Just to not make an “only rant” post…

What I like of DE:
-The general amount of stealth this spec got (Shadow Gust + Shadow Meld)
-The trait “perfectionist” and his attempt toward a sustained thief
-The trait “maleficent 7” (COOLEST NAME EVER)

What I dislike of DE:
-Rifle AA is garbage
-Rifle 4 too clunky
-Rifle 5 is like an self immobilize
-Cast time on steal
-Stolen item are garbage
-The heal cooldown, way too long
-The fact that I can use DrD w/o staff, but DE w/o rifle is a subpar core thief
-The fact that even with rifle DE look like just a troll spec

Try this one, abuse dodge for survivability and abuse fire + air proc for damage. Keep in mind that power S/D isn’t a zerg build, so use it for roam purpose only. If you meet a d/p teef play smart and take your time, because he can counter you, so play around infiltrator strike/return to not stay on the same place for too long. This build lack condi removal, because you do not need it, if they hit you it’s your fault. Good luck.

PS: You can swap “Roll for initiative” for “Bandit’s defense”

No ports anymore?

Today I tried to port on usual spots and they didn’t work.
E.g. Temple of silent storm, temple point – can’t port (blink) on sides. Still can do it on altar point. Battle of Kyhlo – can’t port on midpoint sides from north, west, east but still can do it from south… Mb more broken maps/spots
Did only me experience this? It is big nerf for some classes.

Not only PvP even WvW got some problem, for example the bridge on the camp near Bay Keep in the Alpine Border, I can’t port there anymore. Plese do a 360 investigation.

Larcenous Strike + Steal: Since Flanking strike doesn’t actually have to hit the target to give access to the chain skill, you can use it as an evade. Then precast LS and steal as the cast is about to hit.

We’re putting in two small changes in this release that might open up additional options for pistol main-hand and sword builds

  • Infiltrator’s Strike: The range of this ability has been increased from 600 to 900 in PvP only. Immobilize duration has been increased from 1 to 1.5 seconds in PvP only.

I don’t want to sound too harsh so I’ll start saying thanks for the try, but you really need to play this game because you look like you lack profession knowledge.. If you want to give sword a chance as a viable build (not only in PvP but in WvW too), you definitely have to redo some of the nerf you land on it (after HoT those nerf become too heavy).

Let me help you just a little bit:

1) Remove casting time from Infiltrator’s Return. (global)
2) You can use Larcenous Strike even if Flanking Strike doesn’t land on the target (pvp only/Global)
3) Pistol Whip casting time reduced to 0,5s/0,25s (pvp only)
4) Bring Larcenous Strike cost back to 1 initiative (pvp only)
5) Reduce Infiltrator’s Strike cost to 2 initiative (global)

Not every 1st generation legen got a cool long lasting footfalls, for example, do you ever saw Rodgort or Quip footfalls? Me neither. Plus the new legen got amazing draw fx/Aura, just see how cool Astralarium “cosmic arm” effect is when compared to the one provided by Frostfang or Rodgort.

Thanks for your replies, guys. I forgot to mention that i don’t have HoT yet. I’m gonna buy it next week. And looks like that without HoT there is no profession who can perform well in PvP?

Condi Warrior and Mender’s Guardian can be effective even w/o HoT, maybe condi necro too..

So just to see if I’m right.. Thief is the hardest to master and still the profession that require more skill to be played? Because I doesn’t agree with that, in fact, thief mechanics is very simple to understand, the reason why it is so effective is because players in this game are really “bads” and refuse to play all the classes,.. So they aren’t just “bads”, they lack knowledge too.

IMHO the hightest skill cap goes to all the class with tons of skill, like engi/mesmer/necro/ele.. Just because the more you can use the more you have to learn to know how to properly use (I hope this last sentence have some kind of sense for who read).

On the other side the skill level table are pretty accurate for me.

Everyone knows Guardians are too rewarding in regards to how easy they are to play.

Every 2-3 matches I end up in a match with 5, 6 or even 7 guards!
They cover the cap points with traps, it’s totally breaking the game mode.
If that’s not an indication of how broken they are I don’t know what is.

Necro can cover point with marks, so are they broken too? I know what it is.. a l2p issue

Warriors, Thieves, Guards, Revs and Rangers currently just obliterate every other class.

ahahahahahaha oh boy, you can’t be serious.. Thieves and guardians are well know to be pug stomper, nothing more.. It’s true that the recent buff on guardians make them really durable with mender’s amulet and now they can hold point for long enough to be a problem, but there is no way they can kill any half decent player.

So, your solution is to going back to the “less” broken matchmaking?! Well, thanks for the effort.

During Season 2 and 3 we added two league features that greatly impacted your ability to climb: start-of-season division placement based on previous season performance and win/lose streak pips, and both of these features will remain enabled for Season 4.

You noticed how this feature add weight on an already horrible pvp system and you let them enabled.

Sry bro but to play GW2 effectively you shouldn’t build around what you enjoy but more around what is unbalanced at a given moment.. And power, right now, is restricted just to few classes and even that classes have easiest time running hybrid build (of course this is my opinion)

1 Win 2 Lose.. The whole time.. Anet can you really call this s3 an improvement? I’m a decent solo player and I really need to understand… I mean I already got the legendary backpack, so there aren’t many reason for me to play spvp, but sometimes I want to test my skill in a “competitive” format and I always end up regretting this choice…

In the first pic you didnt face premade, and in the second you did because you were in the same team with duo premade. So it’s just bad luck. Because premade team (2-5 players are matched against other premade team. You were just unlucky to be in 2 player premade team.

