Is there any chance that we can call this weekend a “stress test” event and then have the updated one next weekend?
+1
Unplayable event is unplayable. Please run this through next weekend, or run it again next weekend.
As much as id hate to agree with it, I have to. Wasted a good amount of time today and it would suck for tomorrow to be the same.
I doubt it will be the same, i’ll bet there are a great many that are just not going to bother with this entire event after the disaster that was the launch event.
now Anet has to convince me they can run these events properly before i’ll go near another one, one time events are now no longer worth considering a valuble time investment.
I do hope the devs got some sleep though:)
Even if the tech exist, the infrastructure does not.
It does not matter if this can be done, when there’s people behind copper wiring eating by rats.
We’ve got ISPs all over the world overcharging people, and using outdated and outmodded infrastructures.
Things must be done so those with the worse connection can do it fluently.
completly agree, even if Anet get the best servers money can buy and super computer to manage it all.
we’ll still be stuck with the crappy infrastructure of the world wide web.
this event for them is a lesson in what can and can not be done with the current infrastructure.
it’s not good enough, you can stress a server before it goes live by simulating concurrent users across varying broadband speeds so they really should have known this was going to happen.
i’m sure the event would run fine on a test server under minimal/average load.
the issue with the event came about when everyone went there on a live server and the load pretty much killed the server for all intents.
but they need to look at what happened here take it as a lesson and really learn from it.
as it is this entire event is finished for most players, myself i’m just not even going to bother with the next ones, simply because there is no way for Anet to do anything that can resolve the issues before the next event.
they can’t install new better hardware and get it up and running for a live game by tomorrow
they can’t change how the entire event structure works by tomorrow either.
they can however not do it again, they now know the limits of their live servers and those were grossly exceeded today so anything they do in the future needs to be live server capacity….half it and were good for an experience worth playing in.
Precisely. This sucks in a way I have not experienced in nearly 20 years of games playing.
So you weren’t around for the Diablo III launch apparently…
no self respecting gamer bought diablo 3…or admited they bought it after the disaster that the entire of that game is.
but that aside this isn’t a game launch here this is a content update and a poorly done one at that.
edit: but yes as someone points out above the devs must be gutted, and i do feel for them, they had this grand plan and idea that should have been brilliant and i do have some empathy for them at a time when it has all gone wrong.
happens to the best of them.
(edited by orlen.7810)
The thing is, I don’t really blame anet’s server team for this. Even Blizzard doesn’t do events like this, you know why? Because there’s not a server system in existance that can handle that much stuff at once.
WoW tried this ONCE. Years and years ago, a large server-wide event to open the AQ gates, culminating in a one-time event in one zone. Every single server that ran the event crashed without fail.
I mean, I give anet props for reaching high. It looked like it would have been a pretty neat event if it was playable. It’s just inexperience showing trying to run something like this, when history has shown we don’t have the server technology to handle it.
oh the tech exists, it’s just not cheap think billions and you might get close to a server that could run several million concurrent connections asking for that sort of bandwidth and you might be getting close.
add to that all concurrent users would have to be on fibre broadband and it would be doable
in fact some of the top servers would probably sniffle a little at doing it, they may even think oo i’m being used a little in this small corner.
but that would require more money than most game companies make in 10 years and something only places like the US department of energy would dare spend that kind of money on.
that’s nice.
but shouldn’t the devs plan ahead and have overhead on bandwidth and so forth for this type of thing?
not being funny but the lag is far from amusing.
trying to explain it without resorting to foul language isn’t actually that easy either…
get a desktop…considering some of the best desktop computers are having issues with the game you’d need to get something that would cost considerably more than 3000
or just have realistic expectations of what a laptop can do.
oh there are laptops that would do it…..but the battery is essentially a ups to power it down. and they cost upwards of 5k
3000..sadly won’t get you much in a laptop, sure it will come with over sold sales pitch and you forget they are all mobile components cut down versions of their desktop counterparts, less shaders less rops less of everything.
spending that much money, really look closely at what you are getting at the very least, shop around and make kitten sure your getting something that has decent cooling.
