Update’s here. No developer post on this? I’d like some clarification on whether or not these will be coming to other players, and I’m sure other people would like it to. Having a new set of craftable items that actually look good will be nice.

Have the main points been covered in the thread? How the changes alienate new players from playing and make leveling even less fun of an experience since you have less to work with?
It’s not as if this game was limited enough with it’s preset skills, jeez. I can’t recommend the game to any of my friends that have asked about it simply because I know they’d quit before they even hit 80.

I still like these a lot better than any backpiece that’s been released so far. They have an actual quality to them.
Seems like people here would rather keep their backpieces that don’t match anything at all.

I like these a lot. What’s with people saying they’re unattractive? Not enough particle effects for you people?
I want the bear one the one, but the treasure chest and anvil are nice too.
A norn or a charr would probably use the anvil one the best.
People saying that they’re glad they aren’t in need to realize that more options is always a good thing and that responding in this way might screw over chances of someone else, like me, who would want these skins.
And I personally find these a lot more attractive then the multiple reskins of the holographic dragon wings.
Those wings are terrible.
It looks like actual effort was put into designing these new backpacks, and I sure as hell hope we get the option to craft them soon as well.

People actually had problems with this boss?
People are actually wanting them to nerf difficulty?
Things in this game are easy enough. I’d rather they stop with the mindless nerfing just to appeal to people that refuse to learn basic mechanics.
To add to the dungeon discussion, every dungeon in the game is easy. When every single dungeon can be beat by the same strategy (stack on boss, kill boss), then dungeons, even arah, should not be considered difficult by anyone.

OP: I do agree with your feelings on this subject – If there was a way for the developers to involve/acknowledge your character more, that would make it more enjoyable to play. However, even if they did that, I still wouldn’t feel entitled to play in any rush. Why? The “Superfriends” get on my nerves quite a lot with their stereotypical cliches/archetypes. I really don’t give a kitten about them at all. IMO, even Destiny’s Edge was more likable and each character felt far more unique and fleshed out than these guys.

That’s probably because Destiny’s Edge wasn’t as forced, nor were they made to appeal to certain social justice warrior traits, which is a loud minority on the internet.

One study I recall reading about came to mind as I was thinking about these issues. An fMRI study in Science recently showed that social exclusion and rejection activates the same brain regions that subserve experience of (physical) pain.

Ref is: Eisenberger NI, Lieberman MD, Williams KD (2003). Does rejection hurt? An FMRI study of social exclusion. Science 302(5643):290-2. Pubmed: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/?term=williams+eisenberger+rejection

Most interestingly, the behavioural paradigm used for eliciting these feelings was a “video game” type protocol where the player could pass a ball amongst him/herself and two computer players. The computer players ultimately stopped passing the ball to the subject, eliciting feelings of exclusion and therefore pain.

Note that this was due to being rejected or not socially included. We are social creatures, and therefore, not including us in the “choices” of the story (switching back to GW2) can thus create similar feelings of exclusion, alienation, and pain that I’m trying to refer to.

That’s… actually kind of awesome to know, and it does go a long way towards explaining the problem.

That doesn’t exactly explain the problem, rather the results of what the playerbase is subjected to with every living story update. It’s more of the end result of everything. The problem has always been the writing, but now they’re taking it to a new level by trampling on established lore from the previous games.

Drooburt. Belinda’s death was obvious from the moment she was introduced. It feels like the personal story all over again, and I am not referring to the death of your mentor, but rather to the deaths of characters we are introduced to one mission that are instantly killed in the next.
I do not feel for an undeveloped character that is killed off for cheap pity, or to further the story along.

I do hope that Angel Mccoy takes what Shriketalon said to heart. There are many important pieces of information missing from the story that need an explanation, an IN GAME explanation, like how scarlet somehow united races that would’ve had no place following her (the flame legion do not follow women) or how the krait, an extremely xenophobic race to the point where they slaughter or enslave anything that isn’t them would unite with a bunch of talking plants, or how she has an almost unlimited army of these troops. Saying that “x” or “y” happened on the forums only is not the correct way to write a story. You cannot separate a part of the story from the main focus of where the story draws from. It would be like writing a book, skipping ahead multiple chapters, and then explaining what happened in between those chapters to a random fan that emailed the writer and asked.

Not everyone is on these forums to read the writer’s headcanon.

