not play it, and then when i want to earn rewards within the game, i should pump obscene amounts of money into it, and then continue to not play it.
okay thanks for all the info everyone. it’s been a pleasure hosting this thread.
my iq just dropped by like 50 points
$15 month for VIP access = unlimited potential for gold, limited only by your dedication to ACTUALLY PLAYING the game content, which last time i checked, is the purpose of a video game. to actually play it. and you know, get rewarded for A C T U A L L Y P L A Y I N G I T.
‘A C T U A L L Y P L A Y I N G I T’ = no-lifers and bots pressing 1 repeatedly at the same mobs for twenty hours a day.
yes, that is the definition of an MMORPG. i think you were trying to make a witty retort to my idea, but in an ironic and hilarious twist, you’ve just fully supported it instead
we don’t need or want new content, i like getting all my chars maxed out and just enjoying the game. but then they went and made kitten harder and now i am debating taking my vodka with sleeping pills and ending it all cus ill never have anything or anyone and this games all i kittening had
just simply reposting your post so that ANet sees this and realizes what they’re doing by burying a sparking jewel underneath piles of kitten
this man is considering ending it because you’re butchering your game, ANet!
may it weigh heavily on your consciences
lol dat >greentext story
i have “quit” the game twice now, am i’m now back for the third time for just over a month now, and every time i come back, i love the game more than ever before!
my first main was a necro. she was my first character, and this was before i knew that gw2 endgame is a cute dress up collection game, so i made her a really wretched nasty looking sylvari…. so she is now deleted (LOL)
second main was an engi, and i still farm/pvp on that character a liiiiittle bit. still quite a bit of fun since engi is such an awesome class
but my new main, my mesmer, is where all my time and effort goes and all my enjoyment comes from! favorite class yet, and i’ve played them all enough to say, favorite class in the game!
so honestly, i would say if you’re getting even a little bit tired of the game, and don’t really feel like making a new character, quit now! then you can start getting excited about how much more you’ll like teh game when you come back!
^_^
So what if you have 6 lvl80’s.
two of which are mesmers?
then you’re a pretty cool guy wtih good taste!
think i’m gonna play guard next though, in the far off future. mesmer is gonna keep me happy for quiteeeeeeeeeee a while methinks

14k achievement points,
5 thousand PvP games
Ascended berserker gear
Insane gameplay
…but a ranger.
And getting kicked by four 2k AP warriors, which I know suck big time, but that’s better than no playing.
Thanks for that Anet. Gj on PvE balancing. And I though PvP was kittened up…
the term “huntard” exemplified wonderfully
… as i was mining another ori node across the water from it in frostgorge, because apparently if i mined 2 ori nodes today i would be ruining the economy.
this isn’t cute. this isn’t making me want to buy gold. this is making me want to stop playing and supporting this completely casualified game entirely.
/rant
I made a thread recently, outlining how i envisioned a VIP subscription (which i am in full support of), which filled up quickly with close minded haters threatening to quit the game if such an option is added to it. I say, let the small percentage who will actually go through with quitting do so, and let the game improve and flourish on the increased income it will no doubt recieve by implementing VIP!
There were even some in that thread foolish enough to call a VIP service “pay to win”. Apparently they forgot that right now, the only way to efficiently get gold in the game is by directly buying it, which is the most direct form of “pay to win” in existance
What are the pros gives players the introduction subscription?
What are the pros gives old players introduction subscriptions?
i have absolutely no idea what this incoherent post is trying to say, but it still makes significantly more sense to me than those of you making unsupported, casual-biased arguments against an optional subscription model appealing to players who want to log in for more than 10 minutes per day.
thanks goes out to those of you in support of the proposition!
What’s with all the. MAKE IT SUBSCRIPTION threads?
Can’t you apreciate the game that has so much to offer without them emptying your wallet each month? The main factor in deciding wether to buy GW2 or not is that it had no subscription fees. And looking at all what i get for one time purchase i’m amazed and grateful to ANet that they chose this model… And i’m not the only one who thinks that. GW2 became popular partly because of this. Adding subscription fees would make the game dead. Not save it.
Some of us aren’t living in the countries where we can afford to play subscription. I don’t even have a computer that can run GW2 properly, but i’m having fun with it nonetheless. You don’t think i’d pay them some extra money if i had it? Most of the people would. The minority on the forums here are the ones that are complaining ybout nothing to do, and those are not the ones who bought the game and never gave out a single penny, rahter, the ones who did spend extra money and now they “have” the right to complain.
Want gold? Buy gems. Or work for your materials or whatever you want, there’s nothing preventing you from obtaining whatever ingame item you want except your lazyness. Want a shourtcut? Reach into your wallet and get gold from ANet. It’s that simple.
There’s nothing sacred about subscription fees and most games that had them became free2play.
The day this game gets a subscription fee is the day that me and half of the playerbase quits. It’s as simple as that.