windows 8 is a fantastic os, the start menu was designed for touch screens, or devices like the leap motion which do away with touch entirely. with that in mind don’t expect to enjoy it without it.
give it some time as well, don’t right it off right away, patches and bug fixes will come thick and fast if they are needed.
do you remember how long it took polyphony digital to dumb down gran tourismo 5 for the ps3? years that was to make the game worse so the console could play it, that’s right the game you got was barely half what it was suppose to be, the console couldn’t handle it.
and you want guild wars 2 to be playable on one of these consoles? aaaaaahhhhahhahahaha not going to happen.
the technical problems are just astronomical, aside from the frankly absurd difference in performance between a gaming pc and a console and believe me when i say this, it would take several of your wonderous games consoles just to match a base line gaming graphics card.
your also forgeting one vital thing that games consoles lack, ram. they have 512mb of it which is not enough for many pc games even after a port they have to sacrifice a lot to be playable and this game can barely run on high end pc’s properly due to aweful optimsation.
they think they got rid of the holy trinity..yet they didn’t do it right.
class balance for removal of holy trinity was not done right.
@Orlen – So what IS accepting PvE endgame? Since exploration isn’t one, please don’t say raids.
well that is an interesting question, i wouldn’t have said raids no.
but some form of larger group combat that isn’t a dragon….before you say it, is required.
end game should be something this game focuses on, not something say wow focuses on.
guild wars…wait the end game is in the title of the kitten game, let the guilds fight each other as they did in gw1, the rewards should be something subtle and interesting but not gear.
this game should stay pvp centric but it needs to increase the pvp options available.
if WvWvW can’t render that many players they either need to do one of two things, sort out the game engine so it can render that many players, or restrict the number of players allowed on a map to allow the game to render them all and scale everything accordingly.
guild vs guild would give players more options and allow for a different level of competition
end game doesn’t have to be pve content like other games have done, but they do need to add something.
see my view of end game isn’t that bad i’m not screaming wow raids or anything remotly like that either, or adding a gear grind as really that would ruin this game.
that’s it i’ve missed it the entire time…end game….
looks all over tyria for end game, checks under rocks, in caves and up mountains but can’t find this ellusive thing known as end game…
i keep exploring and searching for this thing i keep hearing about in towns and villages called end game and wonder if i’ll ever find it.
now then, my joke out of the way there is no end game none what so ever not even a viable pvp option due to class imbalances they refuse to resolve.
no pve end game…..and do not say exploring that’s just a ridiculous notion of end game.
no working pvp end game spvp from what i gather is working? maybe but wvw is just lol at all the bugs.
i’ll send my character out on his own from now on, perhaps he can find end game for me while i play a real rpg.
it’s an mmo…lets just leave out the rpg untill it’s actually added.
and someone can let me know when an mmo comes out that actually has rpg in it and i’ll even be impressed.
If you’re not in an organized guild, you’re point is invalid. WvW NEEDS organized guilds and alliances. You’renot supposed to do WvW solo – simple as that.
apparently were not suppose to do wvw at all or we’d be able to see the enemy as well.
just saying.
not needed, you can clear a dungeon with 5 of any class the game has to offer.
granted ele’s are squish bags and some other classes aren’t great either….that’s anet balance for you.
were doing away with the holy trinity…but were not making all classes equal….kinda defeats the purpose.
6850, been a solid card for me for the last year, upgrading to the 7970 next month.
megrim wrote:(quote busted for me…)
Since playing GW2 I’ve experienced 3 ocular migraines. I’ve never had them before, so I must assume that GW2’s FoV has at least something to do with it. Certainly I’ve pumped more hours-per-session into other games without incident.
Oddly enough I don’t especially notice the restricted FoV as I’m playing. The problem only shows itsself an hour or two in when I start feeling nauseous or I literally lose half my vision to swirling, shimmering lights. The screen shaking explosions in CoE combined with the narrow FoV also tend to make me feel sick. Indeed, on the first few trash fights in there I usually have to auto-attack and look away.
end quote
it’s the same for me, i can play for so long before i have to just stop, i’ve not wanted to log in for over a week now.
being so close in on the action with such a narrow fov is probably the issue, with all the jerky camera movments and such i would prefer to have the camera much much further away for things like that.
getting to the point of trying to hack the game files to change view distance and to hell with eula, they should just conceed to the players on this.
as to the art excuse…that’s just terrible, one of the reasons i want the camera further away and a larger fov is to actually enjoy the scenery.
time to just do what your told Anet.
