Skills, traits, equipments(Runes/sigil/Amulets) should never have unlocks in sPvP. It does nothing to teach players anything you intended and all it does is make sPvP much more annoying.

Already there is a ton of traits and skills. Putting unlockables on a small few won’t do a thing to make this game easier to understand. If it must happen, you have to put unlocks on every single trait and skills to teach newer players. But that will kill the game already more than it should have to. This is like teaching a child Algebra, Geometry, Calculus all at the same time before you can teach them Addition and subtraction. It is ineffective in teaching newer players and more effective in hurting sPvP.

So stop with the unlockables. Remove the unlockables and focus more on more important sPvP stuff.

  • Quality Dynamic events, not Quantitative. Quality Dynamic event is one of the strength of Guild Wars 2 and it is extremely fun. Do not abandon this design. Story-driven Dynamic events makes it less like a grind and more of a adventure. Why do Aetherblades appear out of nowhere? Dialogues helps a lot. I rather have 20 good Dynamic events every week than 100 grindy ones. Have those 20 DE be the achievements required to finish the Living Story achievements instead of killing 100 stuff.
  • I found that exploration in Zephyr Sanctum fun. I didn’t like finding the Tequalt stuff in Tequalt rising.
  • First Halloween scavenger hunt was fun because of quality Dynamic events. I prefer if it was linear so that I don’t have to port as much. Waypointing is immersion breaking.
  • No more Scarlet, she is the Jar Jar Binks of GW2. Instead, I want to kill more Dragons.

EDIT: I want to be the hero! I want to be the hero of the living story, I want it to revolve around me!

Mechanics require organization but it has no tools to encourage organization.

Just turn it to Arcing Smash.

Arcing Smash- The warrior smashes his blade onto the ground which grants fury to himself and nearby players while damaging nearby enemies.

This is intended to give a free cleansing Ire. Greatsword should be a utility weapon like the bow. The GreatHamsword will be mobile but it lacks range capabilities. While the Hambow lacks mobility.

Cull visual clutter on other people

Please reduce visual clutter on other people instead of mine like how FFXIV does it. This means, that I see my super good looking fireball, while I see other people fireball as the weak version. Other people will see my weak version fireball while they see their own big fireball.

This will make my fireball look substantial while reducing visual clutter.

The Barber NPC is a vendor that lets you preview your new hair/body. It uses the same interface as the self-style kit. However, If you want to get the new look, you will have to pay with the Self-style kit.

Why? Because I want to know what I want to look before I change my style.

Why should ANet add this? Because ANet can expect more money off of self-styling kits.

Remove waypoint cost from every single zone, not just cities.

The huge problem with waypoint cost is that it taxes exploring instead of grinding. Which is wrong with Guild Wars 2.

But then, you’ll say “gold sink!” or “Waypoint cost is cheap!

Lets be honest, the most profitable activity is not exploring or going out into the world. It is dungeons or farming, which both are hit very low from waypoint cost. So in order to make money, you have to work long enough to make the waypoint cost miniscule. If you want to have fun by exploring, you have to have money and sometimes the cost to travel hinders the enjoyment for traveling. The money you get from Dynamic Events is so little compared to one run of any dungeon. Every dungeon, you can get around 1g. If you explore around a lower level zone, you’ll be lucky to get 20 silver at the end of the day but waypoints will eat all that money up in no time at all.

Black Lion TP is a better goldsink than waypoint. Repair cost in dungeons definitely make a good goldsink as well.

tl;dr: Don’t tax fun. Remove waypoint cost.

I disagree on roles. I don’t want LFG to devolve into: “LF SHADOW REFUGE THIEF! LF SHADOW REFUGE THIEF! LF SHADOW REFUGE THIEF!”

What really needs to happen is that every single skill in the game should be important at least once per a fight.

Cripple, immobilization, chill, stuns, poison, bleeds, heals, aegis, regeneration, vigor, that unreliable launch that guardians have, that long cooldown sanctuary that guardian has, that worthless kick that warriors have, etc.

