I get that big funerals are a thing in Norn culture, so having an instance where we celebrate Eir’s life and mourn her passing makes sense and is a good setting for starting the new season. But what about those of us who still need closure for the death more central to HoT’s overall plot. The death that Anet seems to have just dropped off the map with little more than a “well we just had you murder your brother/canonical bestfriend to save the world no need to wrap that up neatly” I get that i don’t know where the story is going to take us next but i do know that for a portion of the community this plot point seems unfinished and we would like closure. a small instance where we return to the pale tree, and talk to her about the death of her oldest child and our hand in it. maybe its something in the real world where the voice actress for the Pale Tree is unavailable. but please Anet anything is better than the nothing we have right now
All signs point to us going nuts. Started seeing that ghost again too. Watch us turn into the new ‘god’ at the end of all things.
The God of Madness.
so basically we are becoming sheogorath? XD
you seem to have misunderstood what the trailer is for, Rising flames is the next episode of the living story, not an expansion.
just went back and watched the video again, saw the head shape and im pretty dang sure that was just a stonehead with new colouring. really wanted it to be a hydra
honestly its most likely a joke based on a play on words of destiny’s edge, fate and destiny being synonyms, and the same for razor and edge
in response to the “baldham” question, in many tribal cultures it is a custom to shave your head to represent mourning the loss of a family member or other loved one. I can only assume it is a way for the norn to express the same mourning.
not saying im not kittened about how long its taking but to be fair, “at regular intervals” just means that the sets will be released with the same amount of time between the releases, not that they will be released in a timely manner

i want a scary, solid looking greatsword, something that make you think, oh yeah that’s awesome/terrifying.
i dont think there is a meaning behind it, and its pronounced as it is spelt
still bugged here too
wielded by quetzal tengu in HoT
same problem here /15chars
as rule of thumb, all races and all classes are technically capable of using magic, its more a matter of personal preference and game mechanics which stop them from using more, for lack of a better term “mainstream magic” . the berzerker is an example of allowing the warrior’s rage and adrenaline to tap into the more primal aspects of Fire and earth magic more often associated with elementalists
the item " heart of a destroyer" from the rogort 1: the experimental torch collection doesn’t appear to be capable of dropping. that or it has a ridiculously low drop rate

you can still use the Elite spec without spending all 400, 400 is merely the number needed to complete the track. a good amount of the traits will be unlockable for less.

you do realize you can still use the Elite spec’s 400 is to complete the track not to unlock it
Will there be no pause in HoT personal story?

I think I remember it being confirmed that the fight with Mordremoth WILL NOT come with HoT’s release. We are getting a portion of the story. I imagine we won’t be getting to fight Mordremoth until next Summer, or Spring at the earliest.
I really wish people would stops saying it has been confirmed, we have had no confirmation whatsoever that mordremoth will not be fought in HoT, only baseless speculation made by pessimistic players and trolls trying to rile people up . True, we have had no confirmation we will be killing him in HoT either, but I for one choose to remain optimistic.
the mastery system is exclusive to HoT, and require the expansion, even for the masteries that take place in Vanilla GW2
But I wonder… How will the situation be when wearing legendary gloves?
this brings up another question, will legendary armor, when worn as a complete set, have footfalls and other effects, and if so which will take precedence when also wielding a legendary weapon, the effects of the armor or the weapon? Ideally we would see a equal parts blending of effects but that seems slightly unreasonable to ask at this point, though I am more than happy to be pleasantly surprised
heeeeeeeeeeelp shadowfanatik.5160
Which current ones have those effects?
If im not mistaken, frostfang (coats the arm wielding it in ice) and Incinerator (Flame coils around the arm)
Evennia was a monk.
You are correct, my mistake, still the point i was attempting to make stands, that she was not a necromancer
Ah right, shining blade mixup. nix the first name bit. LIVIA is the logical choice for E.
Except for the fact that During her introduction to E Marjory states that she senses no Necromantic energy from the person holding her in place, and that the voice she hears is male, dont get me wrong I’d love for Livia to be E but sadly it doesnt make logical sense.
Maybe E as Evennia in GW1?
I have always assumed this is the case. As far as we know she holds the scepter of orr, which means she’s effectively immortal. As a human, former shining blade spy, and witness to the first stirrings of the elder dragons in this age she has the motivation, means, and skills to do everything E has done. She also has no conflicting interests as several other possible operators behind the scenes.
As a necromancer her keen interest in Marjory even makes sense.
Also, her name actually starts with E.
I find it highly unlikely anyone else is E.
Evennia was a mesmer, livia was the necromancer
for some reason i always thought that the city that Saul found was somewhere in the isles of Janthir or at least Janthir Bay, north of what is now Divinity’s reach, considering the fact that the Eye of Janthir from prophecies was a mursaat artifact (at least in the sense that it was given to the white mantle by them) it wouldn’t be absolutely ridiculous to assume at least a probable relation.
while not entirely impossible that marjory could have been tricked using magic, likely mesmer magic. In marjory’s encounter with E she describes a male voice, im inclined to believe that E is a single person, likely a human male. magical ability seems likely but considering that every person in tyria is technically capable of using magic (profiency is a matter of tutelage and natural talent, and a seperate issue) this doesn’t mean much in terms of finding out which of the known professions; if any, he has been taught in
OP is wondering if Mordremoth used Trahearne to form the pact and destroy zhaitan in order to absorb its magic, which while not entirely impossible is very unlikely due to the fact that mordremoth was sleeping at the time of zhaitan’s death, and only had influence over scarlet due to her mind being exposed to the eternal alchemy or the all, whatever you want to call it.
this appears to have opened it to his influence, whether this influence was concious on the dragons part is still up in the air, though it would appear to be unconcious.
Konig can probably explain it a lot better than i can, but thats my basic explanation
using the remains themselves isnt the part that is forbidden its using a persons soul and body in a undead servant role that is viewed with disgust, if the body has no conciousness of is own but is rather used as raw material to make a minion, there is no problem outside of the obvious stench of reanimated dead tissue
its not a new bug but i thought it was fixed a while ago, maybe it popped back up with a recent patch
yes you are right, I did choose to read this thread and respond in admittedly not a totally clear state of mind, but still as a fellow player i have just as much right to voice my opinion as you do. you choose to view me as self righteous, such was not my intent to be such but oh well.
All I mean to say is that you have both been arguing for days over something that may well be retconned within the next few months, until the devs decide whether to change it or not the druid is what it is lore wise, not everyone is going to like it, does that mean the devs will change it, not necessarily, in fact they seem to very rarely comment on lore issues unless blatant contradictions arise. even should they change it there is no guarantee that the will change it in a way that supports your view on the specialization’s lore.
as a side note I apologize if I personally offended you, such was not my intent. i simply believe that this arguement has gone past the point of theoretical debate and to the point of arguing for the sake of arguing.
Im sorry but this is just getting to the point that its just stupid, Daniel, you dont like druid lore thats fine, dont use the elite spec, PROBLEM SOLVED, Konig, i mean no disrespect but at this point the arguing is making both of you look petty so,maybe, its time to stop and have the forums mods close this thread
What 3 Specializations your most hyped for?

