Laughed multiple times. XTD has the consensus. The T1 leadership would have a real problem with open field siege tactics and 24/7 ppt focus. The servers like to take breaks from ppt without worry about losing rank. You convert to the meta or die in T1. Even if enough T1 leadership agreed to facilitate YB into T1 they still have to agree on who is leaving T1. None of the top three have leadership that want to leave the tier permanently or play a primary account below T1. So far, only individual guilds are leaving/arriving. What if YB did not comply with the meta? What then? It would be an ugly conflict of interest.

Its the twilight of the game’s political cycle. The end will be as painful as the playerbase chooses. The level of “care” can be controlled by leadership in all tiers. The level of cooperation this late in the game is up to the playerbase. Will they care about the happiness of other players? Can the community be moved to do something? Or will they continue to be anonymous entertainment users? Will it be an awful decline or a soft decline? Discuss. Choose. Move on.

IMO [My bias is from BG perspective] BG can run guild forces, pug, blob, pugmander, havoc, bloodlust response, and roamers in NA. I believe TC has all these elements as well. JQ is the lacking server in this time zone.

Both fights and ppt are selectively chosen. PvD happens in tier 1 NA =(

BG is content with NA militia numbers, but want commanders, scouts, and leaders to reduce overplay.

BG perception of JQ is that they have been hurting for numbers during NA and also need pugmanders, guild leads, and commanders. Guild [TW] joined JQ during this time zone to “save” it. As a result the other JQ timezone guilds rejoined/increased play. This boosted JQ’s rating and kept it in competition. [TW ]believes they were successful in “saving” JQ and the community is absorbing the consequences. TW guild is currently saying the population balance situation is poor and needs continued work. TC server is healthy on numbers in NA. Word in BG is that TC server is bleeding NA leadership. They also need new pugmanders to tag up. More militia numbers to BG or TC in NA is unwanted because it would be damaging to population balance.

If you check the ppt graphs you’ll note BG is hurting in other time zones for both numbers and leaders and this is exploited for points. All three servers exploit population weaknesses. 2vs1 is active and alliances rotate rapidly. It was exciting on all sides I believe. Everyone was raving about the final score being within 3k points for the first time in over a year.

It is likely that all three servers have community leadership that are overplaying due to lack of roster. Tier 1 leaders negotiate “push” weeks to coordinate population enjoyment and prevent community attrition. Server communities are sharing multiple guilds.

Unique to tier 1 [I think?] is cross server guild representation. Most well-known is TW and their affiliated guild TWL. But, there are other guilds too. This is a current topic being discussed and the BG community [other servers?] is still adjusting to cross server rep.

For more information show up on one of the server forum boards and ask what is needed. Or contact Malevolent Omen [OnS guild] [he leads BG during EU and NA]. He will know who you can contact on the other servers [if no one else replies].

The communities changed. WvW politics changed. Many guilds changed servers. People are playing on multiple servers. GvG on NA side is dying a slow death. Some minor changes and fixes. Lots of PvE content. Watch the recent Spvp tourney hosted in China and see for yourself where the company priorities are going. Courting the China market is more lucrative?

I returned and ended my protest. I want to spend some time with people before this game mode is killed. Now, imagine if this generation of gamers learned the power of organization to protect their interests. It would be a different and less individualistic game world.

I have a morbid fascination with the outcome of the dying WvW gamemode. I am curious to see how it will be creatively destroyed [which I do not support].

Does this mean the posters are unaware of what BG is doing to help JQ right now? Its simple to connect and ask what a community wants lol. T1 want better population balance with the current servers. Its similar with T2, they want better population balance and good fights. Yak’s Bend doesn’t belong in T1 [they will never win a match in T1 without T1 players]. Much of the T1 leadership are former T1 players from other servers that dropped out[SoS & SoR]. Maybe too many left the game to know this?

Side Note: T2 should connect with the T1 community to accomplish mutual goals of population balance…and prevent unwanted outcomes.

Here is some history: I’ve been solo since [OnS] Onslaught left for Blackgate when Sea of Sorrows divided up…sometime around Feb/March. I spent my time working with the SoS community leadership after that. I haven’t logged in since I started my protest of WvW content [roughly 2 weeks ago]?

If you want to GvG with SoS server I can help you connect with some guilds on SoS [if you need help]. The guild I recommend you contact is vH.

Extra Note: I am aware that purposely going solo for that length of time is unusual, but it allowed me flexibility with the (SoS) server social organization. I think I was successful up to the month of May. Things changed at that point and I became inactive.

Let’s talk about this comment. GvG has been an ongoing thing since roughly 8 months ago [arbitrary number, I’m not an authority]. The scene did its own thing…until…recently… it was targeted by a few players for harassment. The response of the GvG community is what you are referring to above with your statement [making threads]. (Thankfully, a guild rankings website was also provided).

oZ, Anet has not communicated that they understand. They have not tried. They do not engage the WvW community. They do not engage the GvG community. They are neglectful and dismissive. If you want to engage with them why not make your own thread?