I don’t want a second job, i want a game where i can unwind, and not fee obligated to play it just to get my money’s worth, which subscription does to games.
What if i can’t play it for a while for some reason? What if i am a casual player? This game doesn’t need to cater to only hardcore crowd, nor is it designed or intended this way.
maybe i didn’t make it clear, but i was suggesting that this subscription should be 100% optional. in other words, you can remain casual, and not have the game feel like a “second job”. even though that argument makes absolutely no sense because right now the only way to get gold is pay x amount of money for y amount of gold with absolutely no variable based on how much you play or how well you play soooooooooooooooooooo yea. it’s already even worse than a second job.
… on world bosses and dungeons
edit – it may have been somewhat unclear that i am suggesting this subscription model as 100% optional. if you don’t want to pay it, the game remains the same as it’s always been. if you do want to pay it, read on…
seriously, how simple is that? can there possibly be a simpler, more elegant solution to all of the general uprising and distaste within the community today?
think about it. this simple solution would solve every problem in one fell swoop. let’s bullet point it for ease of reading…
- the players who want to farm for gold can farm for gold, while actively supporting the game financially
- the players who don’t want to farm for gold can skip out on the subscription fee, and keep on buying gold when they want some
- the players who have never given a single penny to the game (other than initial purchase obviously) because they feel that there is not enough to do will now be more than happy to pay this meager “access fee”, which simply removes limitations that have been put on them. limitations that should ultimately never exist in the first place
- the casual players who do not wish to pay the subscription will not feel threatened or “left out” in any way, due to the core design of gw2’s gear system (i don’t need to explain this concept to you folks)
- the developers and publishers would be make record setting profits, the likes of which have never been seen by the guild wars franchise, motivating them to produce all kinds of new content, in order to keep up with the no doubt MASSIVE influx of players achieving all kinds of new heights within the confines of the present content
- everybody wins
as you read this, it may all seem too good to be true. you might be asking, how can such a simple solution even exist? if such a solution does exist, how in the world has this solution not been implemented since mere months after the initial release of the game?
as i’m sitting here typing this, i am thinking all of these same thoughts, and the answer to those questions is i have absolutely no kittening idea
now that the solution has been laid out, i’d like to clear up what i would like to see included in the subscription package, and what i do not need to see in the subscription. you can add in any of these ideas or whatever, i’m not gonna sit here and try to run the whole company for you, but anyhow…
do not need
- any kind of bonus skins
- any kind of bonus title
- any kind of bonus perks, boosters, crafting mechanics, etc. etc.
- any kind of gathering bonuses
- anything at all that makes my kitten feel bigger but serves no practical purpose. save that stuff for the gem store, which will still be in full operation under this new model
- any kind of discount on gem store items
- ANYTHING AT ALL that would make the “casuals” feel left out, or make them feel as though the guys paying the subscription fee had any kind of “unfair advantage” whatsoever. we’re trying to solve problems here, guys, not create them
do need
- removal of diminished returns on dungeons and world bosses
DOESN’T GET MUCH SIMPLER THAN THAT
anyhow guys, i’m not sitting here looking for recognition. i’m not asking for any kind of credit, even though i’ve just outlined all the ways to go about not only saving gw2, but making it something more beautiful and profitable than it ever has been and ever could be in the current state of affairs.
all i’m asking is that you implement this stuff IMMEDIATELY, for the sake of your own game, your company, and for the MMO community worldwide.
i’ll be the first guy on earth to click the “my account” link on this here lovely website, input my credit card information, and activate the subscription.
have a nice day.
(edited by nolij.4327)
imagine how great this game could have been if they focused on creating/improving content, instead of practically begging people to throw money at it while continually making present content less rewarding
RIP GW2
making the game harder and nerfing gold farming methods accomplishes two things
1. people who are dedicated players who like to farm for stuff will quite, making server load lighter
2. people who aren’t so dedicated but still want gold will end up spending even more money on buying gold because it’s now impossible to make gold by playing the game
it’s very easy to understand these kind of situations once you face the fact that it’s all about the money
inb4 “omg how dare anet try to make money blah blah blah”
yes, anet deserves money for content. however, taking present content and making it harder is not content, and therefore not deserving of money.
it’s sad to say that i’m thinking about leaving too, for wildstar
appreciate the reply!
i have never gotten any kind of gold selling solicitation in gw2 whatsoever. maybe i don’t play enough.
almost makes me feel unaccomplished :\
anyone else having a problem with Laranthir of the Wild in Lion’s Arch?
when i try to talk to him, some kind of UI dialogue begins to appear, but then immediately disappears as though there’s some kind of a bug going on
i asked a couple of people in game if he was bugged for them, and they said no!
i would understand that maybe i don’t meet a prerequisite or something if nothing at all happened when i tried to talk to him, but it really looks like there’s a bug!
so, anyone?
all i’ve ever played is females in MMO’s, cause dey sexy and if i’m gonna look at someone’s butt all day it’s gonna be a Q T pie
