This trait was key to some playstyles. You were able to bait skills to dodge and then decide at the last moment which TB-skill would fit the situation. Double burst and double stealth were strong but balanced via high ICD. The fact that devs stated their intention was to make the trait better because we had poor options in the tools line makes me sad cause it shows again that a testing audience just cant be replaced by a dev doing some paperwork. I just dont get it. Nobody complained about that trait. I main engi for 4 years now and im getting more and more frustrated with the uninspired changes that are made giving us less and less options in weapon and playstyle choices.

But they need to distinguish the difference between conditions and soft CCs.
I would support that for the fact that resistance would become a more balanced boon.
Its hard to provide tips with that info. Best you post links of the builds you use and tell which classes and builds give you the most trouble. Engi is an active, versatile class and takes time to learn. In general ask good players who killed you easily or friends to duel you for a bit and you will get better at avoiding keyskills and know how to counter. That said wvw is at an alltime low in aspects of smallscale ballance and with the new addon shortly it will be a complete clownfiesta.
You can fight in larger organised groups (15-30) if you know your role (ress/reveal/pull) but if you want to focus on fighting in publiczergs you might be better of with another class because you lack the groupsupport outside of a bit superspeed you can give.

Thats what i thought. Look at Flash Spark as TB-skill. Its basically a Smoke Vent of the FT-kit but with double the CD and maybe not usable when stuned.
I’d rather see the pvp changes to skills and traits transfered to wvw 1:1 instead of just x has been buffed to compensate and y has been nerfed in pvp only because thats where the inballance is at. Not some stat points. Stats dont do dmg. Skills and traits do with their scaling in power or condidmg or the need to crit.
then stop using healing turret to blast when you are at risk of underwriting your desired field. or find a safer way to avoid the water field. you can place it super early, or you can place it late. additionally, the blast occurs at you and not at the turret.
Yeah… I just jump as I stated above but it just doesnt resolve the many problems the turrent change has introduced.
For people that only used HT and only in a single way as healing bomb it was a qol-improvement for sure but for anyone else it was a nerf and cut playstyles.
but i admit that some time at/after hot released they did something to screw up BoB -> mortar -> fire/smoke -> healing and it somehow no longer works properly. but thats unrelated to turrets.
They increased the casttime of HT.
manipulating the field stack just requires attention that you arent giving if youre screwing up your might/stealth blasts.
I wasnt talking about my fields. The oldest field gets the finisher hence you create a pretty large area in which noone can use a field. Think OP meant that too.

IMO they should make it so the turret auto overcharges half a second after planted (so you can still inta-blast it if you need) and then it auto overcharges again periodically on the same CD it had before.
The problem is not the delayed overcharge but the CD added to the blast. First day after the change you could press the Healbutton 2 times quickly to instablast for knockback or combofields etc. as you were used to just with different buttons before the overcharge goes up. Then a wild bunch of lazy engis or badies infiltrated the forums and complained they couldnt spam their button when they need heal and they were failing their healing combos all the time. So Anet added the CD to the blast and now you cant instablast anymore. I opend a thread back then but it was controversial.
However i found out that you can time a jump to place the HT in the air to avoid the overcharge completely. It doesnt make it as good as quick blast or KB as it was but you can at least keep it from screwing other fields.

The amount of people who are lacking the reading comprehension to understand a single simple sentence amazes me.
magnet is not reliable but when you learn to look at terrain you can use it and it is also an interrupt skill.
Just jump while pulling.

Hey, i was wondering how it can be that 3 of 4 players roaming are thieves. It may be a crazy thesis but maybe they are broken as kitten. Can somebody explain to me why the class with hilarious mobillity, a ton of dodges, a non telegraphed burst and easy access to stealth needs to be basically immune to CC? The benefit of condis is that they allow you to be offensive and defensive simultaneously. With that said, one thing power specs have over condi is that they aren’t rendered completely useless by things such as resistance and high cleanse uptime (guardians and elementalists).
Sadly this is a feature that got introduced with HOT across power-, and condibuilds and is part of the reason i dont really enjoy fighting HOT-Specs. Meta powerscrapper for example has in 3 of his 5 weaponskills a defensivmechanism build in but they all do dmg. This leads to a more rotationheavy gameplay and given the short cds to a sort of spammy and less contextual style.
But hes has some points and thats why condi engi for example is not seen as very strong and rarely played.
No, the reason engie isnt seen as very strong is because necro is so much kittening stronger by condi overloading than any other condi build. Ele, engie, guard, warrior etc take your pick they all just dump out 2-3 different condis that is more easily cleansed, especially as groups grow larger. A necro dumping 30+ bleed stacks covered by 10 other random condis, not so much. Most condis get by with their burst stack of a single condi.

