Really, people should stop complaining about everything. If you want casual gaming without thinking go and play a mobile game…

Twice-Told Legend ... really?

From OP example you have FIVE more LEGENDARY weapons and SIX unlocked skins. The duplicate example have ONE skin unlocked and a title (that is quite lame).

OP’s definition of MORE is baffling…..

As stated above, if the title is THAT desirable to you, craft another of the 6 Legendarys you already have…..you will then meet the criteria for that title.

Because obviously all those legendary skins you have are worth nothing, seriously guys. People look for literally anything to complain about… Be glad you didn’t make 2 of the same legendaries which now have re-usable skins since they added the wardrobe.

Guild Wars 1 dealt with the AFTERMATH of the guild wars. When Abaddon gave magic to the world, the guilds began to war among each other. So a large portion was returned and shattered through the Bloodstones.
Guild Wars 1 takes place decades, if not centuries after the last guild war. The reason the game is called guild wars is because most of the events are a direct or indirect result of the chaos the guild wars caused. The first time magic was released into the world, it was used in utter and pure chaos. The magic we have now is but a slimmer of what Abaddon broke free for us.

So why is this game called GW2?

The name of the series comes from the Guild Wars, a series of conflicts between Tyrian guilds which led to decline of humanity and allowing the charr to invade Ascalon, and other events of the first series of the games.

in Living World

lordkrall.7241

yes, we are back with the biweekly releases

No, the next won’t be as big (contentwise) because they had a lot longer than 2 weeks to create this chapter.

None of their releases have ever only had two weeks creation time.

It is actually rather likely that most (if not all) of the remaining S2 episodes have already been more or less created already.

Guild Wars 2: The Second Year in numbers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: rapthorne.7345

rapthorne.7345

Of course they won’t release any statistics be cause they would show how abysmal the game performes compared to the first year. Even the first year numbers were presented in a shady way (max players who played at one moment in this year, oh btw it was something with 400k people, compare this to Destiny: 3.4 million).

Fact is: WoW still holds 6 million people who pay monthly while GW2 is free and is played by a couple of 100k people.

WoW has always had the resources of a major game developer at hand, a staff of several thousand, and worldwide brand recognition/loyalty to keep players in. GW2 is supported by a small team crushed under the boots of NCSoft’s demands.

Destiny is also a cross platform game, which allows it to reach an incredibly large audience (The vast majority of Destiny players are console players, I believe), whereas GW2 is pc-exclusive. On top of being an FPS (one of the most popular next-gen game genres)

If ArenaNet had a larger team and NCSoft was not a part of the picture, the game would be a booming success and likely dwarf other F2P games.

That’s the other aspect of GW2 that affects it. GW2 is in it’s own niche of Buy to Play. Once you have the game, it’s yours for good. No subs, just gaming. Games likw WoW compel you to play them to get your money’s worth from the sub, whereas GW2 seems to be more aimed at a casual experience. This also keeps away the F2P gamers who may not be willing to invest in the game before being able to try it out (one of the reasons WoW implemented a perm free account option to allow players to play up to level 20 under restrictions)

Resident smug Englishman on the NA servers, just because.

what else is good title besides gwamm?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lady Elvea.2847

Lady Elvea.2847

When I see GWAMM, I just see someone who used necro heroes to do hard mode with no effort and ground a load of money for certain other titles

That’s a shame, because there are plenty of people who, like me, actually got their GWAMM the hard way… by playing with other people, working out their own builds, and figuring out how the heck to even get a vanquish or HM mission done before three necros got meta or before there were a million walkthroughs around. Most importantly… many people did it because it offered a variety of challenges and was fun.

Is it cheapened by people who got there taking lazy shortcuts? Probably. That still doesn’t mean every GWAMM out there should have their time and effort dismissed as such. You could just appreciate that the person you see with it could have gotten there the easy or the hard way and accept that as long as they had fun along the way, it was a worthwhile title for them to get.

I certainly felt a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when I got mine, just as I did when I maxed out my HoM achievements. I don’t wear it for anyone else, I wear it for myself, because I can and I know I earned it.

Ultimately titles and their value are entirely personal. The reward is that you have it, not how others may perceive it. If you can earn it by doing something you enjoy, go for it and wear it with pride. (Haters gonna hate!)

