I’d be fine if the stupid rocks had a realistic range limit instead of 50,000m. Seriously wtf kind of upper body workout do those white mantle knights have.

I’m not a PvE player. In fact, I only leave Eternal Battlegrounds, Alpine Borderlands or Edge Of The Mists maybe once every 3 – 4+ months excluding any time I spend in LA doing stuff in the Mystic Forge.

I always explore new maps such as the ones released with HoT or other ones prior to it like Silverwastes, Dry Top, etc. but I only usually go there a few times to see what’s up then I never come back. PvE just isn’t my thing.

That said, Verdant Brink was the first map I ever enjoyed being in. I went there quite often just to relax and do what ever. Sometimes I even tagged up to lead event trains but the biggest reason I liked the map was for the events themselves.

Now with Bloodstone Fen, I like both the events and the physical design of the map. It’s both fun to be there and pleasurable to look at/explore as well as easy to navigate. The red skies and mixture of landscapes are like candy for my eyeballs. I go there daily for the daily rewards and just to gather some loots.

There’s one major problem though… NPC’s throwing rocks at you from 1000000000 away and being dead accurate. It drives me insane and as far as I can tell, there’s no way to stop it. They even hit you while using the stealth mastery and the damage adds up quick.

Can we please either remove this rock throwing business or add some kind of skill that gives us a reflective bubble while in flight? Because besides pre-nerf PU Mesmers in WvW, this is the single most obnoxious thing I’ve experienced in the game. The second I leave the ground to fly, I’m being pelted by rocks and they don’t tickle either. Especially if you’re coming down near a mob of them, it’ll only take a few seconds before your health is at a critical percent.

If that was their intention, it backfired, as after the first day i have yet to see a map that is even interested in spawning him, much less fighting him. If it’s going to make average players realize something, it would be that this boss is definitely beyond their reach.

Huh, weird I find it the other way around. First day there’s rarely a spawn of the Guardian. Yesterday every chain of Jade Constructs lead to the Guardian (and killed it easily). I suspect it’s because people now know what they’re doing, and more importantly, know that the JC – Guardian event is a chain, and is a good source of Blood Ruby (+ achievement). This results in people dropping anything else they’re doing when someone calls the event on Map chat and comes rushing in.

The whole time I dont see anyone saying he’s hard or out of reach, just that it’s too easy. Anyway, it seems like you have to kill all 5/6 JC in a row before the Guardian spawns.

Are there any plans on removing the unique tags on the rings/accessories? It really seems counterproductive now. I can understand some things being unique, like the collection achievement accessories, but now there’s no distinction between red ring of death and crystalline band.

I think they see you from a great range with invisible scopes (or worse, cybernetic implants), and even if you go into stealth, they’ve seen you do it and can instantly estimate the airspeed velocity of any swallow, unladen or otherwise, so said stealth is irrelevant - then those guided missiles! Ow! Is fun to dodge about for a bit, but still!

Agree on glider skill 5 as best option - have used it to evade a few times now. Healing on skill 4 doesn’t really do enough to help, but something like a Guardian-style block on-heal would be good. Its 1 second evade doesn’t really work well when lots of stuff is being pelted at gliders.

Agreed. They do ignore stealth gliding. I’ve been pelted too. Not enough to be knocked out of the sky it seems, so I’m not complaining about being pelted. But it seems a shame to gain a stealth gliding mastery and find it ignored.

Not entirely sure but them knocking you out of the sky seems to be tied to wether or not they crit. I’ve been pelted to downed state without getting knocked out and at other times 1 rock was all it took to knock me out of the sky.

I swear if a rock they throw at you manages just 1 crit, you’re knocked out of your glider immediately with a 3 second forced cooldown before you can enable your glider again.

Also tested Stealth Gliding some more, but they just don’t care and keep throwing stones at you as if you were plainly visible. So a Tier 4 skill (5 Mastery Points) is now completely useless in that specific zone when it was working as intended everywhere else.

Yup, totally agree with OP. Great update apart from the fact that every enemy seems to want to throw kitten at me if I approach within a 2 mile radius of them and there is absolutely no counterplay mechanism/

If the fact that stealth gliding doesn’t break combat isn’t a bug, then the devs really to look at this.

