Simplify Currencies [suggestion]

Could you just have some universal “event token” currency slot contained in the wallet for use in festivals, and another for living story? It’s really irritating to have twenty different currencies in my bank, wondering if they’ll ever be used again or, if they are, if you’ll mess with the drop rate the next time they’re used.

Maybe you could even use karma for that. I dunno. Make it worth having.

I was mapping tonight and heard someone in map chat being advised to buy a trait linked to a bugged event (devourer queen). As I always do, I pointed out that traits used to cost less than 3g to unlock all of them. The other person responded that since s/he had all the classes grandfathered in, s/he preferred the new system, since it allows for retraiting on the fly, for free. You know, if nobody was grandfathered in; if the veterans had been gated by this system, it would’ve been fixed within two weeks. Multiply the outcry against the commander tag prices by a thousand. This thread would have been 100 pages before the first week was out.

I really want to love the game again. I do. And then I think of how duplicitous it was to emphasize the quote below in the blog post about traits, rather than relaying that the tiers being unlocked for free is utterly meaningless, and there’s no way to dive in when you don’t have any traits.

Once you reach the appropriate level, we want you to be able to dive right into the system and start playing around with it, so you’ll unlock each tier for free!

It only just occurred to me how the changes to the personal story have impacted trait acquisition. I should start listing my personal story missions on LFG so uplevels can join and get their traits. I mean, it was always unreasonable to have the story missions so much higher than the traits warranted, but now you either have to be at or higher than those levels, or you rely on the hope that someone will let you in on their story.

What a waste of a previously good system.

Why are people so afraid of raiding?

Just wanted to chime in here that I’m not afraid of raiding. It’s simply not something I’m interested in doing in Guild Wars. The UI limitations make it really unappealing, after the customization of WoW, and nothing I’ve heard seems to indicate that the encounters are particularly fun. It seems like a poor fit, to me.

Not liking something does not mean a person is afraid of that thing.

Dear ANET,

I have some ideas. These are free for your use. Enjoy.

Allocation of Points

2 trait points at level 20, and 1 trait point every 5 levels thereafter. (Alternately, you could put the 2 at 80, but I think it’s more exciting at 20, personally. Or start with 1 each from level 15 on; go wild. It’s your game; have some fun with it.)
Adept line unlocks at 20, Master at 40, and Grandmaster at 70.
Undo the nerf to all mobs from the April 15th patch.
This gives us nice, clean, round numbers to work with.
I honestly have no idea why this wasn’t the first solution you came up with for traits, rather than the awkward “1:6, and then 2 for a while” method we’ve currently got.

Buying Traits
The total cost should not exceed 20g and 130 skill points.
Personally, I don’t think the adept tier should require skill points.

Earning Traits

This ought to be the fun part. Here’s what I think should happen:

I think trait quests should award trait completion points.

There should be a whole mess of level-appropriate things that cover ALL aspects of the game. I don’t do pvp or wvw, and I rarely do fractals/dungeons these days, so feel free to chime in with ideas, folks.

Anyway, those trait completion points should be spent within a specific tier- maybe even a specific line, but not assigned to specific traits. So I’d need to earn 6 in each line (assuming they’re tied to specific lines, and not just available for all adept traits, willy nilly.) to earn all the adept level traits, and so on.

PvE Adept Tier Quests
100% Map Complete W (W=starter city; Lion’s Arch) (6)
100% Map Complete X (X=1-15 zone) (5)
100% Map Complete Y (Y=15-25 zone) (4)
100% Map Complete Z (Z=zones ranging between 25 and 40) (3)
Earn X guild influence
Earn X guild commendations
Any of the early jumping puzzles (Shaman’s Rookery, Dreamdark Enclave and the one before it, Goemm’s Lab, Sharkmaw, Troll’s End, Urmag’s Secret, Shattered Wall, etc)
Complete N dailies. (like monthly completionist)
Personal story steps level 35 and under (major steps, ideally)
Complete N hearts.
Revive N people.
Complete N skill challenges.
View N vistas.
Complete Ascalonian Catacombs in story mode.