In addition, I do not think I am the only one that was displeased with the behavior of your “comrades” after you step out of the machine that drove scarlet mad. Braham was the only person that asked if the player character was okay, and he is quickly shoehorned out of the picture (again) to make room for taimi and kasmeer…making fun of your hair. As opposed to being concerned about whether or not the player character is about to go mad and kill everyone in the room.

The last thing I had a problem with was that note on the wall saying that there was an alliance between the centaurs and the kournan’s, which is FLAT OUT WRONG. One of the main heroes from Guild Wars: Nightfall, Zhed shadowhoof, is not afraid of mentioning the atrocities that humanity committed against his people. This should be basic knowledge for someone writing for this game.

Outside of the story missions, the writing for the general NPC’s in the area can be enjoyable, and I do hope to see more of the trio consisting of the two humans and the hylek.

The last time it happened I tried swapping mouses, to no avail. This is an issue with the game, and the last time I posted about this I didn’t receive a response. Not from here, not from support. I’d rather not be forced to rebind something as crucial as the camera. This isn’t a platformer from the early 90s, but I’ll be kitten ed if they aren’t trying.

Just posting this here, but signet of agility has been bugged since launch. You do not heal “x” amount of conditions per ally near you when using it. I forget if they just removed the trait in acrobatics that increased speed by 50% in stealth, but I do remember that it has never worked properly, either.

I’m a bit bitter about the constant nerfs to thief when we’re already the weakest profession to use in Spvp, but people are going to come here and complain about getting killed by a backstab thief in wub that’s most likely 30/30/0/0/10 and using food buffs.
Not that I blame the thief considering how little we do in comparison to other professions, and how to even come close to dealing as much damage as others we must use D/D or D/P, since every single other weapon set has been nerfed harder and harder into the ground while other professions receive buff after buff and become easier and easier to play. Spirit ranger, Hambow, Staff Necro, MM…there’s little to nothing to indicate any sort of skill level with anyone that uses these, and yet they’re still some of the most viable builds.

Thieves need more than useless grandmaster traits that give less HP back to the thief then the warrior’s healsig gives, passively, and other professions or builds such as the previously mentioned ones need a nerf. There needs to be a huge meta change, in general, as mindless play has become the meta. Professions shouldn’t be able to do so much by simply having passive abilities that require nothing on the player’s behalf.

I’ve had this happen to me before, and only in this game. the problem is that when I go to hold right click to move the camera around my character, the game will not recognize that I am holding right click and instead fail to turn the camera. The pointer will remain on screen. While this doesn’t happen 100% of the time, it happens enough to make it incredibly hard to play.

My mouse has been tested and the right click works fine in every other game but this one.

seeing as you get 3 weapons during working towards the final reward you get 3 two-handed weapons which are 390 tokens each if you wanted to get them from doing dungeons in pve. that would be 1170 tokens. it is 1380 tokens to get a whole armor set. so when it tells me I am going to get a set of armor, I believe it and that is what I should get

Well, that’s really inconvenient, is it not?

Yeah, it sort of is considering that’s exactly what it says you get on the box, and yet for some reason that’s not what’s contained in the box.

Hello, my friend recently completed the Arah track for Spvp, and upon receiving the box, that clearly states “Dungeon armor choice boxes contain a specific dungeon armor SET and a specific SET of stat combos.”
Now, despite the box claiming that he would receive a “SET” he instead received the option to choose just a single piece, not an entire set.

My question is, is this a bug, or another case of a literal box of lies, as it was with the box that was supposed to drop in fractals to award fractal weapons which hasn’t even been implemented yet?

I know that many others who eventually complete this and other title tracks will also be met with disappointment about not receiving what is clearly stated on the box. A set is not a singular item.

I feel like this is one of the few sane posts on these forums. Everywhere else there are people praising arenanet for removing the ability to run champion trains, nerfing the already incredibly poor dungeon loot, and essentially charging you to reuse skins you’ve bought prior. And we can’t forget that nerf to the berserker armor that doesn’t change the game in any meaningful way, outside of making it so coordinated groups take slightly more time to complete a dungeon.

I think the comparison to “battered wife syndrome” is an clever one, considering the amount of people on these forums that are praising arenanet for such asinine, pointless changes in favor of actual balance and permanent content.

This update would’ve been mediocre if AT LEAST the wardrobe didn’t require you to purchase something to use skins you’ve already bought, but it’s worse than mediocre at this point.

Something tells me this thread will be removed either way. Can’t have anyone criticizing poor development choices or business practices, no siree.

Pair the misleading announcement of the weapon box with the terribly disappointing WvW season chest rewards and… Wow. I’ve just experienced a the biggest let down I’ve had since playing SW:TOR. I don’t know whether to be disappointed or embarrassed.

