3) Fix offline mode, a player can tell if their friend is hiding offline by hovering over their name on their friend list along with seeing their location and which character they’re on

Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of the mode? If someone is hiding, surely they don’t want to be found?

Yes, that is why they should fix it. It is really frustrating wanting to have alone time but friends knowing you’re on and where you’re at.

Ex: Friend who does not have you added hiding offline

The first screenshot shows that my friend is on his thief in Harathi Hinterlands hiding offline. It defeats the purpose of having an offline mode like you said.

Thank you for the recent QoL updates. My dream wishlist, in order of preference:

1. Add all zone currencies/keys to wallet. At the very least, crowbars/exalted keys/chak acid/machetes/bandit keys/zeph picks.

2. Don’t bother with dialogs on anvils. They serve one purpose. Just repair, no dialog before or after.

3. Allow Enter as a confirmation button in dialogs.

4. An option to auto-deposit any new mats diretly into my mat bank on acquisition.

5. An option to auto-compact after auto-depositing.

6. Allow guild treasurer to see my mat bank.

7. Some means to sell all minor/major runes/sigils to a merchant in one go, like the Sell Junk button.

8. Have the exit door icon always visible in personal story missions.

9. Being able to choose status (e.g. invisible) before entering game.

10. If you’re going to have random npcs walk up to crafting stations and banks, prioritise the station/bank over the random. I can select the npc and click F if I want to hear their one line of dialogue.

11. A “Use All” option on alcohols and any other stackable item whose only purpose is to be consumed in bulk for some collection.

12. Show more items in the almost-finished-achievements list in the hero panel, or allow me to hide achievements I’m not interesting in, e.g. pvp.

13. Show more items in the watchlist. I typically have the dailies plus a bunch of other achievements i’m working on.

14. Allow queueing in crafting stations. I typically have hundreds of ores/wood/whatever to refine and it’s tedious waiting for each bar/plank/etc set to finish then move on to the next. Let me queue them all and get a cup of tea. It adds nothing to the game to sit there, micro-managing.

15. Remember which wps I’ve unlocked in the guild hall when changing guilds. I visit another guild’s hall and when I come back to my main guild, the wps are locked again.

16. Display more toons on toon select screen at once, maybe in some grid formation.

17. On toon select screen, show more detailed information on clicking a toon pic, like the equipment page of the hero panel. And even more awesome if it can display inventory.

18. Some means to peruse achievements from toon select screen – like the achievement page from the hero panel. I’d be able to see what achievements I’m working on and choose a suitable toon.

19. Build saves.

20. Have the mystic forge work like a crafting station, with a recipe list of recipes you discover.

21. Don’t have noisy one-line-regurgitating npcs near major service centres.

22. Allow notifications on-screen (like the ESL at the top-right) to be hidden.

23. Make updrafts more visible, or offer a mastery that makes them more visible. They’re hard to see against the sky above VB.

24. Hide ground weapon skills when gliding. Now that Bloodstone Fen is offering gliding weapon skills, it’s confusing to glide around in other maps with our land weapon skills showing.

EDIT: Added 23/24.

How is there no filter for gold sell url's?

TLDR.

Better than sitting on hands and letting same URL that has been getting spammed for 4 years continue to be whispered. Also having an option to prevent whispers from non friends seems perfectly reasonable to me as well, if not just for spam but for trolls.

Look you guys can write a 50 page dissertation for all I care and you’re not going to convince me that the current solution of doing nothing is effective.

As has been pointed out in numerous places both here and in other threads, Anet takes this problem seriously. The simple fact that these websites are having to take convoluted measures to get around filters is proof that Anet’s doing more than “nothing”.

Flip your thoughts around for a moment. These websites are stealing money from Anet. Don’t you think they’d work kitten hard to stop them?

Well if all their players on this forum are just apologists for the inaction, no wonder they never try anything to stop it.

Maybe you could tell us what games that have successfully gotten rid of gold seller spam and how they did it.

That would be most helpful.

This link has a creative solution that Im surprised is not more prevalent:

http://forums.icarus.nexon.net/discussion/6915/custom-chat-filter-suggestion

Won’t work. They would replace gold with yellow coin or get more ambiguous while still conveying the message. Eventually half your messages would be blocked because as the gold sellers use more ambiguous language to get around common blocked phrases like “buy gold,” you will also be blocking legitimate players trying to message you. It’s the same problem except it’s on your end instead of Anets end. I could see some positive trade off from this I suppose but really those trade offs would not outweigh the development time needed for such a tool. That and I’m sure you can’t have an unlimited vocabulary for your block list. There would have to be a cut off for the words that trigger the block.

If there was a good solution it would be used already. Thankfully gold sell spam is not as bad in gw2 like other games. I played ff14 like 6 months ago and it was awful.

I know you lost a lot of money from ecto investment.

But making a post about ecto gambling won’t bump up the price.

And, as with any gambling, the odds are that you will lose. You will hear about winners just as you can read about people winning lotteries around the world. But the odds are you will lose every time. If gambling were a good way to invest money you would see it recommended by financial planners. It isn’t. And, it isn’t a good way to invest resources made in a game either.

They’re not being “apologists”; they’re just saying that the idea of filtering the websites and blocking whispers from non-friends won’t work because the gold sellers always find ways around that.