Just off the top of my head. The map complete suggestions account for 18 trait points, just in the adept lines.

With an abundance of things to choose from, in all areas of the game, it will feel less tedious. Keep the group events, by all means. Maybe toss in a world boss or two. Stuff like this is how it should have begun.

Maybe require a zone complete (and equivalent things in PvP and WvW, obviously) in order to unlock the grandmaster tier at all- a choice between Timberline, Iron Marches, Sparkfly, Mount Maelstrom or Fireheart Rise, and then you can access the line itself?

For the Master tier, we’d raise the level accordingly, and maybe get into things like “Obtain and equip a full set of rare equipment” or “Obtain a full set of cultural armor” or “Earn this specific dungeon achievement”. Include stuff from the activities. Costume Bash. Make it FUN for people to do. Please.

1) There was simply no reason for Level 500 Food and Jewelry. It was the presumption of the players that these crafts would go to 500.

“We’ll expand all crafting professions to allow them to reach a new milestone: 500 points!” (2013)

There’s also the Xunlai Ingot

From the same article:

“As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.”

Changing your mind on doing something isn’t quite the same as not finishing it. For example we were going to put a shed in our back yard, but we decided on a gazebo instead.

They probably did some tests, and figured the time, energy and expense to level it wouldn’t be worth it, so they changed their minds about doing it.

You’re making a completely different argument than that quote was meant to express. Context matters. If you read it, Behellagh said that the players made the presumption that the two crafts would be expanded to 500. The quote shows that it was not an assumption made by the players, but it was based on actual information given by ANET.

Also, anyone who is using the “And you wonder why ANET doesn’t communicate with players” argument: Yeah, it’s super unreasonable to expect that people mean what they say. Why is it that in this format, it’s suddenly inappropriate to use official communication as a fact of intention? This is on the same level as politicians who make stupid statements and then say, “That was not intended to be a factual statement.”

You say things like that, and then you turn around and act like anyone who questions the various development plans that are currently “on the table” are people who just want to complain about everything and if ANET says they’re doing something, then they’re doing it and that’s that.

How do you even live with that kind of cognitive dissonance going on? It boggles the mind.

I’m trying to tread carefully, here. I want this to be constructive and helpful. Please read this with that tone in mind.

A lot of statements and communication tend to get buried, either in the forum or by virtue of not being mentioned on the official forum. When you [ANET] tweet something important, or post something important on facebook, or give an interview at a con, or write a forum thread with key information [Like the information about the dungeon team being disbanded, or the update on precursor hunts], could you have a dedicated forum with links/transcripts/quotes of those things? Often, here on the forum, little things are dropped into specific threads that people might not even associate with the information. “I Have A Question About The Economy” talked about 2013’s Halloween candy sinks, for example.

Mike O’Brien’s thread about better communication would have been well-served by being in a more visible location. I’d be happy to flag posts (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) to help the mods more easily identify these sorts of things. It’s really weird that a company as old as ANET doesn’t have any centralized aggregate of all their news.

I love how most of the people defending the trait system are probably people that never had to bother with it. Yeah, because I want to map complete Lornar’s Pass, Dredgehaunt Hills, Blazeridge Steppes and three other zones on multiple characters just to access 6 of their low level traits.

What’s that? You say I can buy the traits if I want them so badly? Yeah, you might’ve noticed my signature. It’s pretty great. I’ll wait, if you want to look at it. My 11 level 80 characters cost me 28g60s prior to April for traits. If I wanted to buy access to even half of their traits now, it would cost me over 236g AND almost 2000 skill points. So, c’mon. Tell me how that’s a reasonable change.

The most offensive trait unlocks are the vendor books.

40g and 360 skillpoints is an exponential increase over the previous… what was it? 3g?

You want us to go through the traits list and do something you should be doing because you can’t be bothered to go through this 43 page thread that’s been around since April? This “specific information” you’re after? It’s all here. It’s been stated and restated.