Sincerely I just don’t get why devs just doesn’t admit that there is definitely something wrong with the zoom or fov in this game and fix it. They talk about “position awareness”, not “changing the art” and some other nonsense as the reason to not fix this issue.
At the end the only real solution if you don’t want to get the infamous tunnel vision due to this ridiculous fov is playing on 3 monitors. Sorry for going off-topic but every time i see a post related to this issue it takes off my nerves.
yes switching to 3 monitors is a way to fix the horizontal fov but not even 6 monitors fixes the vertical fov.
6 monitors helps the vertical fov but it doesn’t solve it you still feel squished vertically but fine horizontally.
and i’ve had to stop playing the last week due to headaches when i play.
it works if your all prepared for it, and know it’s going to happen.
Normally I don’t say this but, the game is young and they’re still gauging what will and will not be acceptable in the gem shop. Trust me you’ll start seeing things in there that people will buy. Already people ARE buying and thats with subpar stuff in there.
true it will get better, and i’m usually the first to say the very same thing as well.
but i gotta be honest the light armour is just nasty looking…profane uggg just horrible.
how that passed a visual style panel for inclusion as the first choice of light armour i’ll never know.
no carrot on a stick in any game is bad plain and simple.
it doesn’t have to be gear but there should always be a carrot somewhere in a game, otherwise why bother?
lets be clear this game is not yet polished enough to be without a carrot to entice players to keep playing or better yet spend their money in the kitten poor effort that is the gem store.
the bugs the shocking trading post the rendering issue in pve and pvp is game breaking pure and simple.
This game needs a carrot right now.
I agree with you that there could be more carrots, but I think the OP means gear carrots specifically
Other (better) carrots could be more skins, leaderboards, new events and areas… anything as long as it’s not stat-based, I’m okay with it
yeah i don’t want gear carrots either, but some form of carrot would be nice.
Here is a video from WoodenPotatoes who talks about end game. It’s recorded in Feb, but I am surprised how much stuff he hits right on the nail of the head; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNw-rx42r7E&feature=related
The question is now – Are explorable dungeons too easy? For some people the story versions are impossible! But are they impossible because people are ignorant or because the game doesn’t tell them how to spec or the importance of having rings, accessories with certain stats, or to swap their weapons?
- The game actually has launched with over 30 dungeon paths – shorter paths that doesn’t challenge most peoples patience and takes 3-4 hours to complete.
But are they fun?
Are they only so fun you would do it for the reward. Would you do dungeons for no rewards in WoW or any other MMOs? Are dungeons in MMORPGs today fun enough in themselves?
So maybe the question is not if GW2 has end game, because it has loads of it, its more a question of how repeatable and how fun it is!? And what ArenaNet can do to change it?The dungeons are not fun in the slightest, nor do you get any rewards for it after you get your exotic set. They are short and don’t require you to do much other than attack and dodge red circles. I still think a raiding system similar to WoW’s is pretty much essential for a successful endgame.
kinda disagree, i raided heavily in wow, a few world first kills as well back in wolk.
i got bored of raiding very quickly and just did it out of habit after a while, but i wasn’t enjoying it. boss casts this..do this move here…next teir boss casts this…oh thats the same as those other 20 bosses…cast this move there.
same boss week in week out for 7-8 months…and the kittening kitten still can’t grasp the concept of move from fire.
same boss week in week out for months and you move to the same spots take the same start positions employ the same tactic every time for the same ability and then do that for all abilities just like it that the other boss have in the next 4 teirs of content.
how do you not get bored of that?
i got bored of it after weeks never mind months yet i somehow did it for several years. that’s my own fault by the way.
no carrot on a stick in any game is bad plain and simple.
it doesn’t have to be gear but there should always be a carrot somewhere in a game, otherwise why bother?
lets be clear this game is not yet polished enough to be without a carrot to entice players to keep playing or better yet spend their money in the kitten poor effort that is the gem store.
the bugs the shocking trading post the rendering issue in pve and pvp is game breaking pure and simple.