I know that the developers work hard (and I respect that), but did anyone think about the repercussions of publicly introducing a highly desired item then following up the introduction with a, “not really, though,” type of statement?

What happened with the weapon box is similar to introducing a new zone to the game without actually making it accessible to the players. What happened with the WvW chest is similar to going to the company Christmas party and being told the meal served to you was your Christmas bonus, and it cost half the amount of money you spent on gas to get to the party.

C’mon, guys… I really wanna love this game and continue to enjoy it, but when stunts like this happen it makes me want to shut off the computer until another desirable MMO is released.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m still disappointed that we can’t even get those boxes yet. But at least we can attempt to get a random weapon skin still So that’s something.

So nothings’ changed, outside of the addition of making some fractals harder than they already were, without actually balancing anything that already existed in fractals prior to the update. Great.

Reread what she said. She said the Fractal Skin Boxes aren’t available yet. You can still get a random fractal weapon skin when you get the daily chest. The boxes let you choose the skin you want. Right now nothing has really changed. You still have a chance to get a random skin.

Oh good, so I can still at least -attempt- to get a weapon. That I’d want. Instead of having a chance at getting a box that’d let me pick the weapon that I’d want.

Can the incredibly small amount of permanent content that’s added with these living story releases not be time-gated nonsense? I’m getting the feeling that it’s going to take a few months to craft ascended armor, when one of the selling points of this game was that everyone would be on the same playing field as soon as they bought exotic. Obviously that was thrown out, but I think it’d be great if the little bits of the game that didn’t magically disappear after two weeks didn’t take longer than the living story update itself.

And I’d really like to see the living story actually have an effect on the world, again avoiding the magical disappearing content problem that’s been happening. Maybe orr could finally be cleansed and we can move on to conquering other, actual threats?

And hopefully avoiding anymore mary-sue esque characters.
And really hopefully avoiding anymore slyvari main characters.

noticed that i had to rip boons off of a guardian in order to soften it up with S/D on my thief…was with another guardian, we were against a mesmer and a guard. both repplaied boons without a problem, really glassy however i dont see where S/D Larcenous needs a change at all if its a negative change…if anything it needs a buff , a slgiht buff to actually assist in softening up targets more, theyll just easily reapply buffs without a problem..
WHERE…is Larcenous “OP”…seems to be Underpowered if anything.

Pretty much this exactly, in its current state you can burn all your resources cleaning someone of boons, and 3 seconds later the guard/ele/eng/mesmer will have full stacks of everything again while your at maybe 20% initiative. Thats why it was not a worthwhile counter before the buff, and it will again be worthless if its changed as suggested

That is just not true.

Nice counter argument! :P

If they’re going to nerf larcenous strike again, they’d better make it faster, or cost less initiative, because as it is now, it’s a total initiative drain and it’s really slow compared to the old flanking strike, even though the old flanking strike only stripped one boon, it was inexpensive and quick. The nerf to Larcenous strike could make it almost worthless.

Well it was quite obviously false. If you want to argue for changing something, you should actually make real statements.

You aren’t making real statements and aren’t backing up your arguments in the slightest. Saying what he said is “false” is only your opinion, and nothing more. That would be like saying “you suck” to someone that you don’t even know and without listing reasons as to why they suck.

Would love to see a change to Ranger Longbow’s Rapid Shot, feels so weak and out of place for a slow long bow, would be awesome if it were more like killshot that rooted you to cast.

Stealth into killshot-esque skill would be so satisfying.

Could even make the stealth shot apply vuln like Thief’s cloak n dagger.

Could also make thief’s dagger 1200 range like hunters shot

Only when Hunters Shot becomes spammable and hits like a truck. =p

CnD costs 6 init. thats half our weapon resources, how about when you use hunters shot you get 3x more damage than now and a couple stacks of vuln, but one entire weapon set goes on CD (init is shared for both weapon sets, 6 init is the same as losing an entire weapon set)

You thieves man..

CnD also hits like a truck, I said that already, not to mention how accessible the trait that makes it cost only 2-4 init is.

My point of moving Vuln from #2 Longbow to Hunter’s Shot would be for synergy, Hunter’s applies vuln to aid in set up dmg coming out of stealth the way CnD does (except CnD hits hard as well).

Again, this would be MOVING the existing vuln stacks from #2, to #3… you’d have to do an extra attack just to get that vuln back… so yeah. I’m not just adding vuln application to the weapon set out of no where, it already has vuln application.