Seriously, what kind of confidence am I supposed to have in the development team at this point?

This is the sort of communication that would have been helpful to guide the discussion immediately following the feature patch. Heck, even a month or two afterward. But nearly five months, and you are going to disregard the entirety of the thread because it’s too much to read?

If I’m brutal, it’s because it has been almost a year. It’s been two months since the “new new” system was announced, and then we were left to our own devices with no information. This sentiment wasn’t adopted overnight. I’ve made pleas for middle ground, for some way to effectively communicate, and I’ve given loads of constructive feedback. The amount of time I’ve spent considering and wording my feedback is probably something that would be staggering to most people.

If the first thread was problematic, it should have been more heavily moderated. If their intention is to not engage, then they need to stop cycling through to the whole, “We’re sorry we have bad communication, and we’re really truly going to start working on it, and we mean it this time!” that I’ve watched happen here at least twice. Frankly, if their intention is to not engage, they need to examine the importance of having anything except for a support forum.

If forumites are bullies, they [ANET] are the ones with the power to discourage it. They have moderators here who can delete and/or edit posts. That doesn’t make it acceptable to be abusive, but they can eliminate the abuse, to a very large degree. They aren’t helpless victims. That is the wrong picture to be painting.

It seems like most of this is based around guild halls, this is also another reason why Anet should expand on personal housing. Let small guilds congregate around personal housing and have guild halls be a end goal or for medium/large guilds.

Though not sure what people expect when they make a 1-3 person guild, if they make it simple or possible for a small guild to achieve something, it just means a large guild will be done with it in no time. It also disincentivises guilds if something is achievable solo or by a small group.

People expected to be able to access the things that were accessible prior to the xpac. This would be a valid statement if these things had not been made available for three years, but 2-person guilds were able to function (at a lesser level than big guilds, but still function) within the system ANET built. I don’t see how you can’t see why people have an issue with such a sweeping change to their functionality.

They really really really need to change the trait system, and more specific the way you acquire them.
Why did they even change it from the original? Now the new players are basically forced to buy gold to get the new traits, because only a mad man would think that they would go on an “exciting journey” to hunt them all around the world.
So was this a gold sink, another way Anet to make few bucks out of the poor new players? Or did they try to make gw1-alike system? Either way they failed.
I recently decided to start leveling a warrior, and to unlock the speed buff trait at around level 30 I am forced to go to 50+ level area for this trait, really? Absolutely ridiculous.

Traits have had two threads of feedback (more than 100 pages, total) over the past year. They’re not part of the September New Player Experience; they’re from April 15, 2014.

We’ve been given platitudes and excuses over the course of the last 12 months. In August, we were informed that they were looking at short-term fixes that could be applied as a stopgap measure while they figured out how to give the system a complete overhaul. Then, in late January, we were informed that there would be a major overhaul to the trait system, and they were excited they could finally share the news with us. The original thread was locked, a new one was created (ostensibly to discuss this “new information”) and we’ve heard absolutely nothing about it since then.

Not only are the trait quests tied to level-inappropriate tasks, they’re also tied to buggy content, tedious and time-consuming content. Now, I don’t know much about how to computer, but it seems like a reasonable stopgap measure would’ve been to lower the prices to be more in line with what they were a year ago today. Or, you know, anything other than a wall of silence. Given how they choose to communicate, I’d say you can expect to hear more about traits anytime between late May and mid-July.

I will continue to actively discourage people from buying character slots, and I will continue being unable to recommend the game, and after four months, I have serious doubts that Anet intends to do anything meaningful with this system.

I still stand by the official statement, which is in short saying “not now”. the SAB is a small corner of content that people like, but its not the only one where people are suffering, PvE, WvW, and PvP haven’t been updated with any content for quite some time and more people have been begging for that for much much longer.