Mine?
Mesmer – GWAMM after her GW1 namesake who earned it, first lvl 80 and 100% map explorer in GW2
Necro – Been There Done That; second lvl80 and 100% map explorer
Thief – Master Carver… because lolwut
Guardian – Saviour of Lions Arch (or whatever) because she farmed the heck out of it

Make them personal, change them for the occasion, do whatever you like… just so long as you do it for you. I apply mine with my own (bad) sense of humour and the only one who’s in on the joke (or needs to be) is me.

Review of this new chapter

in Living World

Posted by: Jaken.6801

Jaken.6801

I do not actually get everything you just said.

1. If you call it review, then it is a very subjective and only covering a small part of the patch itself.
Furthermore your first statement is about the state of the game and not the patch, so all your credibility is out of the window already

2. There is not enough explantion to your points, so that people, like me, who are not so well versed in the matter of your prefered playstyle and what you are on about.

3. What kind of “Endgame” are you talking about?

4. Are you upset about normal mechanics? What is so wrong with the hounds? Which area of the game are you talking about? (They are pretty hard for me if they gang up in the part “Not under my Command”)

5. What do you mean by “Universal Mob Design”? The fact that they work like any other enemy, with only slight variations to allow them to have a different playstyle, while still going down under the usual formular: More DMG = faster Kill?
I have no problems with my “play how I want” playstyle, even though I am balanced in my specs. It is only logical that this takes longer.

Can it be that you want more enemy variety, which are more reliant on certain tactics? Like some who have a higher defense against phys attacks, but go down from conditions? Some who need an understanding of their behaviour and are actually dangerous if you are not aware of the danger?

6. Can you elaborate the term Farm Grinding ? I get that fighting in the Silverwastes is a struggle and you run from point to point.
You get rewarded for it, whoch is actually a good thing. How is engaging players to work together for better reward a form of grinding?

As far as I am aware grinding and farming is something you do on your own behalf and is nothing that is directly enforced from the top.

The rewards here are more or less the same as the ones you get everywhere else, except of course for the local rewards, which are also different everywhere… so whats wrong with that?

7. You use the term “casuals” very hateful and unreasonable, since you are actually the description of a casual player

Let me go...

……is something that I hope continues. I get so tired of coming on the forums and seeing nothing but complaining, even when Anet sometimes deserves it.

Here’s to Anet making an awesome patch, and hoping they keep the GW1 lore coming in healthy doses!

I am all for the Elder Dragons getting their story arc, but something I cannot wait for is setting Cantha free from dictatorship, and ending Palawa Joko’s rule in Elona. That will be some heavy doses of GW1 lore.

I used to play the game with a horrible connection; downloads even for the simplest of updates would take 1-4 hours. My advice is to just let it download and go outside or read a book for a while. I personally find no reason to complain about my own personal connection issues on the GW2 forums. If many people are experience server issues and/or possible havoc from another DDoS attack etc., that would be something worthwhile to bring up on the forums regarding connectivity. My opinion on the matter.

Golden shackles are still golden.

I think we need Capes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Duke Blackrose.4981

I DEMAND capes! Yeah I know charr, and clipping and stuff…Capes clipped and sometimes behaved strange(looking at you assassin)in GW1, they will do that here too, I’m sure they could do it, it’s just matter of time and a little push from here.

To be fair, Assassin armors in Guild Wars 1 were also beyond terrible. Every other class at least had some kind of coherent sense of style. Assassins were just “I got in a fight with a knife store and lost.”

I think we need Capes

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Duke Blackrose.4981

Duke Blackrose.4981

Sincerely , i think cape in GW2 is a very bad idea. At least until they figure a way to transfer more workload to the GPU. Currently things like shadows , reflections are done by the CPU and the game already hit kitten the CPU.

Unfortunately the capes enter the Animations graphic option( controls model animations and simulations, such as cloth and water , low, mid, high) Introducing capes in the game will require even more CPU power. Imagine a WvW fight with everyone in capes ? The minis are hidden for a reason when there is too much players around.

Finally , how do you manage the capes + back piece + shield + engineer hobo sack ??

NO capes

Capes would constitute back pieces. So there is no managing of capes + back piece + shield + engineer hobo sack. We already have that technology.

Now, if the CPU workload of having cape back pieces in WvW is really so high, that only implies that the game needs a wider range of graphics customization. For WvW, there’s really no happy medium between attractive + graphics intensive and “looks like a load of crap,” and we could really benefit from more options here.

I would suggest more advanced graphics sliders to dictate everything that you wish to be disabled or diminished:
Max players viewed
Minis
Particle slider
Legendary particles
Advanced animations (such as cloth animations)
Etc.