This game needs a carrot right now.
yup they do indeed need many more choices.
and this game is suppose to be funded by that cash shop….not doing great that’s for sure.
it’s like walking into your local sweet shop and seeing 3 of your most hated sweets and the clerk saying well those are your choices..don’t want them…move along then.
i usually play in eyefinity so i don’t get the whole fov thing horizontally but the vertical fov is just….terrible.
I tried a 6 screen eyefinity, had to borrow the screens and cables but it was worth it just to see it not improve the vertical fov at all even with 3 extra screens above my own the view was too narrow.
and i was hoping that would have solved the issue for me but it didn’t, it helped thats for sure but no where near enough, what is the vertical fov? 35-45 deg? either way it is way to narrow.
for me it ruins pvp not being able to zoom out from my character further is also a major annoyance and one i’m struggling to deal with.
I really hate games that don’t let me zoom out to a more suitable level.
fov in this game is just like staring through pinhole.
you could just look at the map….should tell you all you need to know about how bad your world is doing.
Fastest way at this time to grind Karma is exactly how the OP just stated and this leads to losing real real bad if everyone is doing it. Really think they need to remove the karma/exp/silver gain aspect or at the very least scale it down to below the PvE rewards. WvWvW should NOT be the optimal farming place?
only if they remove all costs from WvWvW and i mean all costs.
for some WvW is their sole reason to play the game, not like pve has much to offer anyway.
I also think if you remove monetary gain then some will find WvWvW to expensive some days you can make a lot of silver, other days you can just have it all go wrong and cost a lot too, removing silver without removing repair costs would hurt the game more than anything.
karma gain is something different though i’m not bothered…never going to spend enough time in this game to require a lot of that for a legendary.
exp…oh no you don’t i’m not questing to level another character….i rely on WvW to level my alts if you do that then you may as well make WvW level 80 only.
it may help however, unfortunatly it’s only the players that can resolve this issue.
perhaps Anet can do something to aid the balancing issue.
buff to low presence world players and forts they occupy give them a chance.
let the undermanned buff work outside the main waypoint area…for some reason it’s there then it vanishes as soon as you step outside your main start area…and that’s not due to population from your world.
change the undermanned buff..right now it’s just worthless.
just a few thoughts, but the massive transfers need to be looked into, why they are doing it what the gains and benifits are and whether those benifits should be changed to be bound elsewhere and tied to something different.
Squall Leonhart.2075 – I have tried to change the VCCIO voltage but my BIOS does not allow this, the option is greyed out.
you would have to enable manual tuning in the bios.
you are suggesting an overclock on an unstable system….i can’t even begin to imagine how many levels of stupid you went through to come to this solution.
how about a ram test first? or did that skip your brilliant mind?
or even a hdd test, who knows maybe he has a faulty sector?
maybe it was just a corruption in the os..
maybe it is being caused by a virus/trojan/malware they can cause major instability in a system as that is what they are meant to do when not jacking your info.
and as to overclocking…stop suggesting voltage changes that could cause him massive instability, it’s not you’re pc, best advice for a voltage change is to send him to a website that deals strictly with overclocking where posters have ample experience in this field.
Squall Leonhart.2075 – I have tried to change the VCCIO voltage but my BIOS does not allow this, the option is greyed out.
don’t ever do that, and certainly not for one game that is a problem and no others are.
only ever change your voltage settings after you have checked what the thresholds are for your ram modules.
a .5v increase on one ram type might not cause any issues while on another could kill it, rare given the quality of ram these days but why take a risk without checking with proper sources and not a forum poster here.
never perform an oc without getting good advice from a reliable source, there are websites and forums devoted to overclocking with lists of stable overclock changes to make that will work, always check before doing any type of oc.
any voltage change as suggested by squal is an overclock, if you have a problem it could make that problem a lot worse very quickly.
op, what software do you use with your machine? are there any additional graphic related software that is in use? fraps and such, are you using catalyst ai to overclock the gpu? any and all info would be helpful.
and never rely on any post saying to change a voltage or overclock on a games forum, use a more reliable site for that kind of thing.
just increase the cooldown time on transfers to 2 match weeks, so if you change mid week it would end up being just over 2 weeks.
transfering should be a choice that you have to think about, at the moment it’s to easy to just up and leave.