SAB is small compared to the main 3 modes that have received responses such as “we’re working on it” and they’ve sat by much much longer than all the SAB fans have. Asking for an immediate response and unlocking of content by Anet is stepping on the core game modes. we cant always get what we want. id love another WvW tournament right now, but they wont simply add that easily placed content into the game without having to work on it in some capacity.

it’s not unreasonable to ask people to simply wait. PvPer’s have waited since launch for a new map type, PvEer’s wanted “raids” and hardcore content, and WvWer’s wanted new maps that aren’t EoTM. If they have to wait SAB lover’s have to wait too. It’s only fair.

Translation: If I’m miserable, everyone shall be miserable! Including the people who bought a gem store item that has been useless for over a year and a half, now! Those people don’t deserve any kind of time frame, because reasons!

I’m scared of the way they will “fix” things, considering the way the “fixed” the personal story into a jacked up mess and “fixed” the previous trait system and leveling experience.

Well, they are fixing the personal story, again and returning it to its proper order, as well as giving characters new dialogue, Better Dialogue(Traehearne is getting an update!) And they are making the final instance soloable! so there may be hope yet.

I’ll believe it’s an improvement when it’s in game and available for commentary. Until then, we’ve just got more assurances.

I’m finding myself less and less enthused about recommending people make and try all the different professions before they decide on a main profession to play. The reason is that it used to be a breeze to get to level 20 and have a feel for that class. You had traits. You had access to all the weapons. You had access to all but the elite skill, I think.

Now? Telling someone to experiment with the professions is just… it’s a timesink, and it’s not fun. They’d have to reach level 30 even just to SEE the traits, in game. I’ve gotten a total of one character from 1-80 since the trait changes.

I honestly don’t care if Anet has to deal with backlash from people who are angry that they sank time and money into this current system, if the “new-new” system is going to be as much better as it needs to be. I feel badly for the people themselves, but Anet could’ve alleviated this issue by reducing the cost within a month or two- whenever it became obvious that they needed to work out a “new-new” system to integrate with Heart of Thorns. I’ve said it before that the longer they leave this wreck in place, the more angry the people that do interact with it are going to be. So this is very much a problem of their own devising.

For now, I’m just stuck collecting tomes and crossing my fingers that they deign to tell us more about this “new-new” trait system, because I desperately want to love leveling again.

Isaiah, thanks for coming in here and facing the inevitable criticisms. I am among those who fear this announcement is meant to soften the blow of the impending information that there’s nothing in the September feature patch to repair this system. I hope not, but your tone suggests that there hasn’t been much internal discussion of the matter, and that’s really disappointing.

However, because I want you to know how important this is to me, I’m going to summarize my ideas and some of my favorite suggestions made by other people. This thread contains four months of feedback, so of course it’s going to be hard to get through. As Chris Whiteside pointed out, your primary job isn’t to be here, sifting through massive feedback threads, so hopefully this will be of some help.

1. I’m not saying we agree on anything in this thread, but a vast majority of people seem to agree that level 30 (and every 6 levels thereafter) is not fun. I’d like to see it start at level 15, with one point every 5 levels, and the next tiers unlocked at 30 and 60 respectively.

2. This actually IS almost unanimous: Some tasks are disproportionate and a lot of them are not level-appropriate.

3. I think it would be lovely if the trait acquisition system were handled more like skill point challenges.

4. I hate 100% map complete for a trait. Hate. Particularly an adept level trait, but any of them really.

5. There’s nothing that feels good about paying more for a single trait than it used to cost to unlock a whole tier.

In closing, I’d like to reiterate that I hope I’m wrong. I hope there’s something planned for traits in the feature patch. I’d also like to thank you again for acknowledging the thread.

Well done Anet for encouraging tolerance. Keep up the great work!

I don’t see how this encourages tolerance. People aren’t going to change their opinion because of a transgender NPC in a video game. I say this because … well, you wouldn’t like my opinion on the matter. Anyway, now that I’m aware of this NPC I can assure you that it hasn’t influenced my opinion at all. It’s not a real person. It’s an NPC.