He needs to play condidmg, preci, toughness and maybe some duration to deal dmg which makes him kind of squischy in combination with his few stunbreaks, low mobillity and weakness to condis. I think looking at traits of certain condi-builds would be a better way than just scrap stats. Maybe reduce dmg, cleanse, overall and overhault resistance.

The only reason wvwers do not want it lowered, is because they are being selfish and they know that they now have something that most players cant get by any reasonable means (which is basically selfishness, and a disregard for gw2 as a whole).
I see it the exact opposite around. Now you have:
- Triumphant armor / available via reward track in a few hours of wvw
- Triumphant Hero’s armor / available via tickets and more time investment into wvw
- Mistforged Triumphant Hero’s armor / available for higher ranks
What you guys actually say is there shouldnt be any skin rewards for high ranks and I think thats not healthy. There should be more skins for those freaks up to the 10k rank and the dominator title for example because its cool if you see a intimidating looking guy from far and know he killed more than 250k people on the battlefield and it encourages folks to do that stuff.

Well I disagree I feel like gaining wvw rank is completely counter intuitive to most wvw play. Half the time in wvw is spent repairing walls or standing around or defending structures or losing zerg vs zergs or running places only to flee. Whenever this type of behavior occurs which is important to maintain 1st place under the new pip system, very little wvw ranks are gained..
If only repairing walls would give wxp…Yes it is very important to lose zergfights to maintain the first place. Do you happen to play on Drakkar? Because that would explain a lot.
Seriously wining zergfights is the best way to get wxp and the core of wvw.
Nice try but this is once again a strawman argument. There are some very key differences such that you can’t draw a parallel like that:
The rewards for AP achievement chests have been present since the beginning of the game (as far as I’m aware). There has and always will be an incentive to AP hunt and also methods to expedite AP hunting that aren’t dependent upon other players.
Rewards for World XP have not been present until recently. There has never been incentive to AP hunt and this meter only applies to wvw, not all game modes. There are ways to expedite wxp gain but even still it is greatly dependent upon your and your server’s performance in wvw.
Yeah you keep accusing me of that and it makes me wonder if you actually know what that means. I specifically referred to your points beeing negligence of certain playstyles, availability of ascended armor without rankrequirement and absence of negative impact of lower rank requirement. You on the other hand keep ignoring arguments like devaluation of skins by making them less rare, generalization of high ranks as eotmfarmers, accessibility of equal unique skins for lower ranks in two versions aswell as ascended gear without rank requirements. The “I said 1500? I meant 1000 because most vets i know are about that rank”-point was ignored by me because you cant base an argument on a subjective felt number. The only ones with the acurate numbers are Anet which chose the actual rank to ensure a certain rarity.
Now please explain to me how your last post supports your general position because i fail to see how the incentive to reach a righ rank alters the achievement.

I allways laughed at AP hunters and told them AP mean nothing but then I found out there is a Radiant Chestpiece Skin which I like. Do you guys know how long it would take to get 30k AP? I have spend the last years in all gamemodes so I really think I deserve all the skins in the game. Pls lower the requirement to 2k ap because that can be done by new players in a reasonable amount of time.
Being able to buy stat-selectable ascended armor without needing to craft it is pretty presitgious and rewarding but the limiting factor should be the currency which depends on ACTIVE participation….not wvw rank, which is not a very good indicator as to how much someone has contributed to their server. There does need to be a rank requirement since it obviously correlates at least somewhat with wvw participation which is the reward that veterans deserve to have but 2000 is too high.
T2 is ascended and has no rankrequirement. It just dont has LEDs. You can be happy now or keep spreading misinformation on purpose to get your will but your posts are flimsy as hell.
If there is gear available to those committed to wvw, I would think the dedicated players who play the game as “intended” would deserve it, not just EotM K-trainers and commanders, don’t you think?
I really dislike the myth people like you are spreading that you have to be an eotm-farmer or ppt-hero to be that rank. I have fought with many great guys who put a lot of work in the community and reached way higher ranks without beeing in eotm more than twice and i find that not fair to them. Further you keep ignoring that there are also t1 and t2 rewards for the guys you refer to. Im mostly a roamer myself btw.

Regardless of my rank, I think that 2.5 years honestly and whole-heartedly playing one game mode entitles me to any piece of armor from that game mode. This would be true for literally any other content in the game.
And it does to all but one set. We need hard to get items to give them value. For example if i really enjoy killing skritts and mining nodes in one zone and do this for 3 years i have been playing pve for the whole time. So am I entitled to any armor or skin of that mode? No if i want HOPE i have to play a lot of aspects of the mode. Sorry but your post sums up to: My rank is 1600 so i think the best reward should be available at hmm…. around 1500.
I really think there should be more prestige items of a certain rarity in this game because right now im not very afraid of someone with “legendary” pvp wings comming at me on a border. It took me a year or so to complete my first legendary and this was totally ok for me because it ensures that not everyone and his mother runs around with it and gives these items value. The SAB infusion would fit my engi perfectly but i dont enjoy the SAB so just dont get it and im cool with that. There are so many skins in that game everybody can get that we need some rare ones even if they are copy paste.
Maybe a person which did all of that. I for example am not playing since launch (a year later) and started with roaming then joined a wvw guild raided and scouted. Played a bit GVG focusparty when that was still a thing. Nowerdays im roaming again most of the time. If i would describe my wvw life in numbers it would be: 70% roaming(dueling), 25% zerging (pub+guild) and 5% scouting. I play on a bronze server and my rank is 3,7k.