32 and like it, i want them to fix a some things sooner though and address a few things but beyond that.
I also don’t like waypoints and I think a system where you automatically travel through the land on some sort of vehicle or mount is better but most of the younger players are not willing to wait 2+ minutes to go from point A to point B.
Younger players? I’m an adult with a job, I don’t want to wait around but actually play the game with the time I have each day.
agreed, it’s not that younger players are in such a rush, but many players have limited time they can get on and play the game before the wife/husband gets them by the neck and drags them away to do family things.
@calavera, that’s a very narrow view of the gaming community where some have very demanding jobs but still want to relax in a game they enjoy, with what ever free time they have to do it.
if that means you have to suffer by seeing waypoints then i say add more.
Look no further then WoW when they introduced flying mounts. Not only was the size of the world reduced dramatically, world PvP died. When they implemented a shorter hearthstone, teleports to zones, dungeon finder and more gryphon points, they destroyed the immersion even more. The world became empty.
A big example was the journey to places like Winterspring from Darnassus or the travel from SW to Booty Bay or from SW to EPL. When you add tons of flight poitns/way points…all of a sudden, it’s this small world now.
world pvp in wow was dead long before they added flying mounts, it certainly didn’t help the situation either but it wasn’t the cause.
the only thing that affects world pvp in any game is the players, when they have had enough well it’s done for, and in wow they had just had enough.
some talk about wanting it back, but remember that is not a mass majority.
let’s be clear here, blaming amd isn’t going to do anything for overall performance improvments this game needs.
intel chips are being heavily taxed in this game for no real reason, were talking about the sort of thrashing you expect to get from proffesional level software not a game.
amd chips are not bad they just flat out aren’t any worse in games and certainly not worse in proffesional level software where they more often than not out perform intel chips, that is just fact sorry if you don’t agree because you run an intel or are an intel fanboy but amd chips flat out perform better in most proffesional software.
now the question isn’t why are amd so bad in games in general because they aren’t, the question is why are they so badly performing in guild wars 2 which is not the case with other games.
quit already with the pointless debate of which is faster or better, the fact is this game is just as bad in intel chips as it is on amd chips, and if amd is performing so badly then just how much better can both chips do in this game?
and if your wondering i run an intel i7 i’m just not biased against amd.
The 550ti is hardly a weak card.
it would be considered the minimum for any type of gaming, it’s in line with the bottom end amd 6770 which is hardly great but mearly sufficent.
and then the gap between those cards and the top end of their line is just colossal.
so yes they technically are weak but by no means bad, you just wouldn’t take anything of a lower spec.
I really want to play the Hunger Games world event again. Anyone else for it as well?
Those who never played the BETA, well Anet created an event simulate the same battle like Hunger Games book/movie.
you mean battle royale right?
much better movie and not some holywood ripoff.
even taking my time getting to 80 didn’t take long.
has it been worth it? not yet
will it be worth it? yes oh yes….they just need to fix a few broken things and i’ll be more than happy. i should point out i refer to the render issue in wvw which is my main reason for playing the game.
(edited by orlen.7810)
wish i could agree, but i kind of found orr to be more of a pain in than fun.
some seem to like it which is fine xd but after a while it just drives you mental, it’s relentless and you can’t relax most of the time which is more annoying when all the waypoints are contested you can’t find anywhere to port to that’s nearby so you end up having to port to far away so you can take a break.
it’s a zone that doesn’t allow you to take a break which is fine but is also very annoying.
i think the simple fact amd’s are performing badly is more to do with the game than the cpu’s by amd.
which makes you wonder are the intel chips even performing the way they should in the game or are they being held back as well?
that leads to the game optimisation being so poor that you can’t even spend money to improve your game performance because no matter what hardware you throw at this game it won’t perform as it should.
also half of the 7970 should get you 60+ fps as i get more than that with a far far worse gpu, yet i do have a considerably better cpu which can’t account for that fps difference, and if it does then arena net need to shift some of the cpu load to the gpu where it should be.