As we now also have combat skills when gliding, perhaps a shield skill could be purchasable for a utility slot?

Sensing a player that opens their Glider (even briefly) from 2000+ range away and throwing Homing Rocks at them is a bit much. I’m pretty sure I’ve had Homing Rocks thrown at me by White Mantle Knights that were even out of rendering distance, too. That’s pretty much my only gripe about the new content.

I’ve actually said the same thing after the raid’s ending, anet has seemed to be setting this story up all the way since launch, most people I talk to are more interested in the white mantle/ lazarus than they are interested in going for another dragons. Anet doesnt seem capable of making the dragons a very threatening antagonist. It also seems highly likely to me, at this point, that Lazarus will be the main antagonist for a looooong time to come, especially because we’ve already seen what happens when too much magic releases into the world and this will only become worse.

Hyped for the future of the story, hoping we’re going to focus more on villains with actual personality than forces of nature.

I think Lazarus could be a VERY interesting “long term” antagonist, as opposed to a steriotypical seasonal antagonist, I think we have room here to make him a “reoccuring” ally/enemy who helps us at every turn only to claim the glory for the mantle, and himself.

We’ll see but I don’t think he’ll live past this season.

That, I sincerely doubt. You don’t just resurrect someone from the past to have them killed off again quickly. It might be more like Cadecus as an enemy, where it takes 3 years for the seeds of his plans to pay off, but he’ll be around for a little while, at least. He was a bit vague on what his grand plan will be.

I really don’t see him taking on a dragon, even if he is that strong. Killing an elder dragon is a big deal. So for one to die from anything but our own actions will definitely be anticlimactic. There are probably a lot more ways to demonstrate his strength besides killing off a dragon.

I would not buy any merchandise at all, I did not find this option in the survey sadly. I keep gaming and real life stuff strictly seperated so I never buy any merchandise ever for any game.

Come on, you know if you could buy a custom GW2 t-shirt with your 5th person 30k achievement points you would. That or one that says, “One of my 30 accounts.” Or maybe a Snuggie.

I didn’t see it mentioned, but with how guilds choose from a set of basic templates to make their logo I would LOVE to be able to buy merch that had my own guild logo on it.

I would also love to see more novels that expand on the lore of the world as well as other books that can be more utilitarian such as recipes or other subject matter as we would find on the wiki.

There are ways that long hairstyles can be implemented without clipping. Most of the shorter hairs clip anyways so clipping doesn’t 100% bother me the one long human hairstyle is pretty and does fine with clipping and its my favorite hairstyle but I don’t play human.

As a newer and therefore low level player I would agree with the idea based on the fact it gives new players more incentive to play areas beyond just leveling thru.

The highest level character on your account determines the “level” of dailies you get in pve. So instead of “daily sparkfly fen events” you might get “daily kessex hills events” as a daily.

There should be dailies on all maps.

I have to agree with those that state the current Map Bonus system already awards level-specific mats. And one need only to 2 events, or so, to attain one of the rewards. Want more, play longer in said map.

Having Dailies in each and every map would constitute somewhere around 30? sets of Dailies/per day. Seems a bit much, if for nothing else than the UI.

There should be dailies on all maps.

I think this suggestion would not cause players to revisit maps in significant amounts without burning them out. Either:

  • Players visit all maps to get all dailies, in which case they burn out, or
  • Players just do the dailies in the maps they are already on.

A slightly better system would be to have a “thick leather section” daily that will reward you with whatever it is you are trying to farm (allowing people to farm cloth or leather, by the way) by doing something specific or revisiting a specific map. However, map bonuses already do this.

There should be dailies on all maps.

Map Rewards… they are your bonus for doing events on the other maps… the bloodstone fen dailies will likely only be here for the duration of the living story and will then dissapear again, just as the halloween/winterday/everyothertemporaryevent dailies have done in the past…

I’d like the option to choose Status before entering the game, like we had in GW1. Along with this, if one chooses ‘Invisible’, to actually be invisible to all tracking in-game.

In other words, for the game to treat the account as ‘Offline’.