Even the devs say that it’s significantly harder than wvw (another potential reason that t3 isn’t legendary).

That implies that pressing a button fast ten times is faster than two times at the right point and thats not how it works.
I really dont think it is a good idea to constuct mechanics around the possibility of lag. We might end up doing combos with just one buttonpress. I mean common all you parttime engis, you can do it. Its just two presses of the very same button at the right time.
I was concerned about the usability of HT as blastfinisher when i first read the notes and very happy when i tested it later that it was still possible. The later added delay however removes that mechanic. Please dont cut options just because people refuse to do precise inputs instead of just spaming keys.
Also they increased the casttime a while ago. Maybe that threw your timing off. Try overloading when the turrent hits the ground.
I would realy like to see the delay removed from it to make the gameplay crisp and up to date with hot spec paste. Rework short fuse into something usefull then. Leave big ol bomb with the delay as it is fun to time combos around it.

Agree. Not on the nerfpart but on the funthing. Plus the passiv def. Nothing is more fun than actively timing a reflectwindow to see the reflected trueshot go pop into aegis.

So, if burning, confusion, bleed, poison, and Vulnerability are applied in that order, then they will come off as Vuln, posion, bleed, Confusion and burning. that is the issue, there is not enough condi clear as compared to condis as they can be reapplied almost immediately while one has to wait for the skill recharge for clearing.
Most players in WvW do not use condi clear as it takes away from damage. Condi to boon works in the same way as condi clear.
This is part of what really makes me think resi is bad gamedesign. If you have suddenly that much condis on you, you ate a burst and now we are at a point where folks come to the forums and instead of thinking, “hey maybe i should have dodged that. may someone tell me what hit me and how it is telegraphed?” they defend a button that can be pressed afterwards to completly nullify their misplay. And as far as i know skills that do high condidmg have a higher cd than powerbursts in general so one could argue if that mechanic encourages misplays. Not pointing out things that have been said in this threat or older ones like lack of counterplay on most classes and stuff.

I would realy appreciate if resistance would only affect damaging conditions. Atm as an condi-engi for example there is no counterplay against builds with high resi-uptime. You cant even kite them properly because you cant root, cripple, chill, etc.

. But beeing able to run from a build is not exactly a proof of great ballance in my opinion and buying some traps for ingame currency no real counterplay. I dont build an omega to fight you eighter. Permastealth is one thing (you can discuss if its cool gamedesign or not), but beeing able to cc and doing that much condipressure while hidden and tanky is just broken for me.
My personal favorite part of the stream i watched is when you rage about revealtraps while running this build which is killing people without leaving stealth once.
Completely broken stuff in my opinion which hopefully will be gone soon. Enjoy it while it lasts but please stop saying stuff like : “Yeah i won this fight!” as if your opponent had a chance to deal with that.

Sorry, I didnt start this threat to discuss whether this has happend, to state how much of borderlands get capped, whether you like to troll people nor to nitpick on my phrasing. Several people saw it at hills. No way this guy could get into bay and it was even on your own teamchat. I just wantet to know if something can be done about that and i got my answer. I was asked to give this info to you and maybe i shouldnt have done that. Im sorry for that and next time i will only give it to official authorities. Have fun guys.

No, sry. I play WvW for a long time and hunted lots of Mesmers inside of keeps. I know they have lots of stealth nowerdays. More than that i am very careful in accusing players of not beeing legit and i wouldnt start such an topic if i hadnt seen it myself. Well thanks for the answers anyway. We will just all report him then and maybe someone manages to bring some videofootage.

i play on Miller’s Sound and this week we face Aurora Glade. Today we were pretty suprised when we saw a Mesmer of the Guild [Glad] inside our hills which wasnt open for quite some time. He portet in a lot of friends and we almost lost it. Later the same Mesmer portet a wild bunch of guys in our back when we deffended the spawntower against the spawncommander and friends. Yep all gates and walls where intact. Later the same evening this guys was jumping around in our t3 bay. I got his Accountname but dont want to publicy announce it here, further didnt i record his hackingmaneuvers but several people saw it. Can something be done about that besides using the reportbutton which lags the right category?
