b) Shenhua if you mean across all 5 targets then yeah you got about 0.9~1k bonus damage
Hm, what I meant was that my Vampiric(on-hit) deals 42 damage and Vampiric Precision(on-crit) deals 50 damage. This means every crit deals an additional 92 damage. Since I have almost 100% chance to crit in Death Shroud and the 4th Death Shroud skill hits 9 times it will do about 900 damage more on each target.
Oh, and I think they added scaling to our siphons a couple of patches ago. It’s not huge, but it’s definitely there.
I’m afraid this will be nerf if the numbers they’ve stated are correct. They said something about buffing the base “steal” to 80% of previous Bloodthirst numbers(150%) and nerfing Bloodthirst to 20%. This would mean our new steal % will be @ 1.5 * 0.8 * 1.2 = 1.44 or 144%. I find this quite sad as I quite liked the idea of stealing health and the likes.
The way I understood stealing was that it dealt a flat “damage” no matter how much toughness or protection the target had so whenever I went into DS and used Life Transfer with the on-crit + on-hit steal with a 100% crit chance I’d be dealing about 900 additional damage. I also liked the effects of stealing combined with our wells and our Axe 2 and Dagger 2 for such a silly amount of numbers popping up due to bleeds proccing from 5 pt in Curses and so on.
We don’t need more of the boon called kittenation. It’s still the stupidest kitten ever. Warriors aren’t really the problem when it comes to Retaliation but giving more of this absolutely bonkers boon is not a good idea.
I’d say it does need a buff. But the problem is, it keeps getting nerfed since apparently Pistol OH is immune to nerfs.
Even with the +16% from Mantras, 9% from 3 illus Sword MH deals less damage per chain than a Thieves/Warrior/Guardians when they have no traits.
Although damage might not be the answer. Since they went ahead and gave Thieves a Boonsteal with Larcenous Strike why can’t they give us that on the last hit of our auto chain. They could very well also make it easier for us to stack up a decent amount of Vulnerability by ourselves by increasing duration to 8s to make it the same as Greatsword Warrior chain.
But I’m dreaming big here. You could pretty much play without the Mainhand weapon and just have a pistol equipped in offhand if it keeps going like this.
In general I hate really small or large races, so Asura is out and so is Norn and Charr.
I’m left with Sylvaris who look really strange in anything not TA or Cultural(just my opinion) or Humans. So I’ll go for humans.
I seem to be seeing WAY more of the cancer that is Asura all over the world. Everyone and their mother is running around playing one it seems. But this might just be bias on my part due to me hating them so much.
Give me Dragon’s Dogma night time. No lanterns. Or Skyrim with realistic lighting mods.
The thing I’m the most sad about is that Sword mainhand keeps eating nerfs whilst Pistol keeps being immune to any meaningful nerfs yet it’s really the thing that makes Sword mainhand good.
Since I absolutely loathe “guns” I’m stupid enough to not use Pistol OH so I keep getting nerfed because of an offhand I don’t use.
I see a face there. With a very gripping facial expression. I don’t see this one as a kitten shot at all. To be honest her lady bits are even blurred out.
What you have to realize is that if you want to villainize something pretty much anything can be made into something naughty. It’s pretty much what Sarkeesian(?)’s vids are all about.
And, really… females are prancing around in their underwear? You’re not reaching at all here.
I’d say 8/10 without the intestines. With ‘em I’d go down to 6/10.
This is my Mesmer. Still looking to get some good armor skins on her even though I have more time played on her than any of my other characters.
For example:

Boob-armor!
I love how you managed to pick an an armor that shows no skin, unless of course the armor changes the color of your skin. Perhaps it’s like one of those tattooed sleeves or whatever I’ve heard about.
Let’s say that hypothetically people are offended by people showing some semblance of skin in a video game due to whatever reasons. Can’t I just say that I’m offended that someone covers up their character so much that it makes it seem like they’re trying to protect the world from the greatest evil mankind has ever seen?
I’ve hardly ever seen the pro-skimpy crowd go for the removal of all garments that cover any skin whereas the other side seems to want the game to feature mummified corpses with atleast 4 layers of bandages underneath everything.
One side tries to add variety for all, the other wants to belittle and insult anyone even remotely interested in something other than 150% coverage.
Has it not occured to people that the reason why “LA” looks like a stripjoint is because there is a serious lack of variety in armors. If there were more DIFFERENT looking armors of both kinds maybe(but I doubt it since some people want to be offended) LA wouldn’t be the stripjoint people are referring to.
Anyone remember how way back when they spoke about traits. They said stuff like how it would change the functionality of a skill? Perhaps I was just imagining things because I can’t for the life of me find much information about how it was said to work.
Anyone here played any D&D 3.x Edition? Remember how you could make your character oh so very different from another character who used the same base class? How about 4th Edition D&D? Remember how you could not? This is what I feel has happened with Guild Wars 2 and RPGs in general these days. Developers have cut down on customization so much just for the sake of making it so people who can’t figure out a toaster can play it and succeed.
Anyhow, the problem with the current trait system is that it feels too much like it’s all +1% more damage or +1% time till you get squished all in different ways.
What I would love to see is something to help differentiate oneself from other people in terms of the effects your skills have. I think having ways to differentiate your playstyle from others in terms of skills rather than EPIC Loots is way more interesting.
I realize something like this would wreak havoc on the delicate(non-existent?) balance we have in the game but would most likely appeal to a lot of people who prefer having more customization.
Now, it’s really late and I should be getting off to bed but I just had to get this off my chest. In the morning, I’ll see if I can get some good ideas together on how to implement something like this and perhaps some more concrete examples.
The reason why Guardians are better buffers is mostly due to the fact that they have access to Retaliation. Whereas bunker/boon Eles are annoying they don’t have a silly amount of passive damage hitting you while trying to get em down.
So, here I was. Thinking that since you guys at ANet said ranger would have some fixes/changes incoming AND we got a new pet in that same family yet the drakes are still stuck with basic auto-attack and the active skill.
I would love some sort of recognition of the problem and/or that you are working on it(unless of course the Drakes would lose the frontal cone auto).
If ascended gear had been available right away no one would shell out the cash/tokens to get the Exotics like many of us already have now. I have 5 80s all geared out in Exotics. I thought this was a good idea since I wasn’t expecting there to come another tier of gear so I didn’t think I’d have to “farm” for better stats once more.
Now the goal of getting Cultural and legendaries feel even further away since you can’t get to “farming” those once you get your exotics or whatever your desired level of gear is.
In return, channels counter dodges very well. No matter how you time it, you can’t evade life siphon completely with a single dodge.
And what do you expect? 10k Damage healed with an ability chain that is on a 8/12 second cooldown? With Abilities that also grant great life force regeneration?
Even a single Dagger1 Combo can heal you for 800-1000. Everything you do that does direct damage triggers life leech, not just the channels.
Dagger1, Axe2 and Focus4 are also great for gaining life force.
Maybe burst of other classes is the main problem here in PvP?
In PvE you might end up making us nigh unkillable.
So, how does one dagger autoattack cycle ever heal you so much? I mean.. if you have 100% crit it would heal according to you for (38 + 155) * 4 which is 772 which is VERY nice. But then we have to factor in REALITY and then we realize that 100% crit is not possible and we’ll be looking at very different numbers.
If I remember correctly from playing my Thief last night just by using my Signet of (Passive Healing!?) that heals every hit for 115 with the spec I currently use. If we factor in a realistic high crit value of about 60% it would let us heal for 524 on average each time we use the dagger auto chain whereas the Thief using ONLY his Signet would heal for 460 a mere 64 points of healing less than we would if we had spent 20 points improving our such heals.
The reason I don’t include any Sigils or Food is because any class can get access to those.
I would love to see the channel duration of Life Siphon reduced and the cooldown aswell because you almost NEVER get to see a full Life Siphon complete in PvP and in PvE it most likely won’t even help a tiny bit against anything relatively dangerous due to how long it is.
I’d much rather see another melee weapon for Mesmer. Preferably Dagger or Axe. I would like it if the dagger for example was more offensive than say the Off-hand Sword and had something useful like the lolPistol has.