All of them skills should be useful at any point of time. If there is a random build generator, every single build that comes out should all be useful in some ways or another.

This means reworking the dungeons, the mobs, and the boss. A single mob battle should be similar to PvP, where CC is useful. Mobs actually care for their own and try to save their dying allies. Mobs will never let your dying party member go scot free. Mobs that randomly burst out of nowhere to change the tide of battle. etc etc….

I don’t like trinity because it looks ridiculous.

One guy keeps 20 lizard soldiers on him while 3 other guys slash them/shoot them/bomb them safely and one guy keep healing to keep that one guy alive.

It looks stupid visually. One of the lizard soldiers should probably attack the dps/healer to end the battle faster.

This is mainly to incentivize wearing town clothes. Many suggestions want to force people to wear town clothing when entering town, but this suggestion make players want to wear town clothing themselves.

These town clothes runes will not work at WvW and will not affect combat.

Superior Rune of <Insert craft>

  • Increases crafting speed,
  • Chance to return a common material back
  • More exp for crafting.

Minor Rune of tourism

  • Increases speed by 20%. When swapping out of town clothes, the rune goes in a 240 second cooldown.

Minor Rune of the Miner

  • 10% chance to mine an extra ore.

Minor Rune of the Logger

  • 10% chance to cut down an extra log.

Minor Rune of the Harvester

  • 10% chance to harvest an extra herb.

Minor Rune of Community Helping

  • 100% chance to gain an extra quest trophy(For hearts and Dynamic events).

Minor Rune of the Feast

  • Summoned feast will give an extra hour of duration.

Minor Rune of the Wrench

  • Summoned Nourishments(Maintenance station) will give an extra hour of duration.

  • Incentive for ANet to make more and more town clothes.

Something for solo/small roamers to do that can help their server win:

  • Players first capture enemy camp.
  • Players then escort friendly dolyaks to enemy keep.
  • This way, the dolyak bombs the enemy supplies and reduce the progress that is upgrading the keep. the damage will be small so that zergs shouldn’t waste time escorting dolyaks one by one.

This way, camps become very important to strategy. It isn’t meant to be rewarding in the short term, but when the camp is held and escorted for a long time, it can weaken a keep/tower very much.

Please make dailies feel more natural

PvE Dailies feel very forced and grindy. You have to look at the list and see if you did the checklist and then go back to what is fun for you.

Unlike the PvP laurels, you get it naturally if you play for fun. You can forget about the dailies and then a treasure chest pops up.

You can’t do that in PvE dailies. They are regional bound or make you do things that aren’t really fun for you. Even if you do it naturally, you’ll only finish like one or two things.

Please redesign PvE dailies so that they would feel very natural if you forget about it. I don’t care about the length.

My suggestion:

  • Add natural daily activities that would be natural for all PvE mode types(Dungeons, Open-world, Boss farm). These will take 1-2 hours to complete.
  • Regional bound activities will take 15 minutes to complete the required amount of activities.

I feel that this will improve GW2 very well as it caters to all style. If players want to play casually without having to be forced to look at the daily checklist, the option of playstyle is there. If players want to do the dailies as fast as possible and is willing to do it in a checklist form, the option is there. Want to do both? Sure, there is the option for that too. So no, I am not suggesting that dailies be easy but that there is the option to make dailies feel natural to complete.

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

Unlocking your elite spec is a training line in your training panel that costs hero points. You do need to have trained all the existing training lines before you’re allowed to put hero points into your elite spec.

If you’ve got all the hero points in the existing game you’ll have enough to train about half the elite specialization training line on launch day. The rest you’ll need to earn in the jungle or via the new system Tyler outlined yesterday from WvW. The number of points to fully train your elite spec is higher than other training lines – but hero challenges in the jungle are worth 10 points each, so it’s not actually as big as it appears.

This is disgustingly grindy.