Some of the GvG supporters in here are borderline enthusiastic apologists for Anet’s negligent responsibility to respond to the organic evolution of its own product. This is a human community.

Call me “entitled.” I’m a 1st generation gamer. I know the difference between a responsible “connected,” developer and an exploitive developer. I have personally experienced both situations [previous to this game service]. You [owners of Anet’s revenue] think you will have an endless stream of human players to "turn over" your population loss? You are wrong.

I was a WvW focused player. I never did GvG matches. However, the guilds I worked with instantly recognized its value. We adapted, we trained, we learned, and we died often at the hands of GvG crews [referencing RedGuard’s visit to Tier 1 NA]. It took time to have an informed opinion on GvG. It took time to understand its history in the game. I wasn’t a supporter in the beginning. That all changed after I benefited from increased gameplay skill thanks to those original innovators who mastered the mechanics & character builds.

So, thank you, GvG community for your contribution to the game. I will not forget the experience. I apologize that I did not work with the GvG community in a more direct way.

No West coast server. Depends what time zone you want to focus on. If you stay on late you’ll be with the oceanic (any tier 1 server, TC server, SoS server, DB server, FA server) players? If you start early you’ll be doing NA primetime (any NA bracket server)?

You should look at the server communities [check out the server websites] and leadership…

There’s not much you can do. One side will always have more people than another unless you make it instanced Alterac Valley… but then what’s the point?

WoW? Wintergrasp comes to mind for non-instanced.

I actually believe there is a way to make it at least MORE balanced…lower the queue number to like 50 people and open free transfers., but that’s a different conversation.

There is an immensely distinct difference between then and now. Then, the orb was behind walls and gates + 80 people. Now its just behind people. One was an impossible battle the other can be won with knowing how to work a map and the open field. Sort of like how north camp used to be when it housed the orb.

I agree there is a big difference, and I agree with the fact it was behind walls gates and then the north camp guards etc., but you’re saying its a good thing thakittens in the open field i’m saying i’m not sure, at least if you got the orb and your server had a smaller population in WvW you could defend using siege….now you don’t have that option.

I’ve played since inception, you needn’t worry.

I also remember that the orb runs, under fire and the constant attempts at cut-offs and ganks, were some of the most fun people had on Borderlands. I also recall, back in that day when BG wasn’t anywhere near the dominance it now shares with SoR/JQ, that orb didn’t make us throw in the towel when we didn’t hold it. We went out and tried to get the kitten thing, everyone did even the third server.

That was the whole point of it. It would sit in a keep and shout at the other two servers: “Look! Look at me, bring it!” It was the source of the 2v1.

I’m glad that you played back then at least then references don’t fall on deaf ears lol.

I think a lot of the fact that people back then didn’t throw in the towel was because the game was still new and fun. Now it’s matured and gotten stale…I think you will see people throwing the in the towel sooner. Which will exacerbate the problem instead of help….

They [Devs] are not performing as expected. Game service is no longer acceptable (for me). The player base waited a year for them to finish what they started [they did not work on the fundamentals]. The game population has a high turnover rate (this makes it far more difficult to run a gamer community). No one at the Dev level have shown, displayed, or communicated expertise in WvW gameplay. One of the few things left for this disaffected group of players is communicating with each other on these forums.

95% of the “antagonistic and confrontational” behavior comes from our fellow male players. Do you agree? It could be worse.

I wonder about your approach Jayne because I don’t think you have acknowledged the frustration of the disaffected players? If you communicated that more clearly I would be more inclined to work with you.

I can’t remember what I paid for this game – about the price of a good dinner I guess.

I’ve had hours of fun out of it, completed the stuff I’m interested in and left the rest. I still enjoy playing WvW so I’ll probably keep playing that for a while. If Anet make changes that interest me, I’ll maybe play a little longer, If they offer something in the Gem store that looks interesting, I might buy it.
(So far, the only thing I bought was a transfer to a better WvW server).
If a better game comes along – I’ll probably buy that and ditch GW2. That’s how committed I am.

If the seller decides to add more features to it after the sale, that’s up to them. There’s no agreement to do so and there’s no agreement to ‘fix’ things you don’t like.

Stuff gets added to the game in order to :-
a) Make some further profit from Gemstore additions.
b) Try to keep people interested so that they might keep playing. (With an eye to (a))
c) Give a reason for continuous news releases and similar publicity for advertising purposes.

‘Bug fixes’ are simply a manifestation of (b)

That’s the legal position in a nutshell, like it or not. Whine all you like, it’s not going to get you anywhere unless Anet can see a profit in it, so you might as well be polite.

Tell me again how there is no profit in improving WvW? If you want to be polite and ask the Developers to kindly communicate a mastery of this game format I would appreciate it? That would be helpful.