It costs 6 initiative regardless of what traits we use, it just happens that we can get some back after landing it. That is, if we’re able to land it, since we have to be in melee range to do so. Which is why it hits harder then hunter’s shot, since there’s more risk involved.

However, these packs are greatly punishing to those that collect the miniatures, since they must buy the pack twice to get every single one. They’ve been doing this for a while, so isn’t it time to just sell the fourth miniature with the pack, or make it apart of the actual event instead of making it so you have to destroy the miniatures you just bought just to obtain the one?

Just a thought. That’ll go ignored, most likely.

Why are Elementalist cooldowns so long? Even the utility (6 to 0 keybound) skills have ridiculous cooldowns. 90 seconds for Armour of Earth???

Couldn’t agree with you more. But lets start with a few small things. I pointed out a possibility that I think would be a nice fix for mesmer’s with mantra’s, but I would also like to see feedback as well. I think the reason long utility cooldowns exist in ele is because they have 25 weapon skills to filter through instead of 10 like the rest of us….just saying. I agree Ele is very squishy class, perhaps a trait to increase the duration of some utility/defensive skills might balance the long recharge?

Yeah, eles do lack traits like that. In fact, most of their traits are mediocre attunement specific ones.

Well those traits are ridiculous, for examples: toughness bonus when attuned to earth.
Seriously, what is it going to change in a battle that for the 2-3 second I am attuned to earth that I get an extra 3-4% toughness? Maybe 20% would do a difference.

Attunement specific traits would be fine if it was actually possible to use a mono or duo-attunement reliant build. Unfortunately they did such a terrible job on the class mechanic that no such build can be reliable without copious investment into the very trait tree which is specifically designed for swap-heavy builds!

Seriously, who thought this up? And what were they on?

Hi group, my name is Cowboy and I am a P/P Thief.

I’m happy to hear the devs are looking into Thief P/P. From the posts on these forums it seems a good number of people like a ranged playstyle with their Thieves.

There’s a couple issues with P/P and ranged combat with Thieves that I think are very important.

Vital Shot – Pistol #1
The skill is suppose to take 0.5s, but with after cast it is over 0.75s. Others on the forums have done more accurate testing than me. This needs to be fixed cause a Thief Pistol fires as fast or slower than a Warrior’s Rifle. It makes players rely on Unload as their main damage skill, rather than a source of quick burst.

Body Shot – Pistol #2
I hope this is the mainhand pistol skill you are looking into regarding support options. Nobody likes the Vulnerability. What many Thieves want to see is Body Shot become a Blast finisher. Alternatively, it could add an evasive leap backwards and be a Leap finisher similar to Heartseeker. This would give P/P more defensive options and mobility.

Range
Both WvW and PvE have many circumstances where having a 1200 range weapon matters. I would really like to see a trait added that gives either Shortbow or Pistol 1200 range. We are the only profession without a 1200 range weapon, which seems quite an error for a game that was trying to be flexible and do away with the existing paradigm.

Thanks and I look forward to the updates!
-Cowboy

What this guy said, maybe increasing the speed of vital shot and giving it vulnerability stacks instead of bleed stacks… Make body shot be a leap backward evasion or do more damage at close range or something to that effect… I suppose an immobilize effect would also work.

also

My thief fully heals while stealthed…

still going at it?

Nah, I don’t think an immobilize would do much of anything since they’ll probably only make it last one second or something dumb for a higher initiative cost. Hopefully they don’t do that, I’d rather see a backwards leap or an evade or something that makes pistol/pistol viable and not a death sentence.

So what do you think the new pistol skill will be? I’m guessing it’s gonna be an immobilize, or something tacked on to body shot, since body shot is pretty useless with that short-lasting vuln on what’s normally used as a condition applier, since P/P is essentially suicide due to the traits needed to make it so you can spam unload, and poorly, I might add.

No, you obviously don’t know how to play your thief then.

It’s by far the easiest and most forgiving class to level (next to necro). I can literally take on 20 mobs.

Don’t assume I don’t know what I’m doing and I won’t assume you’re an elitist that doesn’t know what they’re talking about either, kk?

If you knew then you wouldn’t have said what you said…

It’s not being elitist, it’s called a fact, you don’t see me calling you names.

You insulted his skill level by saying “You don’t know how to play your thief then”, which isn’t a fact, it’s an opinion of yours, just saying.