reaper, berserker, chronomancer
if the game itself has basically told people that there is absolutely no connection what else will it take to get this arguement to stop, its been 3 years and no sufficient evidence to support anything more than 6 gods 6 dragons, its getting ridiculous now
se7en was a great film
sorry but no, just no
as well, it was clearly stated by arenanet when Nightfall was launched that elona was inspired by africa and the middle east both for geographical styling and cultural inspiration, sure arena net threw a lot of their own twists on the cultures, just as they did with the norn being inspired by scandinavian culture, but not simply being a stereotype of the classic viking marauder that is often the first thing to pop into peoples heads
HoT is not taking place where Utopia was to be set, Utopia was to be set on a new continent all together, that said native american as well as mayan and aztec cultures were going to be the inspirational basis for the unnamed coninent that was to be used in Utopia.
trolololololololol
personally i think its much more likely that mordremoth isnt actually speaking but rather the sylvari player character is capable of understanding the orders that Mordy is sending telepathically having come from mordremoth themselves, the voice is just the manner in which the game allows the player to know that while they are technically still connected to mordremoth the PC is perfectly capable of at worst ignoring these orders, at best using mordremoths strategies against it
while its always possible and I’m sure veterans, myself included, would be incredibly pleased with these areas returning, without official word from arenanet its all speculation as to whether or not to expect the return
no
TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL
its definitely not the stone from the fire islands because there are no recorded expeditions there since the events of prophecies, proably a few fishermen or canthan refugees getting shipwrecked and dying soon after but no major forays into the lands due to their extremely inhospitable nature. Which is why its such a big deal that Rytlock has Sohothin, no one knows how he could possibly have gotten it since by all rights it should be encased in volcanic rock along with Rurik’s corpse
I doubt ArenaNet would skip over integrating specializations into the lore of their game so how do you think Chronomancers, Tempests, Druids etc. will fit in?
Will we meet some confused and displaced Chronomancers not sure if it was just
breakfast they ate or yesterdays lunch a second time?
Or maybe a Druid in the Maguuma Jungle searching for a better understanding of the Pale Trees?
Or a Tempest… making small talk about the weather? ;>_>
hey Corvus
personally i think it likely that chronomancers will be most prevalent throughout the exalted cough coughmursaat*cough cough* and likely have been one of the ways they phased themselves out of reality last time the elder dragons rose.
possibly an extension of the continuum shift skill, perhaps splitting the race off to a different flow of time where they could stay safe from the elder dragons

personally im hoping for the name Valkyrie
while an interesting idea, I personally doubt it is a bloodstone, the colouration is too different from those seen in the past, and while this could be explained by the change of art style between GW1 and GW2 It seems more likely that It is a large Piece of the temple of ages that was transported either soon before or soon after Itwas destroyed by flooding, createing Godslost swamp
Shadow skins are weapons from the shadow army. An army in the Fissure of Woe, lead by Menzies – evil half brother of the god Balthazar.
You could actually get a few of these weapons in gw1, not all.
Except the shadow weapons in GW1 had much different designs, not a complaint just stating a fact, personally i like the new ones more, they have more character, and aren’t just darkened skins from other weapons like in GW1

while you are right in theory you must remember that the searing was an event that killed thousands if not tens of thousands of ascalonian humans, as well as permanently scarring the land to the point where it may never be as prosperous as it once was, not to mention the attempted invasion of kryta which was not originally part of charr territory. whether or not ascalon (or whatever the charr called the land before the humans took it over) was originally charr territory is a moot point. the charr are still responsible for the largest number of war casualties in recorded tyrian history not including wars waged against elder dragons past or present.