Anet takes the gold seller issues very seriously by reading reports from players and banning the accounts doing the selling. There’s only so much they can do, though, because the sellers will always get more accounts (either by making their own free ones or by stealing accounts that made the mistake of buying gold from them).

If you have the time to play then yes it’s worth coming back. There would be a ton of content for you even if you don’t buy the expansion so why not?

Most newer and more intense content de facto demands the new classes. Raiding as “core” classes will be significantly more difficult for example.

Raiding is only available to HoT clients anyways, which have access to the new specs. They only played the game a few hours back at release, the core game has a lot of content for the OP to do. Not necessary for them to buy the expansion until they play and feel they will stick with the game.

OP, it’s free to play, just reinstall and play again.

Season 2 item vendor

Do you mean the Laurel Vendor?

It’s unlikely Season 2 items will be sold by the Laurel Vendor (or any other vendor that doesn’t already sell them). Season 1 items were added because it’s impossible to play Season 1 so there was absolutely no way to get those items any more.

Season 2 is still available for everyone (even free accounts can buy it) which means all the items are also still available.

No one cares about server pride any more.

All WvW players and WvW guilds want now are fights.

You get more fights in the top tier servers.

So they are moving up to those servers.

Simply put it’s another nail in the coffin of WvW.

FA and DB seem to be different IME. Not that people don’t like to fight, and not that there aren’t people who just want to fight. But both have people that are trying to win the match rather than uniblob against the competing servers in the middle of an open field for no reason. I know there is server pride on FA. It might not be server pride on DB, but it feels like it.

Recruit and power your way up.

Because this is the core of the problem.

That is pretty much it. Servers stacking their way up the tiers is the problem. And it isn’t individuals moving, but guilds. Tie guilds to a single server. If you move a guild, start all over in building a guild hall and gaining advancements. And make transfers cash only as you suggested, so trading stacks of ectos for guilds stops.

Why I hated HoT and the mastery system.

While HoT is theoretically possible to easily do without adventure HPs (I need to make some rageposts on that subject, however), if you don’t do the “ideal” progression of mastery points (and look up guides for strongboxes) you can easily find yourself in a position where traversing maps to get further mastery points becomes a nightmare. Tangled depths is the best example of this-if someone takes gliding heavily to help them with VB, then works on anything that isn’t Nuhoch, they can hit TD with no mastery points and no reliable way of getting round the map.

Perhaps allowing respec of mastery points should be allowed?

Pretty much this.

I ended up leveling up exalted all the way first, I figured mastery points would be something easy in the long run. Nope. Gated behind travel masteries and multilevel map labyrinths.

So maybe enough of that, and one day I decided to go play the story for once instead of dredging through someone’s idea of an escherian stairwell. And then just when I think I can do something fun, the game design puts me right back to the map play hunting for masteries just so I can get back to the story. Betrayal.

Put an option to respec of masteries /agree

You can’t even unlock Exalted materies utnil you enter the second zone, which means at least running through the first zone.

Gliding is automatically selected for you when you do the first two stories which unlocks masteries.

So you’re saying you did the first two stories, unlocked masteries, ran throught he first zones without looking at or doing anything, entered the second zone and leveled that mastery you unlocked, even though gliding was given to you by default.

You ran past numerous jumping mushrooms that all said you need a mastery to use them if you interacted with them.

Because you can’t even start exalted mastery until you leave VB. I’m not even sure how it happened to be honest.

The only thing I can think of is you teleported to a friend or walked out of the guild hall in AB.

But yeah, this is something that isn’t the fault of the game. The game gives plenty of indication that you need gliding and jumping mushrooms at least, even if you completely ignore the story.

I guess it didn’t occur to me that anyone would try to navigate VB and the other maps before trying the storyline or, well, just looking around at the terrain. Really? You fully mastered exalted lore before you realized that you needed updrafts or bounce mushrooms? It just seems…unlikely, given the way bounce mushrooms and updrafts are literally everywhere you go in every single map of HoT and not having them unlocked heavily impedes your progress in a very obvious way.

In any event, I don’t think a mastery point “do-over” is unreasonable, even if I’m not clear on how you ended up in the position to require one. The only problem I’d have with it is that it needs to have some cost or restriction (one-time use?) or it essentially lets you have access to multiple mastery lines by only unlocking one.

I see a fair bit on the forums of people going “hate hot, refuse to go in it”. And you know what, good. That means a lot less map friction, chats full of complaints. Keep it on the forums.
On the other hand.. if you actually make the effort to check the HoT maps out and are genuinely stuck – which can happen sooner or later depending on the map – just ask in map chat and people will help you out. Join a guild that loves HoT, improve your chances or a shared fun experience. Add me (and there are others who offer in every thread) and I’ll show you around.

All you solved was not being able to get around in the new zone.

Which might be just what he wanted. Maybe he doesn’t care about the story.

The new zone isn’t just about story though. It’s also about getting ascended accessories that you can set the stats too just by farming the zone. Pretty much the cheapest ascended back piece in the game now, for example.

The new zone is partly about story but it’s also partly about rewards and experience. Saying I don’t need any masteries because I watched it means not playing any new PvE content going forward, if they require those masteries.

Youtube doesn’t solve that problem at all, unless you’re not going going to forgo the story but the rewards for the new zones and the experience for playing those zones.