So I am not sure what the point of this is. I can see from this thread that it makes certain people happy but why? What is so great about this? Nobody is going to feel any differently on the issue due to the existence of this NPC.

For the same reason it’s important to have ethnically diverse casting in film or television. For the same reason it’s important to show representation to women. Small motions create the foundation of change.

My issue is that a dev heard how upset people were, and made a promise to comment on it… and then when called upon to answer that promise, made it clear that no such comment was forthcoming.

This happened. It doesn’t matter what you think about Fractals or GW2 or even Chris Whiteside’s record of working hard and putting in extra time to communicate via these forums. If you deny that this is a shoddy way to treat people who have been respectful and patient in the midst of an emotionally turbulent time, I don’t think you’re examining what really happened.

Guhracie.3419

Im not sure what you mean by polish..you want the game to be in polish language, as an option?

Regarding what others have said: They focus so so so much on living story, and not enough on anything else.

When was the last time dungeons got a good revamp? Not just one..but multiple?
When was the last time there was reason to just go out into tyria and explore, not related to any achievements?
When was the last time you DIDNT see the champ train?>
When was the last time Orr was significant?

There is another english word “polish” that has nothing to do with Poland. To polish means to make smooth and glossy by using friction, usually in terms of metal or gemstones (though it has MANY other uses). The implication here is that the game has many features that are quite close to being well-done; all they need is a bit of polishing. Smooth out the rough edges. Hope this helps.

So, the request for more suggestions….. is that because there’s nothing in this thread that seems feasible? Because… there just aren’t a ton of methods that haven’t been mentioned. Maybe it’s time for a little feedback from you guys. Blink once for “we’re working on other game modes and currently have no plans whatsoever to do anything about the trait system,” blink twice for “We have a super exciting change incoming that we think you’re going to love!” and that change is that the skillpoint requirement for vendor unlocks just doubled and it now costs an additional fee in karma, as well, or never blink again for, “Based on your suggestions, we’ve come up with (insert actual good ideas), but we’d like your feedback on the potential implementation.”

Some suggestions:
Trait unlocks now have a chance of coming out of a black lion chest- assuming you have any traits locked, of course. Selection is randomly chosen from your locked traits.

Crafting The Dreamer now unlocks all the traits.

Hold a raffle for traits, similar to the halloween skins raffle that’s currently taking place.

90% world map completion now unlocks an entire line of traits.

Each time you interact with a cow, there is a slight chance that you will get a trait randomly unlocked.

I’m just trying to come up with ideas not already listed in the thread.

You know you can use multiple words for names, right? With spaces and everything? It can be irksome not to get the exact name you want, but if you’ve ever played an MMO before, you should be prepared to find a variant.

Wow. And then there are posts like this one.

Further examples of non-communication that’s being labelled as communication:

As of today, Friday, the developers have been actively working on creation of the Custom option. They then will put it through a testing pass after which it will be rolled out into the game. We think you’ll like the option, and I believe you’ll be pleased with the timeframe for this implementation, as well.

Once again, “We think you’ll like the option,” and “you’ll be pleased with the timeframe for implementation” are not communication. They’re pedantic instances of informing the playerbase what they should feel, and how ANet expects them to respond. This implies that, if the playerbase does NOT like the option, or is NOT pleased with the timeframe of implementation, it’s the players’, not ANet’s, fault.

Secondly, this response in no way communicates that ANet is truly listening to its playerbase. Why? I’m glad you asked.

  • The posts on October 22 saying that the change was en route came only after two prominent gaming critics, and Dulfy herself expressed extreme displeasure with the change. What’s this communicate? It communicates ANet cares only about its PR, not about its players.
  • It took two days for the developers to actually start working on a change. That the option was never even considered in the design phase says that the Devs were content to let things slide the way they were until enough outrage (read, bad PR) couldn’t let them continue. Now that the Devs are working on a change, it’s two full days after the acknowledgement was posted. Maybe this is a fast turnaround for ANet. But either way, it certainly doesn’t communicate that the player’s opinions are valuable—especially with how fast hotfixes have come down for other content.
  • (THIS IS FOR THE PLAYERS) Stop congratulating ANet for listening! The reversion of this change does not in any way prove that ANet has changed its stance or practice on listening to and communicating with the playerbase. All it proves is that, when ANet’s bottom line is threatened by external bad PR, it’ll get its rear in gear.