I think what concept has been trying to say is that there’s no direct counters to stealth, up until rangers get the “Sic Em” skill. As in, you push a button, suddenly stealth is gone.
I’d like to make a suggestion for something that allows me to strip the passive effects of a warrior’s signet, or to shatter multiple mesmer clones or destroy minions at the push of a button (which, funny enough, were actual skills in the original game, except you just took control of them, or blew up one depending on which skill you used).
Or, to take another queue from the original game, have a way to where I can disrupt a target’s stance as the original game also had.

The boon/strip boon metagame is getting rather old.

If Arena.net was to sum all the posts in one gigantic post, it would read, “Thief class core mechanics Nerf is Overdue!” – “slap on the wrist Nerf” is not allowed.

Arena.net, isn’t it too obvious.. the only class who gets the most Injustice Backlash in all thiefis blance/stealth thread is the thief class?

Than if it isn’t obvious, than why you remain Silent and continue in Justifying and Contributing (behind the sceen) more overpower tools to this Injust Overpower class?

Not forgetting intentionally rewarding this class with more undeserving rewards.
Torment, "does that ring a bell’?

After 1 year+, i realize all these great posts and threads concerning thief overpowerdness are just another trash to be thrown in the trashcan.

So many wonderful and beautiful ideas in oppinions, suggestion and recommendations to thief class balance and adjustments, are just reasons for Arena.net to reward them more.

As i stated many times already, “Thief is Arena.net” and Warrior is thier “side-kick”.

In other word, we are all “kitten”

So to the remaining non-Favorite justice blelieves, what are our options,

Should we continue in believing anything these Ego-savy Selfish Prideful Injustice Practicioners have to say? or "turn the other cheek or even; as the saying goes, “Turn away from those who practice Injustice and follow those who Emcbraces Justice”?

You have the power.
You hold the answer.
The choice is in ur hands..

I’m sorry, is this satire?

Of all the classes in this game, thief would be the #1 choice to go full zerker if you decide to play a zerker class… just don’t be stupid enough to zerg in groups, duh

Actually, you’re a lot safer in a group zerg then roaming solo as a berserker, as the large amount of players on either end provides a better cover for actually doing damage.

And most thief players will go zerker/valk anyways, since our class has hardly any build diversity.

you don’t cover from anything, you have stealth for that.

yeah stealth for maximal 11 secs with standing still 5secs wow 0.o impressive. you are mixing too many builts in your complaints (backstab is D/D, the nerf goes to S/D, the “perma” invis is D/P) and i dont even bring out the traits you are also mixing.

As a thief i dont want a buff tbh the nerf is most for sPvP so i can look over it all i want is a rework of “steal” and more possibility playstyles with the weapons we already have…… i and think even other classplayer could agree with that

you have 10sec of stealth in a normal BS builds from refuge, this isn’t enough to disengage whole zergs?

Whole zergs? Are you serious?
A whole zerg would just nuke the refuge before you have a chance to leave it. You’d die with no say in the matter. Refuge isn’t an instant ten seconds of stealth, you have to stand in it for five or six seconds, and that’s way more then enough time to get killed while standing in that little space. A single GS warrior can do that, but an entire zerg would have you down before you even get a chance to cast it.

It’s a lot more obvious as to where a lone thief will be if he stealths then it is if he’s in a zerg, and even moreso if he does stealth.

doesn’t matter. you have extremely long lasting stealth from refuge and can climb up cliffs with infiltrator arrow to lose your target

That’s if a competent player doesn’t just pull or push you out of refuge, and you can’t scale cliffs with infiltrator’s arrow, as much as I’d like that. There’s very few areas of the game where infiltrators will bring you to an area that’s above you.

“Successfully killing the target(s) isn’t as easy” are ppl for real with this? Stealth+burst+CnD stomp and move to another target…. what you say? you failed to burst? well that’s cool cuz i can CnD, couple of hearseekers from target to gain space+refuge and get out to then re-burst again. So hard.

It seems you’re operating under the assumption that our target is standing still, and we’re both in full zerker gear.

A WvW thief (a good one) does not run full zerker gear, I personally run full Valkyrie for WvW.

you should never rely on gear to judge some1’s skill, zerker has nothing to do with me, you or some1 else being bad, just sayin.

Then why are you saying that a thief can just c/d-backstab-heartseekerheartseeker-stomp, when the only time this would be applicable is when you’re fighting a low armor class using berserker gear?

well that’s just false. the thief nor the enemy need to be “low armor class using berserker gear” to go passed 6k backstabs (especially in wvw with food and bloodlust). Not only that but you have access to spammable evades on S/D.