I think there is a place for DPS. But the problem is, that there isn’t a place for the rest. I think the developers need to take a long hard look at the PVE, and try to think of a way to make the other roles fit in. And that means giving support and control more effectiveness, and more importance in PVE. Especially during boss fights.

I think PvE developer should take a long hard look at sPvP and then analyze how they can make PvE closer to sPvP. Developers should ask the question to themselves, how can I make mobs battles similar as players fighting players?

Skills are balanced directly for sPvP thus, AI needs to be like players.

Examples:

Mobile Mobs chase down players with the lowest hp like thieves chasing down low hp players.
Mobs stopping a burst/spike before it happens(Blocking, Weakness, invulnerability, stomp.)
Mobs actively mitigating damage and Mobs that can heal(Which replaces the large hp pool.)
Mobs coordinating such as immobilize → burst a player down.
Mobs that grant boons to make themselves much more dangerous. These boons will make mobs more dangerous.

and much more.

Anet could look into the meta builds in sPvP and design new mobs to fight like similar.

I want to fight a mob that fights like a D/D ele rather than a punching bags that farts red circles everywhere.

And I agree that bosses should have more phases, so the players cannot mindlessly punch the boss to death. DPS shouldn’t be the only thing that matters.

I disagree with phases. What bosses should do is change tactic midway and more variety of skills and tactics to deal in a given situation.

Player with low hp? Kill him!
About to die? Escape and heal!
Stunned? Use a stun-break.
Bleeding? Use condition removal.
etc etc.

Won't be getting Legendary armor!

to be fair i have a job too but a boyfriend that plays gw with me.
anyway the raids don’t require 8 hours a day. our guild dedicate 2 hours 3 days a week to the raids. the raid don’t reset daily, so you have a full week to complete it.
really it’s not a matter of time. although it is a fair matter of skill, so i would suggest not to pug it.
there are a lots of video about those fights that you can watch in your spare time to see what your role can be.
and finally, as you described how you play, you really don’t need a legendary armor, actually, no one needs one to be fair. even though you should be able to switch stat with it, the way you play i don’t think you change build that often and you can always try new builds in exotic

I don’t think it’s so much about time required, it’s more about commitment.

if a raid is scheduled at certain time, you better be there, else you won’t have a slot next time.

yes, it’s like when you decide to hang out with friends, you decide to commit a night out with them and to do so you don’t pick other dates with other people…
but you hang out in a mmo instead. but i don’t see why it is ok to go to the cinema and not ok to decide to spend 2 hours in a raid

Yes its like hanging out with friends. Except there is a 10 man limit. You cannot bring more than 10 people and any less would make the movie reset over and over again. Then when you bring 10 people, you have to make sure their movie equipment is best in slot and they have to have a different role otherwise the movie will reset to the beginning.

Missing the point – the post. You’re still hanging out with friends (ideally, if you don’t pug).

Bob have 12 friends, Bob has to tell 2 other friends to kitten off or he can’t watch the movie.

Ellen has 3 friends, she has to find 7 other friends or she can’t watch the movie.

Full Zerkers ONLY!

I really want all sorts of gear to be viable and optimal, not just Zerk.

So that in speedruns it become more efficient to have teams that have a variety of gear rather than everyone with full DPS. I would like to see organized group/pugs have a hard time with zerk gear so that it can actually be treated as a challenge. Wearing cleric shouldn’t make the run harder than wearing full zerk.

Challenge run → Full Zerk gear, a very great challenge even for organized group. Then these groups can wear their kitten with pride.

Speedrun → Requires a variance of gear, tactics and a team build compilation to work.

PuG run → Expect a variety of builds, group have to figure out what tactic they want to do.

Some DnT keyboard warrior might cry “Lupi, Lupi, Lupi” or “support,support,support!!!”

Lupi ain’t hard. Soloing him isn’t hard either after the first few times. Support in this game isn’t very deep at all. Reflect and condi removal are the only major ones needed while other support skills are very minor.