Once again, in the interest of communication, here’s what Gaile’s post could have been to solve many of the above issues:

Sorry for the slow start, but we finally have a team working on a fix for the gem converter. The proposed solution looks like <blank>. Despite starting on it today, we anticipate rolling out the change <specific release date>. If experience any setbacks, we will notify you ASAP with an update.

Would that be so hard?

This seriously makes me want to cry. They get results after forty-eight hours, and it’s not good enough.

I don’t think there is any value in discussing what seems to be, just like arguments based on human fallibility. Making guesses isn’t compelling discussion. I don’t think it’s honest to justify ‘making a ruckus’ to get something you want; I would like to think we are dealing with a higher level maturity here.

You are the one guessing at what seems to be. Here are the facts:

Legendary weapons were promoted heavily as a part of the expansion.
Right before launch, it was revealed that the full set wasn’t ready, but that they’d be coming in small groups.
Mr. O’Brien announced that he has a team of people working on a second expansion.
Mr. O’Brien announced that the development of legendary weapons has been suspended indefinitely and the people working on them were reassigned.

Now you’re defending that decision based on things that you assume about this company and about other players. I am reacting based on this decision absolutely being a breach of trust and completely unethical. You are the one suggesting that we should ignore past experiences and just have faith in the infallible Mr. O’Brien, when this entire thread is based on an admission of failure to deliver.

I’m not going to bother responding to you again. You have a way of twisting common sense to suit your own purposes and ignoring facts, so it’s really not worth the energy to engage repeatedly, but I think it’s disgusting that someone who has been around for the various shenanigans, who saw the whole thing unfold, is still willing to staunchly defend this sort of thing.

The whole point of the expansion being content-light was to develop a framework to make future development much easier. Does that seem to be the case, here?

There are quite literally thousands of posts on the forums BEGGING them not to bother with more living story updates, but rather focus on bugfixes and QoL (quality of life) changes. They’d rather just add more of the same, over and over, and pretend the issues don’t exist. Meh.

Actually I doubt seriously there are literally thousands of posts that are begging for them not to bother with living story updates. There probably aren’t even literally hundreds. I’m sure there’s not 1000.

I’m not sure why people ignore the quality of life stuff that has been added.

I don’t always agree with you, Vayne, and I’m not sure I can speak toward the number of requests Anet has had about abandoning LS for just a bit to focus on polishing the game, but I do agree that many of the positive changes are frequently overlooked. I love how the daily has evolved into being much more flexible, and how they kept some activities on rotation (though I wish they’d just rotate which one awards karma each day, and have all of them accessible), and more than anything else- the wallet feature.

This whole new option seems bad to me. It has all the potential of making the living story as boring as the personal story. It takes a really good addition to the game the living story that was a community event and makes it a boring solo farm run. Who in their right mind ever said they wanted to do the living story over and over and over and over again. The only part of the LS that was at all remarkable and repeatable was the Marionette. It would have make a nice world event but no we got the stupid wurm one instead. This bodes very badly. It sounds like they just want to remove community events and replace it with solo instance dungeons which is almost as bad an idea kitten man instance dungeons.

This is a dynamic game lets not forget that. Get back to basics and give up what we want not what is cheap.

Loads of people have said that temporary, unrepeatable content is bad for the game. Massive amounts of people in the first CDI thread begged for the ability to replay/review the personal story. This is an option. If you don’t want to pay for it, then don’t. Do the rest of the free content as it happens and be happy with that. You actually DO get access to years of free content, just for playing the game. They’re not hiding new content behind a paywall.