Using food buffs while being full zerker with a 10/30/30 trait set up, the most I’ve ever crit is about 6k. And that’s only in world versus world, Spvp it’s incredibly rare to see a backstab go up that high. And that 6k is hardly anything about most classes, other then other thieves.

And you aren’t going to be able to backstab while using S/D, and those evades are a lot shorter then that of a ranger’s or the normal dodge roll, which means a thief’s timing has to be impeccable to actually use it effectively as a dodge. With the increased initiative cost you can’t spam it, either.

I hold that elementalists and thieves are equally weak while levelling until they receive their traits as well.

Wow… no, just no.

Don’t you even go there, you obviously aren’t playing correctly.

Thief is probably by far the most efficient and easiest class to solo/level with and Elementalist is probably the hardest.

Nah, wrongo. Thief is pretty easy to level using Sword/Pistol, I’d have to say the easiest is again, the pve king, warrior, while mesmer is definitely the hardest, or at least the most tedious. Most mesmer players say that their class doesn’t become fun until about level forty or so.

Don’t even try to deny that a thief is the easiest class to play… even skull crack/100swags warrior is harder and that is telling a lot. im also rank 32 in spvp so i’ve played enough of this crappy pvp as well. I also noticed something, ppl that play only thief will rarely agree that the class is broken but another player that is skilled and plays a thief (as his main) but also plays other classes and is good with them will most certainly agree that thief is unbalanced in its current state. If it was me i’d remove all stealth and stealth related traits from that game and rework thief completely (of course this will never happen). the game is supposed to be skill vs skill and not skill vs nothing cuz the thief just refuged and heartseeker across the map.

I too believe that thief needs a re-work, I don’t know if removing stealth is the way to go about it. But your complaints are about our class design, not thieves in general, you’re not asking for nerfs, you’re asking for fundamental changes to our class (which 9/10 thieves would agree with) if you’re telling me that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agpikmObUxs that requires no skill, even to get that amount of positioning, in and out of combat and to take advantage of the classes mobility (those are the skills that we develop, and those ARE skills, because its how our class was designed to play). Then I can’t say much beyond “you are off your rocker.”

I’m guessing these people are “off their rockers” then, since they’ll all just continue to downplay the entirety of the thief class by saying it’s just “stealth and button mashing”.
I guess that makes mesmer “Clones and button mashing”
Or ranger “spirits and button mashing”
Or necromancer “wells and button mashing”
Or warrior “signets and button mashing”
Oh wait, that last one is true, sorry.

And that “least amount of risk for the greatest amount of reward” is complete trite. One mistake as a thief, a missed cloak and dagger, an ill-timed dodge, can mean…

…that you have to break the brainless DPS combo any four year old could do in order to drop in to stealth, and run away like pig-tailed little girl? Exactly, no risk.

What “brainless DPS combo” is there, exactly? Cloak and dagger, backstab, autoattack? Is that even a combo?
And did you even read what I said? Miss cloak and dagger. No stealth. Oh look, cc. Oh look, dead.
Especially if you’re forced into fighting a group.

And it’s funny how you mention “brainless DPS combos” when other professions, such as the warrior, the mesmer, and the necromancer all have actual combos that are not only easier to pull off, but also have less risk involved, since thieves actually have to be in melee range to even do damage to their target. Warriors do, too, but considering how they heal about 2k health every five second and their larger armor class, it wouldn’t be a fair comparison to what a thief has to do to stay in melee range.

I wish people saying that “thief is a skilless class” would play something other then world versus world to base their opinions on.

You know, the place where the main objective is to follow around some player with a big blue icon over his head in extremely large groups to capture points.

Where player skill is essentially at it’s lowest.

People who say that thief is the easiest class to play in the game have either not have played the class, or have played against players that don’t know what they’re doing. Players with a very low skill level.

And that “least amount of risk for the greatest amount of reward” is complete trite. One mistake as a thief, a missed cloak and dagger, an ill-timed dodge, can mean the end of your run as a thief player. Other professions have so many stuns, knockdowns, and other general crowd control skills that sometimes it won’t be possible to restealth and position yourself to get back in the fight. A thief has to know what he is doing to be able to win against someone in a fight. It isn’t as simple as “Cloak and dagger, backstab, heartseekerheartseekerheartseeker” like people who knock on thieves make it out to be. And those that do get killed by those kind of plays are not only bad players, but they’re getting killed by bad thieves as well.