(edited by orlen.7810)
You dont HAVE to OC an i5 or i7 .. its just what you do though. Buying one and not OC’ing it is a waste, they have so much potential power being unused when they are not OC’ed.
it just so happens that games that are cpu bound.. like GW2. .also end up running faster.
and if you do oc it and gain nothing what then?
chances are if you are overclocking you need to, or your pushing the boundaries of your hardware on purpose.
gw2 is not reason to overclock a stock i7…not by a long way it’s a tough game sure, but it’s not hard enough on an i7 to warrant or need to overclock.
get the k series that’s a given but overclocking is not required for guild wars 2, you won’t see any benifits from it as the game can not utilise all 8 cores of the i7 and can not tax an i7 to 100% load or anywhere near it.
If you want to do extremely detailed rendering and really heavy duty video editing and i really mean full on proffesional work loads then by all means seek to overclock your i7 because chances are you would have more money than sence and you wouldn’t be worried about hardware costs in the slightest and probably be employed by pixar or some massive movie studio doing special effects for a living.
oc…more often than not is a waste of time, given the right environment oc has it’s place but it’s not required with the top end cpu range and a game.
if it helps i could list off the game’s that would actually tax an i7 to max load.
here it is
and here is where it ends
that was difficult, now mmo’s do use more of the cpu but are not proffesional software so will not utilise them effectivly compared to adobe master suite cs6 64bit…which frankly you’d need to spend 10’s of thousands to fully realise as it supports higher ram than is capable from home operating system versions.
as to ram, more is better up to a point, 16gb which is the max on windows 7 home premium 64 bit, is more than enough for any game in existance apart from one crysis which has no ram limit on 64 bit, apparently it will use 96gb to render the final map zone if available.
windows 7 pro will raise your ram limit to 32gb likewise with ultimate.
to go beyond the 32gb cap you would need to invest in the enterprise versions of windows operating systems which support up to 256gb of ram over pci cards.
to put things in perspective
a friend of mine with more money than sence has
32gb corsair dominator ram at 2200 mhz air cooled
triple sli’d 690 gtx
gigabyte motherboard with 6 pci-e 3.0 slots allowing full use at max threads across all 3
an ocz revo drive, that’s a pci-e ssd for the rest of us, 1000mbs read and write, the avg mech drive is under 200 and the avg ssd is 4-550 mbs.
1200 watt psu
and an i7 something..can’t remember which
all that is water cooled
his pc is an absolute monster and i’m really jelous i don’t hide it myself
yet for all that hardware he gets comparable fps and game performance to myself in guild wars 2
in other games it’s a completly different story however.
common factors
guild wars 2
and both have i7’s
apparently just as bad on a system that cost £3k+ as it is on a system that cost me £2k
if the i7 is the factor at fault it’s only present in guild wars 2 which is also a dx 9 game which is no where near optimised for 8 core cpu’s either.
in short
arena net need to update the dx version to actually utilise the threading protocals of modern computers.
it should be standard practice in an mmo or any online game that mixes pve and pvp.
why it’s not is beyond me.
remember even the release preview currently available from microsoft is still a beta so performance and bugs are still present in that version.
any support from graphics vendors is also in beta and the same from any motherboard manufacturer.
with all that in mind the potential performance could be limited and support will not be there just yet from other users certainly in the form of gaming support.
at the core windows 8 is by far the most superior os to come to market, the visual style aside it is trully amazing and incredibly quick, it requires less resources than current systems to perfom the same tasks which says a great deal about the operating system.
the metro ui, is fine, boring and somewhat clunky but does perform it’s task.
how games perform will entirely depend on the game in use, games that use the new dx 11.1 that windows 8 will be using will perform well above what games do now on similar hardware to a windows 7 machine, games that use dx 9 like guildwars 2 will probably be just as good as they are now with maybe slight improvments in fps and load times.