There will literally be no difference between how it worked in S1 to S2, except for the fact that, in S2, if you miss part of the LS, you are able to play it. In S1, you just couldn’t play it at all. Is that preferable? Seriously?

lol, @ reading =/= playing content.

Anyhow….so how does this work for new gamers starting up well after the LS2? will they just have a stack of gold they’ll have to gain to see the older content, or have to cough up dough?
What incentive will there be for those new players to even purchase it?

As opposed to the current method of not being able to see old content, you mean?

Over 2,000 posts… The latest blog post was really disappointing. I was hoping that the red post we got recently here was a bluff. It seemed implausible that they actually hadn’t thought about or discussed how much hate this system was getting.

Echo that. :\

After four months of almost consistently negative feedback and suggestions, to know they’ve barely looked at it is disheartening.

They haven’t said this but I am surprised that more people haven’t come to this conclusion:

The months of silence on this and much more is because they have been very busy and fervently working on the China Rollout. It wasn’t just the initial month but fixing bugs and issues and making sure things went smoothly with China. This was a huge cash cow for them, or at least a potentially huge cash cow and so they wanted to make sure that everything went smoothly.

The second aspect of it is that they want to unify the two systems to make sure it is easy to roll things out to both systems. So that is what we are seeing. They roll it out to China and then they roll it out to us. These changes we are seeing in the latest “big push” are all changes for China and are now making their way to us.

The reason they haven’t read the 4 months of hated response is because they were busy with China. Also it allows them to see whether it is initial dislike or if it is long term dislike. If initial ride it out and it dies out. If it is long term then they have to make decisions now on how to implement changes to ours that they can also implement with china so that they can keep programming similar. It would be too expensive to have two different programming departments. Much cheaper to have one that works on both.

Disheartening to see they didn’t read it, but not unexpected. They weren’t ignoring us, they were simply busy with something more important. Remember it’s a business so they put their attention and their time where money is to be made.

Then maybe they shouldn’t be rolling out huge new systems when they’re too busy to handle the repercussions? It’s not like the China launch was some big surprise that they couldn’t possibly have foreseen. They implemented the feature patch at the same time knowing full well they didn’t have the resources to manage both.

That said, it was pretty obvious that no changes to the trait system were coming in this “feature” patch, based on the post Mr. Cartwright made in this thread.

I know that, but I’m not ready to give up on the game quite yet. I think that if they don’t release SAB in the next few weeks that will be my breaking point. To put the minis in the store for the 2 year anniversary and not intend to follow up on it is beyond trolling and proof that they couldn’t care less about the community.

I have been considering just putting it down. Maybe It’s time to try Rift again. I wish there was a good MMO out there that I liked. Maybe Wildstar has fixed some things and is worth checking out again?

You might want to check out the SAB thread. They’ve communicated that it’s not coming in the near future.

I think it’s worrisome that their stance has been “No comment on anything that is a work in progress” and then they commented “hey, yes, we’re totally fixing this” and then went back to complete silence. Traits are why I’m not going to pre-order HoT for both of my accounts. Traits are why I’m not going to buy HoT for either of my accounts, in fact. I will snub my nose at precursor crafting, hang gliding, languages, and character progression because of traits. This is the strongest message I currently know how to send to the company. I don’t care what else is gated behind the expansion, because I will not buy it until I see for myself that the fix to traits and leveling is an improvement.

If that’s better than the potential backlash over the new system, I shudder to imagine what they’ve come up with.

New outfit trend!!!

Guhracie.3419

I dunno, guys, I feel like a bunch of people asked for armor to be made available in-game instead of in the gemstore, and that’s what they’ve done over the last year. If you think about it, they’ve released approximately the same number of armor sets they previously did in the gemstore in a given year, but they’re in the game itself now. In my personal opinion, that’s an improvement. They can take their time designing cool armor to be earned in the game, and churn out detailed outfit skins as often as they like, and it’s pretty much a win/win, for me.

I do think outfits should be more modular in the ability to hide certain aspects of them, but that may be something they’re working on right now.