Just a note to the Devs: Thanks for all the QoL updates we get, some not even posted in the patch notes (I’ve noticed these sneaky ones..lol). Some Devs go above and beyond, like with the Pet Name change…very nice. =)

“Do you really want to enter you home instance?” – “Yes master, yes yes yes I want, you kitten $#*&$”

Living World Story so solo unfriendly

Season 3, Episode 1 is NOT solo unfriendly…
I easily soloed it and had no issues with any of the classes.
You really need to just learn how to play, get better at moving and dodging and part of the fun is learning the boss mechanics. Just face-rolling an NPC like normal mobs is boring in my honest opinion. I hope ArenaNet does not nerf this episode and I hope more interesting and weird boss mechanics get introduced that make you think.

Well, I have now a +7 agony infusion and an amulet slot. I tried to put the +7 AR into the amulet but it was not possible. What are you saying about ANY SLOT?
On the other hand, in the morning I had 150 AR on my gear. After the patch I have only 143. If I want to do now the lvl 99 fractal, I will be 6 AR short. So, I have to do something (to work) to achieve the same lvl I had before the patch. They give us the +7 AR back? Is useless. I want my Fractal Relics I spent on it back.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/INFUZ-5959

You can get the relics back if it was a simple infusion so actually they did compensate us. Amulets now only accept Enrichments which are basically the old utility infusions and can be bought from the laurel vendor.

You are totally missing the point. What if you don’t do fractals? I don’t have any AR at all. None. Zip. I don’t do fractals. What I do have is 6 infusions I can’t use and 6 amulets with no infusions because I don’t want to spend 20+ laurels on “enrichment” ones. I primarily WvW. Enrichment infusions aren’t really all that useful.

If you have the mastery points to spare, it takes ONE point to be able to attune your rings . And some gold. You go from “missing” a slot to having 2 slots now empty. Just remember to extract any existing infusions first as well. All it takes once you spent that one mastery point is walking into the Fractal Observatory. That wasnt so hard, was it? (unless you already have attuned rings, then oh well, I tried)

and if they did already have attuned & infused rings then they just gained 4 more slots that can be used for wvw infusions in stead of AR infusions… so they lost 1 slot but gained the ability to have an additional 4 slots.. 2 of which will require them to do some fractals, but still +1 slot without much work overall seems like a win to me…. (same if you want to infuse your backpiece now you just gained an extra slot…what?!?!?!)

It seems like 90% of what ArenaNet works on is QoL or mechanics, and very little content. This patch was not heavy on content (you can complete every solo PvE thing in a few hours), in fact it was very light on content. It is apparently that ArenaNet struggles with producing content, maybe it is time to stop working on QoL changes and focus the team fully on content that the majority of players play, that has been lacking for 2 years now, HoT was super light on content, this patch was super light on content. Adding in large long grinds is not content, it is just mindless repetitive drivel.

But the thing is without introducing new grind, no matter how big the map and story instance is, player will be able to finish them in a few hours. Dev can never make content fast enough to keep players in game without grind, and that is true for every online game.

Some must fight so that all may be free.

Hey guys!

This issue is affects multiple areas in the game: such as dolyaks in wvw, raid encounters, and the open world events we’ve been putting out the last few releases (to give a few examples). Any fix that touches so many parts of the game has to be made carefully. (As when we rush fixes we sometimes introduce new issues that make things even worse for you guys.) We are still working on this issue and you’ll be updated when more information is available.

Thank you everyone for your continued reports! And thank you for your continued grace and patience while folks on this side work toward a solution that works and is safe.

As someone noted above, a temporary fix would be to remove bounties from the possibilities until you get it fixed.

Guild missions are very important to a lot of people in this game, even though they haven’t been updated in 3 years.

Well I just deleted my elementalist which had full commander’s armor with ascended celestial trinkets. . . I had only just gotten my last gear piece the night before the patch as well, and had been working very VERY hard on my elementalist to get all of that stuff. I’ve never been this stressed out from a video game patch before, Hundred of hours wasted on a toon that I end up deleting because of it’s newfound uselessness.. . . This patch was utterly violating for elementalist players. There is no role for us in spvp anymore. Ele is probably not going to be used whatsoever in spvp. You guys might as well delete the class. : (

And when it goes back to being powerful six months from now after another patch you’re going to kick yourself. I don’t know why people feel they need to delete a nerfed character.

It’s still more powerful than most professions anyway.

MMOs are all about adapting to changed. Not be able to adapt is the only real way to lose in an MMO.