The first and the second pics are the same match dude…
Honestly I don’t care if I had a duo in my team, every time I get closer to the next tier the unbalance happen and I have to face premade or I have to play with 3 thief in my team.
If a solo player choose to play ranked he shouldn’t ever face a full premade team.. A 2/3 man’s party should be enought!

Dear Anet,
I’m a WvW player and the legendary backpack is the only reason I’m playing PvP. I truly hate almost everything about this mode, I never enjoyed a single fight expecially in this [add a bad word] meta.. The climb is already hard.. Can you, at least, explain why you place solo player against a full premade group? THANKS.

Skills damaging you after stealthing

If you look at unrelenting assult you will see the channel time is only 3/4s. Even if you stealth at this point the channel will finish and the first strike of the ability will still hit you if you are still within range. It behaves very differently, more like binding roots than a channrled skill.

Could it be changed, probably. Would it be to much effort realistically for them to do, probably. Would it mean stealth needs more counterplay, probably. Would anet break more things than it would fix…again probably.

Good point man, in fact, fixing a problem is never an easy task and I’m not a developer (so no idea on how to do that) but you have to admit, heatseeking pewpew is a pretty bad concept overall..

No it’s not about time I dealth with it yet you Fatty. There is no logic in a ranger’s rapid fire being heatseeking. And it being said before doesn’t mean we should stop putting pressure about broken kitten in the game, not all of us are conformist sheep like you.

Just to bring some contribution.. Revenant’s Unrelenting Assault stops if you enter stealth, the other skills should do the same.

1. Duel based arena for 1v1, 2v2. (Are you scared to show how bad balance is? :>)
2. Allow queueing in open world/WvW.
3. Split balance on skills in PvP/PvE/WvW.
4. Don’t allow class changing in a ranked match and limit class stacking.
5. King of The Hill, CTF, Deathmatch, Juggernaut.. there are ALOT of awesome game mode and you give us Stronghold?…. Really Anet?!

I would be interested in hearing thoughts (with the high-level goals from the blog in-mind) on adding/removing various sigils/amulets/runes. In general, our goal for PvP is to be faster-paced with a higher-level of lethality than what we’re seeing in S1.

Adjust Celestial Amulet by lowering the stats (for me you can remove it, but you already nerf DS and I don’t want to hear elementalist QQ)
Remove Settler Amulet
Remove Superior Rune of Durability
Remove Superior Rune of the Herald
Remove Superior Rune of the Water
Remove Superior Rune of the Earth

Basically Retaliatory Subconscious is retaliation on cc every 30 sec with Hunter’s Determination on.. I feel the smart design behind create two identical traits and not allow them to stack their most important function (aegis)

edit: I don’t want aegis to stack, ofc, but maybe remove RS for something different would be an option.

This is a massive reduction — over 58%. I can’t find any references to this as a planned change.

This isn’t true man only the tooltip is bugged.. The heal, in fact, is 3,9k.. just look at your combat log and you will see!

Are you talking about new map man? Because even with “standard” guardian a couple of pocket raptor can melt my kitten easily.. Don’t be so drastic DH it’s not so bad, imho the only horrible thing is the spec’s name…

Confirmed. Only weaknesses are PvP, Fractals and Raids.

PvP: I had no problem at all in spvp, in fact I win some flame too
Fractals: You mean 30+, because I can do low levels naked with a wood stick
Raids: You are probably right , DH is a selfish spec.. not something I want to bring for helping my team

You know the answer and let me told you something, I prefer a quiet Devs doing his job then a daily reply about nothing.. plus remember how bad DH is atm, give Karl some time to fix it then ask for core.. he is human he can’t do tons of things at same time (oh gosh am I defending Karl? kitten !)

Well, here is hoping Roy shared the feedback about Brutal Blade with Karl… seeing as Sword Wave was the #1 cited example as to why that change needed to happen.

Maybe not at launch but I believe this is an upcoming change

Guys, let’s be fair: Yes, traps are awful, and DH is lacking sorely, and this sucks, but it was a bug. It needed to be fixed.

The problem IMHO is not the fix, clearly necessary, but the lack of transparence.. Karl never spent a single word on trap and the first time I can read something about it, is in the THIEF SUB-FORUM and all about a NERF..

this leave me really sad.. if I can I’ll insta change him for everyone else..

Alas, it was indeed a bug and needed to be fixed. A single skill that deals that much damage (from being CC’d, nonetheless) was a bit much. Sleight of hand was your best friend this last weekend in PvP.

Zealot’s Defense needs to be buffed because:

-Whirlind Wrath deals more dmg
-Whirlind Wrath deals AOE dmg
-Whirlind Wrath doesn’t root you
-Whirlind Wrath has 5sec less cooldown

Awesome logic here, we gotta pay a self root, a single target lower dmg, a longer cooldown, for what? Oh yes “block projectiles” which is about as useful as shield before the buff.
Not to mention it’s not a finisher and the 600 range is not correct since as soon as 300 it gets obstructed.
They should at least remove the self root component.