Someone might ask, Show me your “Speedclear videos!!11!!” I don’t care about getting 2 minutes in a CM dungeon. It doesn’t really mean anything except how much dps your group have and how much your team can skip the dungeon.

I believe yes. In PvP, A variety of gear for different build is made over there instead of everyone being full Zerk. If ANet studies and research what AI could be added, what tactic can be implemented, we can see variety.

ANet can research simply by using dungeon tactics in a PvP deathmatch. 5 players stack in a corner to see how the other 5 players react. See how good players react, see how bad players react, get data on all sorts of players. Then understand what makes players different from current mobs, what is the limit to adding the AI.

To the OP, Getting a perfect world without zerks is going to be really hard and time consuming for the devs. Is ANet’s time worth it? It is also going to make the game harder for you too, that is the undeniable truth.

to be fair i have a job too but a boyfriend that plays gw with me.
anyway the raids don’t require 8 hours a day. our guild dedicate 2 hours 3 days a week to the raids. the raid don’t reset daily, so you have a full week to complete it.
really it’s not a matter of time. although it is a fair matter of skill, so i would suggest not to pug it.
there are a lots of video about those fights that you can watch in your spare time to see what your role can be.
and finally, as you described how you play, you really don’t need a legendary armor, actually, no one needs one to be fair. even though you should be able to switch stat with it, the way you play i don’t think you change build that often and you can always try new builds in exotic

I don’t think it’s so much about time required, it’s more about commitment.

if a raid is scheduled at certain time, you better be there, else you won’t have a slot next time.

yes, it’s like when you decide to hang out with friends, you decide to commit a night out with them and to do so you don’t pick other dates with other people…

Yes its like hanging out with friends. Except there is a 10 man limit. You cannot bring more than 10 people and any less would make the movie reset over and over again. Then when you bring 10 people, you have to make sure their movie equipment is best in slot and they have to have a different role otherwise the movie will reset to the beginning.

I am not in favour of duelling, because:

1. The core philosophy is cooperative in PvE.
2. Costume brawl
3. Two PvP modes already exist
4. Don’t want the confusion between enemies and duellers in PvE environment.
5. Interruption of large group events.
6. Chat requests to 1v1 if I have the proposed “switch” set to off.
7. More like WoW..

That said, I think there are plenty of ways to make duelling fit within the PvP modes of the game, like daily activities. Lfg duel?

1. Dueling isn’t PvE. It is Player vs Player. PvE competition is mob tagging ownership, and shared nodes. So even if they add dueling to the PvE world, it doesn’t break their philosophy.
2. Which requires Gems to play. Not everyone has a costume to fight.

Go to the pvp section of the forums and add your name to one of the many threads that are there about this topic.

The mods are wrong to put dueling in sPvP.

Dueling is not sPvP which is conquest and capturing objectives. Dueling is not battlegrounds.

It is a 1v1 pvp. If there was a general PvP discussion, discussion about dueling would go there. But, there is none.

Control role needs strengthening

The reason why inferior PvE professions such as Engineers, Rangers and Necromancer will forever be inferior is because control role has zero worth.

Cripple/chill/immobilize will never be useful when a group can melee it better. Enemy mobs do not move if both the player and the mob are in melee range.

Knockbacks are counter-productive or worthless. Anyone who uses knockbacks slows the dps down. Bosses are almost immune to the control role and when the time defiant stacks are gone, the final knockback is worthless as boss spams the moves.

Dungeons and Fractals needs to be reworked from the scratch where control role is valuable. When that happens, inferior professions will no longer be inferior.

I want borderland maps to be rehauled. It is really boring to fight in the same map over again.

Red team gets a Fireheart rise/Flame Legion environment.

Blue Team gets snow environment.

Green Team gets a plains/foresty environment.

As the server fights further, more of the environment turns into the server’s environment. If the blue team dominates the entire map, the entire map becomes a snow environment. Then there will be new creatures that lives there because slugs can’t live on snow environments.