I see it hitting for about 900 per tick and I believe it ticks once every 2 seconds? So 4 times in the 8 second period it’s up. It’s by far my favorite off set weapon. Using the adrenaline skill and then the Blast on third and then placing banner(s).
I usually do F1, 3, Banner 1, Pick up banner, Smash banner and I get 9x Might Stacks and so does all the people close to me and then I pop FGJ for another 3x Might.
It should tick every second. 900 per tick? I call BS, unless you have like 2k Condition Damage.
Not the burning. The regular hits.
EDIT: Logging in right now, haven’t been on my Warrior in awhile so I’ll check how much it does.
EDIT 2: Okay, it seems to be hitting for 350-400 every 2 seconds and once upon “impact” so it hits 5 times. It crits for about 800-900 with my Berserker gear.

Reduce cooldown of siphon to 10s. Reduce channeling duration to 2 seconds.
Move Vampiric(Life on hit) to the 5-point trait. Make Vampiric Precision(Life on crit) the 15-point trait. Make these things scale a bit better.
Move the XIth trait to the Minion tree and add a trait which makes Life Siphon more like Life Transfer. Make it hit additional targets but reduce the healing by 40% and add Life Force gain to it.
This would make for one hell of a tanky beast. Perhaps even overpowered but I feel like the Necro(specifically daggers) need quite a bit of help.
Elite mantra sounds awesome. Imagine having an Elite that isn’t incredibly situational and one that’s actually useful when soloing.
Not everyone plays 4 hours.
So I suggest a 3 hour cycle instead of 2.
First thought is 60 night and 120 day.
But maybe it should be 80 night and 100 day.
I remember them making the argument that if they had any “longer” cycles some people who don’t play all that much won’t be seeing all the content. This is true, but if they made the cycle uneven as in 3 or 5 hours if you log on at the “same” time everyday you’d see a different time in game.
My vote of course goes to 5 hours or even longer. I love night time. So many interesting events kick off at night time.
I’m of the opinion that the current cycle feels way too short. You can barely manage to get one event done during night and since there are quite a few night specific events I’m hoping that the cycle would be extended to twice the current duration.
If I remember correctly it was stated that the cycle is currently 2 hours with 40 minutes of night and 80 minutes of day so with this new cycle it would be an acceptable 80 minuts and 160 minutes.
Sorry if something like this has already been posted.
It counts as dying, yes. So whenever you get an illusion desummoned through summoning a fourth you’d activate any of the on death things.
I just did this today on my Warrior and it felt fine. But then again, all classes aren’t nearly as good as the warrior underwater.
If only they nerfed the crap out of Phantasms and boosted our direct damage instead.
I’m hoping they are moving towards more damage coming from the Mesmer rather than from our kitten pets so that all the whining will end.
Necros can do it aswell. They also have a “get over here” type of skill.
I think that the mesmer has highest skill cap.
i.e. —> people who are good will be great with mesmer and people who play bad will be extra bad with mesmer because its very unforgiving.
its one of those classes where you have to dodge everything perfect and hit your skills at just the right time while having amazing situational awareness and top notch character control or else its a train wreck. but if you can do it then you are like this “naked mesmer” and every other class calls for nerfs.
Except he’s not naked. Since most of the Mesmer’s damage reduction is “active” him not getting the “armor” and runes doesn’t matter nearly as much as it would for a Warrior for example.
Change the armor back to the way it used to be and give an option for the puritans to check some box which says potato sacks for all which would then change all armor to potatosacks.
@Hildebert If I remember correctly right after the game released I tested out Restorative Illusions but it was complete and utter kitten(and bugged too, in a good way).
It seemed to heal me for about 1.2k back then on using any of the shatters. It also didn’t increase the heal per illusion so it would heal the same whether you used 1(0)-3 (4) illusions. I believe back then you could also use a shatter skill without having any illusions or the illusionary persona trait and still get heal and the shatter skills only going on a really short cooldown. I’ll do some testing in a bit to see if anything has changed.
EDIT: Tested again, heals for 1136 with 360 Healing Power(300 from Trait line and 60 from Divinity runes). I tried using the clerics amulet and got it up to about 1.4kish with an increase of about 900 healing power. It also only heals you once no matter how many illusions are shattered so I’d go as far as to say that it’s one more of our not so awesome grandmaster traits.

Arah female heavy dungeon armor.

I’m hoping this is a bug. This armor is basically one of the armors I actually went female for. With the bug it looks like generic death/darkness armor, without the “bug” it looks awesome and somewhat creepy.