@jestunhi
the metro ui is standard and no longer optional, all versions of the os rt home and pro all have metro ui as a feature standard (metro has been challanged as a name so it will be changing) the previous beta where it was optional has since been changed in an updated beta version, in release preview you have no choice at all whether the metro ui is on or not.
the current version is also very well optimised for touch just as windows 7 is, with various tweeks to the ui you could easily make windows 7 very good on touch screen.
@Shemhazazi
yes windows 8 uses the same drivers as windows 7 for most things, however most hardware manufacturers are already developing optimised drivers for the operating system.
vista wasn’t that much of a fiasco and you can’t blame microsoft for the failures of the hardware manufacturers to not deal with their own issues they created, they were all given ample time and warning of the changes the operating system brought and decided to ignore them of their own accord, much like the released laptops with vista were all underpowered for the os, those with high end desktops did not have anywhere near as many problems if any at all.
I posted a list of items that would give you a fairly decent list of items for a gaming pc if you build it yourself including a monitor and keyboard for under £600 exc operating system as well.
differences, well you would have to build it, retail with the same spec would cost you £8-900 and chances are they would have skimpted somewhere…dodgy motherboard and crap power supply..retail only has a 1 year warranty, build it yourself and all the components have their own between 3-5 years.
if you want i can post the list and edit out anything you know you don’t need.
they already said it’s not working as intended…a fix is coming.
the mesmer portal was only meant to transfer the players party or up to 5 players, it was never meant to transfer an entire zerg of 40+ including seige.
it works and it should stay but not in the form it has, every spell or ability should have it’s limits the mesmer portal is no different.
it should always be allowed to be used in the fashion it is used now just not for the same number of players.
@teistiz,
that is correct it takes a bare minimum of 30 fps in a game to be considered playable and not be stuttery to a degree that harms the gameplay.
but it requires higher fps than that to remove the stutter/judder when turning and such.
using an amd 6850 in eyefinity does get the gpu hotter, but not by that degree.
honestly i don’t know but check the fans on the case, i know i know you may already have done but make sure they are going the right way, you never know one fan going the wrong way can seriously mess up the air flow you should have.
other than that i’d reapply some thermal paste and see how it goes.
something isn’t right but without seeing inside your computer it’s kinda hard to give you better advice outside of the obvious which have already been pointed out.
i raise issue with the whole glass cannon concept.
guild wars 2 isn’t suppose to have a glass cannon that needs a healer or tank to stand in front of to soak damage.
The entire point of the game is not needing those things from any other class.
So why is it that the ele needs so much work just to stay alive when other classes can do the same with so little effort and movment.
I would agree with most but the plane simple truth is you can not claim glass cannon is viable in a game that isn’t suppose to have any class as a glass cannon.
every warrior will assure you that kill shot is fine and you just need to avoid the obvious setup appearance that you should easily be able to pick out of 40 players.
If you’re stood still in a zerg of 40 players long enough to be hit by Kill Shot, you deserve to be hit by Kill Shot.
can’t see the enemy a lot of the time, at the moment my only way of even seeing someone before i get stomped is to tab…. a lot.
i play ele, with a fire earth build, not really very good gear as i’ve only been 80 for about 2 hours of game time.
i was just wondering if that was normal, it’s the first time i’ve taken damage of that size before and it just seems at odds with damage i’m capable of dishing out in one hit and my health pool as an ele as well.
given ele has generally lower health it just seemed like a rather large amount of damage for any class to dish out in one go, and with arena net saying trinity isn’t in the game i kinda feel like they have forgotten to check their numbers on a few things.
and if i could have healed it i would have..pretty much wiped me out.
it’s hard not to find arena net are being ridiculous about the ele, they wanted all classes to be able to solo everything to some extent that’s why they keep going on about not having the holy trinity of tank dps healer as an individual class.
so why is it then that ele has such terrible defencive capabilities? and is not by any stretch of the imagination suitable for a game that doesn’t have tanks and healers.
they want they best of both worlds here, they want glass cannon but they don’t want the trinity of classes…well sorry but you can’t have your cake and eat it, either ele gets buffed in defence or it gets a freaking massive buff in offence to offset the absolutlely terrible defence.
one or the other arena net, you can’t nerf them both and expect ele to be remotely fun.
